YES. I was a devout catholic all my life, grew up in a catholic family, catholic school etc., i was even opus dei, and all that jazz. i was so devoutly religious that i would do all the things catholics would do EVERYDAY FOR YEARS - rosary, mass, confession, etc. goes without saying, i was in search of God all throughout, but even with that, i still didn't know Him, for who He really is. I learned that what I know about Him is only from who people say He is, without knowing Him myself. God put me, and continue to put me through so much, that in those process I learned so much about Him, about who He is, and about what He wants. After years of searching for Him, He revealed Himself to me, and He pulled me out of the religious wheel. it is A VERY PAINFUL PROCESS, much so for me because I was very devout, but now, I can fully say I am now Christian. this promise is from God Himself - Jeremiah 29:13 "If you seek Me, you will find me, if you seek me with all your Heart." this promise is an answered prayer from God. So YES, even the most devout catholic can be BORN AGAIN. but it will be a painful process, but God said, THE REWARD IS HIS.

The thief on the cross beside Jesus was a bad bad bad man all his life, all he did was speak from his heart to Christ and the other thief and who ever else was listening....you know the rest of that story. Before he said who Jesus was, 99% would say he was heading for hell. On the other hand, when Peter cursed and said he didn't know Jesus, another 99% would say the same for him.
What I'm saying you have already guessed......Christ has the last say. For me I think there is corruption in many churches, and faulty teaching......I judge those church systems, but not the peoples hearts .....after all Christ said we don't know our own heart much less the next person. I can tell you one thing for sure my knees are bloody from stumbling.....and I will keep getting up and walking, only because I have JESUS.

That thing is true, but (the man beside Jesus in the cross) he is saved because he fully trusted his all to Jesus.
Many of our Catholic friends trust more to their dead saints, Mary, traditions, purgatory, the sheer collectivity of their members, and even the pope.
Many doesn't really trust Jesus as their savior, but if some does, then it's good. But before you conclude, it's still not genuine, for they mix Jesus with their religion, to be saved we must ONLY believe the true Son of God and not our religion.

@Asaph Vapor I'm really sorry for Catholics, but Proverbs says we care more when we rebuke, we love more when we have the courage to give advice and guidance from the word of God.
I'm so frustrated at how many people are dragged into this "church" and its lies.
I felt the will to comment on this matter. It's like welcoming everybody even satanists to the true church of Christ. It'll be confusing if we say things like Catholics are also saved.
If they know that we preached like that they'll never come out from that religion.
We can say we can't judge their souls, but we can't more sure that they will inherit the kingdom of God by partaking in the lies.

I was raised Lutheran in a major city where the largest majority are Roman Catholics. Through a series of events I was saved on March 11, 1979 . At the time my then wife was going to a Southern Baptist Church. It was there that I was born again. We attended 2 smaller SBC churches. In 1982 we were divorced after 9 years of marriage at her choosing, not mine. A short time later I was offered a job opportunity in Central Florida and although I had begun to see someone else, I relocated to Florida alone. I began attending a large SBC church here where I have been a member for 41 years. I have sung in that churches choir for the last 20 years. During that time I have met several people who were former Roman Catholics who were/ are saved and changed from Catholism to Protestant. As far as I know these people successfully made a transition. One person comes to mind who is now deceased and I am confident that I will see him in heaven. However, I do not believe that once a person is saved that he can remain a Catholic or else he or she will be inherently discontent. I do not believe that Catholic doctrine and teachings will permit that person to remain in what I believe is a church denomination that is inconsistent with true biblical teaching. The Spirit of God will prompt that person to seek out a church that parallels true Christianity

That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith; 31but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that law. 32Why? As a former devoted catholic, I used to attend the mass 5 times a week, pray the rosary daily, a leader of a Catholic group/movement on my campus, and I was visiting the seminary to become a priest!
I once was questioned, If I am to die at this moment, where would I open my eyes afterwards, although I was a devoted catholic, I didn't have an answer, the person questioning me, opened the Bible at first John chapter 5, and as he read I was amazed, the passage actually speaks about the true believer of a Jesus and his assurance of a heaven with Christ, and if he doesn't say he has heaven for sure, he's explicitly saying that God is a liar!
After this encounter, I decided to study my bible daily, although I was a Catholic who reads his bible(which is very rare here in my country), and after a year of studying my Bible i saw how much the Catholic church is far from the Bible.
If you are a Catholic reading this I would suggest to you to search the following topics:
    -The authority of scripture
-Justification and salvation: this is one of the most important one, how am I to be reconciled with God according to the Bible!? What must I do to be saved!?
-The mass and transubstantiation (Emphasis on Hebrews 10,the "lost" book in Catholicism)
-The role of saints in The Bible
-The role of virgin Mary in The Bible
    -Purgatory and the Bible
-The pope :Is he biblical, is he even in the first church!?
-The first church and the history of the Catholic church, did it really start with Jesus or with Constantine centuries later!?
-The apocryphal books, why did they first show in mid 15th century?
-Baptism, Is it for the babies, does it have to do anything with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit!?
-The sacred mysteries and the Bible: why in a time of history they were 12 and 9 and 5 and now they stand at 7? Is the sacred mystery of confession biblical!?
"The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth." Psalms 145:18
God bless you all! MUCH LOVE!

Johnny G // I would love to address everything that you’ve mentioned, but I would like for you to look into whether Constantine really is the source of the Catholic doctrines, or whether they were in the Church before him or in spite of him. I want you to look into the Persian Church and the Mar Thoma Christians from India who though never under Roman rule, maintained the Doctrines which many would consider un-Christian, but which have always been held by the Catholic Church everywhere and at all times, even by the beloved Augustine.
Also, simply look to Armenia, and Greece, and Ethiopia, and everywhere the Apostles and those they shared the Gospel with were, and find Churches which hold to these Catholic beliefs where they left off.
Either the Catholic Church is the greatest conspiracy that ever was, between all the places in the world where the early Church was, without any record of “Great Apostasy”, or they’re right. There really is no in-between.

Alexander keep up the good work!!!!!! It is sad that Catholics like Johny G get caught off guard with those tactics and loose their Faith. The worst part is that Protestants don't really get the promised assurance. Quite a few (like my "Born Again" co-worker) will always wonder "was I truly 'Born Again.' " This will always be the case since the common Protestant understanding of James' Epistle is that this NT Book was written to show that that there are many who have a "false" faith. A former Protestant once put it this way, "Christians have 100% assurance that they are saved and I MAY be one of them." This Protestant never found the promised assurance and was quite troubled by that until he came home to the Catholic Church. Your brother in Christ, H S

My former Catholic brother. It shows just how weak you are! Or maybe, just maybe you were never meant to be a Catholic. As you quote the Bible so well, why do you hop, skip and jump relevant passages? Read Jn 6:64-66. Very pertinent to you. Also read 1 Tim 3:15 how many deniminations were there in St Paul's time? Which church was he addressing? What was the meaning of "church" in early christianity. You are nothing but flawed. You went for daily mass, not out of commitment but ritualism. Yes, many Catholics do just that! Why? They still want to be fed milk instead of meat. Read up or follow Dr Scott Hahn on RUclips. A great man of God bent upon discrediting the Catholic Church till one day his eyes of faith was opened to the truth AND HE BECAME Catholic. There are many highly intellectual persons of other denominations who have become Catholic. Why? Because they WERE SEARCHING FOR the Truth. And here you are, like Esau trading your birthright for what?? The only way out is repent to make a comeback. Are you keeping the Commandments of Jesus- Jn 14:15? By disobeying and leaving the Church. You know FULL WELL your bible, it is written Judas left "the Brotherhood" of Light and went into the "Darkness". What I would say to all Catholics AND Protestants (including myself) is...JESUS IS ENOUGH AND MORE THAN ENOUGH. He is everything! Stop adding to Him! When we are judged, He is all we will have to stand on. Our righteousness will be EVIDENCE of our standing on Him, not the means to our salvation. Trust me, we Protestants also have bad habits of resting and trusting in our good deeds too. Glorify God with the good deeds that He gave us to do, but only after salvation in Jesus, based on God’s working alone, do these come.

