I bought both versions of Bollocks when they came out. The UK had to rush out the album because French imports were flooding in to the country. There's the version with the pink wordless cover with the submission single and a different running order and the version with the tracklisting minus submission listed and there were copies that included a poster. I consider both to be first pressings. There were a lot of variants at the time.
I have day of release copies of most of the albums you showed. My Misfits Earth AD is transparent lime green vinyl, one of only 50 copies pressed. It came with a matching T-Shirt on release.
It's MEDIAN price not medium. Discogs has 4 different price analytics. Average Median Highest Lowest The median value is the middle point of the high and low prices it's sold for. Basing it on the market value but can be subjective on the condition of the record. You really have look at the grading because that's what determines the true value. IE. You might find "And Justice For All" for $30 because its in VG condition whereas someone has an NM copy for $150. This all can be determined in the sales history of a record. Keep diggin. Good luck!
@@BOBBRADLEYCHANNEL I figured so.lol Wasn't trying to be condescending. Just wanted to point that out. I've sold over 500 records on Discogs. Grading is everything to a lot of consumers.
Bob, good video. I found a copy of Kate Bush's the whole story at a UK flea market last year. I had a first press already, but wanted another as back-up. So I bought it for ten quid. It turns out that it was the German "white" label version - Discogs medium value $132. My best find to-date.
Being in the UK I have never heard the R.L. version. I have the UK first pressings plumb labels various others and most of the classic records from the USA. Just how good is the R.L.?
I have the 2008 Rhino repress of the "Bollocks" album. I like first presses but I'm always happy with a "good sounding" reissue. This was valuable information. I have the RL II but its a little scratchy sounding.
One of my biggest regrets in life is selling my copy of Siamese Dream 20 years ago. The one I had had this orange marbled effect going on on both records. Excuse me while I cry into my beer.
Hey BB, like the way you present, makes me smile... also, glad you mentioned that we buy music for the music not as investment property as many on utube seem to advocate! I still have my collection from 70s and 80s in my mum's attic, all wrapped up. Will merge it with my current one soon, but never looked at their value. All first pressings, but also all first love relationships! But who knows bands like The Chameleons, The Sound, Trust, Volcano....hahaha, but I do have the Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Led Z. for the music!!!
Very logical points that I have continually had to tell usually baby boomers who retain more sentimentality than market/collecting knowledge....it's understandable. I always try to educate, not sound dismissive. Nostalgia is powerful stuff...these are the folks who read 20 year old price guides and double their value, because they think the economy always is expanding. Ya gotta bring them back to earth. When they don't get the logical collecting related points, sometimes I've had to haul out the well-worn phrase, "Can't play the cover." This is reserved for the individuals who hang on to this notion of "value" like they do brand loyalty...it's a consumer psychology thing sometimes. Very interesting video, and nice delivery and voice. Thanks for not playing music in the background...always distracts.
Love Vinyl freak secret collector information . Record stores hate me , because I know more than they do . One store won't let you look at used boxes that just come in . They want to research them first .
Good advice, Bob. Buyer beware and all that, not just with records of course. Gain some knowledge on your subject and then go out and buy what you like/can afford then if you happen to hit on a bargain ... bonus! If it’s a favourite album and you got it for next to nothing then you aren’t going to want to sell it, perhaps. If that knowledge means you spot something that’s not your favourite yet is hugely underpriced, buy it, sell it and fund more record buying 👍🏻
"Egg", "The Civil Surface" Japanese press at the end. The last of three (3) released by "Egg". A great Canterbury Prog Record. Some of the better motifs played on this record reappear on the first "Hatfield and the North" album about a year later.
I must be missing something here. Sub-mission is on the UK cover, just not in the same place. A few of the titles were just moved around. Right? I have a Def Leppard Pyromania import press that is similar in the fact that it doesn't list the songs in the same order they are on the record itself, like it is on US covers.
Quite the nice pile of vinyl Bob. What I like about your videos ..you are a player obviously and show good either player records or art records. Which is kinda reminds me of myself! I do like those bass lines also lol keep rockin

That's right. The very rare ones have the one sided Submission single, SPOTS sticker on the shrink-wrap and with a Bollocks collage poster. I have one of those. P.S. White inner sleeve is also dated 10/77 to complete it.

Gonna have to revisit my Pistols LP. It's an import that doesn't have Submission and some reason I think my back cover is different. One of my friends has a version with a Submission sticker added to the back.
I found Metallica "Ride the Lightning" in the trash in perfect condition..seriously looks like the person who threw it out never once played it. It's on Megaforce records. "For whom the bell tolls" is spelled wrong, and so is Kirk Hammett's name. I also have Dead Kennedys "Fresh fruit.." with the orange cover, and the heads are on the back cover. This has a "promotional copy not for sale" sticker on the back. Would those records be worth anything? I've been collecting records a long time, but not for value, just to have and listen. Recently though, I've been going through my collection and wondering the value, as I've gotten them from all sorts of different places.
Wow, your record collection is similar to mine. I have those albums by Miles Davis and John Coltrane as well as never mind the bollox by the sex pistols. In rock it's predominantly punk but it's the kill em all album by Metallica that would interest me. I love the song - jump in the fire.
@@BOBBRADLEYCHANNEL I lost my only son a few years back. He loved Vinyl.
