Im the 500th liker of u. We just arrived here in Berlin last night. Having hard time to find U bahn line. Great i saw ur video. Now ill can go and find many places. Tha k u so much
germany is the heart of europe, i've always believed there is something special about the german people, they've made such a great country although all the wounds they had on ww2
@@luckerhdd3929 Geographically maybe... (there are many countries claiming otherwise such as Austria, Hungary etc.) But Economically, Politically, Logistically Czechia is barely a sidenote in history (it didn´t even exist pre WW1 (or 1992 if You treat Slovakia as a separate entity)) in it´s modern form). Claiming the title "Heart of Europe" is at least "controversial".

Very helpful video! Like the one of Tegel-Airport ;) But to be precise I'd like to add some points: Tracks 5-8 are designed for all trains which pass Berlin in northern direction (to Hamburg, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania (Rostock, Stralsund) and the north of Brandenburg), tracks 1-4 for all trains in southern direction (to Saxony (Leipzig, Dresden), Bavaria (Nuremberg, Munich) and south of Brandenburg. Tracks 11-14 are for trains in east-western direction (or vice versa), so they are going to Frankfurt/Oder, Warsaw (Poland) (tracks 11 and 12); Hanover, Cologne, Bonn, Frankfurt/Main and Basel (Switzerland) (tracks 13 and 14). All these tracks are used by regional and main line trains! Only Tracks 15 and 16 are in use for the S-Bahn at the moment. Well, maybe you have wondered that there two tracks missing - yes, 9 and 10. These two tracks are still under construction for an S-Bahn line going underground in north-southern direction. This project is called "S21 Berlin". As the U-Bahn is part of the BVG and not of the "Deutsche Bahn" ("DB"; the S-Bahn belongs to the DB), the two tracks of the U55 are not included in the main counting at Berlin Hbf.
You're welcome! ;) I'm very pleased that I could help you! As you may have guessed, I am german (born and living in Berlin) and I'm very interested in the view of non-germans concerning Berlin/Germany and if they feel comfortable with the german way of helping foreigners to get along here and what we could improve :)
6:30 Ostbahnhof used to be called Hauptbahnhof from 1987 to 1998 when before the current Hauptbahnhof was rebuilt, previously being called Lehrter Bahnhof. Confusing eh ?
I wish RUclips recommended me this video a few days earlier before I got lost on that station looking for a connection from U-Bahn to S-Bahn 😅 But now I know I won’t lost there anymore
This is not the biggest railway station in Europe; it's the biggest _crossing_ railway station. There are a host of bigger stations even in Germany: Leipzig, Frankfurt and Munich, to name three.

Thank YOU! Did you mean Rick Steves? He is truly professional!! Although I have been traveling since I was 5 years old, I only share what I see when I travel. I like to bring my viewers along with me. Rick Steves really explains the history and more details. But, hey, thanks for putting both of us in the same sentence.
Nice video but Berlin Hbf is not even the largest station in Germany let alone in Europe. In Germany at least Frankfurt and Munich have much larger central stations.
That is great! Sounds like you've traveled a bit. Some people find this Train Station confusing because it is still under construction and things change all the time, plus it is sooooo big. Thanks for watching my channel! xxx
Yeah, you are right. I read it somewhere but not correct. I have to change the title and add a correction in the description. I also filmed Munich Hbf but it doesn't look as monstrous as Berlin. Here is the link ✅ Munich Main Train Station (Hbf) - Trains, Tracks and Tips ruclips.net/video/DyIoYRroZPM/видео.html Thanks for the info and for watching my channel!!
I don't know anymore which one is bigger, hahaha. Yes, Frankfurt is indeed very big, but it is horizontal wise, whereas Berlin Station is vertically. They are both huge!!
You have helped me so much! I am planning to take a train from Berlin to Prague in a few months and I am from 🇺🇸 the rural Midwest, we have no public transportation at all. And the thought of finding a train at this massive Berlin station terrifies me. I have screwed up train travel in Europe before (wrong train once and bought a ticket for the wrong country!!! because the ticket vendor didn’t understand my pronunciation well). Seeing the station on your tour here is reassuring that at least I can now find the right area of the station. 🚉 Thank you.
You ended up in the wrong country?? Oh no. Poor you. Don't worry, you got this. Whenever people do not understand you, show them where you are going written out on a piece of paper or on your phone. Thanks for watching!!
hahaha, you say it as a German, I liked that. Next time I go to Vienna, I will have to check it out. Thanks for the info and for watching my channel! xxx
Would love to return to Berlin 🙂 Has a special place in my heart.
I agree. Berlin is the BEST! Always love going back! Thanks for watching my channel! xxx
My pleasure :)
Very helpful, have been to this fabulous city many times. You must go!
Indeed, I love Berlin!!

