BEST THING EVER was for Skylum to get you to review Neo !!! PERFECT !!! Nobody else can explain Neo like YOU Julia !!! WOW !!! With HUGE gratitude and thanks for you🙏👏👍👌😊
Every time I show my girlfriend one of your videos that I'm using to learn something new with photography, I always get the same response from her: "She's pretty." And I'm like "Yeah but do you see the camera she's holding?! That's an A7IV!"
Stopped buying Luninar when they started launching a new version every other month and forget about the old versions. They should be more responsible for updates in older versions too.
I hope the Neo delay means it's going to be even better. I appreciate any tool that will lighten my load to completion. I enjoy taking pictures, not spending time at my computer. Same with film, I hated time in the dark room. I jumped on Luminar AI as fast as I could. So far so good. Loving what I'm seeing of Neo so far.
I picked up a few Skylum programs with the current Humble bundle - there are only two days left but supports two charities as well and is amazing value! Luminar4 auroraHDR photolemur Luminar AI, and a bunch of packs and LUTS etc … highly recommend if anyone looking at getting them as well
Julia, how often do You use Luminar products in Your commercial portrait work flow? Like out of 100 photos how many would You process with Luminar AI?And in that case do You use it as an editing tool alone for portraits or just as a special function addon after/before LR? Thanks
I have actually imported 400 photos into a single catalog, and I use Luminar AI all the time. I don't use all of the AI features, I just like the layout of the program. Plus I don't have to keep paying Adobe monthly 😂. And I recently did a portrait shoot for someone using this software. I am completely confident in its abilities for doing commercial work.
I've been using it regularly for the past year or so, I have a video called my updated photo editing workflow in my Luminar playlist if you want to watch. I personally use Lightroom to still colour grade my photos but then Luminar to finish off the images with the skin, face and other AI tools.
I also pre-ordered a while back. Your video gets me more excited for its arrival. The dust spot removal tool will come in very handy. Power lines I often incorporate into the composition, leading lines and all, and rarely include them otherwise so not so important. But, still nice!
Yeah I'm so excited for the dust removal tool, I recently got the 200-600 and if I don't keep it squeaky clean literally every time I go to use it I can see dust spots lol
Second that Gurminder !!! She has a special way of teaching and showing in photography, video, and editing that nobody else on the planet can match. Thank you 🙂
Hi Julia, I love all your videos... Question - what is the difference between lightroom and slylum? can i get the same or similar look with lightroom? thank you
Great video! You got some nice results with the power line removal tool. I preordered early as an "Insider" and got it for $34, which is a great deal. I have a copy now and am playing with it. I have a lighthouse photo taken in extreme weather that I need to dry the spot removal tool on because of the water spots on the lens, Overall, I'm happy with it so far, but I will say the speed is really an issue with the current pre-release engine, which is supposed to be faster than Luminar AI but not as fast as the release model; honestly, the pre-release model engine is lacking in speed as bit. You touched on a lot of the best aspects of this software, and I am really stoked to get it to work. It's an amazing piece of tech already and I can't wait for release with all the things it will include!
I use Lightroom and Photoshop. I own Luminar Ai and have used it for quick web images. I’ve also pre ordered Neo. What’s your thoughts on the new Ai software that’s been introduced? Would you yourself use it for professional work for clients or maybe just for images going on Instagram, Facebook etc?
I love the new AI tools, I'm all for any tools that will help save time editing. I already integrated Luminar AI into my workflow with Lightroom, I have that video up on my channel if you wanted to see! It's called my updated photo editing workflow, it's in my Luminar playlist. This is how I've been editing most personal and client work for the past year or so
Hi Julia I was wondering are you now still use to edit your photos with luminar Neo ? Because I don’t know what to choose Lightroom or Neo , ps. I have a lot of presets in Lightroom from u and other creators and don’t what to lose them because seems I can not transfer my presets to Neo .
Hi Julia, I’ve recently found your RUclips channel and been watching your videos so much!!! Since then I’ve been encouraged to try my dad’s Sony 7aiii and now I’m buying one of my own (switching from my cannon)! I have so many questions but you seem to be answering a ton of them! My current question is, do you use any filters on your Sony prime lenses?
Ah that's so fun! I only use UV filters to protect my lenses especially at weddings when I have them hanging by my sides on holdfast straps. But it doesn't affect the look of the image. I also use ND filters when filming video.
I too have this pre-release version of Neo (updated just now). But it does not allow me to import single photos. I can only import folders. How did you manage to import single photos, because that would be my preference? Thanks.
While it’s not exactly Canon, I’ve done a photoshoot video which is up on my channel with a tilt shift lens! I was using the Samyang 24mm TS. And agree would be cool to see Sony release one
Hi! Remove Powerlines tool automatically analyzes your image and then removes power lines in a single click. But you can manually remove unwanted objects from your image using the Erase tool:)
Yeah its so satisfying seeing how it works. The powerline removal only removes powerlines, so it won't remove poles for example. But like I showed in the video if you wanted to remove any extra things you can use the erase tool - like the cable car I decided to get rid of lol
Thanks! At the moment with this demo version of the software I only have access to these 3 new features that I shared in the video. As they finish with the software they will also add: New engine + AI Masking, layers, Background Removal AI, overlays and sharing capabilities straight from the app.
Thank you! I use my LUTs that I've made for video, they're on my Digital Film Actions website. I still need to add some more in such as the New York LUT I used in this video!
Quick question, I saw that you were doing self portraits on IG today…. I’ve been working on self portraits all weekend and I can’t get my camera to focus on me.. it’s becoming so frustrating… using Nikon z6 with s 50mm lens … what am I doing wrong 😑
That's a hard one to answer, because every company has their own app that works in different ways and even with Sony, there is one app but it also works differently depending what camera you're using. On the A7III, it was difficult to take self portraits as it doesn't continuously focus on the subject through the app - but now with the A7IV it does, which is what inspired me to take some self portraits haha. I did some self portraits with the Nikon Z5 (I have the video on my channel here) and the app was really good. I had eye AF on and changed it to continuous focus, it would focus right as the shutter went off with a 5 second countdown.
Enjoyed your video, I bought Luminar Neo yesterday and originally felt it was very much like a toy but after persevering last night got some quite usable results. The only thing I found was that in trying to use the re- light tool on a model standing in front of a lake with mountains in the background, I was actually trying to reduce the amount of light on the model as she was lit with a soft box and strobe but I couldn’t get any of the controls to respond with anything like the effectiveness that you are managing in the video which is interesting/weird.
I really love luminar ai but working on raw files from a7r iii is terrible (non stop crashes and slowdowns) It's because it uses cpu instead of gpu. Can anyone confirm the neo version is remade for gpu oriented usage?
@@unbornharbor I don't think Intel i7 8700 is a slow cpu 🙂. Besides Photoshop, premiere or lightroom work perfect. You don't always have to adjust everything and everyone to your point of view.

Awesome video, Julia Trotti; very clear explanation and demo; I think removing power lines worked really well !!
I've already pre-ordered a while ago and really looking for to its release. It looks awesome too, some great features.

Very cool and great video
Merry Christmas to you and your family ⛄🎄😊
Thank you Sunit 🙂ALL of us on the GLOBE wish her and family Merry Christmas !!!

Yes, I said that in the first 10 seconds of the video
I guess if you thought it out ahead of time you would use an off camera flash instead of a software fix.