@@balukuroben7458 The Baptist Church was born out of adversity and persecution, mostly by the RCC. The origin of our church is Jesus Christ and the Word of God (the Bible.) Our church is based on belief in Jesus Christ, God the Father and the Holy Spirit and the Word of God only. We believe only believers were to be baptized by immersion and therefore reject infant baptism.
We believe salvation is a gift by the grace of God and that our justification is by faith alone and that all who are saved are eternally secure.
We believe that a church is a local assembly of saved, immersed believers called out from the world by our Lord Jesus Christ and separated unto Him.
We believe the Bible alone, all 66 books, is our only authority for our faith and practices.
We believe in the priesthood of all believers who have the right and the access to come to the throne of grace.
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life and substitutionary death, bodily ressurection, assension to heaven and His personal, visible return.
We believe in the Holy Spirit who convicts us of sin; who regenerates, sanctifies and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ.
Baptists reject salvation by works and the re-sacrificing of Jesus Christ and therefore the RC Mass is blasphemous.

This is totally wrong. If a person knows Jesus He will know that what Roman Catholics practice & believe about salvstion , mary, the Eucharist ritual, praying to saints & much more things is totally wrong. @ALEX W. I understand that as a minor you are in your parents care and you are answerable to them. However I would advice you to consider the scripture that says "children Obey your parents in the Lord " notice the phrase "in the Lord" . If your parents are Godly and what they are asking you to do is not against Scripture then for sure do as they say & don't dishonour them. However if what they say is against God's will for example, to murder someone then don't obey them but obey the Lord. I'd leave the Catholic church as soon as you reach an age where you are allowed to do your own thing. Remember kids have sex outside of marriage, drink & party while they are under age & still in thier parents care they fight for what they think is thier right & what's important to them even though parents say don't do it. So why not fight for what God says is right and make a stand in love let them know what your convictions are concerning the word of God & the Church. You may be the one God uses to bring light to thier lives too. People can marry at 16yrs old so why can't you leave an organisation that's not of the Lord?? . God bless u and be with you.

I have a Catholic teacher and I can see fruit in her life. It’s mind boggling because for most of my life, I’ve battled with the question “can a Catholic be truly saved?” We do prayer in class everyday and she’s genuinely seeking the Lord. She talks about it all the time. One time I came to her after class and asked her if she was saved, and she said yes and she understood salvation and started telling me how she got saved. I think God put her in my life to tell me that Catholics, though they do have false doctrine, can be born again. It’s all about JESUS, and I see JESUS shining in her life everytime she teaches. God spoke to me by bringing her into my life. Brother and sisters, let us pray for all Catholics that they may come to Jesus. That’s all that matters

There are few more confusing topics than salvation. It goes beyond the standard question posed by Fundamentalists: "Have you been saved?" What the question also means is: "Don’t you wish you had the assurance of salvation?" Evangelicals and Fundamentalists think they do have such an absolute assurance. Scripture teaches that one’s final salvation depends on the state of the soul at death. As Jesus himself tells us, "He who endures to the end will be saved" (Matt. 24:13; cf. 25:31-46). One who dies in the state of friendship with God (the state of grace) will go to heaven. The one who dies in a state of enmity and rebellion against God (the state of mortal sin) will go to hell.
For many Fundamentalists and Evangelicals it makes no difference-as far as salvation is concerned-how you live or end your life. You can heed the altar call at church, announce that you’ve accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, and, so long as you really believe it, you’re set. Certainly, Christ did die on the cross once for all and has entered into the holy place in heaven to appear before God on our behalf. Christ has abundantly provided for our salvation, but that does not mean that there is no process by which this is applied to us as individuals. Obviously, there is, or we would have been saved and justified from all eternity, with no need to repent or have faith or anything else. We would have been born "saved," with no need to be born again. Since we were not, since it is necessary for those who hear the gospel to repent and embrace it, there is a time at which we come to be reconciled to God. And if so, then we, like Adam and Eve, can become unreconciled with God and, like the prodigal son, need to come back and be reconciled again with God, after having left his family.
Regarding the issue of whether Christians have an "absolute" assurance of salvation, regardless of their actions, consider this warning Paul gave: "See then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness; otherwise you too will be cut off" (Rom. 11:22; see also Heb. 10:26-29, 2 Pet. 2:20-21).
Related to the issue of whether one can lose one’s salvation is the question of whether one can know with complete certainty that one is in a state of salvation. Even if one could not lose one’s salvation, one still might not be sure whether one ever had salvation. Similarly, even if one could be sure that one is now in a state of salvation, one might be able to fall from grace in the future. The "knowability" of salvation is a different question than the "loseability" of salvation. Places where Scripture speaks of our ability to know that we are abiding in grace are important and must be taken seriously. But they do not promise that we will be protected from self-deception on this matter.
There are many saintly men and women who have long lived the Christian life and whose characters are marked with profound spiritual joy and peace. Such individuals can look forward with confidence to their reception in heaven.
Such an individual was Paul, writing at the end of his life, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day" (2 Tim. 4:7-8). But earlier in life, even Paul did not claim an infallible assurance, either of his present justification or of his remaining in grace in the future. Concerning his present state, he wrote, "I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby justified [Gk., dedikaiomai]. It is the Lord who judges me" (1 Cor. 4:4). Concerning his remaining life, Paul was frank in admitting that even he could fall away: "I pummel my body and subdue it, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified" (1 Cor. 9:27). Of course, for a spiritual giant such as Paul, it would be quite unexpected and out of character for him to fall from God’s grace. Nevertheless, he points out that, however much confidence in his own salvation he may be warranted in feeling, even he cannot be infallibly sure either of his own present state or of his future course.
"Are you saved?" asks the Fundamentalist. The Catholic should reply: "As the Bible says, I am already saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:5-8), but I’m also being saved (1 Cor. 1:18, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12), and I have the hope that I will be saved (Rom. 5:9-10, 1 Cor. 3:12-15). Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11-13)."
The same is true of us.

Thalia Rose, we need to know the truth about Jesus Christ by reading a good official Bible translation. We (all of us here on earth) need to read and study the Bible for ourselves, and think for ourselves about what we read -- then we won't be so easily misled by false teachers and false prophets. It's a matter of (eternal) life or death.
There are many, many Christian cults in this world, with money-hungry preachers who prey on their followers and mislead them, subtly introducing heretical doctrines. We are warned about such false teachers and false prophets several times in the Bible. The Roman Catholic Church has a number of unbiblical beliefs and customs.

It's funny because I was watching Jim and Tammy Baker of all people talking about salvation! I wanted to experience what they said would happen to me. I was older mentally for my age, I guess growing up as an only child and reading I just understood this was something that I truly wanted. My grandmother was living with us and she was pentecostal, I went to church with her twice. It was kind of scary but interesting. Well, I did the sinners prayer and I remained in a state of prayer all day before I went to bed, I prayed one more time. That night I dreamed and lightning struck in front of me and the holy spirit filled me and I heard the voice of God. I saw the bright light people have spoken of in near death experiences and while God spoke to me, his voice vibrated off of my chest his voice sounded like oceans, a lion speaking his voice was ancient I shared the dream with my parents and they did not believe me, my grandmother was gone so I couldn't tell her.i was so depressed and for years I had an up and down relationship with God. I finally left the Catholic church for various reasons. I have no doubt my parents know the Lord and accepted him as thier savior. Mom spoke of an experience that happened to her at a retreat. That night I had a dream, which I know was from God, which I still remember every detail of today. Christine Becerra, LMHC haha hopefully I don’t type too much here but this is what I saw.
It started out a normal church service. I was sitting in the middle. It was a new church I had not attended, I was away from home. My dream started at the end of the service. (Mass). Everything started to wrap up, and as I looked around I noticed something I hadn’t before. The building was beautiful, grand, huge. Then the Pastor said it was time to start handing out communion. Everything was normal, and I got a little piece of the bread in my hand as it was passed out to me. Just then the pastor said “and we know that this is the true body and blood of Jesus Christ. There are some in the world who deny this, who will spend a great long time suffering in the afterlife.” I still remember those words to this day. Just then I knew something was wrong. This wasn’t the Church I knew. It seemed to have changed throughout the very service. All of the sudden the Eucharist, bread became sticky. But looked good to eat. It stuck harder and harder to my hand, but looked even better and better to eat. I refused it, and put it down, knowing that this congregation taught that it was the actual body and blood, and essentially “worshipped it.” I then looked up and noticed the church was black. Literally. Everything was dark. The service itself took place in the middle of the night, there was no electricity in the building, only dimly lit candles in the window sills. The Pastor himself (Priest) I now noticed was also wearing black. And the congregation seemed the have been sunk back into the shadow of darkness. There was no real light given off at all. It was an eerie feeling. I all of the sudden felt a call, to flee from that church. I slowly got up, and started for the only light I saw, at the back of the church, I felt as if it was calling me. Just then, several others got up. One by one, the very few of us left, and followed the light. I remember just walking outside into the night with this light and the fellow believers and then I woke up.
To me the dream signified many things. The service of the church was the entire church history. And it once started out right but fell away. It took false doctrines to finally awaken me, such as the Eucharist being the actual body. The whole time I was asleep figuratively, unaware of what was happening in the church. To me the few leaving was the Protestant reformation, following only the light who was Christ. And not he authority of the church. Most of the dream seemed to be centered around communion, the doctrine that I was struggling with. I believe this is because that is probably the most fundamental doctrine to all Catholics. Overcoming that doctrine helped me see the true light. I was appalled from the dream, but found comfort in the scriptures as I read them the following weeks, which almost seemed to outline my exact thoughts throughout the dream. I could tell God was telling me something.
      Sorry I typed so much.
      God bless :)

