    In this video, I show you how to make silver solder using your scrap sterling silver and brass. This is a great alternative to purchasing it from other companies, and a great use for you scrap bits from jewelry making.

    This is incredibly helpful, thank you!
    I can't wait to file the ingot of solder into tiny flakes, and it'll be so easy to stamp the hardness or flow temp into the bottom to keep everything tidy!

    Thank you so much for this. Really like the idea of just making my own solder. Makes the craft feel more real in a way. Thanks for making the video and explain so well! Really inspiring and helpful :)

    Good thing i have plenty of both sterling and brass. There have been times when i ran out of solder and stopped the project in it's tracks.
    Next medium solder?

    Thank you. I'd love to know the amounts to make medium and soft solder.

      You basically just increase the amount of brass to make it "softer".

    Hello my dear brother, I want to know if you have 10 grams of silver, how much copper do you add to the silver and how much does it weigh until it becomes 925 karat?

    • @viciouscircledesigns
      @viciouscircledesigns  Год назад +3

      .81g of copper would make it .925 Sterling. Divide whatever amount of .999 silver you have by by .925. (x/.925)

    Just out of curiosity you said sterling silver was fine silver I understand that sterling silver is exactly the same as 925 so do you use 999 fine silver or sterling silver or are they the same thing

    So how to separate copper from gold, melt it is possible? Thank you sir

    • @viciouscircledesigns
      @viciouscircledesigns  2 месяца назад

      @@my1234tien This takes some chemistry that I have never done. You can look up gold refining on RUclips and probably find some good info.

      @@viciouscircledesigns refine by chemical ( acid nitric ) , can not melt ?

    • @viciouscircledesigns
      @viciouscircledesigns  2 месяца назад +1

      @@my1234tien You can melt it for sure. But it won't separate the metals in the alloy.

    Can I use just silver?

    • @viciouscircledesigns
      @viciouscircledesigns  11 месяцев назад

      You can use .999 silver to make the solder, but you will need to add some copper in the mix to make it .925, then add the brass. However, if you are making your jewelry pieces out of fine silver, you won't really want to use this solder.
