  • The big swede gets dirty in the old hog manure tanker trailer, power washing it out.
Chet puts brake chamber on the terragator.
Chet also torches the old pipes out of the tanker trailer.
after the tanker trailer is converted, the whole crew works together on placing it in its new home.

Please don't let anyone ever go into a confined space without checking the oxygen level, especially a tank used for transporting hog manure, which is rich with methane gas. To top of all that, you used a torch to cut metal inside the tank where toxic gases are abundant. I have 1st hand knowledge of some horror stories. Please be safe!

We have a pit in our shop it's very handy. In michigan we have to have a exit from the pit to the outside of the shop in case of fire. We also have to cary special insurance on the pit . We were required to have a ventilation system because welding and torching gases like acetylene gather in the lowest point of a building if there was a leak . Pits are useful but are an insurance liability. We also have 2 hoists for cars and light pick up trucks . We do mechanic work and fabrication on the side during the winter on cars trucks and heavy equipment. Nice video stay safe and farm on my friends !

So I will add to the chorus of voices about the tank entry. I have done this professionally onboard oil tankers and its 100% SERIOUS BUSINESS! While you may not have access to all of the gas/oxygen meters we do offshore there is 1 thing you can do to help prevent a serious FATAL accident... ventilate, ventilate, and then ventilate some more. You should do this ANY time you enter a confined space such as a grain bin, tanker, cistern, and such. Don't be shy about it, the more and longer the better! There are lots of things like rust, decomposing manure that consume oxygen, if you or someone working for you enters a space with insufficient oxygen they WILL collapse and start to DIE, and if you try to save them without a source of oxygen YOU WILL DIE TOO! These scenarios are all too common in many industries, do some reading, talk to your workers and make sure you aren't sending someone into a deadly space. If you want help shoot me a message and I will point you in the right direction.

You may say it’s been cleaned - by your own admission that man went in to do more cleaning. Even clean tanks must be treated as a high risk entry. Also have someone watching that man trained in the use of a rescue device. Y’all are really rolling the dice here. A couple thousand dollars, some training and a different approach is cheap when it comes to someone’s life.

Just a tip, landing gears on semi trailers are normally rated at 50,000#. But I think you had the right idea with cribbing under the king pin plate. Never hurts to cya. One idea to save wear and tear on your well pump is to use rain water. If any of your sheds have gutters, hooking onto them and diverting water to the tanks would get more than you need very quickly. One inch of rain gives you just under 3quarts per square foot of roof area. A couple spring rains and they would be full. I did that off my shop roof, a couple years ago I had 10,000 gallons from 3 rains. The only issue is leaves in the gutters, but if you dont have trees nearby, it isn't an issue. If you did have leaves, a filter can be made from a 5 gallon plastic bucket and cheap 5 gallon paint strainers. They worked great for my rainwater setup. Just some ideas, good luck. The best part of it was it is all gravity, no electricity required to fill the tanks.

Hello friend, on the back/rear of a brake pot there is a bolt called a caging bolt that is to keep the emergency spring side compressed. When I measure my push rods after old pot uninstalled I will apply air to the service side with a airline with a shutoff valve/handle to both the old and new pot, that pushes the push rod out to it's max length so you get a bang on measurement. Also you had it right at first after installing the brake pot and installed your pins and air lines, remove the caging bolt make sure you release your park brake after chocking the wheels. Then do a brake adjustment, going all the way tight with the slack adjuster then backing off half a turn, will give you 1 ½" stoke. Cheers! Keep up the good vids! And hard work!

i'm surprised there isn't an old pair of cattle clippers laying around somewhere that would be heavy enough to deal with Chet's hair. You're starting to look like the south end of a northbound bear there boy! No concern that the residual rust in the tank won't overwhelm the filter system? It appeared there was still of lot of rust coming out while the Swede was pressure washing.

They have a hevy duty commecial gilmour 3/4" I.D. hose, open then ends for winter. IT should help the flow also if the hose is y'd off with a regular splitter, it cuts your flow by 50%. Gilmour sells a full flow Y and Full flow shuoff if you put one by the tank. That should improve the flow rate pending the well output. Tanks a lot for the video!

You should cut a hole in the manway lid and weld in a coupler, that way you don’t end up with dead birds and critters in your tank. Just make sure that vent behind the manway works lol.

You should have ventilation in the tank - If for no other reason than co2 build up. Big Swede is big - BUT, he has a lot of fat on him. He looks big but.... Those baffles are important. Liquid sloshing in that tank can roll you over. It won['t suck anything out unless you have a way for fresh air to get in. For THOSE hoses, Chet. High Quality LOW COST chemical.

This is extremely unsafe and an overall poor judgement from everyone involved.
I don't doubt the quality & ingenuity of you work. But you all failed to realize the danger you put yourselves in.
Confined spaces will kill you, and will kill your friends when they inevitably try and rescue you.
If you don't have an oxygen monitor, or fresh-air-supply hood, or confined space training. Then you don't do the work.

Air brakes are easy if you pay attention
Lots of companies make brake pots some even put other people’s names on them
    Don’t pay for the name
    Buy the correct size
Cut the plunger to the correct length
Screw on your clevis hook up your air lines
Important chalk your wheels so your machine will not roll very important
    Step
Now release the air park brake
Now remove the spring tool form the back of the the pot
Their is a sleeve on the side of the break pot to store that tool for future use
    Store it
Now check how much travel you have
    Speck is 3/4” to 1 1/2”
    Adjust your slack adjusters
So that when you push the brake pedal you have no more than 1.5 inches
And you are good to go

Wow! You have to be kidding me. We farm in Northwest Washington and we sunk a 12 inch well casing down 100 feet to pump irrigation water from. Its plugged into an aquafier and has never run dry no matter what time of the year. We use a tractor pto driven 4 inch pump and can fill our water truck lickity split. I cant imagine using a garden hose to fill a 6,500 gallon tank.

Hey, Chest - You DO NOT toss your tools on the cement floor. Tools are what makes work easy. If you abuse your tools they stop working then you will have a difficult time.

Why didnt you go to the water depot and fill the taker up with water, when driving it home it sloshed it around then drain it. That would get ride of some of the work before pressure washing lol.