No, no, no...let’s be clear about what Christ are we talking about.
The Jesus in the Quran? The Jesus in the New Age movement? The Jesus in the Council of Trent? The Jesus who failed at the cross according to Pope Francis? Or the Biblical Jesus?
I’m sorry, but once I read the Bible by myself looking for the Way to be saved, all the Roman Catholic doctrine was destroyed in a second. 45 years against one page in the gospel of John and one verse in the book of Romans and that was it.
When thousands of Roman Catholics accept the biblical truth about the substitutionary atonement they quit the Roman Catholic Church the same day. In other words, once they fully accept the righteousness of Christ they leave behind the self righteousness doctrine in a blink of an eye. Why? Because they can see for the first time the Grace of God and the immensity of the work of Jesus at the cross. Because they can experience for the first time the meaning of being born again and how the Holy Spirit change their lives completely to serve only One Name: The Name above all names; the Name of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah; King of kings and Lord of lords; the Name of Jesus Christ. The Jesus of the Bible. The Word of God. The Way, the Truth and the Life. Our Lord and my Savior & the Glory of God.

It's actually a shame how mistaken you are about the catholic faith. Not one of the points you brought up is even remotely precise. I say it's a shame not because this isn't the standard approach people have on Catholicism. In fact, it's a shame because it comes from you, Pastor Piper. I know people in general tend to hate the lies they were told about the catholic teaching, rather than the teaching itself - and they don't usually investigate what they've heard about, instead, they just take advantage of the the fact that what they've just heard seems to, conveniently, support their objections. If people were more honest and diligent to really study before building up objections, they would embarrass themselves less often.
That's what happens in this video - such a respected minister, who's well known for his sobriety, making himself a fool (with due respect) just because he was too lazy to spend some time to check if what he thinks about a certain topic really makes sense.
As a former protestant for over 25 years, I can say I didn't expect this kind of shallowness from someone like John Piper.

@@RealGeorgeyWashington Let us take that argument one step further. You yourself reject calling a priest father, but the text says "anyone on earth your father." Granted, we today may not call our biological fathers or our foster or stepparents father, but people throughout the centuries and certainly in the time the word of God was recorded called their fathers "father," and so we cannot exclude the name father itself as the name on its own lacks a judgment and we cannot distinguish without context. To dig a little deeper, we should be able to extrapolate that the text is saying not to call anyone on Earth God the Father or think of them in that manner, as there is one God the Father who has given us the gift of Holy Spirit through his only begotten son, Jesus. We now know we cannot exclude everyone from being called father, but there is still space to call Priests father. Priests in Catholicism are not equated to God the Father for obvious reasons, but the title remains because it was common in the time of Christ to call priests father in the sense that they are a spiritual father. Therefore, with a bit of analysis on the lack of judgment in your scriptural use of father and what we know from history, your argument falls apart. The Church has never proclaimed to be on the same grounds as Christ, God the Father, or any biblical figure. We are encouraged to become like Christ, as seen in 1 John 3:2, so we have a call to holiness and to grow in faith, the role which priests perform among other functions. That does not mean the Church proclaims or has ever proclaimed perfection or heavenly status, but we in the Catholic Church are blessed to have the fullness of the truth.

Brother In this text Actually Christ is forbidding the use of such names as spiritual titles or in ostentatious sense that gives undue spiritual authority to a human being, as if he were the source of truth rather than God. I don't believe this is always the case in the catholic church but we must be careful to guard ourselves. Blessings in our lord Jesus christ.

*Difference between Roman false gospel and the true gospel of the BIBLE*
    *Roman false gospel says:*
    - Christ's Work at the Cross is insufficient. One needs to do something to add to the Work of Christ done at the Cross to be saved.
    - Be obedient and do works of love to be saved.
    - Conditional love of GOD: GOD demands His children to do His biddings first before saving them.
*True gospel of the BIBLE says:*
    - Christ's Work at the Cross is all sufficient. One needs to do nothing to add to the work of Christ to be saved.
    - Believe in Jesus to be saved. Acts 16:30-31. Good works come naturally as true believers. Eph 2:10.
    - Unconditional love of GOD: GOD loves His children to save them when they were yet sinners.

Pagans believe in human sacrifice for sin , the true God of the Torah hates human sacrifice , how can you believe in this ? You mean the God of heaven did practice child sacrifice to save you? The Romans and other pagans believed similar things , infact their gods died for them & lived on ,why do you believe the same? Don't you think this is paganism of your faith? If this is not paganism ,then all the other things that the church believe can never be paganism as you suggest ,If NOT then the only logical conclusion is : The Bible is not true because the Catholic church corrupted it , as Islam & Muhamad in the Qur'an says : God is not the Father of Jesus , Jesus did not die for our sins ,No man can die for another man's sin. There is no unity of the Father , Son & Holy Spirit . Say no to trinity .

"Many scholars are agreed that the stories found in the Qur'an were derived from the legends and myths of Arabs, Jews, Persians, and Christians. In other words, they did not come from heaven but from earth. Their source is not Allah but human story tellers. This is why many scholars view the Qur'an as a fanciful book of ancient tales. This will not come as a surprise to anyone who actually reads the Qur'an. It is primarily composed of old fables and myths which convolute the names, dates, events, and places of biblical and secular history into incoherent fantasies. Such fantastic stories as the youths in the cave, the she camel, the monkey people and the night journey are only faint garbled reflections of the original tales.
Example: Yusuf Ali's translation and commentary on the Qur'an is well known and accepted all over the world:
In his comments on the text, he traces the stories of the Qur'an back to the original Arab, Jewish, Persian or Christian legends from which they were derived.
He does not deny the earthly sources of the Qur'an. Instead, he documents them!
If the Qur'an is a confused and jumbled record of ancient "stories" drawn from the various nations conquered by the Arabs, this becomes the most serious threat to Islam's claim of divine revelation. Maududi was right. Once we identify the sources of the Qur'an, it is no longer a revelation."

When you love you theology more than you love Jesus and his word, you maybe in trouble. Some calvinists, in my view, rant on about their theology to such an extent, it does make you wonder, which they love more. There are catholics like that, they love their RCC and their pope in the same way. Theology has nice has it may seem, will lead many to hell I fancy, because they can become totally absorbed by it. Look at hyper calvinists, look what theology did for them. In my opinion there is only one theology you need to worry about, Love God with all your heart, mind and power and love your neighbour, that's it. You can't go wrong. Most theology is just man made theology, guessing what God says, what his word says.

