Talent versus hard work? It's both. Talent will only take you so far if you're not prepared to put in the work to realise that potential. All these ladies are hard working as evidenced by the impressive amount of music they have produced and recorded over their brief career together. Having said that there comes a stage beyond talent where one is obsessively driven by one's inherent ability. As the saying goes "Talent does what it can. Genius does what it must." That. I think is the case with the dark haired guitarist/pianist Miyako Watanabe here. Miyako is a true musical prodigy; a genius the other girls in the band call " the golden touch". She has written over half the music for the band, is a multi instrumentalist, a concert standard classical pianist and performance perfectionist. She is so driven by her outstanding, innate brilliance that she even preformed a full concert last year whilst four and a half months pregnant. That is dedication to your art above and beyond the call of duty.
I think the answer to your question is 50/50. They are all extremely talented, but to be this good every time (yes, every time, no deviation, no “off night”, no, “album fillers”) takes dedication and endless practice. Wait until you see “Set the World on Fire”, which has the most perfectly synchronised yet ludicrously fast guitar solo by both guitarists. That’s hours of practice by both of them, together, to make sure they are perfectly together each and every time. As you said, they are all so gifted it’s unfair to try and rank them. What it’s fair to say is that as talented as they are, that talent is multiplied exponentially by those individuals playing together in one band. They are more than the sum of their parts. Best band I’ve come across in 45 years of listening to rock music. Great reaction to my favourite band (well, actually, my obsession would be a fairer description.)

Technically the chopin e tude is the start to swan song. Lot of uploads I have seen on the song infuriates me from the idiocy, like what song starts with a backtrack of a piano/keyboard, none. Lovebites has my fandom hands down, not for the music, not for the visage they present the group to be but every young lady and the production team is a driving force to reckon with as a whole. But I will agree they produce fantastic pieces however in my opinion they brought back the essence of great music effectively and masterfully without wasting a moment. Oh hey, hard work is always the most important thing! Everyone who's high-level at anything really has put in a lot of work to get there, and it takes constant practice. Talent can give you a head start, and maybe give you more potential than other people, but you have to work to really unlock that potential. And even if you "don't have talent", you can still work at a thing and become good at it. Maybe not the best there is, but that's ok! Honestly I think a big part of the Japanese scene is down to after-school clubs, where everyone has to sign up to do ~something~, so you get a lot of kids taking up music and forming bands and working towards performances. There's parents getting kids music lessons too, but it feels like more people are given the opportunity to get into it - when they're young too, which is a good time to pick up an instrument and let it click! And it means the rock music scene is way more broad and diverse than you might see in other countries, less gatekeeping, that kind of thing

Most Japanese people start to play any instrument at the age of 3. This makes this huge difference, as most people in the Ocidente starts to give any thoughts about instruments when we are about 13, 14, or 15. They have class on music and instruments. Miyako is a pianist for a long time and a guitarrist from her adolescence . But the musical background was there, so she does not start from scratch.
Before watching. This band is so well put together. Waiting for their return from hiatus this spring (with Miho? Hope so!) But this song showcase their versatility. Somehow I don't think so! She played recently with Tokyo rock band ( they just do covers) at the Yotsuya Outbreak!! ( look on her Instagram ) The haitus has gone on too long!! To walk away from the ultimate triumph in world music almost sounds a bit selfish. However, she may not like the direction they were taking or she could not take the pressure of being famous or it could have been her Father's death!! Whatever it is I cannot see her going back. I've been around a long time and I know a few whose names have made it big actually 4, two of which could not take it, one resorted to drugs and managed to come out of the stupor through 3 high profile rock bands, the other quit literally and never looked back and he said it just recently again that it was not for him and the stress left him!! I would be surprised if Miho returned but if she did then the world watch out!!

If the vocalist gets pregnant, the band will be in a state of suspension, so Miho is temporarily leaving to buy some time. My guess is that Asami is already pregnant. I think Asami will come back in a year and Miho will return. This is unavoidable because it is unique to female bands.

