Thanks for stopping by! Just another quick apology for the focusing issues in the the woods. I'll have that resolved for the next video. Please do leave a comment as I love to read them and I do my best to reply to everyone. And yes, I know Meg stole the show again, despite our little chat ;-) Also, I made a mistake - the trees were actually Ash and not Elm - oops!
Meg is a very obedient dog, I was a bit worried with that big drop on the landscape shoot, but she was good and just sat next to you. Lovely photo of the wild garlic and it’s nice to see you back.
A man his dog and a camera,...doesn't get any better than that. Thank you Simon for taking us along on your route again, what a great video this was, god bless buddy keep it up. P.S. Meg is a true star she is. Love her totally.
Meg's still running the show Simon 😂. Great film as always though. We're all so obsessed with photographing bluebells and poppies at this time of year, but you've found a spot where wild garlic rules! Food for thought.
Yup there are two stars in your videos: your images and Meg. You're a lucky man to have her companionship on your photo excursions. Beautiful images Simon. Even some of the compositions from your video camera. Looking forward to learning more from you, and I appreciate the advice to get out there!
Well done Simon. Another excellent video. Beautifully put together. Loads of interesting thoughts. Great scenery. Having Meg in the vlog is just icing on the cake. Thank you so much for the effort you put into this.
Simon, the Megscapes are great, wish you would include more; and I say that not really being a dog person. But the interaction between the two of you has made her an important part of channel. I take my wife with me when shooting but she doesn't jump around in the puddles like Meg, not nearly as interesting. :)
Another interesting video Simon with some thought provoking observations. Along with Thomas Heaton you are my favourite photography channel. Both of you came across as very genuine and it's not just another selling opportunity. As for trying to keep Meg as second fiddle! Dream on. She will always poke her wet nose in whenever she can and that's part of the honest and natural feel of your channel.
Thank you very much, Martin! It's obvious that I make Meg an integral part of my videos as she plays a key role in my photography and well-being. She deserves to be the star :P
Well, the little chat with Meg... hmm, I think she's an inevitable seen-stealer. The "Megscape" is a great picture, and your next shot, without her, really does show what adding a point of interest does for a shot. Your break with her at about 5:25 was a treat to watch. Also, never seen her watching the drone before, as she did for the fly-around. Probably thinking "okay, just get a little closer, and we can play!". I agree you've scouted some wonderful locations for Fall. The light on the leaves could be spectacular. I look forward to seeing that.
Very Nice Shots Simon. I especially like the last one with the path and the winding curve that was used well as the leading line. And of course Meg and her antics are always a pleasure to see in your videos. She surely adds character to the hikes that you both venture on.
I have watched all of your vlogs and I eagerly look forward to each one. Thank you for shooting locally. Although I would love more opportunity to travel to exotic locations it just isn't a possibility. I appreciate the time you take to get to know your area so well through the seasons.
Good to see a fellow Photography making the most of the conditions available and able to focus on capturing good images, whilst still putting together a cohesive vlog, not easy as I am finding out. Another good watch Simon, thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much, James. Yep, it's not an easy task. Although I find it easier in situations like this where I'm not hoping to 'keepers'. Less pressure in photography makes the videoing easier and vice versa.
Simon Baxter yes I agree. I find it a challenge when I'm under time pressure too like when the sun is setting etc. Adds a new dynamic to the shoot though and has its own creative rewards.
I woke up this Saturday morning and was happy to start the day with your post and a coffee - all the better to focus! I appreciated all the description of framing a view, watching the edges, centre of interest. I thoroughly enjoyed the Megscapes, garlic scapes and woodscapes. I admit struggling to find a decent view in the chaos of woodland. Beautiful in springtime! Thank you!
I love this megscape, beautiful scene a Meg reallz adds a nice touch. The wood with carpet of wild garlic is fantasticm almost magical. And the smell, eh? :) I've been taking photos of wild garlic 2 weeks ago, also for the first time. I never knew it grew there.
Thanks Simon, another fantastic video. absolutely loved the close up shot of the garlic at the base of the mossy elms. Keep up the good work, and I think you have a great attitude to your photography. Without knowing you I believe your philosophies in photography mirror your attitude to life. You are a total inspiration and your video's are so up lifting. Thank you so much.
