I get the idea that they thought it sounded really cool but the setting goes against it. Like, imagine instead, an old gunslinger spotting a young guy reaching for his gun and stops him by going “A man don’t reach for his gun unless he’s ready to kill.” And the young guy stops and realises can’t. I think this is just the classic “Writer/director already has an idea for a story and just slaps an existing IP onto it” it’s why you get shows that break continuity for the stupidest reasons.

My dad has been a fan since ‘77. Not only the movies and shows, but he’s read over 200 Star Wars books (canon and EU) and we chat all the time about our favorite stuff. He stopped reading High Republic after the first few and said he has absolutely zero interest in even turning this show on. That says more to me than any critic score ever could.

In the original Battlestar Galactica, way back in 1978, they had an episode where Adama saves the Galactica by using his understanding of "physics" by emptying a damaged section of the ship of oxygen, thereby preventing the fire from spreading. Sure, all humans who went to elementary school learnt that about fire (needing oxygen), but I still remember being amazed by that simple scene from way back when as a kid. Not sure if this comment actually implies that the writers are dumber than grade-school kids, or just that even a cheesy show from the 70s outclasses this one.

I don't know. I loved Obi-Wan, it was a fantastic show made for fans of the prequels. Seeing the scenes with Anakin and Obi training at the temple was awesome. Also seeing Hayden as Vader was just the best.

I grew up in the 70s and 80s loving Star Wars. I use to feel sad for my friends who said Star Wars was "stupid" or "silly" and just didn't get it. Now I am envious of them because they have avoided the last 25 years of mostly disappointments that I have had to endure. I have to admit it - I have finally given up hope.
The positive thing about it (genuinely) is that it's grossly disconnected and out of place for the Star Wars franchise that I feel zero motivation to watch it. If there was an original character in it I might've felt like I'd be missing something.
The good thing is Drinker watches this garbage and gives his honest two cents, so the rest of us can spare our time for something worthwhile. The hero we might not deserve, but who we definitely need.

I haven't even seen the show, only watched reviews, and even I know this statement of yours is missing a lot nuance to the situation. The Jedi was super hesitant to do anything, and only fought back when daggers were thrown at her, which makes sense.

Honestly I think the show portrays jedi very well. Sol is a great character. Portrays jedi values well while also sharing the same weaknesses that brought the order down in the first place (naivity and overconfidence)
Star Wars is like that family member you used to love and helped you through really rough times in your life. You used to want to root for them to turn their life around but now they’re under a bridge smoking crack and threatening to cut your head off any time you come near them. @@fabianor4499 The phantom menace was the low point of the prequels, they went up from there, and phantom menace wasn't THAT bad. It had some redeeming qualities and moments. The prequels were economically viable, people kept coming to see them. Viewership for the sequel triology actually went downhill.

Star wars gave us Leia a strong, capable, clever, likable young woman who was was one of the pillars of not only the series itself but also the entire genre... How far we have fallen.
I think "likeable" is a bit of a stretch. I personally didn't like her character till she stopped behaving like a self entitled twat. Took almost three films.
It really strikes me how the characters in so many of these shows/films anymore just look like people in costumes acting in a show/film rather than a character in the show/film's universe. I've also noticed this in a bunch of animated stuff where the voice "acting" literally just sounds like the person saying the lines, as opposed to, you know, doing a voice for the character. Not that it can't be done without putting on a voice, it just often sounds so "non-acting". It's annoying.

@@alonsoJ2002 Noise is just inaccurate, but the fire actually makes sense for the x wings since they didn't have oxygen masks in their ships, so that means that there was oxygen in their cockpit which would have caused an explosion. Also, laughing at a joke about fire in space that was tied into how Disney quite frankly isn't very good at writing women is by no means hating women. What's truly insulting is Disney thinking that a well written woman is just one who acts like an unlikable man.

