Subhanallah Coach you drop gems ever single time! Keep it going you are an amazing inspiration. 2 weeks ago i started jiu jitsu at my university after listening to your videos.
I believe you are very right, I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees this same problem with the ‘education system’. You are a very perceptive person imo, maybe you could change the world for good too with that vision you have. Maybe you’re doing it right now without even knowing.
Seven habits was a big one for me. The habit of being proactive is a gamechanger - control what you can, let go of what you can't and hone the ability to distinguish between the two.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, Taking, as Jesus did, This sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it, Trusting that You will make all things right, If I surrender to Your will, So that I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen.
I've been away working my tail off general contracting, haven't tuned in for a while, this popped up at the perfect time. I woke up this morning all weighted down over small things that I have no control over. I had to remind myself to relax & keep focus, so you've definitely helped me get sorted out Coach, thanks man & god bless!
Firas, I do philosophy and you blew my mind with the ramifications of the p = not p example of the liar's paradox. I've heard the paradox before but never understood it and why it was such a big problem. Thanks for the insight. I wish I could have a conversation with you about this because it's literally what I do every moment I have free time!
Great tips on stress plus the point you make. Just because we don't feel stressed it doesn't mean that the body and its systems are under stressed in the background
Firas, you always inspire me! You're such a great role model! Along with being an MMA Coach, you're also a "Life Coach"! Thank you, for always sharing your wisdom! 🙏
I love listening to you from time to time. The way you give advice is so to the point and so humane at the same time. People who have strength of character and positive humanity are so easy to trust. You were awesome on the Joe rogan experience and impact theory . sitting seven seas away just watching you on the screen if I have such a positive effect, I can imagine the way you affect the fighters you train. Wish you well coach . deep gratitude.
I live in BR and I've never been to Canada. The first place I want to visit there is Tristar Gym. That would be an ideal vacation for a martial artist lol. What a legend!
Take a paper and a pen to write some things down and listen to a lots of firas video. Then apply this to your life and you become super human , thanks firas
I’m not here to learn AMA, maybe a more healthy lifestyle, you’re a great resource to open the mind on being a better leader in both body and mental health - best find ever! Keep up the great work!
Hello coach, i really appreciat the great advice you give, god bless you. I have a question for you, i train kickboxing and weightlifting, and i study and work at the same time. Are there any methods to improve my recovery, supplements... ?
For email. I usually ask people to put a word on the subject line that will catch my attention. Also have it automatically forward the important emails in a Folder.
Firas is it possible to build muscle using the flow state momentum training you mentioned previously? If so what’s a decent programme to follow? Appreciate the content you put out has inspired me to be more active and healthy “if you can’t make time for exercise make time for disease” your best quote!
Best book I've read on stress and inoculation against it is legacy by James Kerr. His book on how the all blacks ( most successful team in sporting history) and how they deal with stress is exceptional. Also "on killing " by lt. col. David Grossman is another book worthy of a read about stress
Zahabi I’m currently 18 years old and want to become at least an amateur MMA fighter. I’ve been training MMA for like 4 months back when I was 15. I’m considering starting wrestling. However I’ll only train 2 times a week+ 1 day focused on strength and conditioning. My question to you is should I combine wrestling with boxing or bjj. You advocate people to practice one martial art 5 times a week ala flow training. But I’ve a different situation where I’ll only be able to train 2 times a week.
Maybe you should start listening to music, Coach. You said in a previous chat that you think it's a waste of time because you are not expanding your mind, but that is not really accurate. There are many studies that show listening to music has many health and cognitive benefits - including stress reduction ;)
I agree my friend though it's not for everyone. For me, music is extremely therapeutic. I grew up in a family full of musicians. Since I was about 3 or 4, music has been a huge part of my life. My mind rarely rests and all the numbers, all the notes, all the beats, all the melodies, all the arrangements, all the lyrics, all the different emotions evoked, all the memories, seem to stimulate my mind immensely... Music is very powerful, both positively as well as negatively. I love creative writing too. For me, it all seems to expand my thought process and like you mentioned, cognitive function 👍
Hey coach I was watching your flow state theory and it opened my eyes alot but sometimes I feel like the only way to catch up to people is over training so do u have any input on this im still young but I just want to be the best as I can be but when I overwork myself I feel to unmotivated and exhausted
Here is what I took away: You avoid stress by avoiding overwhelm. You avoid overwhelm by focusing on only one thing at a time. Here are 4 things to consider when you organize your life. “First thinks First” 1. List the 10 most important things you have to do for the day (or even week) 2. Priorities them in order importance 3. Do the most important thing FIRST 4. Don’t multitask. Focus on one thing at a time. You will get much more done that way. Find something that works for you to stay focused on one thing at a time and to keep things in the right order.
awesome . my secret is meditation : there its not a secret anymore, twice a day 20 minutes . most will never ; I am 10 plus year in bjj , don't listen to me . it will change your life . awareness , mindfulness , good luck newaza peeps
"she doesn't think" , they should do a blood test .to know what is going on, your cortisol levels would be through the roof if you're losing hair bc of stress.
to get an accurate measure of cortisol, sampling over 3-5 days, 5 times/day providing saliva. Allows to map a person's diurnal rhythm thus basal cortisol levels. These differ from reactive cortisol levels when in stressful situations. Two different things and one measurement in time does not show much.
Let me thank you for rescuing the PRACTICAL and APPLICABLE BEAUTY of philosophy, something that has traditionally (and foolishly) been labeled as obsolete and boring.
