General aviation is so great in beautiful socal. I know it can get busy in the basin but that’s the flip side of the first sentence. Congrats on your little flying paradise. Few have enjoyed such a beautiful life.
Hi you two! Great to see you back. (Sorry, and the gentleman in the rear!) Glad you missed his wake, looked pritty cool thou, not used to parallel landings in the UK!
Should have showed so much more of Palm Springs. You will all have to go back and get more footage. They have an air museum. You taxied right by it, it was on your right right after the South West maintenance hangers.
That's cool I live in Palm springs , and I love aviation , cool vlog you guys have good personalities and are interesting to watch and listen to keep it up.
The Banning Pass below 10,000' can make you really wish you were flying somewhere else. My last landing in PSP finished to screams and applause from scared passengers. Glad you had a wonderful experience!
Roy, I couldn't agree more. I watched the forecast for several days before our trip. The TV news was sensationalizing the weather by saying it was going to be really windy in the Banning pass but my FAA weather forecast on Garmin Pilot said just the opposite which turned out to be correct.
It actually looked kinda bumpy at least before cabazon. That's when I gotta look out the window and minimize my Ipad time. I think it's funny the way the engine can make you sleepy, sometimes you just have to give in and close your eyes for 15 minutes. Helps to have dad there for that, You guys are a good team. Thanks Piper, we love flying with you.
Best comment of the day. We were hoping to land ahead of Alaska, but they came in fast. The winds were pretty calm and the distance between the runways gave us the margin we needed as we landed very close to the same time.
It’s important for all of us to understand Tower’s com, because it’s intended to be very clear who has responsibility (AKA liability) for separation including wake turbulence. The Tower controller should exercise common sense and he should warn you even when not required, but that’s a lot of “shoulds.” In the final analysis, we are dealing with the government. If Captain Carl had elected to follow the heavier aircraft to the same rwy, ATC would have likely said “maintain visual separation” which means you the pilot are responsible to add room for wake turbulence avoidance. He might have said “caution wake turbulence” but to a visual arrival who is already maintaining visual separation, that would be a non-required courtesy call. If IFR, he would likely say “caution wake turbulence” as a required CYA because it’s ATC’s responsibility to provide required separation. Since you elected the parallel, and you are VMC with a tally, I would be surprised by any Tower warning, and I personally would make a point to thank him for the heads-up to let him know he did something smart IMO. Another consideration is the experience of the controller. This controller sounded pretty experienced, so he’s probably not going to implicate himself on the radio by highlighting any risks inherent to his game plan, unless required to do so. An experienced controller, like an experienced pilot, will preview a courtesy call in his mind for how it could play out if there was an accident. In this case, why did dotcom scrape a wingtip if Tower knew wake turbulence was a factor? As pilots, we want to take risk off the controllers or we won’t be flying at all soon. So we need to understand that some allowable situations carry risk they really can’t say out loud, or in-turn, they can’t allow it.
hey guys now your in one of my home airports i live out here great to see i have some friends that are part owners of the fantasy springs resort out here i love the casinos ive landed at p s airport dozens of times i wanted to let you know thers a great little airport in bermuda dunes its about 5mins from ps its quiet and little FYI THATS WHERE ALL THE CELEBS TAKE THEIR PRIVATE JETS AND ALL THE BIG NAME GOLFERS FLY IN THERE GREAT TO SEE YOU GUYS BACK ON HERE !!!! ive been off the internet since november my house burned to the ground i lost everything i own even my vehicles and boat in the driveway my harley melted from the heat i lost all my flying manuals my headsets everything i crawled out on fire but i had great insurance getting ready to rebuild and recover i really enjoyed the enjoyed the video i need these to take my mind off everything great job guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good question...wingtip vortices diverge from the aircraft that caused them at about 3 knots in a no wind situation. Crosswinds can affect their groundspeed so you need to consider that. We had enough separation plus we landed only a few seconds after the airliner. There was a safety margin in this case.
Nice to see you all again, it's been a while. Ok Piper, why didn't you fly on the way home? Looks like your dad was flying on the way there too? Love the videos!

Sure my house was somewhere visible in the overhead shots
Nice airport and nice place to live !
The windmills only turn when there is more than enough wind to produce energy. From an old local.

Do you still have the 182?
I noticed the cessna 210 Turbo Centurion. I love flying theoes on flight sim. Love the x power.
u can never have too much power !!!!
Rebecca and Kevin. Great joke. I’d love to see the entire set. I was sort of surprised the tower didn’t mention wake turbulence. N8445Z

thank you so much i really appreciate and enjoy you guys your dad is awesome and your a blessing keep the vids coming !!!!!
You should see the ramp and hangars at Jacqueline Cochran/Thermal filled to the brim with jets and cheaper fuel! :D
Nice flight, cool comedy stuff Carl.
Glad you enjoyed it Andy !
Another great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job Piper! Looked like a fun time! Would have liked seeing more of Dad's routine!! Are retractable gears kinda unusual on lite crafts?
There are quite a few light aircraft with retractable landing gear. Less popular on newer light aircraft. Thank you Joe for your comment.....Piper
Would wake turbulence really effect your aircraft when you are so far too one side of the 737? Good to see you back all

Where have you been?
Missed your flying videos.
Thanks for the video.
More to come Robert!.....Piper
Looks like a gret show.....aren't there 2 casinos Augua....I've mostly been to the one right off of the 10 fwy.
I believe they actually have three !
Heavy Iron (MD80) killed my flight review examiner. He had over 30k hrs. but got into wake turbulance at MKE. Be careful around them.
Sorry to hear about your examiner. Wake turbulence can be deadly.
Would have been cool to see the show as I live in Indio. What airport were you flying from?
KCMA
Piper, you’re my hero.😉
Ha Ha thank you Charles !.....Piper
Loved it!
LTCGuffy, thank you !
Hi Piper. I'm your first like and I knew you'd want to know. Really enjoy your videos.
Cool! 1st one is always special !.....Piper
Nice to see you all again, it's been a while. Ok Piper, why didn't you fly on the way home? Looks like your dad was flying on the way there too? Love the videos!
My dad still loves to fly !...Piper
I dont know in the US but in Canada student pilots are not allowed to pilot at night.
What software are they using on the iPad?
Garmin Pilot which will give you a free trial.
A Piper flying a Cessna, what is wrong with that?
Yes !!!
What flight software does Carl use on his ipad? The gliding distance circle was cool!
Barry, it is the Garmin Pilot. You can download a free one month trial.
That landing gear always make me nervous.
Why nervous? The dancing of the landing gear was elegant, like Foxtrot Tango.
👍☑️ Me too David, I always think of the old erector set or for younger people tinker toys looking at those toothpicks folding up on a 210 LOL
It looks odd but is actually very reliable if it is maintained properly.
Ha! They look so janky, right?
Piper did you solo yet?
No, I had to take a break for other projects but I hope to have time this summer to finish up ! Thank you Monica
@@1capcarl I enjoy your videos. I’m preparing for my check ride. Had a couple events slow the progress
wow what the beautiful girl
