- Here is the great classic "The Haircut Song (Original)" by Ray Stevens, from the "I Have Returned" album. I will be posting more of original Ray Stevens songs, so subcribe to keep up to date.
This album is so underrated...every song on it were spot on hillarious.
Absolutely. I wore 2 tapes of this out in the 80s
Believe it or not, I first heard this song at the barber shop on the NATO base in Keflavik, Iceland while waiting to get a haircut.
wow. i first heard it this morning at home on long island ny. outrageous. was this a coincidence or was the barber shop playing it for fun?
Lol that's fabulous
I was in Iceland the summer of 1969. I was 15 at the time. I turned 16 later on on that year. I like a lot of the Ray Stevens songs.
I once read that the XO on that base was a Lieutenant.
How good is Ray Stevens?! Everything is Beautiful and The Haircut Song, two classics. 💜💜💜💜
This song hits home, especially now! I recently learned that my barber of 14 years resigned. He’s now working in a restaurant. Today I’m trying a barbershop three blocks west of my apartment. Being that I keep my hair short, I will look like Curley. I don’t think a barber could go wrong with that haircut. I could live with a born again barber, myself! Sounds the safest out of the Ray Stevens worthy barbers!!
Except for the way the born again barber's shop shook Ray down for all his cash and his watch too!
This is probably Ray Stevens best album overall, My dad always had him on at some point growing up.. 41 now and still love him
Love it! I’m from Coos Bay, Oregon. Used to listen to this in the Alibi on the jukebox. Great times and memories!
Me too!
Me Too . Go pirates
I am from Southeast Georgia my Dad was a logger I was helping top trees when I was 11 years old in 1987 until I turned 15 in 1991 that is rough work!!
A barber shop with a steeple. An usher led him to the barber chair- HILARIOUS.
That's almost possible in some of the little southern towns I've been in.
I know right?
Hey cousin!! Howdy!
I'm surprised he didn't say he was handed an offering plate.
I have been a devout fan of Mr. Stevens since I was a little kid. This is one of my most favorite songs
I can't believe this album wasn't more popular, every song is good
Where did those times go when we could have great music like this! Every time I hear this song, I almost roll on the floor laughing!
"I run this church for Loggers." Went through three cassettes of I Have Returned. Much fun.
Me too
He's consistent. 😁
We have loved this song since the 80s.
Yes finally the unseasored version.
I love Ray! I've shared his music with anyone who would listen and most loved him no matter their age or musical preference.
"What could possibly make me nervous" And he said "I'm Gay" and I said "Noooo problem" XD
Looked him dead in the eye and i told him, "im a logger, played football in high school"
Love Ray Stevens, and He's Always Got a Fan,I'm one 4ever 👍 😊.💌 😊.
This song just came flying back into my mind. Just started talking to someone who, when asked what he did for a living, he replied "I'm a logger" 😂😂😂😂😂
This song is so much more hilarious since I joined the military and now have to deal with weekly haircuts from numerous barbers.
Had to find this one to get the whole song. Love it
That second verse was the best in the whole song.
agreed, pity he took it out of later versions.
@@rexfariss5653 I suspect that at 6 minutes plus a lot of radio stations had a tough time fitting it into their formats! Take a verse out, it fit better!
And make sure you dont offend (certain) people
But for real the second verse is the fulcrum of the song. It goes macho to weird to religious. The running a church for loggers isnt as funny without the second verse. The juxtaposition makes it better because the first two verses are about masculinity.
@@rexfariss5653 ...they took it out for radio play, nazi and gay weren't words they wanted played on the radio back then
Good ol' Ray is always good for a laugh and pick me up with his music.
Have always loved Ray Stevens
Awesome! This whole album is hilarious, thanks for putting it up here.
I have been trying to find this version for a long time. thank you for posting this.

First heard this song while playing darts in a pub in Seoul, South Korea, back in 1988. Couldn't help but laugh - and ended up losing the game. Darn musicians...

This song is so right..The other day I went to a barber whom Id never been to before. He was deep in conversation with someone behind me.I wanted a beard trim no hair cut..The first thing he did was take a huge swipe right up the side of my head!!! I was so surprised I couldn't say a word!! went in looking for a beard trim came out looking like ww2 commando with a beard half an inch long...$60 bucks ...sigh..and everyone loved it lol...
My fav part "Whap Whap"
Mine too! My mom and I always make references to this and no one knows what we're talking about!

@@charliegeorge. Oh.😳
You don't see too many barber shops with a steeple.
This IS the original version of this Ray Stevens song.. The newest one leaves out the second verse, (I think they must have received flack from the Gay folks) thats pathetic..
Well the second version also has a music video, and with the nazi references they might have wanted to cut it so they could possibly play it on TV.
That said that second verse does go a bit far in some regards, I'm bisexual and adore dark/offensive humor so really doesn't bother me at all, but I can see why some people wouldn't take too well to a lot of it.
What's sad is that he doesn't even really say anything negative about the second guy. It's more of a parody of the dark, gothic extremist lifestyle than about his sexuality. And it totally ruins the joke about Ray not being comfortable in his new environment. Gone is the second reference to the logger joke (the third being in the southern church barber) and the funny description of his haircut and how he fit in at the West Coast. In actuality, the Josie Cotton song "Johnny Are you Queer?" is more offensive in that it could be interpreted that that being gay is not okay. It's just overly sensitive nonsense. Just wait folks. Pretty soon we're all going to get offended by the word Taco because of the negative connotations it has on Mexican people. Which means all Taco Bell's will become Spanish American Bell.
Talk about your 'bad influence' on the internet. How about we all just sit back, relax, check all our uptightness at the door, smile at everyone sincerely, (no matter what their colour, creed, political affiliation, sexual orientation, man, woman, old, young), and just enjoy a man who writes and sings songs, (and he is no 'songbird'), about simple things in life and how we need to step back from all our useless personal ideals, and just have a giggle or simply smile at so many 'Real' things made fun of, or just plain hilarious, tongue in cheek, unbridled Ray Stevens. Try it, yea that's it, squeeze your arse cheeks and bellow out a good hearty laugh at ourselves and the world....I think it's time we all just 'EXHALE' !!!!!!
Loggers should of been offended...... not the gays lol
i'm sure there are quite a few gay punk rock hair stylist in the world...the joke is middle ground...
Barber chair was a Peterbilt.
That's so funny
is there any more people with any poetry they would hoke too hear on radio
im a logger
I'm a logger!
Love the random latin
domnius master
possum - I am able
pax - peace
post mortem - after death
et duci and led
puella - girl
can't catch the other 2 words
dominus possum pox probiscus post mortem et tu Brute puella carborundum
Thank you!
I run this church for loggers
.......I SAID A TRIM....... NOT THE YUL BRYNNER SPECIAL......!?!?!?!?!
he’s funny
Gay punk rocker part is the best part of the song
I run this church for loggers...
I'm secure in my manhood
You might look like Larry,Moe,or Curly if the stranger cuts your hair .....get a barber you have known LOL
I for real read this right ass we was saying it
Run this church for loggins
If this song came out today, the SJWs would throw a fit over the story about the LA barbershop.
He said, I'm gay. ,
Auto re Stevens
Half Baptist + Half Catholic = *Cathtist*
