Not gonna lie, I was incredibly anxious every time your hand got close to the Gecko's mouth. My only experience with these guys is a friend's Tokay and he is... An absolutely heinous little gremlin. He bites, it hurts, and he knows it hurts and will very enthusiastically share that hurt with basically anything that fits in his mouth.

@@moth9659 ye if u where to get a leopard gecko for example (i have 1) u would need to provide multi vitamins vitamin c and d3 theres also stuck shed mainly on toes need to be removed otherwise it will block blood flow their tail can fall off if stressed or pulled and if u only get 1 leave it alone for a week ( how long i left him) to get used to his surroundings, try and feed him also😁 i have a vid on my channel with my leo if u want to watch i only recently started handling him
These guys can be incredibly friendly if you work with them on the routine , earn their trust and make sure they have great husbandry. All geckos have a different personality so it can also depend on that,where they came from, and gender . Theyr really smart lil demons .

That gecko its insanely chill. As someone who only owns cats, it's weird to me seeing an animal not react at all to being touched constantly, being nudged and picked up. He's just vibin and accepts your presence completely.

My tokay had a calcium growth on his lower jaw from them giving too much calcium on his food. That's probably the happiest tokay in existence. In a lotta other videos with tokays, they're either barking up a storm or they're super stressed, but this little dude looks so content and chill. This one doesn't bark even once! Even his pupils are dilated! How'd you do it?
Another thing for your mom to realize: this thing is small as shit. Dogs and cats are far more dangerous than geckos, and far more people own those as pets :)
I mean sure, there will always be individuals that aren't aggressive, but most are especially if they are wild caught (which most store bought ones are). So if you plan to handle one make sure it's captive bred. Also don't go expecting anyone else to hold him. Tokays have a really nasty bite (there a reason why they are infamous for their bites), so don't go forcing others to risk that. And of course, make sure u can take care of it yourself, with that kind of bite not many people are going to be willing to feed it while your away on vacation and such (not even other reptile owners sometimes). Get one if you want, but I highly suggest getting a captive bred one, they are a little more pricey, but you'll be getting your money's worth on temperament. Try going to a local reptile show and ask the vendors if they have any available or know any, or make sure the website your ordering from is reliable and actually says captive bred. They aren't for beginners btw, so if this is your first reptile, don't get it. Leopard geckos and bearded dragons are a better first pet
Tokays are notorious for having a very angry disposition. They will bark at you, lunge at you with their mouths open, and giving the chance will show you how much bite force they have in those little mouths (spoiler: A LOT OF BITE FORCE). But if you get one as a baby, and manage to survive it's attempts amputate a finger from you; they can chill out and become very mellow lizards, sometimes. Like everything each Tokay has a different personality, some will calm down, others will still attempt to murder the giant pink thing attempting to touch it. But they are quite beautiful
Tokays aren't normally like this. They are normally very aggressive and will bite and not let go for quite a while. I have never seen one as tame as this one. And normally they have red spots instead of yellow.

Try going to a local reptile show and ask the vendors if they have any available or know any, or make sure the website your ordering from is reliable and actually says captive bred. They aren't for beginners btw, so if this is your first reptile, don't get it. Leopard geckos and bearded dragons are a better first pet
@@beardlessdragon not really, tokays can get up to 17 inches and even more, as long as they have space and food, they will never stop growing

Tokays are known for being violent assholes this one is a rare exception
Tokays are notorious for having a very angry disposition. They will bark at you, lunge at you with their mouths open, and giving the chance will show you how much bite force they have in those little mouths (spoiler: A LOT OF BITE FORCE). But if you get one as a baby, and manage to survive it's attempts amputate a finger from you; they can chill out and become very mellow lizards, sometimes.
Like everything each Tokay has a different personality, some will calm down, others will still attempt to murder the giant pink thing attempting to touch it.
But they are quite beautiful
Tokays aren't normally like this. They are normally very aggressive and will bite and not let go for quite a while. I have never seen one as tame as this one. And normally they have red spots instead of yellow.
