Greetings from the Idaho panhandle in the U.S. Brian! I am (almost) 52 yrs old, and a lifetime car guy. I absolutely believe in saving the manuals, and have a serious question for you relating to your well qualified opinions. I currently drive a 2023 MX-5 Club M/T (and obviously love it), but am very intrigued by the Elantra N M/T for the bang-for-the-buck factor. I believe the MX-5 has one of the best manual transmissions currently sold, but wonder what your opinion on these 2 cars head-to-head in a state that does see the white stuff this time of year? I don’t do track days or auto cross, so it’s more of a vehicle for backroads and around town spirited driving. Thank you for sharing your experiences and opinions on your channel with us!

A couple of weeks into my 2025 Abyss Black Elantra N 6MT and I can't put into words how much I am loving this car. Still stepping lightly during the break in period but I have felt enough to know that a serious love affair is developing with every mile we share together.
I came out of a 2019 White Jetta GLI that save for a few annoyances, I loved as well.
The thing is, the EN can be the comfortable yet sporty and fun daily driver the GLI was, yet at the press of a button or two the thing transfers into a razor-sharp track weapon that the GLI could only dream of (mine was an Autobahn trim 6MT that did not have the adaptive suspension so I can't speak to the effectiveness of that system). It also sounds like a proper race car, yet is still not totally obnoxious driven in that configuration, and doesn't in any way beat you up on rougher back roads.
The fun factor, communication, and feedback this chassis provides on a spirited drive is sublime!
This is one amazing machine that cannot be matched for the price in my opinion! BUY BUY BUY!!! We got to keep cars like this alive as long as we can folks! The end is near I'm afraid.

This car really is a sleeper. Most people don't realize what it is. I have mine tuned and making about 320 whp. Guys get weird about it when they get passed or hear the exhaust. They turn it into a pissing match and act offended that threy got passed by a 4 door Hyundai sedan. If you want a fwd performance car or just want something new and spicey under 40 k, this is a grreat car. I love mine, and it has been a lot of fun to own it. Extremely happy with the EN, although I know I would have said the same with the FL5. One huge fact that goes unnoticed, the EN is equipped with a semi-closed deck. Such as, when cornering the steering weight build up; controlled rotation, you manipulate the suspension through trail braking, percentage of throttle and occasional lift off. Another sleeper color that surprised me(I had to see it live) is their red. It's a darker red and the red striping at the bottom of every other Elantra N is gray(obviously red against red doesn't work) and the grey striping is more subtle and doesn't grab the eyes like the red striping does. I did buy a 2024 red Elantra N with DCT(Thank goodness I can stand the new front styling). I traded a 2021 VW GLI S with DCT and the Elantra is quicker, more solid and handles noticeably better.

I’ve had such a good time driving the EN and KN (luckily we have both my wife drives the kn most of the time) anyways I can’t bring myself to doubling my car payment for a car that I know isn’t going to bring twice the fun. Nothing else in the price range offers a dct as good as the one in the N. Blast to drive , amazing seats.. cool interior and the head unit doesn’t lag or cause problems. Just wish I could tune it to get around 350-400hp and maybe upgrade the wheels then it would be almost perfect- I really wanted to get a fl5 also but man it sounds like a lawnmower..

In what parallel universe does a car with a spoiler, loud exhaust, bright orange aero trim and brake calipers constitute a ‘sleeper’?

Perhaps you didn’t get to that part of the episode.

Fair, although having to modify it (removing/repainting trim) to qualify is still a bit of a stretch :)
      Appreciate the review though.

That's why I bought the red one. It doesn't stick out so much and look a little sleeker IMO. The accents are silver instead of red like all the other colors. I thought it was the most sleeper of the color options.

Honestly it's a good deal, but maybe Hyundai should of picked a different flagship color for their Ns. The red and dark blue look better.
Honda has more advanced FWD setup, but even at MSRP it's hard to justify spending that much on a fwd car.

I donno how anyone can stand to look at this thing. I think id rather be seen driving a pt cruiser. I dont care how cheap it is. I definitely wouldnt turn around to look at it after i got out.

Why this car is so ugly? An Elantra GTN would have been way better.
