    I too prefer the far more chic feel of the velvets (both bullet and packaging) and I was so happy when the liquid lipstick era was over. I trust Lisa but these will not get used, because I will always reach for the bullets. Happy for everyone who did want Lisa to make good liquid lipsticks.

      Yes, it was much requested. I don't expect I'll prefer this over the Velvets, but it's a great formula. I'm glad she has it as an option for those who love a liquid lipstick.

    Velvet Muse was my first Lisa Eldridge lipstick, and I’m really only interested in Velveteen Muse! Especially now that you said it seems deeper than the bullet lipstick. I really want her to make a cool toned nude in between the depths of Muse and Sorcery. I’m also not really a liquid lipstick person, but I love how she demo’d the lipsticks sheer since that is how I tend to wear them. Thanks for picking these up and your thoughts on them! I can always count on your Lisa Eldridge content. ❤

      Thanks so much! I love Lisa's products, and even though I'm not a liquid lipstick person, these are so good. I knew if she released anything it would be good, but I'm still a little bit surprised at how much I enjoy them. I really like Ribbon tapped in softly with a blurry edge. It's not my norm, but I love it! Thanks so much for making time to watch today.

    I bought Blush and Jazz because the Velveteen versions looked vampier than the Velvets! I am not a fan of liquid lipsticks either but naturally Lisa made an outstanding product. I appreciate the longevity, the soft focus velvet effect, and the ability to deepen the colors with layers!

      Yes, it's a lovely formula. One I will actually reach for. It's a rare liquid lipstick that I want to wear. Thanks so much for watching, and enjoy Blush and Jazz.

    thanks for sharing! i ordered jazz, only.
    ribbon looked veryyy pretty on lisa but i thought i could get jazz and either smudge it to a reddish, blotted color or wear it full on with its browny, smoky red pay off. i used charlotte tilbury's pillow talk eyeliner to line my lips for it, ha ha.
    jazz definitely bleeds, application is tricky and it takes a good amount of time. but like you said, it doesn't go anywhere other than the middle parts of lips upon eating & talking... 1-2 coats of coverage is plenty enough!
    the formula reminds me of tarteist liquid lipstick's slippery, silicone-y texture with dose of colors' thin, full on matte, waterproof longevity. not as drying as those kvd liquid lipsticks although the colors look veryyyy similar to lolita, etc...
    absolutely loved the color jazz in velveteen! i don't think i could wear jazz in the original velvet formula, a dark color has to be smudge proof for me to wear on my lips. it's so sexy and mysterious, definitely needed in my collection. looking forward to mixing it with other lipsticks to add an oomph to my existing colors...
    fawn, muse, affair... dried down colors look veryyy similar to me. they are not as different than each other as much as in the original velvet lipstick form. they may be nice colors for the fall, but not for the summer time for me. last year's collections of 'luxuriously lucent lip colours 'were much more summer appropriate imho.
    gosh, i just loooove lisa!

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  Год назад

      Yes, I love Lisa too! I'm glad that I like these Velveteens. I'm also glad I picked up the two shades that I use most in bullet form.
      I wore Ribbon yesterday just tapped in with my finger. A very light layer, and it looked amazing! It did need a layer of balm after about 3 hours because I had the barest whisper of color on. I did struggle with getting it to look even, but I just kept blending until I got what I wanted. I loved the way it looked.
      I'm not a liquid lip fan at all, and I nearly skipped this release. I'm glad that I picked up these two, but I don't think I'll trade my Velvet Lipsticks for these Velveteen Lips. They're amazing, but I'm still a bullet lipstick kinda gal. Thanks so much for watching today!

    Lovely video thank you! I have bought 3 of the velveteen schades so far and I like them all. Compared to all my other lipstick formulas, my number one favourite is still the matt bullet lipsticks from Dries Van Noten. The shade "punk vermillion" is an absolute masterpiece.

I'll pass on these because to me they are too high maintenance and I'm just not into liquid lips except I do sometimes wear the Maybelline Color Tattoo, which are less than half the price. Liquid lipstick should cost less because it doesn't last as long after you have opened it and it gets gunky and gross. I wear my bullet lipsticks for a few years but I can also wipe off the bullet.

    Thanks for trying the Velveteens! I am curious on how they compare to the Em Cosmetics Soft Spoken lip cremes? There is a lot more variety in shades in the Velveteens so I am mulling over trying the LEs.

