Finally I found a video on changing the MANUAL transmission fluid. Thank you so much I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do this but this gave me confidence. I have a 3rd gear grind when the engine is cold. I purchase the same fluid you used which claims it helps with shifts in cold temperatures. I hope it helps. Thank you very much!
Interesting...we no longer own our xD but ours also developed an occasional grind going into 3rd gear. Maybe there's a design defect in the 5-speed...I know they had one in the 5-speed used in the Matrix...
Thanks for the video, it was very insightful. What size clear tubing did you use and how long? I have a 2006 Scion Xa with 226,000 miles on her and plan on changing the fluid as well. Its been a great car, very reliable and does 100 miles a day as my commuter car.
It's 3/8" ID, 1/2" OD. Not sure how long it is but I've used it to fill the transmissions on all three of my cars. On one car I mounted the funnel on top of a ladder to take up the slack
Remove the fill plug on the side of the transaxle, stick your finger in there, and feel around for the fluid...the fluid level should be even with or slightly below the hole. If you bend your finger downwards and can't feel any fluid, your level is low

@@chrisfreemesser5707 Thank you for the reply sir! You've been a great help.
Doesn’t it take 2.5 quarts of fluid though?
Is there a way to check fluid levels ?

@@chrisfreemesser5707 thank you sir
Also that’s a shit ton of dust and dirt on your funnel. Maybe wipe that clean before you put fluid through that.
xD