Thanks Simon - another great video and I appreciated you sharing the 'Megscape' because I thought it was stunning. There was lots to appreciate about the wild garlic shots as well.
Love the Megscape and hope you'll include more of them in future. Other favorites were the detail shot of the flowers at the base of the tree and the path through the garlic flowered woods.
Megscapes indeed. The Megscapades?? I'm surprised you're not yet selling Meg merch Simon. Soft coloured t-shirts with a rolling landscape background with an abstract Meg shape in front? That'll be next! :D
Wonderful video Simon, love the thinking behind some of those shots. That little area with the wild garlic was such a gorgeous spot, no wonder you found yourself back there again! You managed to get some beautiful details in those woodlands images mate!
Many thanks, Andrew. Unfortunately the garlic will be looking a little sad now so it will have to wait until next year to try and get a keeper. It was an enjoyable and peaceful wander though :)
Another smashing vlog Simon. The B roll footage is what makes a great video, and you do it well! I like the change in subjects. I call those micro landscapes. Sunsets and large views are all well and good, but a change is good for the creative part of us all as well. Well done!
nice to see you and meg back that was just up my street one man and his dog in the woods, and camera in hand. Its true the images do show them selves when your in that environment if you look hard enough. Great video
Another great vlog Simon you have such a great eye for detail love the way your about to capture and image and what you see most people would just walk past and miss that composition. Oh and you certainly got a keeper with the landscape shot with Meg in the image love it.
Simon Simon Simon , you need to be paying Meg royalties for her appearances LOL!!!. I really like thought process. I really liked the image of the Elms with the flower in the middle, that would be on my wall in an instant. Looking forward to the next installment of Megs' adventures hehe!!!
Great photos and video Simon. I particularly enjoyed your second day out exploring the new area, hearing about how you take some shots just for yourself and about spending time just trying new compositions, especially when the light isn't perfect. A great approach and an inspiration to go outdoors more with the camera, aiming just to explore and experiment. Please include a Megscape every so often - she is fantastic!
Many thanks, Russell. It would be nice to do another video soon where I capture some images that I love but the conditions haven't been on my side in recent months. Still, I'm quite happy to have these relaxing wanders and be patient and prepared for when the magic happens :) More Megscapes? - check!
Thank you for taking us on this wonderful short journey. Showing us how you worked though the thought process was most valuable and inspirational to say the lease.
Loved the "Megscape". Yup, she stole the show again... Always fun to see another photographer's thought process in action. Love your videos for the video (if that makes sense) as well... your video scenes are just as well thought out as are your photos. Very nice work all around. Actually, I'm not so sure that Meg steals the show so much as that she's a great addition to the overall show.... she actually enhances it.
Very nice, green is my favorite color, especially this really lush vibrant green you captured in this woods. Living in the desert I miss this color so much, and your photo with the path really really made me want to walk down it. Looked like a lovely day.
Very nice video Simon, wild garlic maybe the new bluebells. I agree, every image is a step onwards and a learning in some form or another, even if they are not award winners. and cracking Megscape!!
Another interesting and informative video. It's always good to hear your thoughts on composition especially in your woodland shots where it can be difficult to find a composition that is not too chaotic.
High quality video as always! Love the fact that you focus on the compositions and not the technicial aspects of the camera! And of course it is always good to see that Meg is with you since I always have at least one of my dogs with me when I'm out shooting myself :)
Yet again Simon, cracking video, loved it. Unfortunately though......Meg steels the show and upstages you once more. Nice to see her enjoying her paddle in the beck. I've never seen so much wild garlic, a beautiful ground cover that complements your tree compositions. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Meg can't help but steal the limelight when she's in any shot. At least she tried. ; ) Thank you for another inspiring video, this one risking life and limb, as well as an imminent cow chase. That video of Roseberry Topping (such a lovely name) was amazing; Meg was too cute as she kept looking at the drone. And that Megscape shot? It's so perfect for a children's book! Please share more if you are so inclined. I agree that every shot is a step in the right direction-even if it's learning what you like or don't like. What you call the "detail shots" are the types of photography I'm very much into and like to do myself (love all your shots with the garlic flowers); I'm only just starting to do more landscapes, so your videos have been helpful, especially your suggestion to just get out there whether you photograph good shots or not. And what's with those ants? They looked huge. : ) I apologize for this long comment, but I loved this video!
comment half way through your video and it's truly spectacular magic Simon so much in depth detail very very inspiring beautiful.Well Done my friend 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Wow, what a nice wild garlic field. Fantastic! Also, love your northern dialect and you using words like "beck". Keep up the good work. You can go as far as you want on RUclips, you are that talented. Greetings from Norway.
