What do you all think about these changes? We've been max level/max upgrades for a while, already running the Railgun on Unsafe mode, and experimenting with a variety of different loadout combinations. These changes however feel a bit heavy handed/one-sided given the current options available, so we're eager to hear your opinions.
What's even worse is the response on discord, the devs were flat out condescending about feedback. Example: Evil-Bosse: And I am out of here, git gud, play easiest if you want to win, send a ticket and complain and HR might have a meeting with me :D I'm putting this game in the discard pile for quite a while.
It hasn't even been 1 MONTH since release. I feel like most people should quiet down and just keep playing and enjoying the game. It's not "one sided" or "heavy handed"....IT'S A BRAND NEW GAME lol Don't really understand the point of even maxing out a character so early into a games release to begin with lol, just more time to go farming or something?
I found the changes absurd and like you said players will always find another meta to use they should have made the other main weapons more interesting but instead they take the road of least resistance and nerf things if they keep going that route the game is gonna be a bore chore to play like every weapon that you unlock aint worth it because there so annoying to use.
The railgun change hardly changes anything for anyone using the gun correctly so that's not even a nerf. The shield nerf and the breaker nerfs were needed and hell the breaker's nerf is not that bad either. The laser cannon upgrade is actually massive and easily makes it a solid choice up with the arc thrower and railgun. The slugger and spray and prey upgrades are very noticeable and great choices now. Flame thrower is also very decent on bugs now as well.
Decreasing the spread on the bombardment is s huge buff. 9 out of 10 times it would hit ZERO enemies or buildings, and hit you amd you teammates a kilometer away from the target point.
100%. Everyone gave up using it because it had such a wide area. It would kill, teammates, or yourself, and do almost no damage unless you got really lucky.
Great. Now it hits some enemies sometimes. Wow. Such amazing strategems when I can use an Airstrike to actually hit what I want, and use 3 of them back-to-back in 8 second intervals. They are still not worth using.
yep, since iI started playing I said "I want to be dropping those 320"... after some plays with it droped as it was a disaster ahahaha, zero damage, 100% backfired.
Wish that had a armor pen buff at ranged. Like med at close to mid range and heavy at mid to long range. And just let the anti material sniper brake heavy armor with 2 shots at any range
They're just kind of inherently bad for how this game flows, and the kind of mechanics it has. They're supposed to be good at hitting weak points, but the weapon sway and the jittery walking animations of the enemies against whom this is most relevant make it very difficult to do consistently. You can sit still to mitigate the weapon sway, but sitting still makes you an easy target, and whenever you get hit without a shield, the aim flinch is insane in this game. They also can't kite effectively, which is an absolutely unavoidable tactic on higher difficulties.
@@BackwardsPancake the stealth mechanic is very advanced and I’ve done sniping before. With a Rover, turret or the rader. U can sniper pretty far and avoid patrols and just relocate with a smoke or wipe out any near by patrols. Bushes and going prone make it easier to hide too
DMR’s are fine, you can 2 shot all but 2 enemy types from the robot side which is great. If your trying to use a DMR to clear hordes of bugs from your feet I’m afraid that’s a user error.
One thing I've noticed is that the game tends to reward speedy gameplay. The mix of primary and secondary objectives, plus outposts and POIs, means you need to be quick to get the most out of your 40 minutes. This usually means splitting up into teams, which means each player needs some measure of versatility to make an effective 2-man team. These changes make it harder to do that, and I hate the idea that gathering samples and other POI resources to become a rare luxury that most teams will skip in 7+ difficulties. I'd much rather of had a "How can we improve these unused weapons?" approach over a "How can we stop people from using these weapons?" method of balancing.
Or its design is with the upcoming mechs + recon vehicles in mind .Thats why it seems fast and rushed now but later on when we get our toys it will be normale pace
@@fluxx7217 that be odd, id ideally add vehicles 1st before that. i guess they gotta make way for players to entice towards the business model of the game
Maybe make it so that medium armor penetration weapons can “eventually” get though heavy armor? Nerfing the rail gun didn’t make needing to get though heavy armor go away, it just takes away one more option.
It’s like you expect the game to get easier the higher the difficulty. You want to go visit every POI? Go on a lower difficulty. Weapons not enough? Call in the 200,000 tons of explosives you have available in low orbit. Balance update take your “meta” away? Maybe don’t have a strict meta, but a flexible loadout you change to have… (and I know this may be hard) …*FUN* I can’t understand those who whine that their “powerful, favorite” weapon got a slight nerf that made it “unplayable”. I’ve used the railgun. I preferred unsafe mode against armor. Sounds like it’s a skill issue that you aren’t willing to fix. Coming from someone who didn’t enjoy the ease of using the Breaker, or Railgun. I didn’t even use the shield back pack. I use the Diligence Counter. Literally useless in most occasions, but my favorite primary, because it’s *fun* to play with. Not because it ends everything I look at.
This patch just greatly increased the difficulty on higher difficulties, Suicide to Helldive. The Railgun nerf had a huge impact. There are so many enemies swarming you thwt you need to take out chargers and titans in a quick and efficient way, which is not possible anymore and the stratagems dont help much tbh with very long recharge times. Switched to the autocannon which is ok for chargers but does shit against titans. Frustrating when you empty two magazines of autocannon on an already damaged titan and it still does not go down. And doing this while being swarmed with smaller enemies is really frustrating and not challenging in a fun way
Sad when you drop an autocanon and the 5 charger and 2 titans just destroy it in one swoop while you get charged by 30 little hunter and 2 big You cant reload, you cant run, you cant jump away Since the update i only could rage bout this game and quit after the first mission. If it dosnt get back to balance again i will in my opinion uninstall this game
I wanna see the devs play on hell diver difficulty with their 'favourite' loadouts. Because their mentality of using stratagems for the chargers/bile titans only works on the lower difficulties, because levels 8/9 usually have a stratagem nerf to them and you get swarmed with the big mobs.
so damn true on difs like helldive your constantly swarmed by them and when the stratagems have double the cooldown and 50% longer call in not only are they harder to hit but they barely help cause you cant call them in often enough We didnt use things like the breaker and railgun because they trivialised things we used it because without them helldiver would be almost impossible
@@Tainted_Delusion not only would it be very difficult, it's just unfun. The rail gun is satisfying to use. I like it. It feels good to actually be able to put up some kind of a fight, especially when you have five or more chargers and four bile titans running at you. The stratagem idea just really doesn't work.
@@Klyptic i like stratagems being your ace in the hole that can be devistating but you cant use often however rn they are just glorified bile titan and charger weapons that can be painfully long to charge and use when certian modifiers in play. They dont feel like air support really they just feel like slightly more powerful rocket launchers
This, game feels like is missing tools for difficulties, they leaning to go with nerfs instead, is a little bit tone deaf, what's there to reliably deal with armored enemies? nothing, I mean, running the railgun in unsafe mode, but, is, unsafe and now takes way more shots, at least, give us options. Primaries? most are trash, I agree a lot with the video arguments.
As a casual who plays with 3 other casual bros (all in our 30s, some with families), this patch broke the game for us. We were playing on difficulty 5/6 and now we can't play past medium. We are only level 17-25, but they have made it impossible for us to get rare samples now. We probably won't play at all this week, we quit early last night.
Yep between crashes and totally fair bug headshots it was a total kick in the nuts. And none of use used anything meta except the auto shotgun but that was my personal preference.
Same shit. I play with three of my friends (late 20s) and my brother and his two friends (late 30s), and in the last couple of days after the patch, something feels off. The defense missions have become unplayable; the extreme difficulty before the patch was challenging but manageable with the right gear, now it's chaotic. The enemies spawn so quickly that they end up in the center of the map doing nothing. This applies to both the bugs and the automaton missions. I don't really mind the buffs and nerfs. It's a difficult balance to get right on the first try. However, with this patch, a lot of new bugs were introduced too. Yesterday marked two days in a row where I was kicked out of a match with said friend without warning. In one instance, we ended up divided into two separate matches without being able to communicate with the other in the same match. When we attempted to join the other match, the sky became pixellated and we weren't able to join two times. It's the first time since release that we've quit early. Additionally, the performance on PC is inconsistent. I'm really sad because I didn't enjoy playing with my friends this much since forever.
Same, I would run Suicide mission with randos no problem as long as I was focused on the game, now I'm having to play on low/med resource levels cause every game I go into half the team leaves in 10-15mins in. On top of that I've had my character bug out hard in cross play matches, twice where I couldn't draw my weapon even after dying. They seriously broke the game with this patch.
People saying this really need to read the blog post about why each change was made. A lot of thought went into it, and this is just the first round. They’ll be balancing forever.
the problem with the balance is that the things that got nerfed were some of the only things that could allow people to keep up in higher difficulties as most of the weapons and stratagems just arent up to scratch most primarys just dont have enough power behind them to deal with any decent amount of enemies, support weapons lack armor penetration other than the rocket launchers and its really difficult to survive without the shield generator because half of the terminids slow you on hit making you just get dogpilled its not that the meta was super op it was just the rest of the options werent good enough in any serious level of difficulty One of the biggest examples is that the anti material rifle and autocannon despite obviously being framed as armor piercing weapons cant even damage a bile titan or charger
@@Enjgine Airstrike can kill charger, airstrike drops sizable bombs that damage armor. Might not OHKO like orbital rail but not everything in the game needs to be capable of 0'ing a target from full HP.
People were soloing Helldivers specifically because railgun trivialized armor on safe mode. People were even one-hitting Titans. It was flat broke. Rail became a crutch because you could punch through the armor in 1-2 shots. Autocannon can absolutely damage a bile titan, aim for joints where the legs meet the body or the belly. You don't NEED heavy armor pen to kill enemies that have heavy armor, you just aim for spots without the armor. AMR can do full damage to charger belly and is capable of OHKO on Hulks/Doms.
@@GeneisHavoc That was a crossplay bug when the host was PS5, the railgun otherwise cannot one shot bile titans and never could. The railgun also wasn't a crutch or trivialized gameplay, it was simply the only reliable answer players had to 7 heavy armored chargers and 4 heavy armored bile titans running your way. Arrowhead in their infinite genius though decided to rob the player base of their only tool to deal with multiple heavily armored enemies rather than fixing their broken enemy spawn system or buffing their other utter dogshit support weapons.
@@synnical77 i think the devs need to look into how enemies are spawn right now...when you want to stealth and enemies just pop in unannounce right front of you, blocking your way...then you have a recipe of "chargers / bile titan spam"

