UNSAFE Sidewalk FORCES People to Walk on BUSY Street
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 27 июн 2024
- In this video we clean up an extremely overgrown yard that has actually taken over the sidewalk. This is not safe because it is actually forcing people that need to walk by to actually walk in the street which is a busy seven lane road. Sit back, relax, and let's work together to clean up this overgrowth and take back the sidewalk for the safety of the community.
You would think the city would have to cut that. Thank you for your hard work
You would think once it’s a safety hazard they would have stepped in. We do have a city code that requires the homeowner on the other side of the fence to maintain it. Thanks 🙏 for watching
@@DereksLawnRescue Why do you have a "city code" that requires someone who didn't build the path, and didn't install the grass verge, to maintain them both? Do Americans pay taxes to the local authority, and what do they get in return. It seems that civilians also have to ensure that the fire hydrants, which should be maintained by the FD, are just left to the homeowner who is nearest to the hydrant. In Europe the path, and the verge, are the responsibility of the local authority, and hydrants are inspected every 3 weeks by Fire and Rescue. Is this down to the selfish "small government" that makes the taxpayer pay for the work, and then has to do the work. Totally illogical.
And, Derek, you should try the "Green Tea Diet". I lost 24 kilos in 5 months and no weight has returned. It stays off. Well worth trying. I also defeated Type 2 diabetes at the same time!
@@Demun1649 unfortunately it has been a city code before I was old enough to vote. I do wish they would tell us where the tax money has been spent. The fire department does maintain the hydrant which is nice and check on them once a month. I will definitely look into it! I am already down 20 pounds but need to lose 40 more to be happy with my weight. Thanks 🙏 for watching
Your tax dollars.... not working.... especially in that locale
@@user-ki5qn4gh5j Can you guide us towards the locale that does spend the tax dollars correctly? There are many of these channels that seem to be doing what the local authority should do.
Great job Brother, Next time put out a few traffic cones and maybe wear a safety vest. You can get that stuff cheap at like Harbor freight or Home depot or whatever. I would hate to see you get hit by a car not paying attention to you working there!
I appreciate your support. I definitely need to get some cones to put out, and need to keep my vest in the truck instead of at my house lol. Thank you 🙏 for watching
You must be a democrat
Or like me my truck I use for lawn care got strobes for when I work on busy roads
It's a shame that cities don't have workers anymore. But Derek you did a fantastic job on that walkway. Good service work my brother
Thank you 🙏 I really appreciate your support
Just think, if he was doing the work FOR the city he could just stand around and sweat 30% of the time as they would have 3 guys on this task, at least. Lol. Job well done!

It's ashamed that cities don't do their jobs and keep the sidewalks maintained. That is part of their job. Awesome job trying to maintained your neighborhood. Be careful out there.
Thank you 🙏 I am going to buy a safety vest and some cones so that way I can be safe next time I am near a busy road
Doing a fantastic job well done for helping the community ❤❤❤❤❤😊😊

Good that you’ve cleaned that up! Nice work!
Thank you for watching! I really appreciate your support
@@DereksLawnRescue I appreciate yours too!
Well done you. Be careful in that heat 😊
Thank you 🙏 I definitely will make sure to drink enough fluids
God bless you! Looks to me like the city needs to erect a fence between the highway and the sidewalk to keep pedestrians and children safe!
I completely agree. This is a really busy road and I would feel better if there was a fence as well. Thanks 🙏 for watching
Why would the city let that happen?? It really should not be your place to maintain that street they should be ashamed of themselves but it's a good thing you really care about the people because you just went ahead and got it done and thanks to you people can walk safely now and it looks good also😊😊❤❤
Thank you 🙏 for those kind words! I am glad to help where I can

Good job. That really is unsafe. Even with it cleaned up, that is still the type of road where you walk against traffic.
That road is definitely busy, and I would walk against traffic as well. Thanks 🙏 for watching

You are a good man. I'm not brave enough to run a mower with my back facing that oncoming traffic. Stay safe!!
Thank you 🙏 I definitely was nervous and will be buying a reflective vest and some cones in the future
Thanks for making the world a better/safer place.

We pay high taxes on Long Island but we get services. Those no man public sidewalk areas like this one gets cut by out town and county Departments of Public Works. You did a wonderful service here keeping pedestrians from having to insanely risk life and limb walking on that street with cars flying by at highway speeds.
Yeah, I’m in Minnesota and assuming it was allowed to get this bad it would take me a couple of minutes to report a sidewalk like this to the city and they’d have it fixed within a week.
The city puts responsibility on the homeowner by making us required to maintain 6 feet out from the property line. Unfortunately this happens and they take forever to get out in situations like this. I am just glad I am able to help. Thanks 🙏 for watching
You had nerves of steel to work along that highway. Great job 👍.
Thank you 🙏 I definitely bought a safety vest 🦺 after doing this yard
Wow man, what a transformation! Nicely done!👌
You’re a real hero for this! No doubt saved some lives clearing the blind spots in that busy area! Blessings.

