je suis française donc évidemment j'ai un petit faible pour nos versions mais je trouve que certaines versions canadiennes sont vraiment bien aussi =D

En fait j'aime toutes les versions des chansons de Disney, sauf un... sauf la VG d' Oliver and Company (Oliver et Compagnies) parce je me sens à Paris et non à New-York... Surtout quand ils disent Valses Street Journal et dans la VQ ils disent le journal de Wall Street... La voix de Dodger (Roubelard en VF) est beaucoup trop nasillarde et m'irrite les oreilles...
Ils sont tout très super mais je pense que les versions européen doivent être mon préféré

@@HollieDaNugget Dont worry has been born with the language, i can said it is just enough to understand perfectly, has still student i see 3 blunder in the sentence, the most big one is mon préféré which has to be mes préféré because it is in plural, then the word version is a feminine word so europeéen has to be with plural européennnes.
The real challenge for you in french will be that contrary to english which dont have a lot, in french, there feminine word everywhere and some are mainly male have to be transform when you talk about someone who is a girl or the word is feminine. So unstead of english which have regular and plural, in french theres : Regular male, plural male, regular feminine and plural feminine.
I imagine after 4 years you know that but still gonna share this if you didnt know or notice yet.

If you listen carefully you will hear that all eu french voices are the same. Girly, not to say babyish, too sweet (like for jasmine, rapunzel and anna). Canadian french voices are different and I think they fit more for mature character like Merida, Esmeralda, Anna, Ariel, Jasmine... Just my opinion
They aren't all the same, you notice if you have a pair of ears...

Le problème de doublage est entre autre le niveau de français utilisé lors de la traduction.... En effet, le français au Québec est ce qu'on appelle un doublage universel, ce qui n'est pas le cas avec les doublages français européen. Certaines expressions et choix de traduction n'ont pas la profondeur que l'on peut retrouver dans la chanson originale. Au Québec, on s'assure d'une qualité se rapprochant d'une mise en marché radiophonique, alors que les traductions européenne nous rappellent les chansons pour enfants. Pour les voix, ce n'est que détails car elles chantent les mêmes notes... pourtant les intentions sont mieux comprises lors de l'interprétation québécoise probablement due au niveau de français utilisé.
+TheCavaliere26 Comme je l'ai répété dans bien des vidéos, les versions françaises sont plus poétiques et les versions québécoises plus réalistes. Le public cible étant différent, les paroles sont adaptées en conséquence.
Il y a de belles voix canadienne mais je trouve que l'envie des canadiens de coller autant à la VO, cassent parfois le rythme et cela fait un peu forcer. (par exemple avec Megara, 2:42 et Melody 7:02)
Et en français... Parfois, on perd totalement le sens et ça rend une jolie chanson mais un peu out si on regarde le fond de celle-ci et le set-up du personnage (je pense surtout à Elsa pour le coup, en comparaison avec la VO).
Les Québécois traduisent trop littéralement

It’s very tricky to compare french and canadien french because of the accent but also because of how it affects the voice. Voices you could consider sounding “too mature” for maybe a 17 year old princess are actually what a teenager’s voice could sound like in Quebec. It’s mostly because their voices are much more deeper and nasal than France french that sounds way higher because of the way the way they speak and the way their mouths is positioned while they speak. For french Canadians, French people’s voices sound very high compared to what they’re used to and a French adult’s voice sounds like a child’s voice for them.
I'm French, and when I hear the song of Esmeralda I know that's the Canadian version who wins ! Lara Fabian is amazing !
Even though I speak the Quebec French, I do prefer the France French most of the time. Even though the Canadian voice usually have more strength and emotion, Eu French sounds better sometimes. So let's add the emotion and strength to the Eu French singers! Hopefully that doesn't butcher anything

the problem with the litteral translation is that the words don't match the lips' movement. So in order to synchronise words and lips' movement is to change some of the words.
And because a litteral translation means nothing in french, because it's not french, it's english.

Math cargi bof, la prononciation n'est pas vraiment différente, il m'arrive de regarder certains films sans me rendre compte que c'est en VFQ alors que je suis habitué aux VFF. Et pour les voix 'matures', c'est en parti vrai mais Pocahontas fait figure d'exception : je trouve la voix de Stéphanie Martin plus 'douce' que celle de Laura Mayne.