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  Год назад +1

      The Soft Spoken Lip Cremes never dry down. (they'll transfer to any cup, utensil, person you kiss) They always stay soft and pillow-y on the lips. They're also a slightly thicker formula. You can feel them a bit more on the lips. They hydrate my lips, but it's because they don't dry down.
      This Velveteen Lip is like a traditional liquid lip that dries down and doesn't transfer. It doesn't hold up to eating particularly well, but I love how easy it is to reapply just where I need it without the formula getting weird. It doesn't get goopy or ball up with extra layers.
      I feel like the Soft Spoken Lip creams pull terracotta (orange) on me. They're lovely, but I don't get the variety in color that this formula offers. I have 3 of the "nude" shades and they all look like a slightly deeper version of themselves. Light nude terracotta, medium nude terracotta, and deep nude terracotta. I have Petal, Tender and Intuition. The only one that doesn't look terracotta on me is the bright strawberry shade in Flutter.

    Some colors are easier to wear in a bullet form. I think with Ribbon, which I consider to be a statement color, I'd want it in a budge-proof formula, which this seems to (almost) be. I think I'm sold after watching this review. Thanks so much for biting the bullet on these. Your review is much appreciated.
    I've tried liquid lipsticks in the past; they either dry down too much, or they don't dry down at all and transfer the whole time. Whenever I wanted to wear a red and didn't want it to move I'd use a lip stain from ColourPop, but those have a chemical taste so I'm not a fan of them. I almost went for the Charlotte Tilbury lip blur in Ruby, but this one came out just in time to change my mind.

    • @thelipstickgal
      @thelipstickgal  Год назад

      I haven't tried the CT lip blurs. I used to have one of her liquid lipsticks from years ago and never enjoyed the formula. It was drying and uncomfortable. Maybe it's time to see what the lip blurs are like. 🤷‍♀️
      I've been wearing ribbon every day since it arrived. I've never been able to wear a liquid lipstick multiple days in a row because my lips always dried out. Not with this formula. It doesn't nourish my lips, but rather maintains them in their original state. If I start with perfectly hydrated lips, they'll still be comfortable and hydrated when I finally take the formula off.

      I'm really impressed with this formula. Today's the third day in a row I've worn ribbon, and my lips aren't freaking out. I can't wear any other liquid lip that dries down three days in a row. I'm super impressed. I do spend the night in a heavy layer of sleeping mask, and I always put on a balm straight out of the shower. My lips are never bare. I think it helps.

    I have been on the hunt for the perfect transfer-proof lip for years. I really, really, really don't like it when my lip color transfers to my glass. With all my experimentation, I am currently using Maybelline Vinyl Lip Ink. It is transferproof and lasts through drinking or light snacks, but I lose most of it if I eat a meal. And doing a "touch up" with that formula isn't the best. So. Now I need to decide whether or not to fork out the money for the Lisa Eldridge. Thank you for your review. It was helpful.
    BTW, that red color looks good on you!

    • @thelipstickgal

      Lisa's red in Ribbon is my all time favorite red shade! It's so good. These to transfer a bit, and break down when eating. They're easy to reapply. I've tried the Maybelline Vinyl Ink, but I always get it stuck to my teeth or gums. When it's a bright red, it's so obvious! I've been struggling to find a hydrating formula that doesn't transfer. I'd avoid the Dior Transfer proof, they're amazingly drying and build up on the inside rim of your lip.

    I am not a liquid lipstick person - EXCEPT the Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue. By far my favorite long wearing formula. I love the range of shades, the wear time, the fact that they don’t dry out my lips (thanks, in part, to the glossy end).
    I almost purchased Rain, because it’s the only color that I thought might get a decent amount of wear by me (I have the bullet & love it), but wanted to hear more reviews, first. So, thank you! I probably have a dozen or more shades of Lisa’s bullet lipsticks & a 5 or 6 glosses, and I feel like many of the lipsticks pull quite different on me than what I see in her swatches & IG videos. I have that issue with plenty of shades, but I’ve learned to hold off on her shades until I see lots of swatches & reviews…..unless I just can’t help myself with a particular shade. 😆

    Hello! Thank you so much for this video! I got Velveteen Rain for myself and I think as a fellow super fair brunette, you would love it too - it is like a warm rose, pulling almost red, and is quite enlivening! I am now debating whether to get the Ribbon shade in the Velvet or in the Velveteen formulation... I'm sensing the Velveteen tends to get darker as you build it up - that is definitely the case with Rain... Has that been your experience and would you say that Velveteen Ribbon pulls a little darker than Velvet Ribbon as a result? Thank you so much for your wealth of videos, I have been watching so many of them lately. They are an absolute treat! Have a lovely weekend!