Do you love me?” “Yes, Lord, I love you.” “Tend my sheep.” The Greek word there is literally “shepherd my sheep,” and then of course the third time: “Do you love me? Yes, Lord, you know I love you,” and Jesus responds: “Feed my sheep.”
So we have this three-fold command from Jesus to Peter for Peter to engage in these shepherding duties: feeding the lambs, shepherding, and feeding the sheep. Catholic church changed Bible verse Gen 3:15 (And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel."). 'He' and 'His' referring to Christ. Catholics changed it to (Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; She shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise Her heel.") 'She' and 'Her' refers to Mary. 22. Catholic Church use Rev 12 to refer to Mary as 'queen of heaven', when Rev 12:6 clearly refers to Israel escaping the Great Tribulation. Mary cannot be alive to escape the Great Tribulation. 23. Catholic Church refers to Mary as 'Queen of heaven', but 'Queen of Mary' in the Bible is a demonic entity Astoreth or Ishtar, the female deity partner of Baal. 5 verses in Jeremiah as proof.24. Catholic church refers to Mary as the Mediatress, Co redemptress, helper of Christ, firstborn of all creation .. Mary cannot be the mediatress. Jesus is the one and only Mediator between God and man. Only Jesus redeems. Only the Holy Spirit is the Helper sent by Jesus. Only Jesus is the firstborn of all creation. 25. Roman Catholicism has “saints” one can pray to in order to gain a particular blessing. For example, Saint Gianna Beretta Molla is the patron saint of fertility. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals. There are multiple patron saints of healing and comfort. Nowhere is even a hint of this taught in Scripture. Just as the Roman pantheon of gods had a god of love, a god of peace, a god of war, a god of strength, a god of wisdom, etc., so the Catholic Church has a saint who is “in charge” over each of these and many other categories. Many Roman cities had a god specific to the city, and the Catholic Church provided “patron saints” for cities as well.26. Mary is called the gate of heaven? Mary has keys to paradise? Here are roman pagan teachers saying their man made goddess is their savior. None of these quotes have been denounced, on the contrary they are cited. "Open to us, O Mary, the gate of Paradise, since you have its keys! " St. Ambrose"God has entrusted the keys and treasures of Heaven to Mary." St. Thomas Aquinas "No one can enter into Heaven except through Mary, as entering through a gate. " St. Bonaventure "Mary is called "The Gate of Heaven" because no one can enter Heaven but through her means." @@Dadaistish it depends on the circumstances. If somebody is on their death bed and wants to be saved, they can cry out to God, "Lord, save me, I'm a sinner, I need your forgiveness, have mercy on me." And they will be saved.
On the other hand, in most cases, it is as Jesus taught in the gospels. There are several places where people asked Him, "what must I do to inherit eternal life? (i.e. be saved)" A good example is Luke 10:25-37. The Parable of the Good Samaritan.
"On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
“What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”
He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’[a]; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b]”
“You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”
The man wasn't convinced and went on to ask "who is my neighbour?" Jesus responded with the parable of the Good Samaritan. The message being, that the Samaritan who showed mercy on the man lying by the roadside, gained God's approval for his actions ans thus gained eternal life. While the two who walked past, did not gain God's approval.
If you want to go a bit deeper theologically, of course, there is also the fact that the blood of Christ has redeemed the world from sin, which has opened the way to make salvation possible in the first place. So ultimately any salvation is by the grace of God. Jesus is the lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world. So that has done away with the old Jewish practice of sacrificing lambs etc. and having to keep the law. Jesus has paid the price, so works of the old Jewish law are done away with.
Sorry for being so convoluted about a simple question, but there are several layers to it.

@@Dadaistish I know that God loves me so much, that He became human and sacrificed His life on the cross for me, so I could be saved. So, He obviously wants me (and everybody else) in Heaven. So, no fear in that regard about God not loving me!
Second, I know (through faith ultimately) that I am redeemed by the blood of Christ. I am walking daily in a relationship with God and have confessed every sin I am aware of. So, if I were to die right now, I believe I would be saved (trusting in the promises in the scripture).
Now (and here is where Catholic theology differs from many Protestants) it is POSSIBLE that between now and the end of my earthly life, I might reject God. I have no intention of doing so. But the Christian life is a spiritual battle and satan never sleeps.
As St Paul said: "I do not run aimlessly, I do not box as one beating the air but I pummel my body and subdue it, lest after preaching others, I myself might be disqualified." (1 Corinthians 9:27)
I have no intention of falling away from God, and have the promise "Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling.... etc" I'm sure you know the verse from Jude.
But I guess this is where there is a subtle difference between Catholic theology and the "once saved, always saved" viewpoint. I don't want to pre-judge that, because I don' like attacking somebody's believe when I don't know all the nuances of it. But it seems (to my probably ill-informed understanding) that some Protestants believe that as long as they have prayed the sinner's prayer and been "born again": then they are saved, no matter what they might do from that point.
Martin Luther is supposed to have said he could commit adultery 100 times a day and it wouldn't affect his salvation. (That's only hearsay, so maybe he didn't actually say that). That would be heresy according to Catholic theology.

I tried to find in churches/religion what I had experienced, and the simple truth that was revealed to me through scripture, but couldnt find it.
Thats I believe a problem with religion. They take something so pure an simple like the gospel, the cross, the grace, and make it complicated, adding on to it. I would suggest, keep it simple and clean as it is.
Jesus did all the work for us because we couldnt and we cant. All we "do" is turning to Him but it is Him pulling us towards Him. He knows how weak and useless we are. Sinners! We deserve to go to hell, but by no longer relying on our own rightiousness but on Christ alone, who justifies us, we can live. By grace.

6:12 I don't think Scripture supports this position, because John 6 says "52 The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us [his] flesh to eat?” 53 Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.” And 1 Cor 11 says, "27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the body and blood of the Lord. 28 A person should examine himself, and so eat the bread and drink the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself." I've recently converted from the protestant faith to catholicism.
The beliefs about baptismal regeneration and the real presence in the eucharist are older than scripture and coherent with scripture (Christ says his flesh is real food, and Paul tells us we must discern the body when we eat). Read the Christians who knew the apostles and its clear they beleived that Christ was truly present in the bread and wine. I don't care about winning an argument on the internet, but each week I go and meet with the real Christ. I want to bring my protestant brothers and sisters with me.
While some of these points are engaging with the catholic faith as it actually is, many are engaging with just a misunderstanding. Indulgences do not forgive sin as protestants understand it. The catholic faith teaches that those in a state of grace are completely forgiven of sin by no merits of their own. Catholics distinguish between the eternal consequences of sin (hell) and the temporal consequences of sin (broken relationship, dicispline, a hindered relationship with God etc) it is these temporal consequences that are addressed by indulgences. These indulgences are spirtual practices that mend our relationship with God and have the approval of the church. Similarly purgatory is not a second chance, its is, instead a period of purification (like the fire mentioned in 1 Corinthians 3:15). It also addresses only the temporal effects of sin. All who enter purgatory are heaven bound.

@@stevenanderson9660 Grace is different from" faith alone" you see the Martin Luther theology adds " we are saved by faith alone" this is not scriptural . We are saved by grace alone ,through faith not "faith alone" the only time faith alone is used is by Apostle James see what he says James 2:14-24
[14]My brothers and sisters, what good is it for people to say that they have faith if their actions do not prove it? Can that faith save them?
[15]Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and don't have enough to eat.
[16]What good is there in your saying to them, “God bless you! Keep warm and eat well!” - if you don't give them the necessities of life?
[17]So it is with faith: if it is alone and includes no actions, then it is dead.
[18]But someone will say, “One person has faith, another has actions.” My answer is, “Show me how anyone can have faith without actions. I will show you my faith by my actions.”
[19]Do you believe that there is only one God? Good! The demons also believe - and tremble with fear.
[20]You fool! Do you want to be shown that faith without actions is useless?
[21]How was our ancestor Abraham put right with God? It was through his actions, when he offered his son Isaac on the altar.
[22]Can't you see? His faith and his actions worked together; his faith was made perfect through his actions.
[23]And the scripture came true that said, “Abraham believed God, and because of his faith God accepted him as righteous.” And so Abraham was called God's friend.
[24]You see, then, that it is by people's actions that they are put right with God, and not by their faith alone.( Because of this scripture ,Martin Luther removed James from his initial version only to be opposed by his friends ). So we can not be saved by faith alone : Faith is followed by works : That is why once you recieve the grace of faith ,you move forward and get baptism (work1) , then love , fellowship , without these works many will loose their salvation , Christ is clear
      Matthew 25:31-46
[31]“When the Son of Man comes as King and all the angels with him, he will sit on his royal throne,
[32]and the people of all the nations will be gathered before him. Then he will divide them into two groups, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
[33]He will put the righteous people on his right and the others on his left.
[34]Then the King will say to the people on his right, ‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father! Come and possess the kingdom which has been prepared for you ever since the creation of the world.
[35]I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you received me in your homes,
[36]naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me, in prison and you visited me.’
[37]“The righteous will then answer him, ‘When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink?
[38]When did we ever see you a stranger and welcome you in our homes, or naked and clothe you?
[39]When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?’
[40]The King will reply, ‘I tell you, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these members of my family, you did it for me!’
[41]“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Away from me, you that are under God's curse! Away to the eternal fire which has been prepared for the Devil and his angels!
      [42]I was hungry but you would not feed me, thirsty but you would not give me a drink;
[43]I was a stranger but you would not welcome me in your homes, naked but you would not clothe me; I was sick and in prison but you would not take care of me.’
[44]“Then they will answer him, ‘When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and would not help you?’
[45]The King will reply, ‘I tell you, whenever you refused to help one of these least important ones, you refused to help me.’
[46]These, then, will be sent off to eternal punishment, but the righteous will go to eternal life.”