Je ne suis pas d'accord. Par exemple, la version d'alladin est bien mieux écrite en vf: lorsque Jafar attaque le tapis, il crie "tu veux en découdre", ou lorsqu'il bloque alladin avec des sabres "c'est pointu, n'est-ce pas ?", puis "votre temps est compté princesse" lorsqu'il l'enferme dans un sablier. Et enfin, les allitérations en S lorsque jafar est transformé en serpent.
Tant de bonnes choses que la version canadienne ne fait qu'effleurer, alors que cela ne change même pas le sens de la traduction !
Nono l’as tu vu en anglais au moins ? En anglais ils disent ces choses(même en mieux) et en français québécois aussi alors avant de juger les français, renseignez-vous un peu !

Alors premièrement je l'ai vu en vq et en vf et regarde bien, tous ces jeux de mots ne sont pas retranscrits.
Ensuite j'ai bien précisé que je n'avais rien contre la vq ( il se trouve que je préfère de nombreux films en vq plutôt qu'en vf). Après je trouve qu'alladin est un exemple flagrant de la différence des traducteurs lorsqu'ils appréhendent une oeuvre en anglais.
Pas la peine d'être condescendant, si tu sortais parfois de ton trou et que tu lisais un peu des livres au lieu seulement de regarder des disney, tu verrais que la traduction est un exercice qui va bien au delà de ce qu'une machine peut faire.
Par exemple, lorsque Chateaubriand traduit Milton, le traducteur dépasse presque l'original, et cela peut être aussi le cas dans l'autre sens.

Personnellement je suis française et les deux voix à chaque fois sont magnifique.Dans la version québécoise,le texte se rapproche beaucoup plus de la VO et que dans la version française le texte est beaucoup plus poétique, c’est pour sa que je la préfère car on se laisse plus aller etc quand on est gamin. Mais les 2 sont MAGNIFIQUES 🇫🇷🇨🇦

Differences between European french and canadian french voices: Power and techniques! Most of all France female singer chosen for Disney have tiny voices with a teenager tone. No wonder french canadian singers are considered as one of the most technical and powefull voices in the world and are known internationally. How many french female singer are known internatioally exept for Piaf 50 years ago? Exemple of singers from Quebec who has an internationnal carreer? Celine Dion, Marie-Denise Pelletier, Bruno Pelletier, Garou, Mario Pelchat, Isabelle Boulay, Lynda Lemay, Ginette Reno, Gregory Charles, Diane Dufresne...

And I think canada goes wrong by picking elderly actresses to play teenage girls.

Well most of the time, the lyrics AND the french canadian voices are pretty similar with the original american version of Disney's movies. American and French Canadian are using strong technical singers for their Disney's characters. So i dont think WE are in the wrong. It is very haughty from French people to consider themselves better than the original creators of those classics...

I wonder what's wrong with having mature voices, I think it's a cultural preference : you'll have a hard time searching for tiny female voices in Québec, we prefer powerful voices for that kind of song. The only singers with tiny voices are usually songwriter too.
My exact thoughts ! Apart from certain specific character (*cough* Megara) I find the "she 14 so the VFQ is too mature so the VFF is better" completely puerile. It's a fact, Quebecer (be them men or women, adults or teenager) tend to have a deeper voice than French. Simply because we speak from the throat while they speak from the mouth. Do the test at home, you'll notice what I’m talking about. So yeah, of course our dubbing have deeper voices than the EU. It's not that our voices are too mature and theirs too young, it's just a difference of from where we speak.

Nono excuse moi mais les chansons anglaises DÉFONCENT celles en français (même les québécois ) en vf, clest trop poétique alors que ce n’est pas nécéssaire. Pour les versions françaises (et québécoises) les paroles passent moins bien. As-tu écouté les chansons en anglais au moins ? La majorité du temps les seules personnes qui ne sont pas d’accord avec ça, sois ils ne comprennent pas bien les paroles ou l’anglais ou bien elles sont trop têtues

Ahah oui je les ai vues et entendues pour la plupart de mes préférées en vo et en vf et bien que la plupart du temps le sens soit très proche, parfois un peu de poésie ne fait pas de mal ;)
Je ne veux pas dire que le français défonce l'anglais ou le contraire, c'est du cas par cas...
Nono pas tort mais parfois c’est trop poétique lorsque ce n’est pas nécéssaire, par exemple dans Moana (Viana en Europe) il y a une chanson How Far I’ll Go et en français (Vf et vq) c’est quelque chose du style le bleu de l’eau ou quelque chose du genre 🤷♀️ How Far I’ll Go est plutôt Poétique mais aussi facile à comprendre le message, alors que qu’en français où c’est poétique mais on comprend moins bien le message. Cependant elle n’est pas nécéssaire,met mauvaise mais parfois on se complique trop la vie pour traduire 🤷♀️

I'm so biased though... I've been listening to the french version my whole life, so even though I find the Québécoise singer really good in terms of performance, I just can't picture any other voice behing the characters than the french one!^^ For Ana they almost sound exactly alike that's crazy!