Both hedge funds that are trying to dominate say the same thing. Stock owners arent happy. Stock prices have declined around 40 % from 2021. The streaming has loses of around 11 billion.

My theory is this show was based on _resentment:_ KK got angry at all the 'criticism' from Star Wars fans since 2017, so she hired someone with implicit or explicit instructions that this show's aim was to be the opposite of a fan-pleaser. That explains the quote we've all seen where Harvey's assistant asks one of the directors what she knows about Star Wars, and when the latter responds _"Harrison Ford runs around space with a giant dog?"_ Harvey's assistant laughs & says "You're hired!" It's the only plausible explanation. They're not even hiding the fact that the destruction of the lore and angering of traditional fans _is the end goal._

And Andor, Rogue One, and one season of Mandalorian were any good. Rogue One had such a bad production it’s a miracle it’s even watchable, and nobody including Disney cared about Andor so the creators could actually focus on making a good product. It would have been nothing for a jedi to use the force to simply redirect the knife heading toward the civilian, and use her saber to redirect the knife coming at her. She would have sensed her opponent's intention and known the knife thrown at the civilian was a diversion.
Yeah seems everything being made is about being gay. That's the actual storyline with lightsabers and special effects just to dress it differently. If they are making everything the same, surely it will burn out for majority of people over time who want to see some actual diversity in film, and not the same exact thing with a slightly different dress up.

He had his role, he made sense and he was a great addition to the show, be it representation or simply writer's choice. It's sad that actually good series' with a lot of heart and talent poured into them remain indie projects at best, and are left hanging with no hope of continuing at worst, while bad series' like this have millions of dollars and Holywood backing and are given a chance to become an actual series.

I actually watched it, and I can say that it’s a solid fun star wars adventure. Like a 7/10. That is, as long as you can deal with lesbians being mentioned once and people of colour existing, but I feel like you’re to fragile for that.

I get the idea that they thought it sounded really cool but the setting goes against it. Like, imagine instead, an old gunslinger spotting a young guy reaching for his gun and stops him by going “A man don’t reach for his gun unless he’s ready to kill.” And the young guy stops and realises can’t.
I think this is just the classic “Writer/director already has an idea for a story and just slaps an existing IP onto it” it’s why you get shows that break continuity for the stupidest reasons.

You can get fire in the vacuum of space if something has its own oxidizer on board but I’m not gonna give Disney Star Wars that much credit. That’s also not how claims behave in space or a vacuum.

In the original Battlestar Galactica, way back in 1978, they had an episode where Adama saves the Galactica by using his understanding of "physics" by emptying a damaged section of the ship of oxygen, thereby preventing the fire from spreading. Sure, all humans who went to elementary school learnt that about fire (needing oxygen), but I still remember being amazed by that simple scene from way back when as a kid. Not sure if this comment actually implies that the writers are dumber than grade-school kids, or just that even a cheesy show from the 70s outclasses this one.

I grew up in the 70s and 80s loving Star Wars. I use to feel sad for my friends who said Star Wars was "stupid" or "silly" and just didn't get it. Now I am envious of them because they have avoided the last 25 years of mostly disappointments that I have had to endure. I have to admit it - I have finally given up hope.

The positive thing about it (genuinely) is that it's grossly disconnected and out of place for the Star Wars franchise that I feel zero motivation to watch it. If there was an original character in it I might've felt like I'd be missing something.

The people complaining about this show's plot are just too stupid to understand things that don't make sense. I totally get Disney Star Wars. The Jedi put all their Force powers into perfecting their gaydars. And while sure, the Republic eventually falls, at least they were having fabulous sex until the very end.
Man I miss being excited for starwars content. Even I had my doubts about Andor - but after watching it I told a friend "wait so you're telling me they CAN do something cool with a character nobody cared about?"

I haven't even seen the show, only watched reviews, and even I know this statement of yours is missing a lot nuance to the situation. The Jedi was super hesitant to do anything, and only fought back when daggers were thrown at her, which makes sense.

