My bird gives me a huge freak out whenever hormone season happens, he fluffs up and moves a lot like a robot (probably thinks he looks sexy like that lol), food is one of the aspects of that. As an african grey, he has a lot of tricks out his sleeve, like waiting for us (or specifically my mom) to pour toppings into his bowl because our human compassion is desperate for him to start eating, waiting for the fresh food to become moosh before eating, and etc.

You are doing amazing things. Thank you for putting this info out there! I don't have birds, I have two cats though and I've actually learned so much that helped me with my cats funny enough lol. One of my cats has been losing her appetite a little lately and this tells me that maybe I need to spice it up a little for her! Something I didn't even think of bc my older cat will eat anything and everything at any given moment lol. But seriously this is so helpful. Sometimes when they are dissatisfied I never know what to do next and all of these suggestions really reframe the situation. You're saving birds lives! And cats. 😻

Hi birdtricks. I love your video's! I have a house sparrow that I had rescued last year on July 19. She had a broken wing that took a long time to heal and a few other problems that I had to help her with. She will not be able to back into the wild, she is a very happy bird and you guys have helped me to train my "very" smart birdie! Would you mind if you could make some more videos about small birds?
    Thanks!

My teil is very weird with eating. Sometimes he just loves chop, and then just refuses to eat it, and then eats it (he always loves his pellets btw)
He is currently in “I won’t eat the chop” faze, so I have to take him out of my room sit down, put him on my knee and give him his greens and veggies whole, and he eats it fine. Sometimes we must be creative as bird parents😅

I know first hand Jamie speaks the truth! My budgie Angel had a terrible time with pellet conversion. We had the most success with Nutriberries. I know full of sugar and not ideal. However we were able to progress through the various versions with the ratio of pellets in the berries gradually increasing. Once we were on full pellets we were able to transition to Tops pellets! Then starting with birdie bread topped with millet on top as bait, she started nibbling on that after several weeks. Finally over time she tried minced fresh veggies. This took so long. Fast forward to now - Angel readily eats her fresh chop with shredded zucchini, carrots, peppers and other chunkier vegetables. We discovered she really likes blueberries! So now we use a small amount of blueberries whenever we are trying new vegetables.

We've separated the cage into two storeys (mostly for overnight) to minimize bullying of our male budgie by the female. The rest of the time they fly and get on well together, but training sessions are difficult, since she tends to take over. They are used to training together and having her take the lead.
When I try to train them separately, they seem less interested, especially the male, who is easily distracted and just goes after the millet. I guess we have to just persist with him separately, but it is hard not to favour the more aggressive (and progressive) female.
They are 8 months old and eating more erratically, so I guess this may be a question of hormones, as your video points out.

Thankyou, timing of this video is amazing!!🤔 Been giving my Meyers parrot your NFS for long time now and she loves it, she was a baby, and coverting from seeds to vege’s and pellets not to much drama. But.... have just added a new feathered rehomed Moustache parrot, 6 mths old, think she got put in the ‘too hard basket’ at previous owners place. Omgoodness, she got fed this seed diet with pellets that were bright blue and red, I was quietly horrified. So we have started transitioning, only had her a week, but mix her chop with the horrific seed mix, and give less of the seed mix each day, so far this is working, and her poo’s now look great, not the orange brown stuff she was passing when she arrived. She took to the pellets I use, quite well, we can’t get yours in Australia sadly, but still have to put small amount of seed with them, but gets less everyday also.
Just love the recipe books, though I do have to google some of the names of ingredients to get them to Australian. 😂 Take care an Thankyou.

I stay at my office all day and only meet her once I come home at night. So she remains alone all day. Her diet is only sunflower seeds. She doesn't eat fruits or vegetables. The problem is now she starts plucking her big feathers and not letting them grow. She even hurt herself while plucking and sometimes bleeding. Don't let him fly if he is falling to the ground. He can break his pelvis, his keel bone or his legs if he keeps landing hard. I would be calling that pet shop and tell them that you did not request a clipped bird and they shouldn't automatically clipped them without asking first. That's horrible to mutilate a young bird that way. Budgies and other parrots can be tamed without clipping their wings.

Is it safe for parrots to eat eggs daily? I'm wondering as I'm thinking of making my parrot an omellet in the mornings with steamed veggies in to get him to eat vegetables!

No it's unhealthy, eggs should be fed once in 2 weeks

If you aren’t prepared or motivated to do this much work, yes, best not to get a bird. They are high maintenance. People who aren’t into high maintenance pets should get a cat, as birds are extremely rewarding to have as pets, but also extremely sensitive and difficult

My little one would rather starve to death than eat any veggies or fruits or anything else but his seed mixs from a store :( I've tried different textures, different sizes and temperatures. I've tried to mix seeds with finely grained veggies (he managed to only pick those seeds), I've tried sprinkling fruits with seeds. I've tried to offer him some boiled eggs, some greenery. I've tried every trick I could find on the Internet. Nothing works. He doesn't even like millets :( I'm desperate, to be honest
