  • Hello Beautiful People!
    Today's video is all about how I tested my wooden wicks to get the perfect flame, full melt pool, slow burn and AMAZING hot throw! Hopefully there are some tips within this video that can help you choose the best wick for your candle. There will be a part 2 with wooden wick facts! I didn't want to make this video too long.
    Quick Tip: Please keep an open mind when choosing suppliers. I have to switch things up because one supplier may be sold out of the ingredient or supply that I need. So, do your research. I have chosen the suppliers that work best for my brand and business needs. I check for quality and efficacy to ensure I am using the BEST ingredients and materials to create my candles.

    I love these vessels, I'm testing them now. the .625 is a perfect fit for me as well. Im still deciding if I want to go with booster wick .03 or .04 with the .625 size. As for the booster wick size (.02) does the size in number mean that it burns hotter? like does the .04 wicks burn faster and hotter than the .02 wick series? This is what I'm trying to understand, thank you for any advice you can share!

    • @ParisNikkole
      @ParisNikkole  3 года назад

      Thanks so much! ❤️ So, depending on your wax blend, fragrance, and dye load, as well as the diameter of your candle, sometimes a Single-Ply Wick is not enough wick material for a proper burn. Booster wicks are created when attaching two or more wicks together with a thin layer of non-toxic adhesive, making a single layered wick to help with performance.

    Thank you so much for these videos. You are most helpful!! I’m using the same vessel and .625 on virgin coconut soy wax. Do you have any question on how to make the vessel not get black soot on the sides? When I use less FO it loses its cold throw.

    • @ParisNikkole
      @ParisNikkole  2 года назад +1

      Let me just say you are fierce! 🙌🏾 I just watched your fearless video and I love it! Now for the candle question! lol! It may be that you haven't cut your wick down to that 1/4" that is suggested. A longer wick produces a larger and hotter flame, which causes the surrounding candle wax to melt faster and give the flame more fuel. The increased fuel means wax is drawn into the wick faster than it can burn and react with oxygen in the air, resulting in incomplete combustion. Then the extra wax is released as soot. OR When extinguishing your candle, you are not using a cap or snuffer and blowing it out which will release a tuft of soot-containing smoke and leave you with a smoldering wick which continues to produce soot and smoke. Hope this helps!

    Hi! I am still in my testing phase for the same jar! Do you use the same wick size for each of your scents? Or did you find yourself having to use different sizes for different scents?

    • @ParisNikkole
      @ParisNikkole  3 года назад +3

      Hi Deb! It has worked out for me to keep the wick size consistent for all of my scents. I have tried using a larger wick and I don't like how fast it tends to burn and the black soot it creates. With the smaller wick it burns slow and clean. Some of my scents burn slower than others which is fine because you still get the same hot throw, it is just a longer burn time than others due to each scent having different flash points.

  • @MyLuvJones
    @MyLuvJones 3 года назад +1

    Thanks for this video. How do you determine how much burn time a candle has? Are you literally burning on and off for that amount of time or are u using some sort of calculation based on how well it burns for a specific timeframe?

    • @ParisNikkole

      Testing is key! I tested single and double wicks for all jars. The general rule is candles with a diameter of 4" or larger may need a double wick. The jars I use are generally 3.5” and I have singe wicked them with wooden wicks and double wicked them with cotton wicks.

    My wooden wicks never stay lit I tried 3 different sizes with para-soy wax ☹️

      Oh my! Not sure why that is happening. I don't use para soy wax so I wouldn't be much help there. I would say try coconut wax. It works really well with wooden wicks. Good Luck! ❤️

    Could you do a video ways to price your candles at a high price 45.00 vs low like 15.00? Is there anything we should consider when it come to the amount

    • @ParisNikkole
      @ParisNikkole  3 года назад

      Absolutely! I will do a video on pricing. However, it all comes down to cost of materials and profit margins. So take everything that you use to make 1 candle and break down the cost. You can also include shipping in that cost if you have an idea of how much that will cost you. But, no worries, I will show how to come up with pricing in my video. Thanks for watching! ❤️
