Hi. I would love to hear about your personal experience. How was your Uvita experience. Any recommendations or suggestions? How were rental prices for that period? Thank you in advance. Cheers
Thank you for the tour. My oldest son goes often to Costa Rica to surf and is considering buying a small lot with a friend close to the beach in Uvitas
I am so obsessed and in love with Costa Rica and this area specifically after visiting for the first time a couple of months ago. We went to Manuel Antonio after and I think Uvita spoiled us and kinda ruined it in a way. Not to say MA isn't objectively beautiful too. But like you said, the area is just something special. And Marino Ballena was one of the most breathtaking places I've ever seen. No words.
Another great presentation. Well I guess I don't need to come visit your little town now. You just showed it all to me. The video sure gives people what it's like around that area. Also, a great presentation for any of your love ones and family who wonder what you are doing and wonder where you are at. Keep up the good work.
Fantastico lugar ...visite la feria que se hace todos viernes a dónde pude encontrar maravillosas artesanías mexicanas hechas por una mexicana encantadora ... me encantó disfrutar de su playa y esos lindos mmentos
Great tour! We drove down most of those roads probably 5 months before your video. Purchasing materials for building our metal trash container was quite an interesting experience. Ha ha. Very labor intense but fun. Took no less than 7 people to buy some wire grating, bolts, steel posts, etc. Security at the hardware store was intense. Suprisingly credit cards from the US were no problem at all. Money talks anywhere, I guess.
When I was there in September one month before you recorded the video, I stayed in Tucan hostel and Canto de las Ballenas hotel. Both pretty amazing, if you stay over, go to night parties in Flutterby, their trivials are amazing!! Pura vida
I'm actually working on a daily life video! But a weekday, consists of me trying to have coffee before my child wakes up, getting her ready and taking her to school, sometimes going to the beach from there for a bit to jump in the ocean, then going home to work on my computer, run errands if necessary, do something fun or rest if there is time, then pick child up again and hang at home or go to sunset if its sunny! It definitely varies day to day for sure!! Its a mix of work time, mom time, me time, play time, and taking care of human responsibilities such as laundry etc time 😂
We are going in July for a whale tour and are hoping to stay at a beautiful place called Vista Celestial, but may be in 2022 since we already booked in Quepos for this trip. I'm glad I saw your video, I feel like is good for only a 3 day stay not a week like we were planning. Doesn't seem like there is much to do.
I kind of see why Maui or any other Hawaiian island is so expensive to live in. It makes sense. The roads in Hawaii are paved, bushes are trimmed. The infrastructure is amazing. Costs Rica lacks all of this and thus, the most economical place to live. Makes sense.
Oh yeah ..the people in Costa Rica are warm and welcoming vs the people in Hawaii can be hostile and rude. My search will continue to find a place to retire to. I have 8 years to do this.
My wife and I enjoy your videos. We were near there a couple of years ago. We are rethinking about looking for a retirement home. Loved the area. The heat was difficult for us. Did you have to “get use to the heat”?
I just saw this comment!! We can chat more about this but there are actually great areas just tucked minutes up mountain roads that are much cooler! Great options for someone who wants to he near the beach but also feel more comfortable while at home!
Great tour! It looks amazing and I would like to see a video on Ojochal drive through ? How far is it from you? The area and out lying areas to see what its like. I have heard there are some beautiful places to live over there a little away from the beach?
Great video, thanks so much for the info as I'm thinking of moving there, or there abouts. So the Whale's Tail beach you have to pay an entrance fee to as it is in the National Park, but how about Uvita beach where you ended up? Do you have to pay? Thanks a lot.
You would be better off to likely just purchase. I checked the price of a weekly rental for a client and it was $400!! You could buy a nice moto for $1,000 or less! But of course, if you will just be here on a visit then perhaps you don't want the hassle of owning one as selling it would be a pain. I know we have a call coming up, so I will just assume this is in relating to an actual move. If that's the case, then I would say buy over rent.
Hey there, love the Tour. I am actually planning on staying in uvita to shoot videos for my company. I'm traveling with expensive camera gear so I would like to know if you consider the area safe or to dangerous for traveling with camera gear. 😅
Hello! Thank you for your question. I would say with any area that you visit - do not leave your stuff unattended and do not leave expensive things in your vehicle. Costa Rica is considered a very safe place but petty theft/crime is not uncommon. Hoping you have a lovely trip!
I went from dominical to the national park there and they would only take credit card to enter, I offered cash but they wouldn't take it, they let me in for 5 minutes to have a quick look , it was nice, but disappointed they wouldn't take cash
Hello Douglass , Thank you for your input. I hope your comment can be helpful for someone else traveling and wishing to visit the national park in Uvita. As well I am sorry to hear about your experience.
I really want to move to somewhere warm and tropic when i'm older, maybe start a little café or smoothie shop, costa rica looks super cool, but the towns all seem soooo small, like, maybe 100 people living there and just nothing going on there, no shops or anything modern :( are there any places that are more developed in costa rica?
I think this one is one of the more developed beach towns. I think Jaco is the most developed. Everywhere just looks completely natural and jungle and basic. It reminds me of India and Sri Lanka - but it's actually way less developed than even those towns.
No chance. They don't have the infrastructure. It would be a 4G tower. But the power density there isn't like you get in Canada.... I've heard the 4G/ internet is shocking in CR. Plus, the inverse square law is your friend... every 1 metre you go away from the source the power reduces dramatically. So just stay away from it.
Hi Sarah! We are looking to rent then move to CR. Our son is 7 so he will also go to a school and we’re able to work from home. We want to be within walking distance from the market/ shops. Yoga classes would be nice. What places would you recommend ? Thank you
Thank you for this video, i am taking the wife and kids over to Uvita in March, watching this helps me reassure the wife about the safety of the place :) how well can you get around if you only speak French and English? anyway, you have really helped us.
I'm so glad it was helpful!! You can get around fine on English. But it helps for sure to learn some phrases in Spanish and practice! I hope you guys have a wonderful trip!
The steering wheel is on the left! Perhaps since the video was on selfie mode, it just looks reversed. I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Let me know if you ever have any questions :)
Thank you for the great video! I will be there in late February. Do you get good waves around Uvita or is it better to go to Dominical for surf? Thanks again for the insight!
The original (and still official) name for the beach in front of the Flutterby House (and now several other lodgings) *is* actually Playa Uvita. Playa Chamán is the beach at the end of the *last* main public road from the highway to the beach (where the Nido Del Halcón and other hotels and such are located, with a National Park entrance gate at the end). Playa Chamán extends from there all the way to the southern end of the sand beach ending at a rocky point. Playa Chamán was named that by locals, after a popular restaurant and camping area that operated in that spot for several years (you were right about the beach being named after a no-longer-existing business :-) ). Back when El Chamán was still operating, there was a sign with that name on the highway at the intersection with that last main road. In the past 5 years or so, the newer expats 'extended' the area covered by the traditional Playa Chamán name farther north to cover the area in front of the Flutterby House as well. But Playa Uvita is still the official name of the beach all the way to the Whale Tail formation, as seen on most maps.

