Man, what a gift you’re giving yourself and all the rest of us with your transparency, honesty, and commitment. Sending so much appreciation, encouragement and fondness your way.
@@KAHPUFLOWThanks so much! Honestly, though the details are a bit different, I’m in a similar position to your own. I’ve had some major illness the last several years that impacted every aspect of my life, and training ground to a halt for a while. When I began to resume my practice in 2023 I started to build some momentum and then ruptured two discs in my upper lumbar spine and fully herniated the disc at l5-s1, and I couldn’t even stand without a walker. Most of 2024 has been just trying to build basic living ability back, like walking and standing unsupported, putting my shoes on and tying them. I’m only in the last few weeks been able to get in and out of a squat position, bend forward at the hips (even with knees bent), and, just this past week, I got a bit of a ginga back! I still deal with a lot of pain but the neuropathy is under better control and it continues to improve. At this point, I’m just starting to really feel like my body and I are getting back on the same page and have some hope that I might one day move as well as I once did. I have struggled at times these last few years with feeling like capoeira will no longer be part of my life. But I remembered not long ago something my teacher once told me: “Owen, I don’t think you chose capoeira. Capoeira chose you.” And I’ve just in the last few days realized that all that I’ve been going through and all that I’ve been working on /is/ capoeira - it’s just what capoeira looks like right now. This realization has helped me greatly, and I’m finally starting to feel the sway in my spirit again. Merry Christmas to you.
Feeling lost or everything. Reminds me of the state of Dasein, like being in the state of meditation- state of consciousness and engagement with the world. Thank you for sharing. 🫡
Thakns for your comment Familia. Yes, well, I feel I am in the meditative state when I play. Capoeira, poetry, or just connect with my breathing, with nature. This is when everything just is. How is your training and life going?
@ Thank you for asking. I’m trying to balance training and life. I know what I want to achieve with training but because of life, the time to achieve my goals will take longer. I am glad that my family trains with me too, so I use that time to train and bond with my kids.

@@familiacapoerista thats amazing indeed; that you practice together with your family. I play and train with my son, but really capoeira, martial arts, and sports in general. Great to read that you have goals, and take your time for it. Enjoy the process man, thats it!
Thank you for sharing. I deeply sympathize with your feelings of being isolated and lost.
@@jesseschwartz6518 thanks for your comment Jesse. Yes, well, I thought, let’s share some real stuff ;-)
