I was thinking the same thing until I looked closer and you can see what he was talking about regarding their condition. Some of those were so badly water damaged that the covers were falling apart in their hands. I'm sure the Hendrix, King Crimson, etc all had pretty substantial water damage to the covers. I've had to pass on some good records for that exact reason. Sure, you can buy them for the vinyl, but if you already have a copy and the vinyl isn't an upgrade, it isn't really worth it.
I am a music head and I recognized all of the records that you went through. The Jimi Hendrix is a bootleg! It is an unauthorized release. I saw another rare record that you put back! It is a Pink Floyd compilation record. The cover is filled with small square photos of oddities. One of the pictures is of a Dentist office and the name of the Dentist is Dr. Fang. Dr. Fang caught wind of it and sued Pink Floyd. They had to change the cover! If it is the original one with Dr. Fang it is worth some fairly serious money because there weren't many printed! As soon as I saw it I said "I know what the rare record is!" but I was wrong!
The Pink Floyd compilation is called "A Nice Pair". It is a ctually their first 2 albums in a double LP. Some versions have a censored cover; one of the photos depicts Rick Wright in a field of cannabis plants.
Bootlegs have value, usually live shows. But yeah that are you experienced record is probably worth nothing. Zeppelin bootlegs can go for absolutely insane amounts
It's been that way at many of the garage sales around here for a number of years now. "well on eBay they are listed as this", "someone already offered me that"... some people go as far as print out a sold listing and tape it to the item... Stereo components have exploded in price over the past decade. The rural flea markets which were the last holdout for finding the best deals have started to go down the same path now.
@SS88doubleturn A lot of people don't want to listen to music on their phone, I for one hate using the Music app on my iPhone, constantly trying to upsell you to a subscription. Nano's go for $10-90 (or more if sealed) on eBay, depending on gen and condition.
The original "Some Girls" isn't exactly rare, thousands were sold before the cover was changed. The Aerosmith album is actually a 2nd pressing, the cover pic was enlarged when "Dream On" hit the charts. The first pressings would be considered rare.
The Hendrix record is a TMOQ boot, and cannot be sold on either Discogs or eBay. But if you want to keep it for your own collection, it's a good find. There were actually 11 different versions.
CP - I have an idea for you. I would LOVE to see a "start to finish" vid from you. You buying a specific item, taking pics of the item, how you list the item (don't have to get too specific), taking an offer on that item, how you pack the item, and how you print-off labels and mail it. Love watching you buy stuff - just wonder what happens after that part is done. IDK, just an idea?
I agree. I’m trying to get into this. It would be cool to see it done by someone with experience and that I also watch frequently. A lot of work but Great idea!
I got lucky and found a copy of that Hendrix record. I had the opportunity to dig around some boxes before they were going to be donated at a local goodwill. Took a massive stack of amazing records for free! Didn’t know it was Hendrix until I gave it a spin. Great find !!!!!
Nice find on that Hendrix "bootleg" album! However, you actually have TWO rare albums in your garage sale haul. That Rolling Stones album "Some Girls" is a 1st pressing (1978), which cover art has since been changed in future pressings. The way you can tell is, it has the image of Marilyn Monroe in the upper left hand corner, next to the Keith Richards photo. The Stones were sued by the estate of Marilyn Monroe for using her image without consent and were forced to change all future pressings of "Some Girls" and have her photo taken off. If your copy is in decent shape, you have a RARE album in your possession! Score!!
Your "Some Girls" LP is pretty cool, too. That cover was only out for a little while before they had to pull it because they didn't have permission to put those famous women's faces on it. So nice find!
I once bought enough while on vacation that I rented a uhaul trailer to bring it home. Funny thing, one of the items that I got sold to someone in the city where I had purchased it. So I shipped it back.
Nice find in that Hendrix record... I'm jealous. Your Stones record is a nice one too... thats the first cover with Lucille Ball & others, that was pulled & edited. Thanks for sharing.
tak'n a chance writing you but maybe you have some helpful information. Is there any way to get any of the pops or bad spots on an album . ;I have a small collection I like. I used to wash them with warm water and dawn when I was able to play them. I am thinking about getting another reciever or a way to play the albums.
My heart was racing over and over seeing that album cover with 16 Polaroids thinking it might be "We Are Yatsura", but no way, all the other music was too normal.
Don't let internet prices fool you. Anyone can ask anything but it still has to be paid. I bought this album only recently at a professional market trader ( didn't know anything about music but of course he had the infamous vinyl price guide ) and managed to haggle him down from 7 to 5 euro's... And the album was in VG/NM condition. I never pay more dan 15 euro's for a used LP, they simply are not worth more and even the "rarer" albums come in at least 10K-20K copies world wide... It simply didn't pay out to press less in a production run... I own about 2000 albums, Hippy, 60's, rock and metal. If i were to add everything up according to the price guides you might end up close to 100K. If my car broke down and I had to get some quick cash and sell them all a dealer probably will offer 1000 euro at the very, very best... That's value for you ;-).
Any time someone gives you the line " Well, they are selling on ebay for such and such " , just say to them " Is that what they are actually selling for, or is it what they are asking? Then whip out your phone and show them the actual completed listings for the items. They never usually sell for as much as what people think.
When they try and sell it for 10 or 20 percent less then new, I just buy a new one. I can bring it back if it doesn't work, or exchange it, and I also get the warranty. Worth the extra ten to twenty percent.
That Rolling Stones album should be worth more than others. That was the original cover that had all the pictures of celebrities on it ... they re-released it missing two or three of the pictures because of copyright problems.

Why did you put back that Jimi Hendrix Experience record? Why?
Shame about the vinyl. Curious how much were they asking for them, never heard them answer. Carol King Tapestry and a few others good finds, awful they were molded.