@@stevenanderson9660 The problem is , you believe you can be saved by faith alone & James says " Faith without works can not save you, It is dead !!!" My belief is with James , I have faith and I do works because I need both for salvation , your teaching says " your saved by faith alone , no need for works " . The Lord is using the works to decide whether your faith in Him was meaningless or meaningful . So which one do you stand for ! Do we just need to have faith without works or we need faith with works ? The other problem is ,you think the Catholic church teaches you need works alone to be saved ,NO. You need both faith and works . If it is just faith alone then every one who believes in Jesus would automatically enter eternal life ,the scripture speaks contrary . You need to be baptised Acts2, Peter said to them " Be baptised for the remission of your sins " if your Baptist you get into further trouble because you believe baptism is not necessary for salvation . Now baptism is a physical work of Spiritual salvation ! Prophet Ezekiel says this about it in Ezekiel 36: 24 For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land. 25 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. 28 Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God. 29 I will deliver you from all your uncleannesses.( Don't lie about Jesus in Mathew 25, he is not judging nations for not having faith ,but for not working in His Vine yard to bear fruit ) Also he adds in John 15: John 15:1-6
[1]“I am the real vine, and my Father is the gardener.
[2]He breaks off every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and he prunes every branch that does bear fruit, so that it will be clean and bear more fruit.
[3]You have been made clean already by the teaching I have given you.
[4]Remain united to me, and I will remain united to you. A branch cannot bear fruit by itself; it can do so only if it remains in the vine. In the same way you cannot bear fruit unless you remain in me.
[5]“I am the vine, and you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me.
[6]Whoever does not remain in me is thrown out like a branch and dries up; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, where they are burnt.( Now to remain in Jesus is to have faith in Him, but to bear fruit is to have works , now look ,you can remain in Him and not bear fruit , what will happen to you?He says the Father will cut you off ,you will dry and burn in. Yes, indeed, and you are right. The Baptism is the 1st Sacrament a Catholic receives which open the doors to other Sacraments. Our Lord ordered the Apostles "baptize and then teach to OBSERVE ALL I have commanded (Matt 28:19-20)." This Divine order was given to His Church, and no other churches have Divine permission to give this Sacrament (because they reject His Church, and thereby reject also Our Lord). Therefore, the baptism given in protestant churches are invalid -- means they are not reborn in spirit at all. The Sacrament of Baptism removes the stain of the Original Sin, forgives personal sins committed up to that time, and restores the Sanctifying Grace in the soul. Without the sanctifying Grace, one cannot enter Heaven.

Interesting how you left the "Spirit" part out of it. Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit".
Baptism is symbolic and it's not what saves you, being born again is a Spiritual transformation and it happens by faith alone which is why baptism of babies is not biblical. The Catholic church does not live by the Bible alone so they can claim to be the "divine universal only true" church of God and control people. Hum I know other organizations that do that (Mormons and Jehova Witnesses)

@@kaboom9081 Your understanding is completely wrong. The Baptism is one of the seven Sacraments Our Lord instituted in His One, Holy, Catholic (Universal), Apostolic Church, His Body. The Sacrament of Baptism makes the baptized a member of His Church (e.g., Acts 2:41, 9:18), removing the stain of the Original Sin and restoring the Grace (that was lost due to the Original Sin) in his soul so that God dwells in the soul. The dead soul before the Baptism is re-born and alive again through this Sacrament. People outside of the Catholic Church presume that they are re-born, but it is far from the Truth. 'Desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither the things they say nor whereof they affirm (1 Tim 1:7)' applies to them. Our Lord is the Savior of His Body (Eph 5:23), namely true members of His Church. Anyone, who truly believes and is destined to be redeemed, comes to His Church, where Our Lord remains always until the end of ages (Matt 28:20)!

I have so many issues with the catholic church including purgatory, rosary, elevating Mary to worship status, statues idolatry, the pope which by the way, the papacy didn't exist until the 300's and Peter was married and he never went to Rome. All catholic traditions come from Roman idolatry mixed with the Gospel. They don't walk by faith but what they can see which is opposite to what Jesus taught.
Baptism is a step of obedience for all who have come to faith in Christ. The water is symbolic of our old self dying and the new person being born again Spiritually but both water and Spirit are separate things. There is NO holy water and it has no power. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is what has Power to regenerate a sinner into a child of God. Once you are sealed by the Holy Spirit you do NOT lose your salvation and no, your salvation does not depend on being a "member" of a self-proclaimed organized man-made religion. You make it sound like you're a member of an elite club. Yeah sounds pretty cult-ish to me. Jesus is a personal God and He wants a personal relationship with YOU, not become another Pharisee.

Catholic doctrine is at one with the bible (we compiled it around 397 AD Council of Rome and the Synod of Hippo ) and if you think otherwise you don't know Catholic doctrine and/ or the bible.

@Asaph Vapor I have corrected these before. I will just do a few to show Firstly nowhere in the bible that Catholics compiled around 395 ad Council of Rome and Synod of Hippo does it say "bible alone" Secondly you know you are wrong if you think you have found a contradiction between the bible and catholic teaching as there is none. three nowhere in the bible does it say Mary sinned. Mary was a perpetual virgin. Brothers and sisters refers to deep friends and wider relatives such as cousins. We are told to as for forgiveness from God alone but this is through HIS ordained ministers "whatever sins you forgive they are forgiven .... you retain they are retained..." John 6 Jesus says three times "You must eat my body and drink my blood" We have 14 scripture quotes to back this up. (Acts 15 refers to drinking human blood... The bible says you need to do a lot more than "believe in Jesus" John 3 Baptism John 6 + 14 other references for the Eucharist. ….. Jesus said love GOD AND YOUR NEIGHBOUR...……..

alelectricll // Take for instance Martin Luther’s approach to the Law/Grace dichotomy. Yes, we absolutely do not earn our salvation. But repentance is an act, even faith is an act of the intellect-these are not saving acts, but they are the means of opening the soul to have the saving grace of God poured therein. If I were to believe that I didn’t need to repent of my lifestyles of willful sins (which doesn’t just mean feel kind of guilty sometimes for my sins, while continuing to willfully live in direct disobedience to God in them, but to resolve, by the help of God’s Grace not to do them again) to be saved.
When Paul spoke of the Law, he was speaking specifically about the Jewish Law, not the Law of Saving Faith, which requires genuine repentance (which means to turn away) from sins. (That doesn’t mean you won’t sin again, or even daily, but... you see this is where the mortal sin-venial sin dichotomy is so helpful. It’s what Paul meant when he said, “those who practice these things will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven”... they’re lifestyles and choices of willful sin that one must resolve not to do, and if you do commit them, to turn from them again, to be saved. That is literally what the perseverance of the Saints is. Those who are destined to eternal life will literally persevere to the end, by God’s Grace. [We can’t know people’s hearts... but more often than not, their actions and their words come from the heart.])