My biggest problem with the game rn is that there’s many enemies like the charge who you just can’t deal with unless you bring weapons like the railgun.
i’m playing on helldive difficulty and for me this is a good update, it’s not meant to be played solo and the devs want players to coordinate with each other. finishing a helldive operation feels more satisfying now. helldive difficulty is supposed to be the hardest difficulty, and before this patch railgun makes it a walk in the park
Dude you are the one that should be playing on medium difficulty. The game on the hardest difficulty is meant to be insanely difficult. Its above the difficulty literally named suicide. Go play your My Little Pony game if you are too scared and frustrated by serving democracy.
If I nail a hulk in the eye with an anti-material rifle, it should die in on shot instead of two. I would love to see more changes like that, armor is SOOOO oppressive in this game that we need more ways to deal with it. I'm 100% down with a railgun nerf....if everything else wasn't so useless.
I agree on the armor. We need more options to penetrate armor. I remember being so disappointed when I first used a railcannon and it's bullets bounce off a charger.
it's worth noting that currently the Recoil increase to the Breaker shotgun only applies to it being fired in third-person view. If you fire the weapon in First-Person view the recoil is the same as before the change.
Pity if you play on PC with aiming set to toggle😢 because you cannot switch to ADS. They didnt fix this bug yet. My hand cramps if I have ainming on hold so I need to use toggle aim.
There mission is some niche super hardcore game. Unfortunately for them, there is not a large playerbase for that type of game. They are catering to a tiny margin of people who bought the game. At this rate you are going to see this game with like 5k players in a few months, and everyone will have forgotten about it.
Absolutely, I share your frustration! The latest update to Helldivers 2 has stirred up quite the storm. It feels like one minute you're on this exhilarating journey, making headway, feeling genuinely proud of the progression you're making-each achievement a testament to your growing skills and strategic prowess. The camaraderie of overcoming challenges, the thrill of narrowly escaping defeat, it was all so rewarding. And then, suddenly, the rug gets pulled out from under us with this update. The difficulty spike is not just a challenge; it's a wall. An impassable barrier that doesn't just test your skills but seems to mock the effort you've put in so far. Those valuable resources we've been chasing, the ones that signify our advancement and our accomplishments, now feel like mirages on the horizon-visible but ever out of reach because of the near-impossible difficulty levels. I was there, smiling ear to ear, fully immersed, fully invested. And now? It's like being jolted awake from the best dream to face a harsh reality. It's disheartening to see such a fun, engaging experience turn into a source of frustration. This isn't just a minor hiccup; it's a significant shift that affects the core of our enjoyment and pride in our progression. It's a sad day indeed when an update changes the game from a joyful escapade into a daunting, almost Sisyphean task. Here's hoping the developers listen to our collective outcry and find a way to balance the challenge with the fun and accessibility that drew us to Helldivers 2 in the first place. Until then, we're left reminiscing about the good old days and hoping for a patch that brings back the joy we've lost.
I definitely agree with you, the game is already hard and they need to buff other items. The railgun for example, yes it’s strong but it needs reloading on every shot and it’s difficult to hit shots when you’re getting swarmed by 20 enemies, i dont think a nerf was necessary.
I feel like they changed something with the guard dog. The laser barely fires for me now. Just Flys around like it's lost beside me when there's nothing but enemies around me. Anyone else noticed a drop in activity with the gaurd dog drone?
yes seem like my guard dog just refuse to fire even with enemies right in front of it....not to mention i got chase by bile titan for 3 minutes and guard dog be like "nah you take care of it, im tired today"
@@mikeymishima7167 that’s not overpowered, just decently powered. You need half a clip to injure a charger if you don’t aim it just right and at the right intensity. Still think, with the amount of enemies the game throws at you, they should focus on bettering the useless weapons before nerfing the decent ones.
@@mikeymishima7167 or just use op flamethrower and kill a charger in 7 seconds without aiming. Dont dish on players who aren't as skilled as you. We want to have fun too, and now we are struggling. There was nothing wrong with the railgun. The problem was everything else sucked
Bro how is it possible that me and my friends who are lvl12/15 can deal with 3/4 chargers and you at level 20 can't do it? The game was never supposed to be easy at higher difficulties
I agree with that they should’ve buffed the DMRs. Shotguns weren’t really my preferred primary but it was effective. If more DMRs were viable the later game would be enjoyable as players wouldn’t just default into what everyone else is running.
@robinfox4440 honestly you might be right I normally play with my gf and her brother we do really well but when i play with randoms the game feels harder and wipe often even tho i have one more player
Logged on after the update to play as a solo player, did a elimination mission on challenging as usual. It was absolutely impossible considering the shield nerf and the increased spawns. I don't see myself touching this game again until they either undo those changes or give me an actual viable option in terms of weapons.
Imagine that you regularly dine at a restaurant because of one particular dish on the menu, while finding the other dishes to be subpar. The owner wants you to try the other dishes, so instead of improving them, they tamper with your favorite dish. You would likely seek out another restaurant in response.
That's a ridiculous analogy and you know it. For an equally ridiculous analogy, imagine a gun so good that you fired once and the mission ended with 100% completion, would you nerf it? So many overreactions, try something new!
@@Goldie749 was it the case before the update? have you tried the difficulty 7 and above after the update? Massive hordes and nothing to stop it. The game wasn't easy before, there were only a few options viable to do it, now there is none.
@APetersenPeter yes, I've got 3 of my ship modules to level 3, I normally sit around level 7 or 8. Sure it gets busy and im not saying its easy, you're on the hardest difficulties, but with 4 players who are communicating and a good mixture of stratagems and support weapons I don't find them unbeatable.
This is a very good point that all live service games need to adapt, don’t force us to switch metas but make more viable increases the variety of options
you realize the games only been up for like 28 days, right? lol and I absolutely love that it appears Arrowhead is very ANTI-META. That's so hilariously epic to see. Finally a Developer who is CHALLENGING THEIR PLAYERS to actually adapt and learn what other loadouts they can use within a squad to be effective. Not "pick these 4 and screw the rest" like so many other games out there.
@@RyanAmmonthe only reason those things were "meta" was because everything else is shit. These were the only viable options on heldive, maybe instead of being retarded and nerfing so called meta buff the other shit so it's actually usable
