If you have an HDMI input in the van, the HDMI input plays into the VES screen and you can plug-in a Roku device to watch live TV and streaming. I did that with my Town & Country with a hotspot for Internet and it works great.
Thank you you did a great job on the video. So a little advice you can also hook a Roku player to the hdmi and use your phone as a hot spot to provide internet to the roku. This would give your kids a remote to work the apps listed on the roku. Also allow you to use your phone for anything you want like gps or phone calls text. You Can also plug in your phone to charge it. How this works is it uses the phones data, the phone is the hotspot or internet signal that the roku connects to allowing internet access so the roku can stream. Providing your cellphone has both service in that area and hotspot service on your plan. You can do the same thing for other devices like Xbox or PlayStation you wish to connect to your Pacifica. Hope this helps and thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video, I hope Chrysler is watching this to see how ridiculous this is that you have to rig a bunch of stuff up to watch a RUclips or Netflix video. It has all of this functionality including it's own Wifi hotspot, but no easy way to watch what pretty much everyone would want to use it for.
Hi. I opened the link. Purchased the part. Followed step by step. But! It was not opening any RUclips videos. Do you know how I can if possible. Thanks.
I only have the one screen in the roof in the back. I’m going to try this. It’s very difficult to use the remote for the DVD’s while sitting in the front so using my iPhone might be the better option
I have the same system and I installed a Roku stick in the HDMI input and used the USB unit to power it. The only caveat is only one port activates if both are plugged it but if you just unplug the USB and plug it back in after the player is turned on it will work. I'm also way to stingy to let my kids stream on my data connection so instead of connecting to a hotspot on our phones I install a tiny computer called Raspberry Pi that runs off one of the USB chargers. On that little computer I install Plex media server and load it with movies and videos. Configure the Pi to broadcast a wifi access point and Roku stick to connect to that network. There's some trickery involved to get Roku to work with a wifi network with no internet but with the right skills and patience it can happen. Now my kids can use an easier user interface they are used to.
Of course you can I am doing it right now. Just go to rear screen and choose streaming. Make sure Vehicle WiFi is on. Then just use Miracast or another mirroring app from your phone and turn that on. When the phone asks choose Pacifica Wireless HX , then allow the connection. We can cast one phone(or a computer or whatever) to both screens in the back or one screen or cast two separate things(using two phones etc) to each of the back screens. NO CABLES needed. I have a 2018 Pacifica with all the bells and whistles, dual screens in the rear and streaming is built right into my Uconnect system.
@@OverKillCNC It seems this doesn't work for many android phones. For example, Miracast is not supported on my Google Pixel or on an older Samsung phone that I tried using. I received an error that Miracast was not supported when attempting this. What type of Samsung phone do you have?
Good thing they saw this issue now on the latest Chrysler Pacifica. They have fired TV built-in to see back entertainment so you have nothing to worry about anymore.
So I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong. I’ve followed the steps but mine doesn’t work. My headphone jack also doesn’t work in my Pacifica??? Brand new car...faulty??
While it’s playing could u use other apps like the map to get somewhere or do U always need to be on that screen for it to be playing for the kids etc? Get what I’m saying?! Lol
I've used free software to convert DVDs or Blu-rays to digital files so I can put them on a micro USB and watch them in the van. You can get a pretty large USB for pretty cheap. This makes this so much easier!
thanks for this video. it's ridiculous how convoluted it is to get movies playing. i swear i had it figured out last summer and the kids even watched a movie on a long vacation road trip...but tried the same thing this year and the playback would consistently stop. gotta take the kids to pick up mommy from the airport at rush hour today so i'm hoping this will work
I know this video is a little older but I just got a '21 PacHY with the theater system and I agree! They should've added an HDMI to the front as well because my kids would kick at the cables on the back of the seats and break them off :(
I see that you had trouble getting the source switched while you were recording. I have the same trouble. Can you show what you did to get that fixed?

this is such a great idea!! i need to find a roku that has usb power. soooo great!!!! thank you!!
@@Sengerson Awesome video. Thanks. I didnt know the Pacifica did that. How has your Pacifica been in terms of reliability?
@@Sengerson pudieron hacer funcionar esa idea? Tengo la misma duda
What kind of phone do you have there? I followed your steps for some reasons it doesnt display anything on the back screens
How do you get the sound to work in the car? Also any suggestions for heads phones?

Does anyone know if this will work with the Roku Tv HDMI plug?

How do you connect the headphones
can you just plug a fire stick into the HDMI port and use your phones hotspot for wifi to the fire stick?
I just bought a Roku express stick, unfortunately, that didn't work with my wifi hotspot too well :(
yes
I'm certain u can mirrorshare to all screens through the uconnect theater tab, but I have an Android, iPhone may not be compatible
Thank you. If you have Samsung or Android Mobile phones you can just stream the screen from your phone to the screen without any cables.
How?
Howwww
Negative. You can not do that.

Oh wow your screens work. Mine don’t, the dealership said to wait for an update,
Wow I had no idea you could also watch a movie from the front screen. Thanks so much!!
The front screen will only play movies if the car is not in motion due to safety! 😊
It plays on all screen, front and the 2 back screen.
Can you stream a movie from the back screens and play music from Bluetooth at the same time?

I think it's 720p and .MP4. I use handbrake to convert to the 720p format