These women are extremely talented, skillful and versatile exceptional musicians. Their main influences are Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Helloween, Dragonforce, Slayer, Deep Purple, Angra, Judas Priest, and even Gary Moore, but they have been developing their unique style. They really shine in their live performances. As real musicians, they are not limited to a specific genre, although they mostly play thrash and power metal; so this song is one example of how versatile they are. My next recommendations are “Thunder vengeance”, “Set the world on fire”, “Shadowmaker”, “Holy war”, “Break the wall”, “Hammer of wrath”, “Scream for me”, “Raise some hell”, etc. So these are my recommendations and, as stated before, it’s preferable to react to their live performances, but avoid Bloodstock concert (bad audio). I disagree when others say they don't move around much and say they lack some stage presence. I feel the exact opposite. Because of their looks and excellence and mastery in their performance, they do not need to run around the stage. LOVEBITES is a new band founded by Miho (bass) and Haruna (drums) in 2016, but made a major debut only half a year after the first stage, and expanded overseas six months later. Mainly active mainly in Japan / UK / EU, he immediately attracted the attention of music related people and has already appeared in major metal festivals in each country including "WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018". They wear white outfits because almost all of their members have a petite physique and need to stand out on stage. It is a band with amazing playing technique and musical sensibility that cannot be imagined from their appearance.
Oh my gosh, you jumped right into the deep end of the pool with this one! Very few reactors start with this, but congratulations! Welcome to the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. They have themselves said that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). To your question about talent vs hard work percentage I don’t think there is one easy answer. I am a multi-genre, multi-instrument musician with 40+ yrs of professional playing. I’ve played with hundreds of musicians and from what I’ve witnessed everyone is unique. There are those whose natural talent is so dominant that they don’t seem to have to work that hard, although I know they really do. Then there are those who have achieved so much by the amount of time, hard work and sweat needed to do so. Is one better than the other? Personally I don’t think so though others may have a different opinion. At the end of the day we, the listeners are the winners who get to listen to great performances no matter what style of music or instrument is played. Loved your reaction by the way.

Miyako can play a lot more instruments well, but guitar is her main instrument and she played piano from a very young age. Personally I'm a big fan of drummers, I just love this instrument - ok those percussion instruments - and Haruna, the drummer on Lovebites is fantastic - her timing is brilliant. Talent versus hard work? It's both. Talent will only take you so far if you're not prepared to put in the work to realise that potential. All these ladies are hard working as evidenced by the impressive amount of music they have produced and recorded over their brief career together. Having said that there comes a stage beyond talent where one is obsessively driven by one's inherent ability. As the saying goes "Talent does what it can. Genius does what it must." That. I think is the case with the dark haired guitarist/pianist Miyako Watanabe here. Miyako is a true musical prodigy; a genius the other girls in the band call " the golden touch". She has written over half the music for the band, is a multi instrumentalist, a concert standard classical pianist and performance perfectionist. She is so driven by her outstanding, innate brilliance that she even preformed a full concert last year whilst four and a half months pregnant. That is dedication to your art above and beyond the call of duty.

I think the answer to your question is 50/50. They are all extremely talented, but to be this good every time (yes, every time, no deviation, no “off night”, no, “album fillers”) takes dedication and endless practice. Wait until you see “Set the World on Fire”, which has the most perfectly synchronised yet ludicrously fast guitar solo by both guitarists. That’s hours of practice by both of them, together, to make sure they are perfectly together each and every time. As you said, they are all so gifted it’s unfair to try and rank them. What it’s fair to say is that as talented as they are, that talent is multiplied exponentially by those individuals playing together in one band. They are more than the sum of their parts. Best band I’ve come across in 45 years of listening to rock music. Great reaction to my favourite band (well, actually, my obsession would be a fairer description.)

Thank you for your reaction to Lovebites and their song Edge Of The World. It’s one of their more emotional E songs (Edge Of The World, Epilogue, Empty Daydream). The other more emotional songs are A Frozen Serenade and Swan Song (listen to it with the Chopin piano etude). The songs on the heavier side are Thunder Vengeance, Break The Wall, Set The World On Fire, Hammer Of Wrath, Winds Of Transylvania. The song that gets the most attention from all the reaction channels is Holy War.
Technically the chopin e tude is the start to swan song. Lot of uploads I have seen on the song infuriates me from the idiocy, like what song starts with a backtrack of a piano/keyboard, none. Lovebites has my fandom hands down, not for the music, not for the visage they present the group to be but every young lady and the production team is a driving force to reckon with as a whole. But I will agree they produce fantastic pieces however in my opinion they brought back the essence of great music effectively and masterfully without wasting a moment. I pray these young ladies continue to thrive.

