No disrepect to the Schenker era but im still boggled as to why Paul never got the total 100% recognition he deserved while his time in UFO. Every Album these guys made from 1980 to Making Contact rocked. Paul has his sound as did Schenker and it was his cool signature that keeps me going back to those 4 albums time and time again and they sound as good now as they did then. 4 classics with UFO Thats something to be proud of Tonka!!
That great uplifting ballad is the song 'You and Me' it's a story of love conquering all. I agree with you that this album was magic, It had the edge that was missing from the previous album Mechanix.
Your dad was one of the most overlooked/under-respected guitarists in ufo...his history with ufo was amazing (and don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Schenker fan). I thought that the song writing with him was the best they ever did...I pull out the albums with him as often as I do any...and I own all of them...also the Waysted era with him was amazing!
Hey Liltonka...just want you to know..your dad is a legend in my eyes. Saw him with UFO countless times..he was an inspiration to me. Its no accident that when he was with UFO the songs were far better structured. Tell him i sing 'Lettin Go' better than Phil as well LOL :)
Thank you VERY much for uploading this. This is one of my favourite UFO songs. A better quality of this used to be up here years ago, but is gone now. Do you have it in better quality? If not, it doesn't matter, just glad someone uploaded this again. Much, much appretiated.
I just viewed the new Ufo Dvd talking about the history of the band and Malcolm Dome from the mag Kerrang ripping on the Chapman UFO years as do so many other critics and again I dont get it. The songs on Mechanix for instance rock I mean crank up "We Belong to the Night" on a kick ass unit and tell me this song along with "Dreaming" doesnt totally rock. My only complaint about some of the Chapman era stuff is there should have been more tunes on some of the recording to short ends way to fast!!
great band...best 80's records the wild, the willing and the innocent & mechanix...phil mogg looks like the mother on the 70's tv show...one day at a time...in this video. blinded by a lie is a great cut, but..the MAKING CONTACT cd..overall..is only average.
Great band, too bad they were drunk most of the time and ruined a lot of the shows from not playing very well on tour. Other then that they were amazing, great songs. I just wish they would have not been so stoned and drunk cause you can here that drag, and sloppiness in their playing.
The chapman era is every bit as classic as the schenker stuff imop. In fact it stands out even more as it remains classic rock at a time when everything was shifting to cheesy metal (even msg to an extent). But this is far from the best stuff from that era, I think this album was a huge fall off from the previous three.
Nothing against Vinnie Moore, he's a virtuoso player and all ...but his style is too neoclassical shredder type; I don't like his feel yeah Paul Chapman was a better fit because he had that raw soulful hard rocking feel. But in terms of chops Moore sort of blows the doors off chapman..for what that's worth.

This is very cool. They never toured America in '83. So This is good enough for me!! Thanks!!
Great to see this, thanks. There's more Tonka stuff out there than imagined. This band always had class, and still do.

Billy Sheehan on bass....the only guy who could replace Pete Way.
