The power is out here in the Upstate of South Carolina. We haven't had power since 5:00 this morning. I pray it comes back on soon. Trees are down everywhere. God bless all of these people 🙏❤️

@@candrakane4642 That's another reason to not be dependent on one source of energy. We didn't have electric for about 2 weeks and I was lucky to have a gas stove to light the burners for steam heat. We took care of another family that had no way to heat their home.
That's the problem EVERY BODY on the coast was told to go police was going door to door and A LOT of people chose to stay. And now we have another forming in the same spot next week. Hurricanes are very scary.
I used to live in Florida. It breaks my heart to see how much damage there is and a lot of people are living there after retirement. Not easy to recover financially. God Bless them all.

It’s not smart to drive on roads that are underwater- especially those along bodies of water. The surge could have washed away the road & you won’t know until your car plunges into a gaping hole and sinks

I know a hurricane & tornado can hit anywhere. But living on the water or extremely close to it is something I’ll never understand. Especially building your homes on sand…and that’s biblical teaching! lol
I grew up in steinhatchee and went thru about 6 hurricanes. I would rather face a hurricanes than get taxed to death in new jersey, new york and california.
Thank you for sharing this. I have a buddy that lives on a boat in Steinhatchee and he wound up being tossed into some trees along with his boat. His boat is destroyed but thank the Good Lord he is alive and okay.

No. He is independent. He is a youtuber that goes around being nosey pretty much. No offense to him. Lol. He travels everywhere and shows things like this. We just had 2 shootings here in ky and he came to ky to investigate and see what was going on. To show his viewers 1st hand what the town looked like that the shootings happened in. Etc. Look at his videos. He is good. At what he does.
He was down at the border giving us IRL what is really to going on!;!! It was eye opening to say the least but u will enjoy his channel!!? His partner Magnolia runs right next to him and he won't usually answer comments but magnolia tries to!!??

The one thing I experienced during Hugo is seeing the loss of farm life. Cows n horses thrown in the trees when barns demolished by the hurricane,, the news never reports on that aspect. ....
Poor goats are scared. We have goats, they are really personable. They are diffently trying to communicate with JLR. People will just turn their animals loose to seek shelter in storms and fires,if they don’t have anyway of moving them. Prayers going out to everyone, especially to those that lost their lives, they said like 11 fatalites🙏❤️
JLR as a former media guy you did a superb job of covering this historic storm, Perry is my hometown and I live here. I just returned today after being with my mom over in Dowling Park. Even though the eye went right over Perry I think our coastal community's bore the wrath of Helene. And Perry was spared.

That's absolutely crazy how that little Bobcat cleared that massive road blockage of steel, concrete, trees and whatever was mixed in, in a matter of minutes. 😲 My Prayers to everyone affected and the hope that no one lost anyone. 🙏 🤞😢
The sad thing is that these homes that received flood damage to trailers have no value in them they can't sell them, or insurance will only cover whatever amounts you took the insurance out for most of the time its not enough to replace a new mobile home .

Yes it is,I'm am so thankful but I hurt at the same time. I'm close to the gulf in largo and had almost no damage but I can feel their pain .God bless the west coast of Florida and beyond

By the looks of things it could have been way worse. They're lucky it was moving so fast. I've been through many hurricanes where most of the trees are gone, all the leaves are gone. Many of the houses and structures are still standing..
I'm just seeing the devastation now. Last I had seen last night was the eye of the Storm then I fell asleep. The last major hurricane I went into the path post landfall. No tree had leaves, and brick homes with some slabs gone. Katrina,asphalt was blown off streets. 902 millibar low with winds at max 175. A completely different bitch. With gust to 200. Not to mention Ivan with 90 ft waves
My heart goes out to everyone affected by Helene!!! WHAT ABOUT ELLEN, the little old lady from there that refused to leave her home??? Did she make it???
Helicopters are also used to survey damage so they can clear access roadways, and begin clean up & recovery. The “water rescue” truck and the boats may have been the Cajun Navy. They always show up immediately to rescue people after hurricanes.

Why would you be chasing hurricanes and the after math in sneakers? Boots on the ground should have boots on in these situations.
In this case some water shoes would have been best.
I got bit by a poisionous snake (diamond eyes) on my toe. So I agree. Boots on the ground.
As smart as JLR is with some things others he’s not. I would want work boots with all the debris and water laying around.

I was looking at it on the maps last night. They were getting whacked with 140mph winds... not gusts. 140mph was the constant wind speed.

And Hugo came inland. We lived outside of Charlotte and they weren’t forecasting the over 90 mph winds that we had.