But I'm from Quebec so it's the opposite ^^ For example I can't picture Jasmine with Karine's high-pitched and very "teenager" voice when I've breen hearing Martine's deep and sexy voice all my life, even if I found some of the Euro. French voice better than the Canadian French one (like Claire Guyot as Ariel)
It seems like France casts cute and sweet voices and Quebec picks strong and mature voices. I really need to familiarize myself with all of these dubs. I really liked all the snippets I heard!

les doubleurs francais canadiens ont une meilleure habillitée a parler sans accent et avoir un francais plus international, mais les francais d'europe ont plus d'accent et d'expressions propre a eux. alors voila pourquoi la plupart des doublages sont fait par des canadiens. Idk.. It has that husky sound in it (btw she is 16) and it rlly sounds exotic a little bit like Arabic so for me I prefer Jasmines that have the exotic touch in them not all crystal pure voice
One day everyone have to realize that Canadian French is simply more gutteral. That's it. Maybe it looks it doesn't fit, but in a Canadian point of view it does and vice versa for French voices.
Chloe McNeil tone is too affected. Really annoying. Maeva Méline fits better. & her rendition of "I see the light" is brilliant.

I like the Canadian versions more not just because I'm Canadian, but also because I can't stand the high-pitched nasaly voices of the French versions. The deeper, smoother Canadian voices are much more pleasing.

omg ... There is many different ''french'', especially if you go in france. What is understood as european french here is called ''français métropolitain'', it is the french used in Paris and most of the news outlet. You have regional accents specific to switzerland, belgium, cote d'azure, bretagne, normandie and about all historic regions of France. The french spoke in north america is specific as the native speakers here got their french from the ''ancient régime'' (monarchy) and at the time it was still a french colony, it was reputed that everyone in new france had a perfect Parisian accent. This changed with the french revolution. As the revolution engaged many social transformations, the continental french was adapted to the new identity in progress and regional accent in france where heavily modified to conform to the language of the government, but still today you have reginal accent and even local language that are not french still alive and used. About 50 years after the revolution, when people from France got in contact with their american relatives, they described the french used in the now english colony as barely understandable and archaic. The truth is that the french canadians where able to maintain and conserve the French that was historically spoke by the French and English aristocrates since they never learned the new french of the revolution. Still to this day, there is what is called ''international French'' that was normalised by the Quebec authorities for the news stations mainly to be understood everywhere in quebec (with time, small groups of french speaking canadian developped their own regionalisms, often with the colors from their region of origin in france) and to be understood by francophones living outside the province of quebec; it is a french designed to be as neutral as possible, clearly audible but still tainted by the locution used in quebec. On the other side of the atlantic, they dont bother and just call it ''french'' but the equivalent for official communications is the Parisian French. So I would argue that the labels used here are strickly correct. And this is not specific to quebec, about every french colony has developped its own colours and reginalisms in therm of appropriation of the popular language, so you have a french specific to the antilles, a french in jersey and guernsay, a french from algeria, from cote d'ivoire, etc. as a sidenote, I would point out that Parisian french speakers usually struggle to understand the french from Quebec, not the other way around, but french speakers from switzerland and belgium usually have an easier time understanding it as it is closer to their own regionalisms.
C’est moi ou les versions françaises EU sont toutes très similaires ? Les versions canadiennes sont pas parfaites non plus mais j’ai l’impression qu’elles sont plus uniques aux personnages.

Well thank you for your sincerity and objectivity towards the two versions... Your attitude make me agree with you (except for the Anastasia version, I have a preferance for the voice of the canadian singer, because I like her tone and voice a tiny bit more than the european version ^^) even tho I grew with the french canadian versions. There is a lot people making fight about the two versions and I admit I was part of it, but now seriously I changed my mind and realised how useless it is.

@ Agathe; je valide à 100% surtout pour Tiana !! La version du doublage québécois de "La Princesse & la Grenouille" donne un style et un rythme génial & elle rend surtout aussi magistralement hommage aux accents du bayou .
Je suis française et bien sûr je suis plus VFF que VFQ mais depuis quelques années (surtout pour les dessins animés) j'apprécie de plus en plus le doublage québécois.
Je citerai notamment Hotel Transylvanie .... je suis fan à 200% de la version québécoise !! d'ailleurs je me suis acheté les blu-rays sur Amazon US pour être certaine d'avoir la VFQ ! Elle est tellement plus drôle ! j'ai regardé 5 min la VFF mais franchement pas du tout le même sentiment ...

