  • These melodies with conch schell are the basic traditional used inside Honzan Shugen congregration temples...
These melodies must be mastered by all yamabushi...
A qualified instructor is necessary & daily training during the first six months...
Playing well is not enough; to have the right attitude (kokoro-no-gamae) is correct to a good Yamabushi!
Conch schell is a kind of meditation which wacke up "gama brain" waves...
Each Shugen tradition (Haguro, Honzan, Nanto, Tôzan, Tonan) have own melodies with 3 or 5 sounds .

+Kaung Zaw Han In tibetan buddhism, a small white shell is use.
Inside japanese buddhism, as Shugen, we are using a big shell to blow several melodies with 3 but sometimes 5 sounds as inside Samboin temple Homa school of Tozan shugen. It is Lion's voice/Buddha's voice to purify, put away evil forces, to speak inside mountains during pilgrimage. All yamabushi (shugendo practicioners) must mastered Conch shell blowing perfectely. _/\_