You must put a lot of time and thought into your videos. I look forward to them. It's helpful when you share your thoughts when composing an image as I find woodland scenes particularly challenging. I also enjoyed your website.
Hi Simon. As I always say....I love the new video. It's so pretty there. And yes, despite your little talk, Meg was her usual cute self. So sorry about the fence they put up. But you managed to find some other really pretty shots. I always look forward to your videos and photos on Instagram.
Great shoot as always, Meg is still the star of any of your days out- and long may it continue. One ask from me-could you let us know your settings as you make your wonderful compositions?
Another superb video with some great shots, unfortunately Meg only lasted 17 seconds before she stole the show and it was a stunning shot of her. I really appreciate all the effort you put in to describing your shots along with your settings and why you are using them. There's another Simon on RUclips called Simon Booth, who lives fairly local to me but I've not met him as yet, he is a stunning photographer and photographs all things nature. I think you might like his channel as like yourself he has an understanding of flora and fauna as well as landscapes.
Many thanks, Mark. Yep, I knew she would steal the show but I'll let her off ;-) Ah yes, I'm pretty sure I may have seen a couple of Simon's before. Cheers
Thanks, so much, Simon! I thoroughly enjoy your videos, they are so well done and I always learn a great deal. I like your deliberate style and how you explain your thoughts about each composition. Your videos and the things you say always motivate me to get out there and take more images. Someday, I hope to make a photo expedition to Yorkshire. The images you took in this video were lovely, thanks again. Cheers.
Thanks for stopping by! Just another quick apology for the focusing issues in the the woods. I'll have that resolved for the next video. Please do leave a comment as I love to read them and I do my best to reply to everyone. And yes, I know Meg stole the show again, despite our little chat ;-)
Also, I made a mistake - the trees were actually Ash and not Elm - oops!
i think its all good! loved this video...... :-)
Thank you very much, Christos. Glad you enjoyed the wander with Meg and I :)
That Wild Garlic scene is amazing I have never seen such a good one as this. So much potential in this Area
Yep, definitely. First time shooting there but next year I'll have to be there sooner in the year and early morning. Another spot for the list ;)
Meg's still running the show Simon 😂. Great film as always though. We're all so obsessed with photographing bluebells and poppies at this time of year, but you've found a spot where wild garlic rules! Food for thought.
Very enjoyable and indeed very happy to see more of bouncy dog. Very interesting to watch. Thanks for uploading.
Thanks for talking us through the scenes in detail. It is most helpful!
The Megscape was awesome, glad you shared that one.
She was too cute, she did it again.
That shot with meg is awesome
Yay for Megscapes! Charlie-Mac 🐶 says Woof!
Woofy woof woof lick
Another vote for the Megscape!
Yup there are two stars in your videos: your images and Meg. You're a lucky man to have her companionship on your photo excursions. Beautiful images Simon. Even some of the compositions from your video camera.
Looking forward to learning more from you, and I appreciate the advice to get out there!
I should probably just stay off screen and narrate from the shadows while Meg bounces around ;-) Many thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome, I love Meg-scapes.
Beautiful images, wild garlic and please, more Megscape! Lol. Great video!
Love your work! Thanks for the Megscape... and yes, one for the autumn.
Wow, amazing wild garlic in the woods. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Thank you Simon; I continue to learn so much from your thinking process.
Another great video Simon... Roseberry Top looks like an awesome location, and that carpet of wild garlic is just stunning!
As always, love the photographs and enjoy watching Meg romp about, but your drone photography is really top notch and adds so much to the videos.
Many thanks, John! :)
Thanks for sharing Simon, you are an inspiration amongst all the noise, garlic garden is a special place.