Overall I think French princesses are girly, sweet but can be annoying while Canadian princesses are lil bit mature. I prefer Canadian dubbing because I'm not a fan of too girly voice but it depends. Nice editing though :D
cause French Canadian is more "direct" their accents sound more "rude" if you know what I mean haha. while French from france is more cute and girly. but it depends some French voices are so ugly cause they can be so low
but for disney characters they will,of course, have their cute, angelic voices haha

CaptJericho Ce n’est absolument pas ridicule, c’est juste une métaphore que visiblement tu n’as pas compris (ils vivent le rêve de l’humanité qui est de voler, d’où « Ce rêve... », ils le font dans le ciel qui est bleu, d’où « ...bleu » donc « Ce rêve Bleu », ce n’est absolument pas une « traduction » comme tu peux l’affirmer!
Léo Mickaël non mais les français arrêtez de vous penser supérieur wtf, les versions en anglais sont définitivement TOUJOURS les meilleures et bien écrit donc nous, nous restons plus fidèle au texte anglais, oui parfois il y a certaines erreurs lorsque les paroles ne collent pas toujours aux images, mais ça arrive des erreurs merde ! Et honnêtement je comprend mieux les paroles en anglais que celles de France 😑

Could somebody explain why there's a French Canadian and French European version for everything? Are the languages truly that different? For me that's like having dubs for American English vs British English.
They are not very different in term of singing in Disney songs. I grew up with the Lion King 2 from France (I'm from Quebec) and I never knew it was European since I've heard the Canadian one... But in term of expressions, yes there are some very different expressions..
I think I like European French better.
There are small (but noticeable) differences between how the locals in the two countries speak. Sometimes a person from Québec might use different vocabulary, or might use a shortened form of a sentence, for example.

+Joseph Tardieff Well as much as the comments before hold some truth about the differences between Quebec and France way of speaking... this isn't the actual reason. There is a law here in Canada that oblige every movies to come out the same day as the American one. Since Quebec official language is french, they have to dubbed a french version so that any movie can come out at the right time in virtu of the law. In France, as long as i'm aware of, they don't and never had such a law. Many years ago (years 1990 and Disney period) it wasn't rare that a dubbed french version from France was released several weeks to a few months later and like that both place ended up with they own versions. As to why they never used the same version...well truthfully i don't know. Must be a cultural and pride thing. Things are slightly different since then for ether Quebec or France but the Canadian law is not the only law to be considered in this case. Quebec has many laws concerning the protection of it's language and of the things considered '' Made in Quebec" and those laws touches every sectors. Movie industry included. So still today, Quebec does dubbed there own versions and France do so as well. Results... two french version. Which i agree must be confusing for the non-french speakers. But what can we do? This is the way things are!!!!

I'm french and this comment made me laugh so hard (in a good way) because this is definitely true, our french versions can sound senseless sometimes (even I, sometimes, am like "wtf are those lyrics") and "Ce rêve bleu" doesn't mean anything at all. But I think it feels "weird" for us because the Canadian versions are way more formal than ours, and the canadian singers's voices are more mature even when the characters are 16 or 18 years old ^^ Also, canadian lyrics are really close to the english lyrics and since french and english are two different languages, it's really hard to translate in order to say exactly the same thing, and sometimes it sounds out of the rhythm :/ that's just my own opinion but sometimes I like some canadian version better and despise some french versions ^^
Anissa I definitely agree with you! Even I love more European French versions than Canadian French ones even though I'm Canadian. Sometimes I wish there could be a movie with Canadian voices and French lyrics (because most of the time I love the french lyrics more) I think it would be amazing!

J'ai grandi avec les doublages européens et je n'avais encore jamais essayé les doublages québécois. Honnêtement même si les voix des héroïnes sonnent plus matures elles sont aussi belles que les européennes, ça ne fait juste pas le même effet quand on les écoute.
Cependant même s'il est vrai que les paroles québécois sont plus proches des originaux que les européennes je trouve la traduction plus maladroite et moins jolie avec les versions québécoises.
Les seules versions Québécoises qui sont mieux que les Française, c'est pour Merida et Anna. Le reste, les Françaises sont meilleures, pour moi.

I don't speak French so I don't actually know how different they are from each other, but apparently different enough to go through that much effort. xD

I need to see them more than once in french european. ^^ It was more easy when the disney movies only had one french dub (which has began in 1989 with the little mermaid...)

Though the only song that fits Pocahontas very well is "If I Never Knew You" french canadian version :) (the french version is nice too, but the fr. canadian is my fav'!)
