The playable Bowser is so much smaller than the CPU Bowser that Mario fights. I like to think that the smaller one is actually Bowser Jr all grown up, and he’s chasing Mario around the castle to try helping his dad 😁

This is one of the best examples of asymmetric gameplay I’ve ever seen
When i was a kid I had a much darker sinister nightmare about this where it was bowser chasing me throughout the castle just peeking through hallways to kill me. Bowsers laugh when you enter the castke is probably the reason i had these eerie feelings

I was imagining an NPC Bowser being added to every area that’s constantly headed towards your location, and with no bombs, it’d be impossible to kill him outside of his boss fight.
This feels like a Typical Saturday Morning Cartoon, where the Hero outsmarts the Villain and the results always blows up in the villains Face as a result!

Bowser was arguing with Mario in the postgame, saying he could have just caught him at any point while he was doing every stage. Mario, wanting to have some fun, challenged him to chase him and defeat him before he can gather enough stars to once again obtain the last power star.

One of my childhood fears of this game realized. I was certain Bowser was there. Waiting. Watching. Watching. Waiting. Just like that Boo in the hall. I was so scared of it I would go out of my way to avoid that hallway, and when I did have to go into it I would bend over backwards moving in such a way the camera didn't look down the hallway to the courtyard.
