- Lake of the Ozarks was fishing tough during the Major League Fishing BFL bass tournament. Early spring can be tricky in the Midwest. Cold fronts, wind, current and bass in transition make for an inconsistent bite. Kevin Miller and I started to put the pieces of the puzzle together about mid morning. Here's how our day went.

That was a fantastic finish Gabe! Even more special because it was from the back of the boat. Looks like your boater was really good about keeping you in a position to be competitive. If the co-angler is doing good, that could work to the advantage of the boater, in seeing what they're biting on. Looks like Finley was taking care of some security breach, Haha.

You're literally only person other than me who throws that jig. I had a good thing going monte lol. Just joking brother. However that jig absolutely works and gets hung less than anything I've fished as far as jigs. Shame you can hardly find them now.God bless sir

Nice job! I've heard that crawfish actually have more protein than shad. And big females prefer crawfish when they can get them.
Thanks. I just did some research. A pound of crawfish has 67 grams of protein and a pound of shad has 76 grams of protein. this is what I came up with based off about 10 mins of research. I think crawfish just become available in the early spring and bass take advantage of them.

Congrats on your finish, hopefully U got your trophy. A buddy of mine tied for 5th once & they never sent his. I’ve got a lil “secret” worm also, that I’ve probably made over $5k as a Co on it the past 3/4yrs. Had a 2nd this yr on it & lost that bfl by ONE ounce. They eat it on every lake, I just have to figure out the color they want. It’s not even a “big” name brand, just a lil small tackle shop worm. I’m so secretive about it, that I take it outta the original pack & put em in a Zoom bag 🤫🤫🤫

Watching from Canada, we really do not see dock fisherman often.
There is enough water to fish to exclude docks and its just seems intrusive.
Not to mention not alot of largies are around, but a smallmouth does call docks home, just get left alone.

haha I still fish an 1'8th oz shakeyhead on a spinning rod but I like that hookset on anything heavier.
Okay I have a question about bfl rules. I've been researching the bfl because I'm interested in fishing on the co-angler side. I was reading in their rules that the minimum length limit is 12 in. Of course unless the prevailing state limit is higher than they use that. Here's my question it says for short fish that there's a 1 lb penalty for every short fish weighed in. So if you catch a 14 and a half inch two pounder, why wouldn't you weigh it in especially as a co-angler and take the 1 lb penalty? Or even if you had a pound and a half fish that was a little bit short. It's good for points. Am I misunderstanding the rule or is that correct?
Good question. You're short fish will not be weighed in and you will get a 1 pound penalty applied to the rest of your weight..
