Belted Galloway thank you for doing such a great video! I'm an older woman who bought a refurbished dr power trimmer and a beaver blade; I've had it a year and I am intimidated by it right now and I want to work on getting over that. Higher Ground Farm, thank you for asking about the brake kit, I was wondering that same thing to.

I have a 2022 DR Premier Walk Behind Mower/Trimmer. The Beaver Blade Safety & Operating Instructions do not really apply. I received a 1-3/4” tall Hardened Mounting bolt and a tall 2 or 3 inch spacer. When I took the Mow-Ball off, the Line Plates didn’t immediately come off. They were stuck. I took a flat screwdriver and inserted it between the first two plates very carefully. Then they all came off. I also had to remove the Anti-Wrap Canister. There was a lot of dead grass in the Mow-Ball, in the Anti-Wrap Canister and under the Line Plates. The Hardened Mounting Bolt sits in a hollow within the Mow-Ball. It was hard keeping it within the Mow-Ball while tightening. Well, I’m going to give it a try.

Thanks for reaching out! It is amazing how much grass can get jammed up in areas like that. I hope it works good. Watch out for the rocks.

Belted Galloway, thank you for making this clear and friendly instructional. It was not too slow for me. Any advice as to repairing the chain, which was detached and severed when I purchased used? Many thanks.

    • @BeltedGallowayHomestead
      @BeltedGallowayHomestead  Год назад +1

Thank you for the comment! I have not had to do this, but I believe that the chain is a chainsaw chain. I would go to a chainsaw shop that makes chainsaw chains to length. That way they can match up the size that is on the beaver blade or repair the current one. Looks like the connecting links are called "Preset Tie Strap" on Amazon. Great question. Thanks for reaching out.

How do u think the beaver blade would do on bamboo. I have a 1/2 acre jungle I need to cut. A little at a time of course

    • @BeltedGallowayHomestead

Thanks for reaching out! I would think it would work. A chainsaw can be used to cut bamboo and this is similar. Don't hit any rocks. Thanks for the question. Please let me know how it goes.

Really appreciate you doing this video as well as all your videos!
What I had thought about doing. Is actually making an adaptor setup to actually install a 20 inch chain saw. Gives more reach. As I need that to get under my muscadine vines. Would you be interested in collaborating on a project like this? Say I could pay for it. And you could build it. You get a really good video to upload. If we perfect it. We could also market it. I do believe there is a market. For such a product. Think it over. And let me know.

Interesting! There is a walk-behind sickle mower out there called a Jari. I actually own one.
      ruclips.net/video/HNkHHYr3D5M/видео.html
Does your idea have the blade oriented like this sickle or would it stick straight out?

I believe I have an old Gravely attachment like this from father.
It would be best to be able to lock in various positions.
Envision blade going straight out and horizontal. But also being able to put it invarious positions like 45 or 90 degrees. It would be a cool project. To make and I really think it would be better than the DR Beaver blade.

I see it about 10 inches down blade. Have a bolt going through chain bar. Would be the dome thing on bottom at that point. Top of bolt would allow arcing and changing of postion of the bar angle. And locking it in place. With a metal top.

@@BeltedGallowayHomestead Thank you ! I just noticed that there is a DR Trimmer dealer near my new farm.....so I will definitely look into this. I had already bought the craftsman walk-behind but I hope to see if there's a fitting and blade. There are two different places to purchase. That would be eBay and drpower.com. Please note that drpower.com doesn't sell the larger diameter anymore, but you can purchase the 12-inch diameter. eBay occasionally has the larger diameter, but I don't see any currently. Here are some links for reference. I hope this answers your question.

I see in the DR site this video that shows the brake kit and was wondering if this is still needed for the trimmer. Keep up the good work! Curt ruclips.net/video/PeJS7Cela60/видео.html
