This movie turned up the Muppets to an 11! Some serious money in the songs and puppetry in this one and it was so much fun! Miss Piggy especially was incredible in this and the meta jokes just kept coming! Anyways, on to Manhattan for the next one!
Thanks for watching! Have a great day! :)

Growing up in the Sesame Street, generation X era, we loved The Muppet Show and of course, the movies. Omg, everyone from children, teens, adults to grandparents loved them. The simplistic humor didn't just appeal to kids, but also threw in safe humor to get chuckles out of adults. The late Henson knew humanity and the art and the necessity of humor in life. He's sorely missed.

  • @SeigiChoujin

Jim Henson DID have a cameo as one of the diners that Gonzo photographed, but it's not technically his only onscreen performance in the film. He... well ALL of the Muppet performers don't simply voice their characters, they're doing the puppetry as well. They're just below the camera, crouched in uncomfortable positions, bringing the Muppets too life, voice and all.

    "You are all WEIRDOS."
Fun Fact: During the opening credits, Fozzie (Frank Oz) asks Kermit (Jim Henson) what "B.S.C." (British Society of Cinematographers) stands for, but Kermit doesn't know.
RIP Christine Nelson Fact: The girl in the park who thinks Kermit is a bear, is Christine Nelson. The daughter of Muppeteer Jerry Nelson (who also appears in the scene), Christine had cystic fibrosis and died in 1982.
Great Bicycle Scene Fact: The bike riding sequence was accomplished by using a combination of radio-controlled bikes, marionette rigging, and in some cases, attaching several bikes together with rods so they could stand upright on their own. The end of the bicycle scene (where all of The Muppets are shown riding together) was done by putting all of the Muppet characters onto their bikes, hooking them together, and pulling them. Brian Henson, on an oversized tricycle, was amongst those who pulled the bikes.
Great Underwater Scene Fact: Miss Piggy's underwater musical number was the most difficult scene to shoot, mostly because of communication problems. Lighting, cameramen, cameras, speakers, and monitors were all underwater. Eighteen professional swimmers had to dive into the pool at the same moment. In the June 1981 issue of the children's magazine Dynamic, Frank Oz noted: "The water ballet scene with Miss Piggy was really wonderful. I was under the water for a week. I had three days of scuba training and then down I went. Having them swim for the first time really was exciting!"

Not only is that John Cleese, but the woman having dinner with him is Joan Sanderson who played one of the most infamous guests at Fawlty Towers (a beloved John Cleese series.) She played Mrs. Richards, a thoroughly aggravating woman who would never have her hearing aid turned on (because it runs the batteries down.)

The gag with the guy guessing what's wrong with Kermit is that's Peter Falk doing Colombo, his most famous role. I agree, The Rainbow Connection beats any other song to come out from any Muppet production but this has to be my favorite Muppet film. Part of it has to do with the inclusion of Lady Holiday played by the amazing Diana Rigg... who, if you didn't recognize, was in the Bond film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, as Countess Teresa "Tracy" Di Vicenzo. Her work is extensive and I just love her!

While not a big name outside of the UK, she played opposite Cleese in an episode of Fawlty Towers, and was absolutely, brilliantly hilarious. I used to watch The Muppet Show (1976-81) with my grandma every Sunday night. Kermit & friends put on a variety show every week at the Muppet theatre. It’s definitely worth watching. The old men would heckle from the their box but always came back for more. Gonzo did his bizarre performance art such eating a car tire accompanied by classical music. According to Frank
Oz, in one of the early scripts Miss Piggy was originally supposed to slap
Kermit on the face. In the end she karate chopped him, which was funnier.

I was born in 78 so these 3 movies were a big part of my childhood. I actually had a cute little childhood crush on Kermit's personality and hoped to grow up and find a man like him. It wasn't til I was older and watched the 1953 movie, Lili that I realized it was Jim Henson I was crushing on since Kermit is his alter ego. I recommend that 1953 movie, Lili. It's not well known, but you seem the type to see things in movies, like what the story is trying to tell. It has Leslie Caron in it who was famous for Gigi and American in Paris.

I am so happy you did this reaction, the muppets are good for the soul! Please, one thought. Out of respect, at least Google Jim Henson and look at his picture. Show honor to these giants of the industry that you are building your channel on and watching their craft. Know or learn who these people are. If you show them that respect, it will benefit your content even more. Seeing Sesame Street characters has made me appreciate growing up with PBS. We need Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Mr Rogers today more than ever. An older generation grew up being shown how to respect others and enjoy learning in general with Mr Rogers as a mentor. Rather than a newer generation who grew up laughing at others and having SpongeBob as their mentor. You have no idea how much those kinds of mentors are needed today.

Please understand my request was sincere. Hard to put tone into typed words, but I sent with the meaning of a sincere plea not coming down on anyone or being angry. I know reaction channels try to go in with little knowledge of the movie itself. But just for an example, he reacted to Hitchcock movies previously. You can research the director without getting movie spoilers so that when he makes his appearances he recognized him. I was trying to recommend the same for future directors such as Henson. The rest was just me missing an older generation of influence that these movies make very obvious. Nothing against this channel. I enjoy these reactions, especially because there are more classics involved.