Honestly I think the show portrays jedi very well. Sol is a great character. Portrays jedi values well while also sharing the same weaknesses that brought the order down in the first place (naivity and overconfidence)
Star Wars is like that family member you used to love and helped you through really rough times in your life. You used to want to root for them to turn their life around but now they’re under a bridge smoking crack and threatening to cut your head off any time you come near them. The prequels were economically viable, people kept coming to see them. Viewership for the sequel triology actually went downhill.

It really strikes me how the characters in so many of these shows/films anymore just look like people in costumes acting in a show/film rather than a character in the show/film's universe.
I've also noticed this in a bunch of animated stuff where the voice "acting" literally just sounds like the person saying the lines, as opposed to, you know, doing a voice for the character. Not that it can't be done without putting on a voice, it just often sounds so "non-acting". It's annoying.

My theory is this show was based on _resentment:_ KK got angry at all the 'criticism' from Star Wars fans since 2017, so she hired someone with implicit or explicit instructions that this show's aim was to be the opposite of a fan-pleaser. That explains the quote we've all seen where Harvey's assistant asks one of the directors what she knows about Star Wars, and when the latter responds _"Harrison Ford runs around space with a giant dog?"_ Harvey's assistant laughs & says "You're hired!" It's the only plausible explanation. They're not even hiding the fact that the destruction of the lore and angering of traditional fans _is the end goal._

And Andor, Rogue One, and one season of Mandalorian were any good. Rogue One had such a bad production it’s a miracle it’s even watchable, and nobody including Disney cared about Andor so the creators could actually focus on making a good product. I have no doubts season 2 of it will be much, much worse now that LucasFilms and Disney realized people loved the first season.

Yeah seems everything being made is about being gay. That's the actual storyline with lightsabers and special effects just to dress it differently. The fact that Jecki Lon a Padawan starts of disrespecting Yord Fandor a fully trained Jedi Knight who's only real crime seems to be following the rules, you knew what type of show this was going to be.

I actually watched it, and I can say that it’s a solid fun star wars adventure. Like a 7/10. That is, as long as you can deal with lesbians being mentioned once and people of colour existing, but I feel like you’re to fragile for that.

These people have said over and over that if a character doesn't look like you or isn't exactly like you in some other significant way, it can't represent you. Therefore as someone who isn't black, gay or female I can't watch the new Star Wars stuff. It's their logic!
I've been told repeatedly over the years that Star Wars isn't made for me, but then I'm the one to get blamed when the franchise starts floundering because I don't support something that wasn't made for me.
I am sure it is a coincidence that their is not a single White, straight man as any main character in this series....I think I am being racist for even thinking such a thing....

It's stuff like this that make you really appreciate movies like "Godzilla Minus One" and "Puss in Boots: TLW."

Ryan George is going to have a field day with the plot of this one I suspect. I know he stays clear of most 'political' stuff, but in terms of sheer plot-line ridiculousness he has a treasure trove to tap in to here.

@@rollerskdude Oh, absolutely. Enough so to make the Thunderscreech sound like a pin dropping by comparison. In space though, apparently they're so loud they break the laws of physics.
Technically, there could be source of oxidant coming from the leak. But it would look like a blow torch, or rocket thrust. It would NOT look like a cozy campfire.

Understand this: they are making these bad movies and TV shows with a bunch of women in purpose:
1. They use these failing shows as tax write-offs so they don't have to pay taxes.
2. They hire incompetent women to take company money and pay excessive salaries to women and potentially launch their careers.
3. They use these opportunities to destroy legacy stories where men were the heroes, even when the stories they are pushing make no sense.
4. They use the Disney platform to push their ideologies and create "conversations" about identity politics.
5. They get litteral points for DEI and favorable loans from conglomerates like Blackrock which manages trillions in assets.
It's all calculated, and they do not care about losing money as long as they can reach their goals.