Thank you very much :)
I love your work, thank for sharing!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Don’t bother Simon. Meg will always steal the limelight. She is just too cute.😊
Well done Simon. Another excellent video. Beautifully put together. Loads of interesting thoughts. Great scenery. Having Meg in the vlog is just icing on the cake. Thank you so much for the effort you put into this.
Many thanks, Lars. Much appreciated ;)
Another brilliant vlog Simon. I really feel the help and time you give freely will improve my thought process and help me see things I often miss
Simon, the Megscapes are great, wish you would include more; and I say that not really being a dog person. But the interaction between the two of you has made her an important part of channel. I take my wife with me when shooting but she doesn't jump around in the puddles like Meg, not nearly as interesting. :)
Many thanks, Avid. I agree that she is a fundamental part to my channel but also my photography so yes there will be more Megscapes in the future.
I admire the amount of effort you put into each video. Instant thumbs up! 👍
I will have watch this again. That Wild Garlic WoW !
HI Simon: Enjoyed this video, good drone footage, some nice images and the portrait of Meg was classic. Thanks for sharing!
Garlic never looked so good! Beautiful images. Please give Meg a pat on the head for me.
Thank you! Consider Meg patted ;)
Your channel should be called "The Meg and Simon Show" :-)
Love that you know so much about trees.
Well, I made a mistake - the trees were actually Ash and not Elm! Oops!
Another interesting video Simon with some thought provoking observations. Along with Thomas Heaton you are my favourite photography channel. Both of you came across as very genuine and it's not just another selling opportunity.

Haha, I think you're right ;). Thank you very much for your kind feedback, glad you enjoyed it.
Another excellent video Meg, you really have your assistant well trained and he adds some interesting background to your adventures.
Thank you, Steve. I may consider a video without him. 10 minutes of me running around and splashing in streams should be a winner ;)
Very Nice Shots Simon. I especially like the last one with the path and the winding curve that was used well as the leading line. And of course Meg and her antics are always a pleasure to see in your videos. She surely adds character to the hikes that you both venture on.
Many thanks as always, Derek. Glad you enjoyed it :)
I have watched all of your vlogs and I eagerly look forward to each one. Thank you for shooting locally. Although I would love more opportunity to travel to exotic locations it just isn't a possibility. I appreciate the time you take to get to know your area so well through the seasons.

Love the wild garlic photos!
Thank you :)

Water fall is so good it looks "designed"
Simon, I loved this video. Congratulations.
Well worth the wait with my beer ,I've never seen such a concentrate of wild garlic ...beautiful
A great video Simon, I really enjoy your videos and really enjoy seeing your dog in them as well

Thank you very much for your very kind comments, Elizabeth. It's hugely rewarding for me if others find inspiration in my work :). All the best!
beautiful video and nice photos. btw, I did love the Megscape and where you and meg were lying down. serene and beautiful scene.
Thank you very much, Avijit :)
Thanks Simon - another great video and I appreciated you sharing the 'Megscape' because I thought it was stunning. There was lots to appreciate about the wild garlic shots as well.
Thank you very much, Paul :)
Love the Megscape and hope you'll include more of them in future. Other favorites were the detail shot of the flowers at the base of the tree and the path through the garlic flowered woods.
Meg is a rock star! Neat bit of drone shot floating through the wild garlic, Simon.
Yep, she needs a fan club called The Megatronians :-p
Megscapes indeed. The Megscapades?? I'm surprised you're not yet selling Meg merch Simon. Soft coloured t-shirts with a rolling landscape background with an abstract Meg shape in front? That'll be next! :D
Another great video. Look forward to the next one. The wild garlic was cool.
Many thanks, Russell :)

thank you simon & meg ,
Nice compositions as always Simon. Love your videos.
Thoroughly entertaining, and the images are spectacular. Bravo!
Thank you very much!

Many thanks, Terry! I usually save the vistas for when I go away, the micro landscapes are definitely my preference when shooting locally:)
nice to see you and meg back that was just up my street one man and his dog in the woods, and camera in hand. Its true the images do show them selves when your in that environment if you look hard enough. Great video
Thank you very much, Malcolm :)
Another really excellent video. Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you, Chloe. Much appreciated
Once again thanks for sharing...
Another great vlog Simon you have such a great eye for detail love the way your about to capture and image and what you see most people would just walk past and miss that composition. Oh and you certainly got a keeper with the landscape shot with Meg in the image love it.
