It works ok for me. You just have to make sure you change the video settings with the old cord hooked up before plugging in the ps2 to hdmi. The only issue I have is when I try to play a ps1 game the screen goes back after the playstation logo appears but ps2 games work good. Its not a huge improvement on video quality but its enough I would rather use the ps2 to hdmi rather than the standard video cable.
Cheers for the update , The replacement converter I ordered “worked” but the quality of picture was woeful. I’m presently seeking to purchase a later years crt tv to gain back the original ps2 games glory days 😍
Just look around there are places that just give them away because most people don't want them because there so heavy and difficult to move. I guarantee if you look around you can find a really nice one for free.
your TV doesnt support 240p if you get a blank screen playing PS1 games through component(this dongle uses component signal from the ps2). I can play ps1 games through component on my CRT but I get black screen on an HDTV using same cable on both TVs. It would probably work with one of the crappier dongles cause those only use the composite signal but picture quality will be shit.
Bro I ordered my ps2 to hdmi recently. came into the mail this past Monday . I tried it with my slim ps2 on A (4k Hisense Tv) Didn’t work for shit I gave up and went back to AV cables but today 20 mins ago I do my homework on all this shit again And I found this video and your comment helped m!!! I didn’t even think of switching settings with the old av cable before trying on the new wtf Looks a lot better than before I’m about to play vice city stories. April 11,2024

I’ve got an OSSC and a Retrotink 5x and this little dongle performs very well compared to the two much more expensive options. It’s a very very good option if you want a very good picture without breaking the bank.
I have one of these hdmi converters they do work ok for ps2 games but not so much ps1 games to use this you have to make sure you change the video settings to y p b pr the component setting not rgb but you may need a tv that supports rgb to see and change the setting i will be looking at another hdmi converter that will work better with my capture cards another thing you could do to play ps1 ps2 and ps3 games and not need a converter is to buy a ps2 backwards compatible ps3 they are expensive but work really well but even though it will play most games there will be a small few that will only work on its native console
Thanks a million for the detailed reply Micheal. I have a ps3 here too so I’ll have a check and follow your advice, I don’t think it’s the ps2 backwards compatible model but it certainly plays ps1 titles. I may very well invest in the backwards ps2 compatible model if I find a good deal (unlikely though as they’re serious money atm)
works flawlessly on my 4k tv, same exact one. remember you need to change it to component in settings, pretty sure you just have a crappy ps2, i have the fat version
Hi. Thanks for your comment, I tried all the settings . I’m pretty sure it’s a faulty converter. I’ve got another hdmi converter and it works perfectly.
@@bldtv7038 that's what i was thinking. I assumed you had the black screen like so many, but no actual signal means the converter isn't succeeding. Which one did you get next?
@@insanebmxthomas hey Thomas , thanks for the info,, yeah I found this very disappointing so I next purchased an “amtake” CBBS , RCA to hdmi composite. It was a bit bigger physically but did the job. Going to review it soon on this channel.

Turn console on with no game in Wait 15 seconds for Playstation to turn on Press down then x wait 5 seconds Press down down down x Then press left then x wait a few seconds and the picture will turn on Job done
Thanks for the tip Jason. I’ll check out the Kaico on my next purchase. It’s difficult to find an adapter that recreates the original non-hdmi quality.
Mine was working fine then hot a green tint right through the picture can still see the game tho .i think its the converter changed the hdmi cord wasn't that everything else is fine so think the converter is shit lol.
Im having the same issue and from what I've understood i need to connect the ps2 with those 3 plugs on a older tv and set it from rgb to composite BUT i dont have an older tv so how am i going to fix this problem . I thought this thing was plug and play but its realll tricky if you dont know you have to set the ps2 settings to composite first ! What a pain in the ass man ...🙆♂️

You gotta change the PS2 cable input support from RGB to YbPr in the PS2 configuration settings on the BIOS menu (bootup menu).
are you not supposed to plug the micro usb cable into a 5V adapter that would plug into an outlet? maybe that’s why you had issues with the converter.
your ps2 setting is on rgb mode change it to other mode n try
Ok. I’ll give it a try 👍
It's not meant for the PS2 Slim...
Why ?
mines stop working it gives clear picture but just stop working after a while
and what converter did u try next?
Get a KAICO HD adapter little bit more money but the picture is stunning and it outputs component signal

Change video settings from RCB before throwing a girly fit
you just got a bad one, mine works fine
It’s supposed to be on hdmi 1
You mean ps2 to hdmi converter doesn’t works on ps2 slim only???
Don’t know about the fat model but this converter was sold as “working” on either model.
change video output settings .
Had the same problem, shit thing
Yeah, troubleshooting settings this up in composite. There are other videos on RUclips.
This is a pointless video.
This shitty thing not support ps1 game!
most useless video on here, connects cables one handed doesnt read up then blames the adaptor
Your comment was quite useless tbh. I did read the instructions and had tested before the video was shot. Wow. Presuppose much ? 😂
