- Gina Schock is best known for being the drummer and one of the songwriters of The Go-Go’s, arguably the most successful all-female group in the history of rock music, with hit songs including “Our Lips Are Sealed," “We Got The Beat,” and “Vacation.” She and the band faced overwhelming odds and sexism in an industry that hadn’t quite accepted that women can rock. Through force of will and hard work, The Go-Go’s overcame these obstacles and made their mark on music.
In 2021, Schock and The Go-Go’s took their place amongst other legends in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That same year, Schock published Made In Hollywood, documenting her account of the band and its history.

In 1983 I had a huge crush on Kathy Valentine. I was a college student working a summer job at Houston’s Astroworld. The Go Gos performed one night and after the park closed they were given a private ride on the Texas Cyclone. I was staring at Kathy with adoring eyes in my stupid Astroworld uniform from like 20 feet away. 😂😂😂

My sister bought beauty and the beat. I fell in love with it. Gina Schock inspired me to be a drummer. Im so happy they got in the Hall of fame they soooo deserve it

I was honored to see this performance live. Two years later my wife and I often talk about it, as one of the most special moments in 80s reunions.

After all these years, they can still rock it like they did in the 80s. Belinda Carlisle was a crush of mine in the 80s like so many other boys and men and even today she is still stunning.

A long overdue honor. It was touch and go with Belinda for awhile, her lifestyle was slowly killing her. Glad to see she got her life straightened out.

Way overdue, but so glad it happened in their lifetime! Well deserved! My first vinyl record album I owned was Vacation and my first cassette was Beauty and the Beat. My favorite band when I was little ❤

Found their cassette Beauty and the Beat in the street while walking home from school one day. Took it home and played it. I’ve been a fan ever since. So glad they Finally made it into the Hall.
The Go-Go's deserve to be in the RRHOF as much as anyone. They were pioneers and defined the 80's.

One of the best concerts l ever went to at the Greek theater in Berkeley the opening band was the Blasters who l never heard of but thats ok.l just wanted to see the Go Go's!! Can't believe over forty years ago.Thank you for the good memories.
As a fabulously morose teenager in the 80s too cool for American bands and stricly listend to British new wave, post punk and new romantic, my circle and I tried hard not to like Te Go-Go's but it was impossible! They were a bright light amongst my Sisters of Mercy, The Cure etc. And when I found out they wrote "Our ips Are Sealed" with The Fun Boy Three, they catapulted into alternative cool.

They only had about 5 hits but they were great hits in that era that had so many other great acts and songs.
One of the things that worked against them is that they had a short time in the limelight and only put out three albums during their peak.
Their documentary, think it was on Hulu, was so good. Just an amazing story.

I didn't realize that they never got inducted all these years untill I saw the documentary. But it's about time. There were bands that came out 10-15 years AFTER the Go Go's did and had less if an impact in the world of music and was inducted before them. It's ashame that happened but thank goodness these ladies are still alive to get their just deserts.
There is one more girl group they have not yet to be inducted into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame hopefully in 2024 they will be on talking about the bangles now this girl group needs to be in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame

They were an amazing, fresh, punk band before the music industry watered them (and later solo Belinda) down to bland pop. But wow…they were definitely an inspiration to all girl bands that followed and set a very high bar.
They sound amazing here and BC has new material out and she sounds great. We need a national tour!