Thank you for sharing the Beautiful country of Costa Rica. I really like the way you show the roads and beach.
I will be in Uvita from January till March. I can't wait.

Thank you thank you! Haha, well there sure is a lot more to see than what you can see in the video! These tiny towns are always filled with surprises.
Trust me, you do need to go :)! Went a couple of months ago and I miss it every single day.

You're very welcome and well wishes for your move!
I am thinking seriously moving to uvita after covid, such a beautiful place , Was there 8 years ago i ve already the Costa Rica residence
Yes, Uvita is so lovely! Very family friend and great nature.
You have a refreshing way of presenting Costa Rica.
When I was there in September one month before you recorded the video, I stayed in Tucan hostel and Canto de las Ballenas hotel. Both pretty amazing, if you stay over, go to night parties in Flutterby, their trivials are amazing!! Pura vida
I used to live very close to canto de ballenas. Such an adorable hotel!!!
Nice video and driving tour. The beaches in Uvita are amazing, just a real piece of paradise
It really is! Thanks for watching! :)
Love the tours! Thank you! What’s a normal day like for you there?

Yes, I find the attitude of the people really MAKE the place, regardless of it's beauty.

Hello James , You are most welcome! I am glad you enjoyed. Your closest free beach is going to be playa Hermosa between Uvita and Dominical.

Sarah, your daughter is adorable! Question, I do not see a lot of motorcycles; are they available to rent / buy?

Coming to Uvita for one week. Staying at the Tucan. Any tips for getting around without a car?
Thank you so much!!!how bad is to explore Uvita if you don’t drive ?thank so much for your help
Great video. Thank you. Is there a riptide at that beach?
I went from dominical to the national park there and they would only take credit card to enter, I offered cash but they wouldn't take it, they let me in for 5 minutes to have a quick look , it was nice, but disappointed they wouldn't take cash

Yes I would also say Jaco or Tamarindo if you're looking for more developed towns. Those would be your two options.
Very informative. Thx!!
Hi 👋🏻 there from Canada. I happened to see a big tower when you were driving... Was that a 5G tower???
No chance. They don't have the infrastructure. It would be a 4G tower. But the power density there isn't like you get in Canada.... I've heard the 4G/ internet is shocking in CR.

The party is happening this month how busy does it get there
Are there crocodiles in the waters at the beach at the whales tale?
Do you still live in Uvita. My friend lives there and she likes it there.

Nice,Is Uvita safe and how much to rent a small tico house or apartment??
It depends on the season, but we have found options for $500, lower or higher.
Nice,thank you 👍
Nice video, keep it up. Am i seeing things or is your steering wheel on the right side?
The steering wheel is on the left! Perhaps since the video was on selfie mode, it just looks reversed. I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Let me know if you ever have any questions :)
Thank you for the great video! I will be there in late February. Do you get good waves around Uvita or is it better to go to Dominical for surf? Thanks again for the insight!
If you're experienced then doninical may be more fun. But I do see surfers out in uvita as well during high tide!
Gracias por la información, pronto iré con mi familia a conocer la "cola de ballena", pura vida.!!!