@@VforVendetta13 Same with me. level 9 was hard but doable, even with all the heavies. It sucks. I've even used the weapons they've buffed and they're still garbage. Quite literally making the game less fun. The dev even says that he thinks that "The weapons are in a good spot right now." Insane.
@Chadronius what had killed our interest with my guys and I is the spawns from the ether that quickly spawn more enemies. We play at higher difficulties and we do well for the most part but then quickly overwhelmed quickly even when we disengage. Can't escape if a tank and hulks spawn in front of you from the ground.
The guns aren't really the biggest issue here. I wouldn't care as much about the nerfs if it weren't for the fact that enemy spawn rates got juiced up on steroids and their AI became much more frustrating to deal with. Bot drops and bug breaches are an ever present danger when you're combating random groups, but never once have I had three bots try to bot drop on me and succeed twice back to back to back as I desperately try to kill them. Not to mention, spawning patrols, rather than being a wandering map hazard, now hone in on your location, forcing you to abandon your stealth or carefully maintained position during a firefight so your back isn't riddled with bullets and teeth. It also feels like it's much harder to lose bugs once you've been spotted if you need to make a Tactical retreat. I can't seem to shake them, and it was already hard to lose a Horde chasing you before the patch. Top that off with the Hazards that make the stratagems the devs want us to rely on so badly so much more difficult to use effectively, and the guns are the least of our worries. Even if they buffed the rest of the guns like people wanted, the new enemy AI and spawn rate buffs would render that pointless. I'm now heavily considering dropping the difficulty on runs where I wanna grind for gear because my squad is struggling even when we coordinate to the best of our abilities where we used to be able to do just fine if we weren't idiots. This has to change, as its making some of my squad members consider dropping the game until it improves. Helldivers 2 had such a good thing going, but they're fumbling. The next patch needs to address this so they don't drop the ball and MURDER the momentum they've had building up with their community. EDIT: To clarify, only one of us uses the "Meta" build, and the rest of us pick whatever we think works for any particular mission, and we did just fine. Hell, he'd been experimenting with non meta builds for some missions as well!
The goal is to make a fun game. Plain and simple. Let players play HOW THEY want to play instead of forcing Helldivers to use these Stupid METAS. Each mission type requires different weapons/strategems. We've been using the Arc thrower since day 1 and we are having an absolute blast. FOR SUPER EARTH!!!
That wasn't the goal. That isn't even the developers over all goal. They've stated it themselves. They don't want a fun game. They want an (overly) hard and challenging game for a niche audience and they'll get that niche audience if they keep doing bad patches.
nothing was overpowered, but at the same time those players would kick people for not using Railgun, shield and blah blah blah? so which is it? If elitist squad kicking was becoming an issue becuse players weren't picking the "meta" then obviously there needs to be less of a "meta" at all.
Yea the nerfs weren’t necessary. All they had to do was buff the weak weapons to make them viable, not nerf the only viable weapons at high difficulties. Not looking good for the future if all they’re going to do is nerf weapons that have high pick rate. Now how do we deal with 4 bile titans, 5 chargers, and 30+ cannon fodder bugs? Just ran into this on suicide mission with randoms and we didn’t stand a chance. They need to lower the amount of heavy armored enemies if they are going to keep nerfing the only weapons viable for those situations.
I'm sorry but no: - The developers have overall buffed 7 weapons, and nerfed two. Both the slugger, the spray and pray, the punisher and the scorcher are good options now that's pretty much on par with the breaker, but other guns like the assault rifles and the DMR's still needs a significant lift. That does not mean though that the dev's should not have nerfed the guns everyone agrees are OP. - The railgun was so overpowered it essentially made Helldivers 2 into a "power-fantasy game". Good examples of such games are Destiny 2 and Warframe, where the gameloop revolves around soloing overpowered weapons and abilities that it just feels so freaking good to use. The fundamental issue with that is that its simply not what Helldivers is designed to be. Helldivers is the "clench your pearls and complete the mission by cooperating" kind of game. This means that if you can solo a level 9 difficulty mission with the breaker, railgun and the shield-pack, its just not within the framework of the games intended design. A "hot tip" from me is to try the buffed flamethrower against chargers and coordinated teamplay when there is more than four titans. -The "bring other guns in line with the meta idea" is something i have seen floated in not just Helldivers, but in many other games, and it shows a fundamental lack of understanding in how game design works. If you bring all weapons to the level of the overpowered weapons, you get a very different game because of the power-creep. Then you are at the crossroad of "do i want this to be a power fantasy" or "is this a game about cooperation for success". Dev's then often increase the numbers and strength of enemies, and around and around it goes forever. If you truly want a game where cooperation is key for success, then you must balance equipment differently than just adjusting their inherent damage and fire rate. All equipment must have a some sort of negative, to make shure another player brings equipment to fill the role your weapons and stratagem's cant fill. This is why you have coop options on most anti armor equipment like the SPEAR, Recoilless and the Autocanon, and why there should never be a weapon like the railgun which could do their job more effectively by itself. - Overall i think there is still a lot of issues like armor rating still not working, DMR, balancing and so on. But its interesting that you think its a "net negative" that the game is harder for the players as you state in 04:40. That probably means you might not yet have understood the core concept of Helldivers to begin with. The game was way to easy for solo play, and it was that way because some weapons and equipment had no negatives, therefore not working as intended and disincentivizing cooperation. But i have great news for you! If you want that easy experience again, you just have to turn down the difficulty.
Absolutely! You are my kind of person. I get the point people are making about certain guns under preforming and in due time those are likely to be tweaked, but what the game suffered from is that it was too easy and people mostly just farmed anyway. What did this patch do? Made the game harder by nerfing the clearly absolutely broken railgun (not even that much by the way, for a weapon that can be reloaded while moving and without a backpack slot its actually still very good) and made the most farmed game type more aligned with the rest of the missions. I love this patch so far! Hope to see more!
I don’t care for the environmental changes at all. Getting suddenly killed by a meteor that I can’t see coming has nothing to do with skill. It doesn’t add to the fun of the game at all. I also wasn’t aware the over charge on the rail gun still worked so maybe I can go back to using it. It’s unclear to me how the devs expect us to deal with all the heavy’s at high levels. Call in’s?