    Continued:
    10) The Virgin Mary, the Mother of our Blessed Lord. Once you settle the issue of the non-Biblical evidence of "faith alone, scripture alone," and realize that one Church has consistently interpreted, taught, and defended the faith and new testament of the Living God, the Marian Doctrine becomes clearer. Per the Douay Rheims 1582 translation (more accurate than the KJV,) Gabirel greets Mary. "And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women." [Luke 1:28] Gabriel "Strenght of God," gives Mary divine greeting, the only time it is such in Scripture. "Full of Grace" "Gratia Plena" "Chaire, Kecharitomene," means "you" were perfected in grace in the past and remained perfect until the present time. This is the same quality of the sanctifying grace St. Pauls describes in Ephesians 1:6-14, Christ's regeneration of us through grace to be made perfect in him, "[6] Unto the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he hath graced us in his beloved son. [7] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins, according to the riches of his grace, [8] Which hath superabounded in us in all wisdom and prudence, [9] That he might make known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure, which he hath purposed in him, [10] In the dispensation of the fulness of times, to re-establish all things in Christ, that are in heaven and on earth, in him. [11] In whom we also are called by lot, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things according to the counsel of his will. [12] That we may be unto the praise of his glory, we who before hoped in Christ: [13] In whom you also, after you had heard the word of truth, (the gospel of your salvation;) in whom also believing, you were signed with the holy Spirit of promise, [14] Who is the pledge of our inheritance, unto the redemption of acquisition, unto the praise of his glory. [15] Wherefore I also, hearing of your faith that is in the Lord Jesus, and of your love towards all the saints."
Full of Grace is Mary's name to God the Father, for she is the new Eve of the New Covenant that is the gateway Jesus Christ uses to not only carry out his mission, but also restores the fall of the old Adam and old Eve. Christ is the New Adam, Mary the new Eve, and it must be so because only a uncreated being: fully God and fully man, the God-Man could accomplish the restoration of His fallen creation from Satan. Mary is also the ark of the new covenant, as the old ark carried: the word of God (the ten commandments), bread from heaven (mana) and the rod of Aaron (the High Priest), Mary in her womb for nine months carried: the word of God ((became flesh) to (dwell among us)), the bread of Life (John 6), and the High Priest (of the order of Melchizedek) who as St. Johns writes: ""And I saw: and behold in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the ancients, a Lamb standing as it were slain, having seven horns and seven eyes: which are the seven Spirits of God, sent forth into all the earth. [7] And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat on the throne. [8] And when he had opened the book, the four living creatures, and the four and twenty ancients fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints: [9] And they sung a new canticle, saying: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to take the book, and to open the seals thereof; because thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God, in thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation. [10] And hast made us to our God a kingdom and priests, and we shall reign on the earth." [Apocalypse (Revelation) 5:6]."
Scripture declares Mary as the Mother of God, vice only the Mother of Jesus (man only), "And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" [Luke 1:43]
To miss this key part would be to fall to Arianism (4th Century Heresy, condemned at the Council of Nicea); the heresy stated Jesus was not God, but rather a created being. Additionally, going back to "Full of Grace," God cannot dwell in the presence of sin nor enter a corrupted vessel that would be under the authority of Satan. Mary, "Full of Grace" allows for this not to happen.
Lastly, one of the most beautiful verses of Revelation, and definitive for the Church to say Mary is the "Queen of Heaven," is the entire Chapter 12 of Revelation.
We feel this is sufficient for now but can also reference: Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation (Confession), Purgatory, Bishops, Priests, Deacons, Bishop of Rome (aka the Pope), Pope and Trinity, Romans: St. Paul vs. Martin Luther.
Thus we leave you with "To him be glory and empire forever and ever. Amen. Beseeching and testifying that this is the true grace of God, wherein you stand. Salute one another with a holy kiss. Grace be to all you, who are in Christ Jesus. Amen."

    11. Catholics has clergy priesthood. Bible says clergy priesthood was done away with in New Testament. There is no clergy priesthood in NT. Heb 7:27, 9:12, 10:10.
    12. Catholics preaches Works Salvation (faith + good works + partake R sacraments + submit to R pontiff + be in R Church + devote to Mary = to be saved). Yet Bible says “believe in Jesus to be saved”. Bible says Works Salvation is cursed. Gal 1:8-9. Acts 16:30-31, John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10.
    13. Catholics says they must do Penance to atone for their sins. Yet Bible says repent, confess and sins will be forgiven. Catholic Bible changes the word “repentance” in NT into “penance”. Original Greek NT does not use or mean the word penance. Penance = work to atone for sins. Repentance = change of heart. 1 John 1:9, Mat 6.
    14. Catholics say Mary went straight to heaven without dying. Yet Bible says nothing about it.

First of all I’m no Roman Catholic but I have experience of an Anglo-Catholic Christian face though the Anglican denomination in the UK.
I would take issue with you in what you say about any kind of Catholic worshipping Mary. Like you I would agree that she is our Lord’s physical Mother, I would also agree with you that she is a true example of obedience to God, God’s will and God’s promises. In fact even in the Scripture she is called ‘blessed’ along with the infant Christ she carries in her Womb. My understanding is simply that Catholics ask Mary to bring their prayers to God the Father. Of course they also go to the Father directly through our Lord Jesus Christ. Okay, I’m not a full Catholic and I could not believe that the bread and wine change into God’s body through the mass. However, even as an Anglican communicant I will accept that the Bread and the Wine are symbolic of Christ body given for me for the forgiveness of sins and to reconcile me to God the Father.

But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every fact may be confirmed. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

@@bridgefin Losers? What do you define as a "loser."
I was referring to cults who punish their members for not adhering to their false doctrines. Jesus will never cut you off if you truly repent before you die (such as your case.)
This is the meaning of Matthew 18: 15-17
What should the community of believers do if someone does fall into sin? How can they both take sinfulness seriously and attempt to bring the sinner back to faithfulness? Jesus gives a process for doing exactly that.
He begins by describing a scenario in which one among them sins. Some scholars question how the words "against you" should be read in this verse. Some earlier Greek manuscripts don't have those two words, simply saying "If your brother sins." Is Jesus talking about someone who sins only against another believer? Or someone who offends or does something disagreeable? Or is this someone who sins in any obviously and truly clear way? It's reasonable that the same process should be applied in all cases.
If another believer in Jesus sins against us-or if we become aware of the clear and obvious sin of another Jesus-follower-Jesus insists that the first step is always to have a private conversation with the person. This is often the most effective step in helping anyone to recognize and repent from sin. However, it's only likely to work if one approaches that person in childlike love and humility and without despising him or her. The goal is to keep this person as a brother or sister, not to shame or humiliate them.
If the result is not repentance, and we are still convinced of this person's ongoing sin, it is time to carefully bring someone else into the conversation (Matthew 18:16).
This is the second step in a process Jesus taught His disciples for confronting believers who have sinned or are continuing to sin. The beginning of the process involves only the person who is wronged and the one who has sinned. Or, perhaps, it involves the person who has witnessed another person sinning in some specific way. In either case, one person approaches another about the sin. The goal is confession and repentance in order to restore the relationship (Matthew 18:15).
More often than we realize, a simple conversation between two people is all that is needed for someone to admit wrongdoing and to begin to make different choices. Sometimes, though, the sinful person refuses to see their sin. He or she may deny it. They may refuse to stop.
If that is the case, Jesus now describes the next step in the process. The person who initiated the complaint should return, this time with a small group, such as one or two other people. Jesus is confirming here the principle established in the law in Deuteronomy 19:15, "A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or for any wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. Only on the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses shall a charge be established."
There are clear advantages to making this the next step in conflict resolution. The addition of one or two other people still keeps the matter fairly private. The goal remains repentance and restoration, not public shaming. However, adding more witnesses ensures that the issue is not merely about differing opinions or perspectives. Both the accuser and the accused have the opportunity to make their case to a third party. It may even be decided by those new participants that it's the accuser, not the accused, who is in the wrong.
If the additional witnesses agree that the accused is participating in sin, he or she has the opportunity to repent. Otherwise, the witnesses can confirm to the larger body in the next step of the process the refusal to repent (Matthew 18:17)..
If not, the accuser must recruit one or two other people to return with him or her to the sinful person and try again. Ideally, additional witnesses will objectively establish the truth. This is an opportunity to weed out rivalry or misunderstanding or inconclusive difference of perspective. However, if those new participants agree sin has taken place, this gives the wrongful one another chance to admit the sin, repent, and make things right (Matthew 18:16).
Now Jesus prescribes what must happen if the sinful person continues to refuse repentance and restoration. The accuser and the witnesses must accept the unpleasant task of presenting the situation to the church or the assembly. Again, ideally, those assembled as believers in Jesus will hear the issue and agree with the accused and the witnesses that sin has taken place. If the larger body does not agree wrong has been done, the process would stop here. If they do agree the accused is wrong, he or she is given one last chance to repent and make things right, now in a public setting.
Finally, if the sinfulness of the accused has been established and he or she continues to refuse to repent and make things right, then the church is to begin to treat this person as an outsider-in essence, as if they were a non-Christian. Jesus' description of this consequence, using the examples of tax collectors and Gentiles, shows He is talking to His group of Jewish disciples within the context of their Jewish culture. The Jewish religious community also had a process for removing someone from their community who was in rebellion against God.
It's important to understand that none of these steps involve treating the unrepentant person with disrespect. Jewish people had working relationships with Gentiles and even tax collectors. They simply did not allow them into the heart of their community and religious life. It's also important to notice that Jesus is not describing these excommunicated people as condemned by God at this point. As Paul will show in 1 Corinthians 5:1-13, the goal for the church remains the restoration of the sinful person once he or she has finally come to repentance.
Also, it should be noted that banishment from a community should never be practiced lightly. Christian leaders should never despise those under their care, even those in rebellion. Much harm has been done by Christian leaders who have mishandled the application of this passage. The final step in this process should only ever be entered into with humility and great love for everyone involved-it is literally presented as the last resort.

