      Tja voicings are mostly used as Chord fills in comping or in Chord Melody style, when the melody of the song is on the high e-string.

    Hi Sandra! Great lesson here. Rootless upper structures can be tricky, but as you noted, this part of the chord gives us melody! I enjoyed your explanations along the way, and look forward to more in the series. Great presentation, as always! I must say you are looking fit and vibrant. Good vibes👍😄.

    Fantastic lesson thanks. This helps me better understand some of the things that I've learned in your chord melody lessons and I feel like there might be a logical order to your theory and practical lessons. Do you have an outline syllabus or order in which to assemble the awesome content on your RUclips channel? It seems like there might be a magic thread linking the wisdom that I would happily pay for :). Looking forward to a companion lesson on minor chord upper voicings.

    • @GuitarversumSandraSherman
      @GuitarversumSandraSherman  4 года назад +1

      There's actually no thread or order to my YT channel 😊. Start with the chords playlist first, then comping, then chord melody or soloing.

    Hi Guitarversum
    Great lesson as always. I'm not sure on how to request songs from you, so I'll do it here for now. I'm a big fan of Earl Klugh, and wondering if could you do a tutorial on Balladina by Earl Klugh?

    Thanks so much for the beautiful lesson. By the way, is there any hidden reason why everything I play on these fills is lydian?

    • @GuitarversumSandraSherman
      @GuitarversumSandraSherman  4 года назад +1

      Maybe you just dig lydian, lol. Ionian has the 4th in it, which is the avoid note and isnt played that often anyway. So lydian is a good choice.

    So I’m kind confused. are we using just the Cmajor chord or can We do the same trick on all of the major chord like 1 4 and 5 chord?

    • @GuitarversumSandraSherman
      @GuitarversumSandraSherman  4 года назад

      Only the 1st degree and the 4th degree have major 7th chords. Ie in the key of C, you can use these fills for the C and the F chord, but not for the G chord. Bc the 5th degree would be aG7 chord (has a flattened 7th, not a major 7th!).

    As a country player I never understood why a natural 4th is an 'avoid' note. In country it is one of our best notes, especially if you bend the third up like a pedal steel. To me the #4th always sounds more like an avoid note but that is probably why no matter how long I try I will never be a jazz player
