I saw the performance of Cats in Hawaii around 30 years ago and it was the first time I ever burst into tears, simply by the sound of someone's voice. This was the song and it still moves me to tears all these years later. What a magnificent performance. The costumes are amazing and vocals breathtaking!
The original author left out grizabella's poem for being too sad for children. I wonder if he ever imagined how many grown adults would bawl their eyes out listening to her story 😭.
I agree. The music? Catchy. The costumes? Amazing, if a bit too form fitting for my liking. The choreography? A bit too suggestive at times. The overall story? Nonexistent. While there are things to enjoy about it, this is overall the most boring musical ever.