As a Veteran of Helldivers 1: This patch is exactly what was needed. In HD1 the hardest difficulty levels required an intense amount of coordination to pull off, but in HD2 4 randoms in a pick-up game can just coast through by railgunning everything. In HD1 _every_ gun was viable in the top difficulties, it just depended on how your loadout complemented the team (it took a bunch of patches and DLC to get there, of course). In HD2 not using the breaker and railgun was basically wasting everyone's time. You can't just buff _every_ other gun to bring them up to the breaker and railgun, as then you effectively decrease the difficulty of the enemies, making the game even easier than it currently is. All of Arrowheads games have been intensely difficult and chaotic and the idea is you need to get gud and coordinate like the SAS to beat them, and it's a thrill when it's pulled off. Helldivers 2 wasn't intended to be babies first bug shooter. After all, their company motto is: A Game For Everyone Is A Game For No One
I thought the meteor shower and fire tornado would be sick but dying on your last life to a meteor as your almost to the evac ship after a 40 minute mission doesnt really feel too great.
Wants to balance the weapons - has the railgun which is specifically for targeting through enemy armor - now it does nothing. It’s a pointless weapon on harder tiers.
I agree the balance portion of this update was terrible. This does not bode well for future balance updates if this is how Arrowhead thinks they can improve the game. If Arrowhead doesn't revert these nerfs and instead focus on bringing up the majority of terrible weapons in this game rather than just nerfing the few decent ones that become "meta", which there will always be a meta, then this game is going to die.
It seems the dev missed two fundamental issues with their balancing. Armor on bugs is a massive problem since unlike Robots they don’t have critical weak point just regular ones, And this creates a lot of limits in dealing with bugs. Two the devs don’t seem to know that frequently we are stuck relying ONLY on our primary weapon as due to just how tanky almost all mobs are pat the very low levels our support weapons have to be saved only for the super tanky mobs. The devs seem to think that having a common solution to the problem we have to overcome is an issue they need to fix, not the problem by design limits our options.
I understand your frustration but i fundamentally disagree, this game is made to be played with 4 people, so communicate. The recoilless/EAT is amazing at taking off charger leg armor in 1 hit, then any gun can kill it in about 2 seconds. Bile titans, give someone your backpack and team up to unload into it, 4 shots will kill it, easy. Any other armoured bugs, if there are many, use your airstrikes, or one of your team bring a flamethrower, its honestly awesome post update. The Punisher is really good with its new knockback and ammo pool, you can literally push a Brood commander back 20 metres with 4 shots if you're in a sticky spot, and it 1 hits everything small. Experiment, have fun, and spread democracy!
@Harvest133 if 4 people spray fuel into their mouths instead of their car, is there a problem with the hose or should the 4 change their habits? Fed up of people complaining about the difficulty at level 7,8 and 9 when there's 6 levels below they can play, it's meant to be hard.
Trouble is youre not playing the game the way it was intended. its a team oriented game and you have PLENTY of stratagems to deal with hordes and heavy enemies. IF you really think the only way to play the game is with an OP weapon then go play a different shooter like.... COD.
guys we nerfed stuff so you would work with your teams more using stratagems, and also we nerfed the already limited use stratagems with more planetary debuffs that make them unuseable. next month: guys we see that the arc thrower is being used too much so weve nerfed it, but buffed its ability to jump to teammates if they are within 200 yrds of you and havent died in the last 45 secs.
Maybe read the developer notes on what the weapon is used for... Its a unlimited ammo, energy alternative to the LMG's. End of story. The added penetration is only there for "some" convienience, but you still need to aim for the weak spots like the sack or the back of the legs.
@@rocketman3285then you didn't read it completely, it seems. Laser had its damage to heavy parts increased as well as the armor penetration. Or at least that's what the patch notes stated, which feels like a lie after having tested it.
This is GREAT news. Helldivers at its core is about combining weapons and strategems to overcome wild challenges. Our squad ran Helldive+ difficulty missions on the regular w/o touching the Railgun/Breaker/Shield Pack. It CAN be done and makes the game much more strategic and fun.
Bang! You found the Meta. It's all about learning how to synergize with your squad, figuring out which loadout/stratagem works best for the mission. It adds dimension rather than using shield/breaker/railgun as a crutch for difficult missions. We run Helldive and talk about what we want to bring, addressing objectives and definitely for extraction. Kudos to you!
Agreed. Most enemies constantly call breaches or boy drops and heavily armored enemies are almost impossible to take out with most weapons especially the primaries. The medium penetrating AR doesn't even seem to affect chargers weak point even if you blow a whole in its side.
You can still be headshot with the working armor rating, which happens frequent enough that i still think wearing heavy armor isnt worth it. Also It slows you down allowing mobs to more easily swarm you making the extra armor useless because the few extra hits you could take wont matter.
Ok. To be truthfull. Railgun were OP. Ability to 1shot titans if you have good aim and timing, were kinda OP. Not everybody could do it most of the people needed 2-4 shots, some couldnt do it even in 8. So it was good, but only in good hands. Also it were able to 2 shot strip armor from charger leg, it was perfectly ok, especially when you need to deal with 3-8 chargers. But ok. But what they did is not balancing. Now I dont even know if you can strip armor with it. I tried it in 7 out of 9 difficalty, where the second difficulty bump happens. And I couldn't do more then 4-5 fully charged shots into the same leg of a charger, and it didnt do shit to him. Belive me I tryed to do 6th shot, but it is almost impossible with amount of time you need to do even 4, you just get overrun becouse instead of killing stuff you waisting your time trying and failing to kill 1 thing, and 2 other chargers can easily spawn or come to you. It wasnt the best experiment, but it was best crash test. Also people struggling with it in helldive (diff 9) and just leaving matches after some not so great time. It is not fun when your weapons do jack shit. It is not balance when weapon from "premium" warbond that worth 200 medals to get to, twice as good, literally it have twice the damge, as weapon from regular warbond that need 1200 medals to get to. PS they also do the same, they are almost twins. I'm talking about scorcher and dominator.
The 1 shotting bile titans was a glitch with PS5 crossplay it wasnt intentional As for the railgun it can still strip armor but its so much worse now as it can take anywhere from 3 - 6 shots to a single charger's leg at 95% power