@@bridgefin This is the meaning of 1 Timothy 1:20
Two examples of those who had "shipwrecked" their faith are the focus of this verse: Hymenaeus and Alexander. According to the prior verse, these men did not merely wander from the faith. They made a purposeful choice to reject a clear conscience, and the result was a destruction of their spiritual lives. Based on other comments in the New Testament, it is doubtful either of these men were legitimate believers.
Hymenaeus is also mentioned in 2 Timothy 2:16-18: "But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, and their talk will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have swerved from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are upsetting the faith of some." Apparently, at that point, Hymenaeus will be claiming that the resurrection of the dead had already taken place, distressing believers through his false teaching and ungodly living.
Alexander was a common name from the period, and there are multiple people with that name in the New Testament. A Jew named Alexander is mentioned in Ephesus in Acts 19:33-34. It is unclear whether this is the same man Paul mentioned. Second Timothy 4:14-15, however, seems to indicate the same person referred to here: "Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds. Beware of him yourself, for he strongly opposed our message."
Both Hymenaeus and Alexander are presented as actively opposing believers and Christian teachings. Paul had "handed them over to Satan," meaning he had stayed away from them so God could deal with them. The point of Paul's action is not to punish, but to inspire repentance and reconciliation (as in 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15).

I like to say it this way.... Roman Catholic aren't Christian, but some Christians are Roman Catholics. The point is being a Christian apart from anything. But saying that it is really troublesome considering the Bible itself would condemn RC theology... For example i Tim 4:1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,
3 men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth.
Hard to see if the RC church wants to advocate celibacy for priests/nuns that they are doing so on any Bliblical basis, on the contrary, as a Christian we are to avoid even the appearance of evil... So that kind of puts the nail on the head that RC's aren't Christians, or as we see the Bible call out "Want fellowship does light have with darkness...?" Plenty more points once can point out as blatant problems between RC doctrine, and yep would say any one would disqualify it as a orthodox authentic Church within the one true and only Church in Christ where God/Christ is the head of..

The world needs to see that we are not in Martin Luther's time. We are not in an era where an elite few read the scripture. This is the USA where Roman Catholic Education has taught the bible for decades to students, mostly young but also old. The followers in the USA and other nations (many of which are literate nations) have been exposed, read, and studied in detail the bible. The practitioners of Catholicism are very much readers of scripture. In addition, it has been made abundantly clear that Catholic teaching IS in fact found in scriptures and the Catholic Church is the one holy apostolic church founded by Jesus Christ.
My Catholic brothers and sisters, be steadfast in your faith, but think of the slowness to anger our Lord possesses and while no one can substitute Jesus, there is hope that we may show patience and love for all those who have fled away from home. As St. Paul said in 1st Corinthians "Let there be no divisions in the Church."
One cannot deny the divisions in Christianity that have propagated as a result of the Protestant Reformation. While the Church in Luther's time may have needed reform, it did not need a reformation.
Peace my Protestant brothers and sisters.

Beloved, Jehovah's Witnesses certainly study the Bible more than Romanists, yet they are still heretical. The main issues bears repeating:
      1. It the Word that forms the Church and not the Church that forms the Word. The Word has always been in existence (being God Himself). The Spirit inspired men to write down aspects of it, and it reached its fullest expression in the life and teachings of Christ. It is the Word that is infallible and not the Pope or the Church. It’s untrue that the OT was not regarded as Scripture until some Church Council said so. Jesus and the Apostles regarded the OT as settled Scripture. Evidence for this is in every single book of the NT. The Church merely accepted the OT Scriptures as they are. They also accepted all books that had Apostolic authority as the NT. The Church Councils had no choice whatsoever in the matter.
      2. The claims of Rome rest solely on the revisionist notion of Peter the first Pope. I cringe when Romanists drag the blessed name of St Peter into their heresy. Peter was primus inter pares (first among equals) but NEVER a Pope. In fact, at the very first Council (of Jerusalem) James presided and gave the final ruling, even though Peter was present. Paul regarded himself as equal to Peter, and wrote letters to Churches he did NOT found, without referring to the need to check things with a Pontiff. Peter refers to Paul's teachings as authoritative, while Paul denounced Peter's teachings as heretical. In fact, Paul wrote to the Church of Rome, without any reference to Peter. The Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster would not write a letter to the Vatican without any reference to the Pope. If Peter was an infallible pontiff (like the heretical Pope Pius the IX claimed), the NT would have no encyclicals from any of the other Apostles. Just like in today's RC Church, only Popes write encyclicals. Peter as pontiff is the revisionist creation of unscrupulous papists. Sir, you have been duped.
      3. Papal infallibility is far more pernicious than most people realize. Among many ill effects, lets state only five:
      i. It quenches the Spirit: that is why RC hymn writers are often converts or ecumenists. Cardinal Newman could not have written “Souls of men” if he did not have the fortune of starting life as an Anglican. When Romanists sing "Amazing Grace" or "Blessed Assurance" or "Abide with me" one often wonders if they realize that their own church members have a psychological block from attaining such levels of Christian expression mainly because of the Romanist ethos of infallibility which situates inspiration in an artificial mechanism rather than in the Word of God.
ii. It quenches accountability of the hierarchy - there is “trickle-down” quasi-infallibility of Cardinals, Bishops and even ordinary priests and religious. Many Romanist parish priests speak "ex cathedra" in their own little corners even more stridently than the Supreme Pontiff. That is what is at the root of the explosive scandals. That is also why Pope Francis can ignore very valid appeals for him to be accountable.
iii. It quenches interest in the Word of God - why bother when one man has all the answers?
iv. It quenches Evangelism - people are not eager to spread a Word which is not definitive but is subject to tinkering and "interpretation" through a system led by a man who is elected by a fallible conclave. That is why the vast majority of converts to Christianity become evangelical Christians. Romanism is a dead end.

Yes, we ask Mary to intercede for us, e.g. go to God and ask for help for us. It is no different than if you go and ask a friend to pray for you. The only difference is that Mary and the saints and angels aren't alive on Earth like we are.

    The Council of Trent declared:
“ . . . if they [men] were not born again in Christ, they would never be justified, since in that new birth there is bestowed upon them, through the merit of His passion, the grace by which they are made just . .
He laid down the conditions of salvation thus: "He that believeth and is baptized," said the Son of the Living God, "shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be condemned" (Luke 16:16). Here, then, Our Blessed Lord laid down the two conditions of salvation: Faith and Baptism. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be condemned - or is damned
Catholics not Born again Justin who died for his faith said in 151 A.D.
“As many as are persuaded and believe that what we [Christians] teach and say is true . . . are brought by us where there is water and are regenerated in the same manner in which we were ourselves regenerated. For, in the name of God the Father . . . and of our Savior Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Spirit [Matt. 28:19], they then receive the washing with water. For Christ also said,‘Unless you are born again, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven’ [John 3:3]” (First Apology 61).
Around 190 A.D., Irenaeus, the bishop of Lyons, wrote, “And [Naaman] dipped himself . . . seven times in the Jordan’ [2 Kgs. 5:14]. It was not for nothing that Naaman of old, when suffering from leprosy, was purified upon his being baptized, but [this served] as an indication to us. For as we are lepers in sin, we are made clean, by means of the sacred water and the invocation of the Lord, from our old transgressions, being spiritually regenerated as newborn babes, even as the Lord has declared: ‘Except a man be born again through water and the Spirit, he shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven’ [John 3:5]” (Fragment 34).
In the year 252 A.D., Cyprian, the bishop of Carthage, said that when those becoming Christians “receive also the baptism of the Church . . . then finally can they be fully sanctified and be the sons of God . . . since it is written, ‘Except a man be born again of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God’ [John 3:5]” (Letters 71[72]:1).
Augustine wrote, “From the time he [Jesus] said, ‘Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven’ [John 3:5], and again, ‘He that loses his life for my sake shall find it’ [Matt. 10:39], no one becomes a member of Christ except it be either by baptism in Christ or death for Christ” (On the Soul and Its Origin 1:10 [A.D. 419]).
Augustine also taught, “It is this one Spirit who makes it possible for an infant to be regenerated . . . when that infant is brought to baptism; and it is through this one Spirit that the infant so presented is reborn. For it is not written, ‘Unless a man be born again by the will of his parents’ or ‘by the faith of those presenting him or ministering to him,’ but, ‘Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit’ [John 3:5]. The water, therefore, manifesting exteriorly the sacrament of grace, and the Spirit effecting interiorly the benefit of grace, both regenerate in one Christ that man who was generated in Adam” (Letters 98:2 [A.D. 408]).
ONE LORD ONE FATIH ONE BAPTISM “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all” (Ephesians 4:4-6) The one baptism (and the only valid baptism), is the baptism of the one faith, the baptism authorized by the one Lord and practiced by the one body, the church of Christ. “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body” (1 Corinthians 12:13).
"Are you born again-the way the Bible understands that concept?" If the Evangelical has not been properly water baptized, he has not been born again "the Bible way," regardless of what he may think. The Born Again Movement traces its origin early in the 19th century.Born Again Movement arrived at our shores in the late 1930’s and gained its popularity in the 70’s and 80’s which is considered the golden era of Born Again Movement During these years membership in various Born Again Churches increased because they where able to infiltrate mainline Protestant Churches and had lured nominal Catholics into their fold. However their steady growth ceases starting the year 1990 and their membership declined in the succeeding years. In the year 2000 Born Again Churches from the United States sent their missionaries in the Philippines to re-established the Born Again Movement and this time their primary mission is no longer to infiltrate Protestant and Catholic Churches but targeted the youth in schools particularly college students.Born Again evangelist does not want to discuss the history of the Christian church, in their Bible studies with their prospects, they intentionally limit the discussion to the Bible alone. They conceal the history of the Christian religion because it will show that their movement did not originate from the apostles. It is necessary for them to negate history because St. Paul warned us not to accept teachings that did not originate from the apostles Gal.1:8 and Born Again Movement evidently cannot trace the history of their church into the time of the apostles.Clearly Born Again evangelization has deception as its chief foundation and they even used selected passages from the Bible to deceive people. They usually start evangelizing by asking ambiguous questions such as “Are you saved?” or “Are you born again?”, if the person answers “no or I don’t know” they will tell you that you must accept Christ as a Lord and Personal Savior in order to be born again otherwise you will be damned to hell. And if the person will answer “yes” they will invite you to their church and worship with them. And if the person is a Catholic that would mean that you have to leave the Catholic Church and do away your Catholic beliefs about Mary, the Saints, confession etc. Let us be vigilant not to fall to the snares of the Born Again movement.

