    It's brutal watching the boater culling fish after fish. I've been there.... Great video of life as a co-angler when FFS is dominating. Thanks for sharing, Gabe!!!

    I’ve been on that side of the fence, especially cause my lakes are blueback herring lakes. I’ve won a few & everything has to go right, that FFS situation is not one of them. U did have a chance & days like that U can’t afford ANY mistakes. That ONE fish U lost could’ve possibly got U into day 2. I’ve fished 100+ tourneys & im not quitting b/c of FFS, I’ll quit when I lose that drive. I’ve won a regional & 3 yrs later sold my Phoenix, so I’ll always be ahead as long as I fish. I felt your pain in this video but enjoyed nonetheless. Tight lines bruh!!!

    Enjoy the vids Tin Man. I've lived here on Ky Lake for 42 years and I tell ya 3 years from now baring anything crazy happening the lake will be good real good maybe like in 90's when it was fishing good. I've never seen the shad spawns we've had last couple years a Bass could open it's mouth close it's eyes and swim 50 ft and eat it's that much bait on south end at least. Jake seem like good fella but there's just no way I wouldn't have had you up front scoping to get you 2 fish if that's what co's weigh in. Naw we would've gotten your fish as well. That's just me not bad mouthing anyone at all we are all built wirde different just life. Keep em coming!!!! Ole Boyd Duckett not getting much sleep these day's lol reckon.

    I’ve fished some BFLs as a Co and only had 1 decent boater that seemed like he cared about his Co Angler so never got into any more. I was seriously thinking of entering a couple in Florida this winter when down there but I think I’ll just spend that money and rent a boat to fish by myself 👍👍👍👍 way to hang in there Gabe !

    Jake's the guy to learn from no doubt. You might have benefited more putting down your rods, and standing on the front deck watching him and the graph. LOL. So, he caught most of his fish with a swim bait reeled over them? First I've seen trolling motors on raptors? How does he use them? Can't wait 'til you have Jake on your podcast.

    • @TheTinHorseMonty
      @TheTinHorseMonty  11 месяцев назад +1

      I was watching him. Honestly I think the biggest thing I learned was how he fished. I mean the discipline and not wasting time. The TM on the poles are brakes. They stop the boat almost instantly so the boat stays off the brush.

    I heard on a podcast FFS was killing coangler results and their experience constantly being “back boated”. Have you noticed that ? I was thinking about giving a go at being a coangler a few times next year.

    • @TheTinHorseMonty
      @TheTinHorseMonty  11 месяцев назад

      I think it depends on the lake and the time of year. FFS is not as critical in April and May when the fish are shallow as it is in other times of the year. I would still enter a few BFL's and see what you think.

  • @donbarks6712
    @donbarks6712 Год назад +1

    Got his 5 dude could have help you out and got your 3 then went a done all his culling. But you know that he wouldn’t been able to do what he did without that little screen up front. But what I’m more interested in is the brakes on the power poles. Dangerously effective for being able to cast with the wind and still being able to pan. Mmm I foresee many pros next year with that setup

    • @TheTinHorseMonty
      @TheTinHorseMonty  11 месяцев назад +1

      I agree. A bunch of pros will have brakes next year. Very effective

  • @lynnmoss1183
    @lynnmoss1183 11 месяцев назад +1

    This shows that tournaments that set up for FFS, that anglers will be forced to change the way they fish and mainly use FFS to compete. Jake mentioned he selectively entered this tourney because it set up for him. Jake slayed the fish. You struggled to get bites. That's how powerful this "just another tool" can be.
    More anglers are getting proficient using FFS, on the local club level. Our last 2 tourneys, the winners who have dialed in FFS, doubled 2nd place weight. I've got 2 options, fish with FFS to compete, or quit the club.
    The number of tourney entries may fall as Non FFS anglers who don't won't to learn and play catchup with FFS begin dropping out, along with the co-anglers who get tired of fishing behind the FFS anglers.

    • @TheTinHorseMonty
      @TheTinHorseMonty  11 месяцев назад +1

      All valid points Lynn. If a tournament angler is going to compete consistently, they are going to have to learn how to use it. It just makes a person more efficient

  • @aallen2003
    @aallen2003 10 месяцев назад +1

    I see alot of comments complaining about the way the boater went about the day.. Listen folks.. this is what it has come to regardless of if we like it or not.. To compete with everyone else doing the SAME thing this boater did what he had to do! The guy probably spent countless hours on the water, gas, tackle etc putting together the plan he executed for the win. Had he fished any differently, he more than likely would have been another guy donating to the winner!!

    • @TheTinHorseMonty
      @TheTinHorseMonty  10 месяцев назад +1

      I know Jake has spent thousands of hours working on his FFS game. He is way better than average at it. He did his homework and ran his plan. I agree with what you said. Sometimes your in the back of the boat to learn. Thanks for the comment. just subbed to your channel.

    Seems like a small tracker could be put on the released fish to determine what percentage of the fish dies. I have a suspicion they don't want to know. Got to be a better way to preserve the resource.

    This is the future of fishing and the end of the co-angler.. Got stuck in 100 foot of water with a guy that ran his trolling motor on 4 mph casting at fish suspended in 30 ft of water…. Not much you can do…. Took it as a learning lesson and know it is time to either be a boater or get out of tournaments….

    You had made a comment while you guys were fishing on how much FFS is a game changer. I don’t have FFS because 1st of all can’t afford it at this time and of course I could rant on my opinion but nobody wants to hear that. My question is do you think they will start having tournaments without FFS so I feel like a can compete again? I feel like it’s such a game changer I don’t even enter some tournaments because I feel like I’m donating my money!! I feel like after mid May after the shallow bite goes away and they move off the bank I’m screwed!! Good Video Gabe!!

    • @TheTinHorseMonty
      @TheTinHorseMonty  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Matt. I think the electronics companies are imbedded in tournaments so I don't see FFS going away. I have FFS on my jon boat and it makes a big difference most of the time. It shows you where the stumps, grass, rocks and brush are. You still have to put in the time and work hard to be better with it but it cuts down the learning curve. There's a big disadvantage when the fish are not shallow

He fished FFS ALL day and I watched you in the back of the boat fan casting every lure you had. You didn’t stand a chance in the tournament and that’s sad. You’re a great fisherman but this video was unreal. I couldn’t believe an angler could be so selfish. He wasn’t competing against you.