Keep in mind that armor values for helmets are the same across the board so you will still take the same headshot damage no matter what armor you have on. I figured this out the hard way when i seemingly took more damage with medium armor vs light armor just to find out i got hit in the head.
First channel that didn't run to the "balance" patches defence with what feels like forced positivity and actually pointed out the main issue with starting off with nerfs rather then buffs
The reason arrowhead nerfed the meta instead of bringing other weapons in line is because they don't know how. Literally they know how to make a gun worse, but they don't know how to balance what they have. If they did, they would have already done it. They are basically just taking a stab in the dark as how to fix things to how they want them to be. These nerfs, plus Joel removing player progress on major orders shows that arrowhead doesn't really understand their game (or they would have a better design prelaunch), or their players (because they are making what's fun, less fun). The last week or so of arrowheads actions make me want to stop investing my time in their game, not necessarily stop playing, but stop investing time in their product when there are so many other games out there right now. And I'm saying that as a lvl47. Why even level up the rest of the way it arrowhead only knows how to break the meta by nerfing?
Why would they make the difficulties 10 times more difficult then nerf the 3 guns that got the job done. Just buff the other weapons so they are viable that's the problem. The railgun breaker and shield were fine they need to buff everything else. I wouldn't even complain at all if they didn't spike the difficulty to a ridiculous level.
All they want to do is nerf the fucking guns instead of working on their fucking servers. The game is completely broken right now, you can't even finish one mission without crashing. My buddy and I both saved up to play this because we heard how fun it is and it turned out to be a broken bubbling pile of shit that doesn't even work. We just got booted from every single game. I shit you not, we could not finish ONE MISSION without our game crashing on us.
I like the balance but ALL weapons need a slight buff. The biggest disappointment of the patch is the meteor storms and volcanoes! Random death is not fun. There needs to be a warning the storm is coming and be able to avoid the area or seek cover. Just walking along and dying randomly is NOT FUN!
The Breaker, Shield, and Railgun are STILL BiS. Their nerfs haven't changed that. They just make them feel worse to use for the casuals. For the skilled players that use Railgun on Unsafe Mode regardless, nothing has changed. And the Breaker is still the best all-around primary because the buffs merely brought up the Punisher and Spray'n'Pray from "completely useless" to "mostly useless". I'd still take the Breaker, Scorcher, Slugger, or Defender over any other gun. And that was exactly how it was before the patch. I can run solo Helldive with nothing but a secondary and meme turret build, but expecting everyone to adhere to some hyper-competitive "META" that SOME players used at the hardest difficulties is ridiculous. The shield changes don't even matter. You just drop the backpack and pick it back up and it recharges. Great, so it's still the same, just slightly more inconvenient to use. I love things becoming clunky to use. How fun. I've been using Arc Thrower more recently, anyway, because the Railgun was getting stale. Nothing has changed, the other support weapons are still worse at dealing with Armor. Laser Cannon is still terrible, and there's really no reason to use Recoilless Rifle over the EATs.
The counter sniper and the breaker are two entirely different guns for purposes that could not possibly be more different from eachother. Weird example. That being said it needs a buff still
The rail gun is still op. They didn’t necessarily nerfed it. But they adjusted the method in which you use it. Safe mode medium armor Unsafe mode heavy and same damage if targeted to the weak spots. So technically you have to improve your skill while handling and not just keep reloading and shooting and call it meta. Because was unbalanced. I’m very glad that this patch came out so it gives other options and builds to make sense. No bad news at all
I actually agree, I don't like nerfs they should buff underwhelming options instead especially on a PVE game. There's isn't really anything to balance when current *end game* support weapon options aren't even on the same playing field as the other *end game* support weapon options. They should start to balance things only when one is out of line *everyone* is in the same or at least very close to each other for usage. Right now there are a lot of support options that are almost completely forgotten like the Ballistic Shield, DMR weapons and Stalwart for example. DMR weapons are especially in a really bad spot right now and awful in almost anything because not only are they abysmal in clearing, they can't even break medium armor enemies which are almost half of the enemies in high difficulties. If you play Helldive even before the update you'll soon realize that pretty much at least half of the Support options needs to be brought UP to speed instead of just pulling DOWN 3 Strategem options. Right now mostly the same things from pre-patch are still being brought you know the balance update barely has done anything because other options are still awful post patch.
Got swarmed with 5 chargers and 2 bile titans last night with no real way to efficiently deal with them, using the rail gun takes forever to kill these big dudes now
Watch what happens in the next patch. They will see a huge decline in the number of players successfully taking on higher difficulties and will likely see a noticeable decrease in active players because of it. They will quickly switch to buffing stuff ASAP if they are even remotely interested in keeping the game at the same level of interest it has been the past few weeks. We will see in 2 weeks.
I think it was completely fine to nerf what they did but they needed to buff a lot more weapons to compensate. Flamethrower is a lot better, Punisher is better but still slow, breaker is still good but more annoying to use, haven't used the laser cannon yet, and railgun now takes 3-4 leg shots on a charger to break, up from 2. The nerf to the railgun is the most confusing because I think other stuff needed to be brought to its level instead. There's so much shit on the screen all the time, needing to dance around trying to hit several railgun shots on 1 of the many chargers on screen + worry about other bugs is the wrong direction imo. Our call-in weapons should be efficient at what they do but a lot of them aren't where they need to be to be contenders at higher difficulties. Not really sure how much impact it'll have on the "meta", at least for higher difficulties, because barely anything else was buffed. At least amor was fixed which might make the shield pack less needed.
I think this is needed. They're probably still gathering data on the unused weapons, but can't while the other weapons are too viable to cease using. By adjusting the meta, they're forcing players to diversify away from meta to see what the second best options are that players swap to and experiment with and which guns are not even on the radar of players.
Honestly, I don’t even want to play anymore. The game is incredibly boring outside of Helldive difficulty because it’s so easy. But now basically all the weapons aren’t efficient enough to actually clear Helldive maps anymore. 3 of your team members have to kite mobs while one does the objective, and that’s just a terrible playstyle. I want to fight on the objective with my team, while actually being able to kill enemies. The railgun and breaker didn’t need to be nerfed, everything else just needed to be buffed. If this is the direction the devs are going to follow for future parches, this game will be dead in a year.