Many thanks, Jeff! Yep, the Megscape was the best shot :P
Simon Simon Simon , you need to be paying Meg royalties for her appearances LOL!!!. I really like thought process. I really liked the image of the Elms with the flower in the middle, that would be on my wall in an instant. Looking forward to the next installment of Megs' adventures hehe!!!

Thank you very much, Edison :)
Awesome vlog Simon - making the best of the conditions. Loved the vignette shot.
Many thanks, Mark!
just love megscape :-)
Finally another episode :-))) It's always nice to see a new Simon video pop up! I'll save it for later.
Thank you very much! She definitely enhances it but she's also fundamental to my photography and wellbeing so she definitely has to be part of it :)
Magic spot
Very nice, green is my favorite color, especially this really lush vibrant green you captured in this woods. Living in the desert I miss this color so much, and your photo with the path really really made me want to walk down it. Looked like a lovely day.
Great video! "Megscape" is a really nice photo!
Another great video mate. You and Meg are both legends:)
Finally!!... Some love for me rather than just Meg haha :-p Cheers, Sean :)
Very nice video Simon, wild garlic maybe the new bluebells. I agree, every image is a step onwards and a learning in some form or another, even if they are not award winners. and cracking Megscape!!
Thank you, Alan. Absolutely - I knew I wasn't going to get anything outstanding but it was definitely worth shooting, practicing and preparing :)
finally new video, i was waiting for long time!! :) nice one !this garlic spot was awesome very beautiful
Many thanks, Francisco. Hopefully I can shoot another soon!
Well done Simon. The images of the wild garlic were lovely. Loved the Megscape as well.
Enjoyed this , i have photographed RT many times, sunrise is always the best.
Many thanks, Christian. Great to hear that your dogs join you too :)
Thank you very much, John! Yep, she's a poser ;)
Nicely done. A beautiful place and you've managed to capture it with detail and an explanation of your thought process.
Nicely balanced episode Simon. Enjoyed watching every single one of your vlogs :-)
Many thanks, Chris! Much appreciated :) Sunny and muggy here today but maybe they'll be some opportunities later as some stormy clouds roll in!
Another great video Simon.
Cheers buddy.
Go Meg
:-)
amazing wildernes..
Another excellent video.
And what's with those ants? They looked huge. : ) I apologize for this long comment, but I loved this video!
Hi Sarah. Many thanks for your very kind comments. I'm delighted you enjoyed the video so much and I will of course include Megscapes in future ;-)
comment half way through your video and it's truly spectacular magic Simon so much in depth detail very very inspiring beautiful.Well Done my friend 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you very much, Brent :)
Great video again mate just love your passion
Wow, what a nice wild garlic field. Fantastic! Also, love your northern dialect and you using words like "beck". Keep up the good work. You can go as far as you want on RUclips, you are that talented. Greetings from Norway.
Many thanks, Norse! Much appreciated :)
You must put a lot of time and thought into your videos. I look forward to them. It's helpful when you share your thoughts when composing an image as I find woodland scenes particularly challenging. I also enjoyed your website.
Many thanks, Bill! I'm glad you enjoy my thoughts on composition and great if it can help a bit.
Great video Simon excellent 👍
Simon, You have some seriously good quality video and images happening here.
Many thanks :)
Another great video! Thanks for the inspiration and insight into your process.
Thank you! My pleasure :)
Loved this video, it's the first of yours I've watched when I found it in my feed. I've subscribed now, looking forward to seeing more. Love Meg x
Many thanks, Jenny :) Hope you enjoy the rest!
Hi Simon. As I always say....I love the new video. It's so pretty there. And yes, despite your little talk, Meg was her usual cute self. So sorry about the fence they put up. But you managed to find some other really pretty shots. I always look forward to your videos and photos on Instagram.
Hi Cheryl. Many thanks, it's always appreciated :)
Great videos thought my shot on Flickr was a great display but that wood with the carpet of garlic is something else.
Many thanks, David. Kinda wish I'd gone a week sooner but I'll remember for next year :)
Great video. Well worth all the effort you must have gone to, to make it.
Cheers.
Many thanks for your kind words, Robert :)
