But the first game here is really important, as it is also the first ever kart-racing game in general. Still own the original cartridge and beaten 150cc (Special Cup is a nightmare).
Damn, 5 Stages In one Cup. It was a nice saving to make It 4 stages on each cup. With the ranks and stuff added from Super Circuit on ahead (with exceptions, like Double Dash), accomplishing them would be much harder =o

This game is pretty hard to play in single player. I played through all the courses this year as Luigi and the Computer racers were out for blood, mainly Yoshi who kept throwing eggs. But I did beat it... Or so I thought. I learned that there was a 150cc in this game and I played it. Suffered through it, but at the end, I came out on top. This is definitely a "easy to play, difficult to master" game.
Bro before there was Need For Speed there was a need for Super Mario Kart. I was in my teens when this dropped my lady at the time loved Princess I followed behind with Yoshi, I think she just liked my "tongue" action 😁 jus saying.😷🔥🍺
The only thing I wish Mario Kart did differently in their games was make the weapon item choices well-rounded. Obviously, being in the top 5 is where you need to be, but you always got lousy stuff in those positions.
Well in this game the cpu's get items u can not use.The grapchics do not look good no voice clips 8 characters and the track names are bad.And that dead end in Bowser's castle.I love how there is 2 mario circuits in one cup!.They could of at least speraded the mario circuit tracks between each cup.
Review: This game feels like a chore to play, and manages to make everything feel so difficult and yet not rewarding at all at the same time. The tracks are so short that if you fall behind on the fourth lap, you have no shot at winning, especially with the ai characters randomly getting items whenever they feel like it. The tracks are so narrow that in higher CCs, you have to time your turn perfectly to not go off-road. Now, the game does let you practice with time trials, but playing without cpu and with CPU is much different. Plus, the game gives you next to nothing for completing it. At least multiplayer is fun. 4/10.
so in other words: There is no random s§$%load of overpowered items that bring you to the top and you actually have to rely on your geniuine skills?? *shocked*
@@RetroGameSpacko In my opinion, Mario Kart should lean in to the absurdity of the Mario Theme with the characters, items, karts and characters. If you want a realistic racing game, there are many games to play other than Mario Kart. Additionally, racing games shouldn't be rigged against you, they should be fair. In this game, the ai cheats in so many ways, and the tracks are so short that it's nearly impossible to catch up after falling behind, especially with the ridiculous speed the ai builds up while you're ahead.

If a new game (or movie what ever) just came out you are totally entitled to offer your negative opinion about it, because you would like things to go in another way and that is the only option you have... to explain why you don't like something. Totally acceptable. But here we have a game that is 30 years old (fact 1) and praised and beloved by almost everyone who played it back then. (fact 2). Your negative opinion about it does not benefit you AT ALL! Mario Karts history has already been written, you cannot influence it anymore. All it does is to antagonize fans of this game who hold it dearly. And for no reason. You don't go and tell people that you think the LotR trilogy is awful now, even if you think it is. Simply because it has been long established that the majority does not think it is awful. Of course I write a small review of my LP's here too. But I always look at them from the perspective of the time that they were released. I dont use todays standards, that would be simply unfair. Also: You absolutely can turn perfectly on all of the tracks even on 150cc.

I just think that it can be useful to analyze games from all different perspectives, the positive and the negative. I don't think any less of the people who like this game, in fact, I wish I liked this game. Liking more games just means more things are fun. Looking at the positive and the negative aspects of a game is important, and I don't see why a critical review posted in the comments of a Longplay is so harmful.
