I’m not doing his sock KAL but I’m happy you’re doing these episodes and happy to watch along with your progress. Thanks for sharing 😊

Nice job on the socks. I’m not doing the KAL, just experiencing it through your videos.

i finished my second cuff on Tuesday (after restarting because of the size issue), I think it is the closest to on time I have ever been to on time with a west knit along. :) Your socks look great!

Thank you! We got lucky that this was a smaller clue. Much more manageable. Also nice when you don’t get nearly finished and realize it’s too small and have to start over.

I saw the video and decided to wait to see if I want to make these till I see a finished sock.

I think it’s a very cool design but definitely limits you to what kind of shoe you could wear them with, and that’s only what I know so far. I have no doubt there will be more surprises. I was really shocked to have to go up two needle sizes to make it work but now I’m fully committed.

I know I will have the same issue as you did at the start if I were to begin knitting on my usual 2.25mm (US size 1) DPNs. This is no normal sock. I am now persuaded I need to also start at 2.75mm (US size 2), so you have saved me an enormous amount of time. Your knitting is beautifully even. I am actually amazed at the inherent size difference of the fabric in just this small area alone. Two questions: what was your best tip for keeping the selvedge stitches looser and did you have any tips for how to best work the two-color I-cord so it comes out so even-looking?

I’m so glad I could save you the heartache of finding your project too small and having to start over again. For the edge stitches I just made a conscious effort to not pull on the first and second stitches tight. You can also do a yarn over after the first stitch and then on the next pass drop the yarn over, this will loosen it up for you without having to alter your tension. For the icord just make sure not to pull too hard. Also, when you’re switching back to the other color give it a tug to make the last stitch of that color the same size as your other stitches. I found that mine got really loose and if I hadn’t done this it would have been a mess. I hope that helps! Happy knitting 🥰

@@shaunastitches Did you need to take the extra step of the yarn over after the selvedge stitch (and before the other edge selvedge stitch?) or were you able to keep your edges sufficiently loose by just consciously not pulling too tight on the first two (and last two?) stitches as you worked them?

@andreamiller6200 I did not to the yarn overs, I just kept a loose tension on the first two stitches of every row.

I've only done one welt so far and ever since your Instagram post I've been worried about weather mine will fit since I have some seriously muscular calfs....

I hope you have better luck than me on the first go around. It’s a fairly easy knit so if you have to start over it’s not terrible but it is disappointing.