The Laser (gun)is still useless. At least for the Robots. You have to keep a line of sight to have the laser on it. But that just puts a big red target on your back. The bugs are more forgiving with it. But I've used two whole clips trying to take down one charger.
there's no incentive to wear heavy armor even if the armor rating is fix, it only tanks 2 more hits average while you run slower when higher difficulty requires you to be quick
I was thinking the game would for sure be easier with armor fixed. Man was i wrong. Oneshots everywhere from almost everything. Light armor vs heavy doesnt matter. 50% resistance to explosives on heavy armor, dies just as easy if not even easier. Also meteors nuking the team running to extract and fail.
Even in unsafe mode the railgun doesn’t do shit to armored enemies anymore. They shouldn’t have nerfed the shit out of it without buffing all the other guns at the same time. It shouldn’t take 10 unsafe railgun shots to down a charger.
Dev response is nothing just pure lying. They don't give 2 shits about what people like, the Railgun's only purpose was single target armor shred and they took taht away from it, soooo wtf is it supposed to be great at then?.... They dont play their own game, all they see is a graph based on reported statistics and all they care about is "There's a curve, FUCKING MAKE IT FLAT".... The Spray and Pray might seem like it got buffed, but if you look at the stats, it's just a 1:1 of the Incindary now, only with still less armor penetration and no fire, so it's still useless.
They screwed us helldive difficulty just feels unfair at this point the amount of titans and chargers vs how many stratagems you have that can actually deal with them and with upwards of 4 minute cooldowns on some of them they become unviable and undependable it would be more forgivable if say the orbital laser had enough juice for two or three titans but a 5 minute plus cooldown for one titan ? That’s nuts railgun gave the ability to defend and hold the line against larger enemies and it still wasn’t easy to do so or coordinate a team to shoot one spot on a target in the middle of combat taking away options is stupid adding more is the key
Arrowhead is falling into some lazy changes that Activision is falling into ever since. The reason on why these kits are meta on the higher difficulty is that other guns are practically useless with the amount of health, armor, and numbers the game throws at you. We don't need Nerfs, we need Buffs
I can adapt to the weapon nerfs, I can adapt to the increased enemies..... the environmental "upgrades". I'm out. It was a fun week working hard to get the rail gun just to have it nerfed the day I got it. Bad timing on me for sure but I can't kill a meteor, but it sure can kill me.
The nerfs didn't address the actual problem with the balancing in the game, which is that all of the weapons are garbage. If they are going to nerf the good weapons into the ground and not buff the garbage weapons at all, then they need to also reduce the spawn rates of bile titans, chargers, etc in higher difficulties.
There will, by definition, always be a “strongest build”. There’s nothing the devs can do to change that aside from just shutting down the game entirely. There will always be a strongest build, people will always try to figure out what it is, people will always succeed in doing so. The “meta” can change but getting rid of it entirely is impossible.
Them nerfing the games “easy buttons” is a good change. Leads you open to explore weapons you normally wouldn’t pick up and leaves the game fresh and creative for the average player. I don’t agree that every weapon should be buffed up to the level of the rail gun because why have heavily armored enemies if you can simply one shot them with multiple weapons in the game?
yeah these changes lost me for now. i will come back at a later stage. Game was hard enough at higher levels without these changes. So tried the changes and i just die allot faster and it’s irritating. I’m out for now.
Don't like the way this patch turned out, I think it should have gone the other way around and bring more in line with the meta to give us more options.
The devs really think people are following the meta and not their own personal preference. They don’t realize nothing works at higher difficulty so only a few weapons are usable. That’s why the railgun is used so much. Railgun is used not because of the meta but actual personal preference based on extreme helldive missions.
People really have a hard time understanding that these game is meant to be played with strategems, resource management and strategies. Not just go in ahoot everything get out. The premise of the game is do operations, deal with chaotic sotutations on a smart way and extract. If theres too many enemies run away, shoot nests, bug holes, destroy deploy ships before they spawn enemies and so on. It's not that hard.
Trash update and the devs are just arrogant idiots and don’t listen to the community They just made the same mistakes like the diabolo 4 dev If this update doesn’t get taken back this is the start of the downfall of this game
They should have buffed weapons, not nerfed the equipment that works. They made the other weapons non-viable by making them too weak. Now, they have a shit ton of gear that’s not viable, and the ‘meta’ is just weaker too
Disagree, the rail gun needed a nerf. It was just too easy to keep it in safe mode and take out chargers with two shots and half a magazine dump from a breaker.
Example:
Evil-Bosse: And I am out of here, git gud, play easiest if you want to win, send a ticket and complain and HR might have a meeting with me :D
I'm putting this game in the discard pile for quite a while.
It hasn't even been 1 MONTH since release. I feel like most people should quiet down and just keep playing and enjoying the game. It's not "one sided" or "heavy handed"....IT'S A BRAND NEW GAME lol
Don't really understand the point of even maxing out a character so early into a games release to begin with lol, just more time to go farming or something?
I found the changes absurd and like you said players will always find another meta to use they should have made the other main weapons more interesting but instead they take the road of least resistance and nerf things if they keep going that route the game is gonna be a bore chore to play like every weapon that you unlock aint worth it because there so annoying to use.
@@BedBug1984haha that's the funniest shit ever, bout time some devs have the balls to call out the sooks for what they are
The railgun change hardly changes anything for anyone using the gun correctly so that's not even a nerf.
You also get one more salvo. Combined with the tighter radius, barrages could be useful for locking down a breach/drop now.
Great. Now it hits some enemies sometimes. Wow. Such amazing strategems when I can use an Airstrike to actually hit what I want, and use 3 of them back-to-back in 8 second intervals. They are still not worth using.
Would be nice if they gave us more details. How much smaller is the spread? How much longer is the duration. I hate vague balance updates.
yep, since iI started playing I said "I want to be dropping those 320"... after some plays with it droped as it was a disaster ahahaha, zero damage, 100% backfired.
The DMRs need to break medium armour. As it is they don’t handle crowds, don’t hurt moderate or large things. They’re just bad.
True