An excellent response to the question though I for one DO have a problem with referring to Mary as the Blessed Virgin.
It is true that Mary was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus, but she and her husband Joseph went on to have a number of other children in the more natural way.

      @Rowan Flynn
This is NOT true. Jesus Christ was an only child. The New Testament authors translated the Old Testament into Greek in the Septuagint. When they did, they translated the Hebrew word "ah" (which is a GENERAL term meaning: family, relative, kinsman), with the Greek word "adelphos". Protestant fundamentalists attempt to take a word which is GENERAL in usage (He is a member of my family, my relative, my brethren, my kinsman) and INVEST IT WITH the connotation that it names a SPECIFIC type of relative (a direct biological sibling; that is, a "brother" or "sister"). It does not have that meaning. In addition, Jesus Christ Himself "spiritualized" the 1st century AD understanding of "family" for the People of God of Israel by teaching "who is my mother and my family? They who do the will of God and keep it." In other words, EVEN MORE IMPORTANT than my own flesh and blood (biologically speaking) are those who are faithful to God and His teachings (which would include people who aren't in one's immediate family - a teaching which would have astounded His 1st century AD Jewish audience for whom the 'nation of Israel' was the "chosen nation", the "chosen People", the "household of God". To even SUGGEST that non-Jewish Gentiles ("goyim") could be "saved" was preposterous. So EVEN IN the verses where "adelphos" is used, NOT ONLY is it a GENERAL TERM which could mean ANY relative (immediate or extended family), but JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF spiritualized the meaning of "family" to include His Jewish disciples, the Jewish Apostles, AND God-fearing Gentiles.
The VIRGIN BIRTH of Jesus Christ is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to belief in the divinity of Jesus Christ. IF Jesus Christ was merely fathered by the conjugal union of Joseph and Mary, we are YET IN OUR TRESPASSES AND SINS. Only an incarnate, fully human being who is ALSO fully GOD could provide an infinite and eternal offering for the sins of the whole of human kind. IF Jesus Christ is merely another human being, generated the way the rest of the mass of humanity is conceived, then Christianity is a sham and we are still lost in our trespasses and sins.
And after Christ's birth, you have no way of "proving" that YOUR Protestant fundamentalist interpretation of those passages is THE only possible interpretation. If you go back to the verses in question and substitute the Hebrew term / understanding "ah" (relative, family member, brethren, kinsman) for the Greek word "adelphos" (which fundamentalists incorrectly interpret to mean "brother" or "sister"), it NOT ONLY doesn't change the meaning of the verse, it actually FITS BETTER as a translation that the specific term they seek to incorrectly invest it with, particularly in light of Jesus Christ's own teaching that each and every disciple who does the will of God is His "mother and relative".

You are changing the intent of my post, sir. I am NOT saying the "New Testament is NOT God's Word...in other words its been translated incorrectly,...". Those are YOUR words, NOT mine. That was NOT the intent of my post. You misunderstand what I wrote and are mischaracterizing it.
What I myself was saying, was that the word in question, IN THE ORIGINAL GREEK (for those who do not understand what I am saying, the "Bible" was written in three languages: Tanakh (what Christians call the 'Old Testament') was written in HEBREW, the New Testment was written in 'koine GREEK' (common Greek or low Greek, not the 'high' Greek of the educated and scholarly) AND ARAMAIC (the dialect of Hebrew JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF spoke):
the word in question is "ADELPHOS". "ADELPHOS" was the 'koine Greek' word which the authors of the New Testament documents (let me be clear here: the "Bible" was written by HUMAN authors who were DIVINELY INSPIRED by the Holy Spirit) chose to translate the HEBREW word "ah". In the original Hebrew "ah" is a GENERAL TERM which means an unspecified "family member", "relative", "kinsman", "brethren". It is NOT a SPECIFIC TERM which designates a SPECIFIC RELATIVE (a direct biological sibling such as a "brother" or "sister").
Translators have to make WORD CHOICES to use terms into one language (in the language the readers themselves speak and read), FROM A LANGUAGE his readers do not themselves read or speak. Words in one language may have many uses, many meanings, or have a richer, fuller meaning, that the word IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE does not, in fact, have (that is, the same depth or nuance of meaning).
Let me be perfectly clear. "Adelphos" is the word the New Testament authors chose UNDER DIVINE INSPIRATION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT to translate Tanakh / the Old Testament FROM HEBREW into GREEK. They were translating the Hebrew word "ah" (meaning 'family member', 'relative', 'brethren', 'kinsman'), a GENERAL TERM into GREEK, and used the word "adelphos". They therefore MEANT TO INVEST the Greek word "adelphos" with the meaning the HEBREW word "ah" has, which is, in fact, a GENERAL TERM (relative), NOT a specific relation (sister, brother).

      @the sweaty pro
Your post is a contradiction to itself. You yourself "received Christ" in the Catholic religion, therefore, as St. Paul says, you should "so walk ye in Him". Yet you denounce it. Makes no sense.
I'll wager you $100 you don't even know the etymology and original meaning of the word "religion" it has taken on so many negative connotations because of those who have claimed to be guides from within it, who went on to scandalize their disciples (I am thinking here of Jimmy Swaggart, Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, Catholic priests who engaged in pedophilia, etc).
The English word "religion" comes from a Latin root word, "religare" which originally meant, "to bind back to". "Religion" is what "binds us back to" God: it is the beliefs, morality, practices and rituals which comprise our faith in, hope in, and love for God. "Religion", in and of itself, CANNOT be bad. Why?
Because Jesus Christ Himself stepped down out of eternity and infinity and into time and space as a first century AD Hebrew WHO PRACTICED HIS RELIGION PERFECTLY, and THEREBY WON OUR REDEMPTION AND SALVATION for us RECONCILING US WITH GOD.
The 'bad apples' don't define whether or not a 'religion' is good or bad. Is baseball bad because Darryl Strawberry was high on cocaine when he gave us some of the most memorable moments of baseball history? Or when Marc Maguire was really shooting up steroids to go on and break the all time batting record for total hits or home runs? Is the U. S. Presidency, in and of itself, a bad institution simply because former President William Jefferson Clinton committed adultery while president?
It isn't the 'bad apples' that define whether something a 'tree' produces good fruit (is good or not), BUT RATHER THE GOOD ONES. How could a religion which produced Sts. Peter and Paul, Sts. James and John, St. Irenaeus, St. Athanasius, St. Jerome, St. Benedict, St. Augustine, St. John Chrysostom, St. Cyril of Jerusalem, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Hildegard of Bingen, St. Catherine of Sienna, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Theresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, St. Katherine Drexel, Blessed Columba Marmion, St. John Paul II and St. Teresa of Calcutta (to name but a few) be a force for bad? It is ludicrous on the face of it.
