    Okay so I think I can sum up the video for those who don't feel like watching till the end: deescalation should take priority over violence; wearing a thick winter coat can make your chokes less effective; grappling can be ideal for 1 on 1 fights but striking is better if you are outnumbered; and if you ever really want to show Firas Zahabi something on your phone, make sure you're not in Canada.

    • @FormulaJuan3538
      @FormulaJuan3538 4 года назад +2

      I glanced over the thick winter coat issue, which I probably shouldn’t, especially since I live in an area with cold winters.
      Wearing one can be a positive if you can easily Deescalate the other person, as the choke won’t be as effective. If they aren’t letting up, take the heavy jacket off and carefully choke them out, and hope that you have a sweater underneath Lol

First time i got a rearnaked and the 2nd time i got kind of a shitty neck crank. Both times they tapped on my arm. I threatened them not to harm me and pushed them off. Both times the fight ended there. Both times i did have a crowd and i remember being terrified of being stopped out by people standing around. Ive been very lucky, but people can be surprised how well submissions work in real fights without having to sleep them.

      @Beaujangles McJiggle Judo has good groundwork. But it's limited. You have 10 seconds to get something and then another 10-20 to work it. So in judo, most of the time when someone gets into a good defensive position it's just not worth the effort. But when ground work is attempted, it means the attacker has to explosively get into it and get something fast, which is good in a self defence situation where you don't want to be on the ground too long. As far as self defense application goes, Judo ground game is practical and realistic. In judo, the purpose of the ground game is for when the throw doesn't work and then it's a back up, and a defense if you end up on the ground with them. the ippon (winning throw) is supposed to mimic a throw which, if it didn't happen on the matt, would severly incapacitate the other person.

    Growing up in South Florida I wish I knew to walk away but I also never back down, I also have no formal skills...just street fights etc it's amazing how as much as I avoid situations, they come to me...but when I impose my will visually first...%99 nothing happens because people seeing I'm not an easy target. My instinct is to protect etc I really wish I knew the skills a trained fighter processes. I would have more discipline etc. When most people see I'm not what I look on the outside and they look in my eyes, nothing happens...only once I was backed by my neighbor on our front balcony n he threatened to throw me off and i swear my instinct and God took over with two hooks and two uppercuts and I didn't hit em after hit he the ground. I've been jumped a few times but nothing but punching to the back of my head. 6-1....I got up and asked for 1-1 and got the same treatment. Our world has changed so much as far as respect for elders, others, and each other. When I go out I know it's a jungle out there. I just know basic boxing and it's got me far enough but it's a wild world man. Appreciate the advice and everything you advise in these situations.

    Back when I was in high school (secondary School for all my Euro friends.) I had wrestled a year prior, won a few amateur Golden gloves/IKF tournaments and was on a date with a girl at the movies. Some boys were standing around together pointing and making gestures at her (she was smoking hot to be fair.) So I gavee them a stern look and I thought that was the end of that. Half way through the movie I got up to go to the restroom. Long behold Johnny jackass and his band of low life were their. They harassed me with questions like "is she tight?" "How much did she let you do?" So I just told them to please leave me alone in a scared and timing tone. Realizing they weren't going to leave me alone I abandoned the bathroom and heading for the concession stand. (An altercation is much better handled in a public place.) They interpreted this as me trying to flee and called me a pussy and said they'd take my girl. Then one of them pushed me and I front kicked him in the chest. I told him to stay down. He sprang back up swinging a switch blade comb at me so I rolled once and gave him a left straight from hell. I got my gf and told her we have to go. Then I got to school that Monday and got expelled from school!

      Sanda: biggest scores are from takedown and pushing opponent out of arena. If you're a ground fighter, it complements your style well. If you like to win by decision, it gives you more cage control
      Muay thai: takedown is allowed but doesn't count as score. If you achieved gold medal in all grappling sports, and want to focus on your striking, it's your best deal

    At the end of the day you choke somebody out you could kill them, then you're up for murder charges. You armbar them and then what? You going to snap their arm? That is not a reasonable response to a fist fight and no court is going to rule in your favor if you do it. So guy calls your bluff from your armbar, now what? Try the 60 second hold and hope he calms down? Doesn't always work and sometimes just pisses them right the fuck off. At the end of the day you can put somebody in a locks all day and its a simple threat analysis, you pose no threat without becoming the aggressor and being charged