Maybe don’t have a strict meta, but a flexible loadout you change to have…
(and I know this may be hard)
…*FUN*
I can’t understand those who whine that their “powerful, favorite” weapon got a slight nerf that made it “unplayable”.
And doing this while being swarmed with smaller enemies is really frustrating and not challenging in a fun way
Sad when you drop an autocanon and the 5 charger and 2 titans just destroy it in one swoop while you get charged by 30 little hunter and 2 big
You cant reload, you cant run, you cant jump away
Since the update i only could rage bout this game and quit after the first mission.
If it dosnt get back to balance again i will in my opinion uninstall this game
I wanna see the devs play on hell diver difficulty with their 'favourite' loadouts. Because their mentality of using stratagems for the chargers/bile titans only works on the lower difficulties, because levels 8/9 usually have a stratagem nerf to them and you get swarmed with the big mobs.
so damn true on difs like helldive your constantly swarmed by them and when the stratagems have double the cooldown and 50% longer call in not only are they harder to hit but they barely help cause you cant call them in often enough
We didnt use things like the breaker and railgun because they trivialised things we used it because without them helldiver would be almost impossible

I haven't even gotten to helldive difficulty so this is just gonna make it more unnecessarily difficult for me

Primaries? most are trash, I agree a lot with the video arguments.

