Thanx a bunch. It became loose. Then it got stuck on heat. Took it to Auto Nation whom I bought it from & have warranty with & they refused to help me. So thanx to you.... I fixed it!!!
THANK YOU!!!!! You are a God Send!!!! I just now broke mine and I think my blood pressure sky rocketed and I nearly died.....lol....NOW I can save myself a TON of money!!!!!
Great DIY! My 2014’s center knob light went out, and eventually the whole knob became loose and is now at risk of completely falling in. Thanks for the video!
I actually figured out on my own how to pull the parts out, and then I was able to figure out that the problem was the prongs that fit into those clips had broken. However, I have a friend who is very good with cars, and I asked him --- before I even saw your video --- if he thought I could glue it, and he said that glue doesn't work on those plastics. But then I discovered your video here suggesting to glue it. Do you know whether the glue lasts over the long term? Also, is is possible to buy that white plastic part that the prongs broke off of? If so, what would you call that part? What's the name of it?
Same issue... downside is my leftmost knob is also jammed and broken...the outer ring... so my A/C is stuck blowing on my feet, windshield and side vents. So I get cold hands, feet and a foggy window while driving in the humidity here.
I rarely touch my climate control switches, if it's a really cold day I usually turn the heat on for 5 minutes. Then turn it off, because it uses power from the alternator which can shorten the lifespan, leaving you stranded.
Now you can't take it off. My Scion had a bunch of Micky mouse fixes by the previous owner too. Just fix it correctly and don't pass down the problem to the next owner.
His wife has had the car for 8 years at the time of this recording. Why would he want to take it off now? What could the wife possible want to replace it with?
Why would you think your car is for the next owner? Did you not purchase your vehicle with the intent to own? It’s a Scion xD, not an AMG, relax, I think if you are having that hard of a time with an Xd who is really to blame.
The glue trick didn’t work for me. I used a block of styrofoam to put behind the knob, closed it all up and it keeps it in place and I can still adjust the knob
Bro. You literally saved me a few hundred in mechanic expenses. This took me no more than 15 min to fix.
Thanks!!!
I kneed this knob in today trying to crawl out my passenger door from a tight parking spot. Thank you for posting the fix! 🙏🏽
That’s exactly what I did lmao

Thank you! It’s 2022 and just fixed this problem on my wife’s car.

Thanks! Same Issue: Fixed it in 10 minutes... and didn't BREAK anything! :)

Thank you this happened to my car an I've been scared to take the plastic off without breaking another clip!
Glad this helps!
Genius! Saved me $150. Thank you!!!
Thanks man, this was a lifesaver. I thought it was going to be a ton of work getting that console open.
Awesome, thank you. Fix took less than 5 minutes.
"something happened with this thing". for some reason i laughed for a minute straight at this, thank you
Thank you very much, this repair was so easy due to your video👍
glue. good idea. But why do we all have broken temp control knobs??
Thanks this video saved me $450! Gracias
I need to change the bulb that illuminates the levels of the center knob. How do i do it?

Don't do this without disconnecting the battery. You could set off an airbag light on your dash
With the two pieces you removed, can I have access to disconnect the cigarette lighter?
Thank you sir! Cheers!
Can you show me where the a/c acuator climate control is on a 2015 scion xb
Just happened to my sister's Rav 4. Toyota should have a recall.

I said the same thing, haha
This worked perfectly!! RUclips University for the win!!
thank you so much
Thank you. Fixed mine!
Mine too, scion xb 2008

Will this method work for a Scion tC 2014?
Way to jerryrig something so the next owner gets screwed trying to replace the part and fix it correctly. Lazy.