Very good video. Keep up the good work
Thank you very much!

Geographically Czechia is heart of Europe 😉
@@luckerhdd3929 LOL, I like that!
Nora, I really agree with you! Daniel from Rio de Janeiro.

your voice- of course in addition to this valuable information - is very beautiful, thank you dear.. that helps me a lot.
Thanks so much for your kind comment. I never really noticed my voice. ☺️
You are very cool! Nice job! Daniel from Rio de Janeiro.
I remember being there... I wanna go again :)
Great! Enjoy!

Was the tourist info at the exit to Europa- or Washingtonplatz?

Ahhhhh, this train station is very difficult to explain. Thanks for your help!
Not that confusing :). The Ostbahnhof (Hauptbahnhof 1987-1998) was the Hauptbahnhof (en.: Main Station) of East Germany (DDR).
I wish RUclips recommended me this video a few days earlier before I got lost on that station looking for a connection from U-Bahn to S-Bahn 😅 But now I know I won’t lost there anymore

Glad it helped! Thanks
Berlin Hbf is the biggest Crossing-Station not the biggest station.
OK, thanks for clearing this up!
MuchoHop
Omg
MuchoHop
has readen my comment 😮
@@MuchoHop I believe that if you go by enclosed volume, it is Europe's biggest station. It has such a high ceiling on top of the 5 levels

you're so amazing

Actually Berlin Hauptbanhof is not even the largest station in Germany. And even in Berlin itself there are stations of similar size
Nice video but Berlin Hbf is not even the largest station in Germany let alone in Europe. In Germany at least Frankfurt and Munich have much larger central stations.
Leipzig Hbf ,the top of Germany !
Das ist richtig. Hamburg ist nach Passagieren größter Bahnhof Deutschlands, München nach Gleiszahl bzw. Bahnsteigen.
In Germany, Berlin Hbf is No. 4 concerning the passenger number (after Hamburg Hbf (1), Munich (2) und Frankfurt/Main (3)).
I didn't find it too difficult to navigate Berlin Haptbahnof

Berlin Hbf is a Great station but isn’t Europe‘s largest. Munich Hbf and Roma Termini are larger.

So much for German efficiency...
No no the biggest station is in frankfurt
I don't know anymore which one is bigger, hahaha. Yes, Frankfurt is indeed very big, but it is horizontal wise, whereas Berlin Station is vertically. They are both huge!!
Frankfurt has the most train traffic. Hamburg has most passenger traffic.

Leipzig Hauptbahnhof is larger!
True, but it is really two stations next to each other (historically) and is a terminus station (dead end). A lot less confusing in my experience.
This place is no comparison to the 3rd world so called "Intermodal Hub" in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA owned and operated by UTA!
I don't think Berlin Hautbahnhof is the largest station in Europe.
You are probably right. I heard the same! Thanks for commenting!
It is the Biggest Turmbahnhof ( Tower Station ) in Europe.
the new mainstation from Vienna is bigger, and nicer was creatited in a better way, I say that as a German!
hahaha, you say it as a German, I liked that. Next time I go to Vienna, I will have to check it out. Thanks for the info and for watching my channel! xxx