I'm really sad because I didn't enjoy playing with my friends this much since forever.

the problem with the balance is that the things that got nerfed were some of the only things that could allow people to keep up in higher difficulties as most of the weapons and stratagems just arent up to scratch
most primarys just dont have enough power behind them to deal with any decent amount of enemies, support weapons lack armor penetration other than the rocket launchers and its really difficult to survive without the shield generator because half of the terminids slow you on hit making you just get dogpilled
its not that the meta was super op it was just the rest of the options werent good enough in any serious level of difficulty

The fact an airstrike doesn't kill a charger, yet we can get 3 chargers at once in hard
@@Enjgine Airstrike can kill charger, airstrike drops sizable bombs that damage armor. Might not OHKO like orbital rail but not everything in the game needs to be capable of 0'ing a target from full HP.

Autocannon can absolutely damage a bile titan, aim for joints where the legs meet the body or the belly. You don't NEED heavy armor pen to kill enemies that have heavy armor, you just aim for spots without the armor.

Anyone else noticed a drop in activity with the gaurd dog drone?
yes
yes seem like my guard dog just refuse to fire even with enemies right in front of it....not to mention i got chase by bile titan for 3 minutes and guard dog be like "nah you take care of it, im tired today"

@@BabiiLikeBaby odd. I've always seen it return to pack and then leave again when it's "charged"

I agree with that they should’ve buffed the DMRs. Shotguns weren’t really my preferred primary but it was effective. If more DMRs were viable the later game would be enjoyable as players wouldn’t just default into what everyone else is running.

Imagine that you regularly dine at a restaurant because of one particular dish on the menu, while finding the other dishes to be subpar. The owner wants you to try the other dishes, so instead of improving them, they tamper with your favorite dish. You would likely seek out another restaurant in response.

The rail gun nerf isn't just in safe mode, it sucks now. The orbital barrage is still a bit too spread out to be effective.

They want an (overly) hard and challenging game for a niche audience
and they'll get that niche audience if they keep doing bad patches.

They need to lower the amount of heavy armored enemies if they are going to keep nerfing the only weapons viable for those situations.
over performing WTF more like everything else was garbo & yes i do think they needed to week stuff but nothing felt OP past suicide+
I'm sorry but no:
- The developers have overall buffed 7 weapons, and nerfed two.
If you want that easy experience again, you just have to turn down the difficulty.
best take here.
This ! 👏🏽
Stop the cap
You sound like a guy who wants to justify the money he spent on a game. Stop the cope dude.
Instead of saying "meta is bad" they should have asked themselves "what makes these meta".
🍻 for this guy!
i agree all the meta chasing kids need to get good.
Ah finally a vet giving us actual insight. This isn't cod. This is war. You can't win every mission with 4k stacked. Ugh meta slaves
I thought the meteor shower and fire tornado would be sick but dying on your last life to a meteor as your almost to the evac ship after a 40 minute mission doesnt really feel too great.
especially if it feels like these things only hit you and never the enemy
Not to mention the heat-seeking one shot Meteors that are complete RNG.
Wants to balance the weapons - has the railgun which is specifically for targeting through enemy armor - now it does nothing. It’s a pointless weapon on harder tiers.
Damn. They said nothing about fixing the charger’s Tokyo drift bs
its pretty obvious that one of the devs has a massive fuckin hard on for chargers and doesnt want them harmed
I think it’s suppose to be like that on purpose
Finally people getting off the hype train and speaking truth about the game-it’s horribly bugged, unbalanced, and incomplete

I feel like this is a mindset issue 95% of developers struggle with. Don't nerf the strong stuff, buff the weak stuff.

The 1 shotting bile titans was a glitch with PS5 crossplay it wasnt intentional
As for the railgun it can still strip armor but its so much worse now as it can take anywhere from 3 - 6 shots to a single charger's leg at 95% power
one shot was a bug. shows how much you know...
Keep in mind that armor values for helmets are the same across the board so you will still take the same headshot damage no matter what armor you have on. I figured this out the hard way when i seemingly took more damage with medium armor vs light armor just to find out i got hit in the head.
Then armor stat is useless as headshots are very common. What a weird decision
That being said it needs a buff still
Yeah. They do have two entirely different purposes. One is good and the other sucks.
yea 2 different uses 1 to troll and show how unique and quirky you are and the other to actually get some use out of. LMAO
Breaker performs well in its role, while the Diligence sucks in its own, that the comparison's point
Not nerfing the meta weapons increases the chance of power creep ruining a game.
Last thing most of us want is a repeat of Destiny 2.
The rail gun is still op. They didn’t necessarily nerfed it. But they adjusted the method in which you use it. Safe mode medium armor
Unsafe mode heavy and same damage if targeted to the weak spots.
Right now mostly the same things from pre-patch are still being brought you know the balance update barely has done anything because other options are still awful post patch.
dawg just take the fucking railgun off safe mode holy shit. they hardly nerfed a thing.
That's the fucking problem here them gathering DATA and contemplating instead of playing and see how it works!! ridiculous!!
i found it insane that the difficulty spike between level three and four is wayyyyyy to hard now. it felt like another game...
Never mind the nerfs, please fix scope reticle thickness so i can actually see at what i am aiming at!!
DMRs all need med penetration. It's a wonder to me why the tier 2 dmr is WORSE than the tier 1
I disagree. If you were running the 'meta' loadout, the game was too easy on the highest difficulties. Good they nerfed some things.
“lets nerf anything effective and lets increase the amount of heavies that spawn”
Bad decision on the devs to just nerf stuff without really buffing anything in return. Dif 7+ is still a running sim when enemies start spawning.
They executed the rail gun they should of made it take an additional shot to destroy chargers armor and remove the 1 shot on bile titans
yeah these changes lost me for now. i will come back at a later stage.
Have you ever tried running away from enemies??. They follow like you owe them money, there’s virtually no way to lose either types.
Trash update and the devs are just arrogant idiots and don’t listen to the community
They just made the same mistakes like the diabolo 4 dev
If this update doesn’t get taken back this is the start of the downfall of this game
They should have buffed weapons, not nerfed the equipment that works. They made the other weapons non-viable by making them too weak. Now, they have a shit ton of gear that’s not viable, and the ‘meta’ is just weaker too
I completely agree the breaker didn’t need a nerf… in 6-9 difficulty it was still very easy to die if you aren’t careful
Disagree, the rail gun needed a nerf. It was just too easy to keep it in safe mode and take out chargers with two shots and half a magazine dump from a breaker.