You haven't even seen how good Miyako is really on the piano here, for that check out "Swan Song with Chopin Intro", also they don't really show in this song how good they are in playing dual guitar solos. "When Destinies align" is great for that because it has maybe the longest dual solo.
But all in all this of course a fantastic song since it shows also their softer and more prog style.
I think the longest M&M dual solo is in "We the United", which is the unofficial anthem of Wolfpack

Oh hey, hard work is always the most important thing! Everyone who's high-level at anything really has put in a lot of work to get there, and it takes constant practice. Talent can give you a head start, and maybe give you more potential than other people, but you have to work to really unlock that potential. And even if you "don't have talent", you can still work at a thing and become good at it. Maybe not the best there is, but that's ok!
Honestly I think a big part of the Japanese scene is down to after-school clubs, where everyone has to sign up to do ~something~, so you get a lot of kids taking up music and forming bands and working towards performances. There's parents getting kids music lessons too, but it feels like more people are given the opportunity to get into it - when they're young too, which is a good time to pick up an instrument and let it click! And it means the rock music scene is way more broad and diverse than you might see in other countries, less gatekeeping, that kind of thing

Most Japanese people start to play any instrument at the age of 3. This makes this huge difference, as most people in the Ocidente starts to give any thoughts about instruments when we are about 13, 14, or 15. They have class on music and instruments. Miyako is a pianist for a long time and a guitarrist from her adolescence . But the musical background was there, so she does not start from scratch.

Somehow I don't think so! She played recently with Tokyo rock band ( they just do covers) at the Yotsuya Outbreak!! ( look on her Instagram ) The haitus has gone on too long!! To walk away from the ultimate triumph in world music almost sounds a bit selfish. However, she may not like the direction they were taking or she could not take the pressure of being famous or it could have been her Father's death!! Whatever it is I cannot see her going back. I've been around a long time and I know a few whose names have made it big actually 4, two of which could not take it, one resorted to drugs and managed to come out of the stupor through 3 high profile rock bands, the other quit literally and never looked back and he said it just recently again that it was not for him and the stress left him!! I would be surprised if Miho returned but if she did then the world watch out!!

These women are extremely talented, skillful and versatile exceptional musicians. Their main influences are Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Helloween, Dragonforce, Slayer, Deep Purple, Angra, Judas Priest, and even Gary Moore, but they have been developing their unique style. They really shine in their live performances. As real musicians, they are not limited to a specific genre, although they mostly play thrash and power metal; so this song is one example of how versatile they are. My next recommendations are “Thunder vengeance”, “Set the world on fire”, “Shadowmaker”, “Holy war”, “Break the wall”, “Hammer of wrath”, “Scream for me”, “Raise some hell”, etc. So these are my recommendations and, as stated before, it’s preferable to react to their live performances, but avoid Bloodstock concert (bad audio). Beyond epic. And the fact you state you couldn't take your eyes off them proves something I have said to other reactors. I disagree when others say they don't move around much and say they lack some stage presence. I feel the exact opposite. Because of their looks and excellence and mastery in their performance, they do not need to run around the stage. They move around when they want, and regardless, I think their stage presence is amazing and refreshing in the metal scene.

LOVEBITES is a new band founded by Miho (bass) and Haruna (drums) in 2016, but made a major debut only half a year after the first stage, and expanded overseas six months later. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics.
They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." To your question about talent vs hard work percentage I don’t think there is one easy answer. I am a multi-genre, multi-instrument musician with 40+ yrs of professional playing. I’ve played with hundreds of musicians and from what I’ve witnessed everyone is unique. There are those whose natural talent is so dominant that they don’t seem to have to work that hard, although I know they really do. Then there are those who have achieved so much by the amount of time, hard work and sweat needed to do so. Is one better than the other? Personally I don’t think so though others may have a different opinion. At the end of the day we, the listeners are the winners who get to listen to great performances no matter what style of music or instrument is played.

About Miyako, the piano player. In the studio video for Burden of Time, she can be seen playing the guitar and the keyboard simultaneously
Miyako can play a lot more instruments well, but guitar is her main instrument and she played piano from a very young age. Personally I'm a big fan of drummers, I just love this instrument - ok those percussion instruments - and Haruna, the drummer on Lovebites is fantastic - her timing is brilliant.
Regarding your question: Talent helps, but if you don't cultivate and develop this gift with repetition after repetition, with hard and overly hard practice, practice and practice again, then you will never reach the level, the professionalism, which these artists, these virtuosos of Lovebites or Epica, or Nightwish - you name it - have achieved.

I would say talent/hard work is 50/50. Many people work really hard but don’t have talent, many people with talent won’t do the work to reach their goals