Very good work. The path is unrecognizable.😊

That’s a few less tumbleweeds, great job!
Thank you 🙏 I appreciate you being here every week
It is very nice that you made the sidewalk safer, but a few observations if I may:
1. Wear a dust mask when using the blower for your lungs will get damaged if you don't and run the risk of COPD.
2. You need to put up traffic cones on a busy street like that to avoid getting hit by a vehicle.
3. Wear a fluorescent safety vest.
These kind of jobs will get you in shape brother!
I did purchase a safety vest 🦺 for jobs like this and definitely still need to get a mask. I hope so because I already lost 20 pounds but want to lose another 40! Thanks 🙏 for your support

I feel for you. It was that hot in the province of Ontario a couple of weeks ago and I was out gardening. It’s very humid here so it’s difficult to sweat. I was done in a half hour, had to hydrate and get into air conditioning. Nice job, people can walk there now. 😎🇨🇦😎

Very fast moving traffic.Good service clearing sidewalk
Thank you 🙏 and it definitely is a busy road so I am glad everyone can use the sidewalk again
Great job. Thanks for taking it on. Why doesn’t the city- county take care of this??
Unfortunately where I live there is a city code (which is supposed to save taxpayers money). Basically it states that the homeowner is responsible for maintaining the alley and in this case the area next to the street 6 feet past their property line. This means the homeowner on the other side of the fence was the one responsible for this
Awesome job

I'm always amazed at how much vegetation fills up garbage cans doing a job like this.
Cleanups like this definitely produce a ton of vegetation to clean up and it’s hard to believe exactly how much until you see it! Thank you 🙏 for watching
Cheers to ya buddy 😊

Good work! Be sure to get yourself some safety gear for working so close to a super highway or anywhere traffic is heavy! Drivers are busy texting and reaching while driving so it only takes a few seconds to make a mistake and you don’t want to be on the receiving end of that mistake!
I completely agree. I am going to get a safety vest and some cones before I do another one next to a busy street. Thanks 🙏 for watching
The city are state owes You a Check!!!
Unfortunately the city code states that the homeowner is responsible for maintaining 6 feet out from the property line, but I do agree that when it became a safety hazard they should have cleaned it up. Thanks 🙏 for your support
Keep up good work
Thank you 🙏 I definitely will

Thank you 🙏
You are bold. Them cars were too damn close.
I definitely went and bought a safety vest 🦺 after this one! Thanks 🙏 for watching
Our small town has Boy Scouts and FFA care for ours. Homeowners do care for thrm. But some have elderly or disabled Homeowners . So those are in a program that utilitizes those groups.
That would help out here. They say it’s to save tax payer dollars but we are responsible for keeping the alley and everywhere else 6 feet past the property line maintained. A program like that would really benefit those in need here
I came out with a good name for a lawn business like yours brothers of faith cause u put more love and fairh in your work and to show people to have more faith in god.
Go for it! I really like that name. I would say brothers of faith lawncare. Thanks 🙏 for watching my friend

I am in West Texas so we will be 100 degrees for most of the summer! Thank you 🙏 for the kind words. I appreciate your support
Whom ever owns that property needs to maintain it
It’s actually a weird situation. The city technically owns it but there is a code that apparently saves tax payer dollars and requires the homeowner to maintain 6 feet out past the property line. Basically the city owns it but the homeowner on the other side of the fence is responsible for it
I am going to vote for my local, Midlothian Labour (track record is everything,) MP, whenever I listen to the good Peer I do think twice.
Thanks 🙏 for watching and leaving a comment. I appreciate that
The tall grass was an obstacle, to be sure, but the big plants between the sidewalk and the fence were worse and much more work to deal with.
They definitely were the biggest part of making this sidewalk unusable, and luckily I had my hedge trimmers with me to cut them down. Thanks 🙏 for watching
you’re one awesome person ❤😇✝️🙏💕🥰
Thank you 🙏
Awesome job sir. You went above and beyond. Question: Why was the city or municipality not doing this work?
Thank you 🙏 and to answer your question I do believe they should have stepped in before it got this bad, but there is a city code that states the homeowner (on the other side of the fence) is responsible for maintaining the alley and in this case the part next to the sidewalk out 6 feet from the property line. So basically the city is saying it’s the homeowners responsibility to do it
Sir you did a great job. Went way above and beyond. @@DereksLawnRescue

That close to a busy road.... wear hi-vis orange. Their defense: "I didn't see him."...
I definitely bought a hi-vis safety vest 🦺 after this! Thanks 🙏 for watching
Dang! Those cars are hauling ass down that street
Yeah it’s a very busy road and they don’t slow down unless a cop sits there and is scanning with a radar. Thanks 🙏 for watching and leaving a comment
Good one rag weed. Where are you located? New Mexico ?
Close! I am in West Texas
Looks like the street is city / county line....across the street looks beautiful and perfectly manicured 😅.
Unfortunately where I live there is a city code 📝 that states the homeowner on the other side of the fence is responsible for maintaining the area in the alley (and in this case by the sidewalk) 6 feet past the property line. On the other side it’s easily 30 feet from the fence to the street so the city does take care of that. I do think for safety reasons they should have seen it and fixed it. Thanks 🙏 for watching though I appreciate that
I would send a bill to the "powers that be". They should be responsible for keeping that clear.
I agree that they should keep it safe for people to use because walking in a busy street is obviously not safe. Thanks 🙏 for watching
You finally got gloves! Make sure you stay hydrated cause if it’s over 100 one water break isn’t enough
I did take more than one water break thats for sure!
Wow that's so dangerous, you probably saved somebody's life by fixing this!

That was a bit scary at times traffic wise.
Do yourself a favor. When using blower wear mask.👍🇺🇸
I definitely learned that I need a mask today while filming the next video when I had a gust of wind blow all the dirt back in my face. Thanks 🙏 for watching
Are all the cars going the same speed or are they speeded up
The speed limit in this area is 45mph, but most drivers go 55-60mph. To improve the flow of the video, the entire video was sped up 1.5 times. I do not know how to speed up just myself and not the whole video, so yes the cars do go fast in that area but they do seem to be going a little faster than they actually are
Nice
Thank you 🙏
Nice effort but did you have to pick the most precarious place to clean up? I was worried you would be hit by those fast moving vehicles some times...
I was given an idea to put out cones and I am going to do that going forward for safety. Thanks 🙏 for watching