      Thanks so much for watching today. Yes, Velveteen Ribbon is much darker once you get complete coverage. I find that I have to build it with two layers. Whereas Velvet Ribbon is perfect on the first swipe. I will always prefer a bullet lipstick as I mentioned in this video, but I really appreciate Lisa's liquid formula. It's lovely.
      Velvet Rain is one of my favorite lippies in the Velvet formula from Lisa, I'm sure I'd love Rain in the Velveteen.
      One thing I'll mention is that there have been several people who experience the Velvet lipsticks breaking off at the base. I've only had that happen to one of my lipsticks, and it was after several years. To me, it was more my wear and tear on it, and not the formulation. I'm pretty gentle with my lipsticks, but there have been complaints of lipsticks in the velvet formula breaking. Keep that in mind if you're someone who applies with a bit of force. Thanks again for watching, and have a lovely weekend.

(and I get lazy) In daily life, I'm forever mixing shades.

      @@thelipstickgal sounds like I need to give this a try 😂 Another shade I struggle to use is CT Pillow Talk, it turns warm… only have the minis so it wasn’t a big loss and I thought the formula was a little dry.

    I have resisted ordering, but was tempted by Muse. I was hoping more for a mauve though.

    I have Fawn, Muse, and Rain. I have sensitive dry lips, and these are uncomfortable on me. I was mis-lead into thinking that these are moisturizing. These are just the usual liquid lip formula. The colors are beautiful, and the application is smooth and easy. I, unfortunately, can't wear them comfortably though.

      I'm so sorry. The older I get, the more persnickety my lips get. I found that this formula isn't really moisturizing, but keeps my lips in the state they were in before applying this product. If my lips start out perfectly hydrated, they're comfortable and look good by the end of the day. If I apply this over dry lips, my lips are still dry at the end of the day. That's been my experience; I know we're all different.
      I found that this formula doesn't suck the life out of my lips the same way the liquid lipsticks from KVD, Dose of Colors, Anastasia Beverly Hills, ColourPop and other brands used to. Those brands are the reason that I never fell in low with liquid lipstick. (and that was years ago, and my lips were not as dry as they are now)
      Have you tried adding a hydrating balm over the top? I did that when I wore Ribbon as a light, fluffy layer tapped in. I added the Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm over the top, and it kept my lips hydrated and the color didn't go everywhere.

      @@thelipstickgal I've decided that I will wear them as a stain with balm over them. At least these won't melt in my purse during this hot humid summer in N FL. I especially like the Fawn and Rain colors. These don't show lines in my lips, so a definite plus there.

    For me it didnt feel long lastig at all, I had to to reapply within the hour and even less if I ate. Not sure if I'm doing it wrong but i tried applying it on dry lips waiting for it to dry...it still dissappears within the hour! For me the velvets last linger on my lips so i will stick to the velvets

      I'm sorry this formula didn't work for you. I've been enjoying it while knowing I'll need to touch it up if I eat anything. It has been great for days when I'm busy running errands, and don't have time to snack. My lips look perfect. Thanks for watching.

      It's from Gabi Rielle. It's not expensive as far as jewelry goes, but it's a fun piece. It reminds me of the saying "May the bridges I burn light my way." I wear it to remind myself to let go of things/relationships that hold me back or weigh me down.

    I was waiting for this review! I am contemplating getting Jazz. I had this cheapo Karity liquid lip in Tick Tick Boom that was the best color on me, but the formula suuuuuuucked. Drying, all the issues. But this I could do! 🎉

      I really like this formula. It keeps my lips in whatever state they were in when first applied. If my lips were hydrated when applied, they were still in good condition at the end of the day. If they were dry and flaking, they stayed that way throughout the day. I wouldn't say this is hydrating the same way the Luxuriously Lucent Lipsticks are, but they're a great formula. They don't dry my lips out at all. (As long as I start it with moisturized lips)
