  • I recently purchased custom molded In Ear Monitors from Alclair. In this video I unbox them and talk about the process of getting impressions made of my ears and why I chose Alcair. I discuss why musicians may want to use custom molded in ear monitors and I review the Refrence Triple Driver headphones from Alclair.

Thanks for the honesty about the ear pain… might use less qtips before I get my impressions!

Thanks for this video, I hated the impression process, especially having them removed. Glad it wasn't just me. I DO NOT use q tips to clean my ears that is definitely not the reason

You're welcome, Juan! I hope it is helpful in making your decision! I can't remember if I said it in the video but sometimes I wish I had gone with the Tour drivers for a little more low end and not as flat. But if flat is what you're going for the Reference seems to do it!

@@JesseJorgensen that’s actually something I’ve been wondering. I keep hearing that some people like the low end in their monitors instead of having it be so flat. I’m not really sure what exactly that would sound like. Maybe you could elaborate a little?

@@juanfajardo1295 I can try! I've not used the tour triples, but I would anticipate that there probably isn't a wrong choice between them and the reference. I tend to like a lot of bass and often I think my mixes are a little too bass heavy. I'm glad I went with the reference drivers because I'm hoping the flat response will help train my ears to mix more true to what is there (if that is even a thing). Also, because as I lead at my small church, I sometimes help make audio and EQ decisions and so I want to hear the truest reference. However, when I listen to music for fun, through these, I do wish there was a little more low end. I can easily compensate for this in live settings by turning up the bass and kick drum to my preference. So, it's not a problem and I'm glad to know I'm listening to a more pure reference. I guess it just depends on your application and your biases...maybe...Since I know I can be a little bass heavy I think the flat reference is good for me. That's been my current thinking on it, anyway. Feel free to contact me through my website if I can be of more help. www.jorgensenmusic.com

As far as the pain you felt, I had that as well. My ears hurt for about 2-3 days after I got the impressions done. Haven’t received my IEMs yet but I’m excited!

@@JesseJorgensen oh man....I love them. I’ve been using universal in ears for so long and never knew the benefits of custom molds. I have the Tour triple drivers and the response I get out of the low end is nuts. Alclair is next level!
What do you think of yours!?

@@nathandrums0 awesome! I think I would enjoy the low end of the tour triple drivers but my reference triples have been great. The clarity is SO good.

@@JesseJorgensen all depends on what you like! The tours have clarity, enough for a live stage. However, they’re definitely not meant for mixing audio. Which for me is fine, I don’t spend too much time doing that haha. Overall I’m extremely impressed.
