Readyyy was a really complicated thing. The start of it is actually kinda underground idol/voice actors, they were all no names and before the game did small lives to build an audience of fans. The voice actors were going to grow with the characters in game. They also did live streams in characters with a kinda live2d setup with toggles for motions. It was super cool. This game was also just launched in the era where a lot of gacha idol games died. Even DreamIng that did well died too. It was the end of the gacha hype train. So the timing was also just bad. And I think Sega just didn’t see a future and wanted to cut things off (and others) early. It was really abrupt, even the official twitter was posting in game events just moments before the announcement. After that this project lived by Japanese Patreon and now is getting new songs. The original plan was just to finish releasing already made content. Also if you like the MV, it’s done by Dandelion Studios who’s doing all the Ensemble Stars stuff! So if you like the feel, check out the new anime MV, it’s got a very similar vibe. They also did first season Tsukiuta OP ED, some idolish7 stuff, and made the Slam Dunk movie.
It sounds like the plan was not dissimilar to things like Hypnosis Mic and Paradox Live. Maybe a sort of soft reboot to Readyyy to put more emphasis onto the MVs (like how Hypmic and Paradox Live do) could be a good idea for Readyyy.
God, I could talk about how much I love the rayglanz mv for awhile, it and the laveritta mv are the ones that I find myself frequently rewatching, long after their release. I feel that with these two mvs, you can tell they had a strong concept and image in mind for the mv compared to the other three. From the very beginning of rayglanz's mv, they have an instant power and presence. You get that they're supposed to be the cool and powerful idols that strive to be the best, they are professionals and have experience. You also get a sense for who these characters are, and what they're like. Chihiro the gray haired one is the rebellious one, a lone wolf type, the one most likely to get in a fight or do their own thing. You can see it in the little details, like how he smirks, or that one cool shot where he does the splits and the camera cuts closer to Ango. Ango, my personal favourite and the one with the bob hair cut, presents himself as calm and cool. He's Touya's right hand man. His face doesn't show much emotion compared to Chihiro's smugness, or Touya's confidence. Then you have Touya, who clearly stands out as the leader, the center of the group, the king. At the start of the mv, he is in the front, leading his group members when they walk down the stage. he often has his arms outstretched, kinda like a t pose, asserting dominance. It also matches up with the bird wings you can see on the screen behind them, which you can also take to be a phoenix, a great bird of legends. In the mv, you can see that he is always positioned behind or in front of Chihiro and Ango, but never beside them, showing that he is on a different level than the two of them. Then you also have the lyrics to the song, which is basically a declaration of their greatness and superiority. The first verse in the song is "we are different than those lovestruck fools, we don't flatter anyone, we don't let them get in our way". The song is called "Go Now" because they are at the top and they are challenging you to chase their shadow and try to dethrone them. Ok, I wrote a lot for rayglanz, but they are my favourite group out of readyyy. Laveritta's mv also has some nice details. For example, in the mv, Genshin is usually the one who looks to Uta, looking sad, while Uta ignores him. You can tell that despite being a duo, there's something going on between the two of them that creates a distance between the two. They almost never face each other directly during the performance, even dancing with their backs turned to each other. Genshin is usually posed with his back towards Uta, looking back at him, while Uta faces forwards and stares towards the distance. There are two points where they are face to face, at the start and near the end of the mv. The first time, they both have a stoic, emotionless look, but when it comes to the end of the mv, Genshin's expression is noticeably different, and he looks sadder while Uta stays the same. It's fun watching this mv again knowing their backstory and what their deal is. Sorry that this comment is so long, especially for a 9 month old video. I got really invested in readyyy when it first came out, and I followed along with the main story and what ever got translated to English by fans, so I do know some of the story, what happens, and some character backstories. I even have some recorded footage of my old account on the day the game shut down.
I get why it failed, but I will always be super upset about it because RayGlanz is probably one of my favorite idol groups in general from anything, they capitvated me right away and I always feel let down that the game failed this bad. I just hope that Sega can bring it back somehow and make it better... :((
The reason they don't have more 3D MVs is that the MVs are in fact not made by SEGA, instead, it was work they commissioned (not sure if that's the right word to use). It was made by a 3D animation company called Dandelion Animation Studio (the same company that animated the 3D of Enstars Tsuioku Selection "Element", Idolish7, etc)
Before Readyyy!, Sega had another jouseimuke/otome mobage called Yumeiro Cast, a rhythm game with gacha and romance aspects. I think the game lasted for at least 2 years and I personally liked alot of the songs and gameplay and art. Anyways, around the time Readyyy was being promoted, Sega suddenly announced Yumecast's shutdown, making people (including me) think Yumecast died for Readyyy!....which makes Readyyy's commercial failure even more of a gut punch moment for me, who felt Yumecast died for nothing lol
Dang I never heard of yumeiro cast but if I was a fan that would hurt a lot. When I was younger a show I really loved was taken off the air and had its time slot replaced by another show that was a failure🥲 I am now 25 and still a little upset about it lol
Ikr 😭 I remember all the people going crazy in the comment section of the music videos just for the buzz around the franchise to seemingly cut completely in half since the only content being released was for the game(which not everyone had and some didn’t care for at all. Some were really hoping for and waiting for a show to enjoy the characters through to come at some point. Some just wanted more music videos like the one we got from the beginning, myself included 😅I loved the music and the music videos but rhythm/gacha games aren’t really my thing.. even if they were, language Barriers 🪦) It was hard to maintain readyyy communities when the only content being produced was stuff a majority of us over seas fans couldn’t understand do to the language Barriers and lacking people in the community who’d be willing to sit through all those hour long videos they post on their channel of the voice actors answering questions or doing things in character and all that So the communities started to fizzle out. I remember the only posts I would see are screen shots of peoples scores in the game. Which is great and I’m sure something to celebrate for them, but as a fan wanting more 3D music videos(which weren’t coming) and more songs(which were being released pretty slowly. Which is fine I guess when you already got a decently sized catalogue or already have a full album released for fans to listen to and enjoy while you work on new music, but in this case we only had like one or 2 songs from our favorite groups(assuming you didn’t like EVERY group) and would have to wait months to get a new one. And if the new one was a song that wasn’t your cup of tea, now you gotta wait another couple months to get to see if you like the next one that comes along.. it just seemed like such a long wait in between that I like many others started to fill our lives with other characters and franchises and readyyy started to fade to the background as a memory a bit) Eventually the readyyy community I was in died out Not even fan art was posted anymore at that point 💀 you know it’s bad when not a single artist out there in the community is drawing the characters anymore And just like that things just became very quiet. Now the only buzz I hear surrounding it is the times I go back and listen to their songs or watch their music videos or watch the live performances of the VA’s and see a few people mentioning how they miss the franchise or hope the characters don’t die for good and hope they don’t ever stop releasing music It’s crazy how we went from “Omg what is this!? Is this from a show!? From a game!? Where can I watch this show!? Where can I play this game!? What’s the name of the one with this color hair?! He’s sooo cute! I love them already! They got nice voices. This is gonna take the idol industry by storm. This looks amazing!(the 3D MV’s) I can’t believe there’s gonna be this much quality in a mobile game!.. this is gonna revolutionize the voice acting industry(apparently all the VA’s they hired were rookies. So assuming this franchise succeeded and people saw how good they were, the hope was that more companies would be willing to hire people with little to no previous job experience.. and if it failed.. well.. then people thought that would make companies less willing to work with rookie VA’s now associating them with a project that failed and don’t bring in enough money or fans 🪦)” To “what’s Readyyy?? Do you remember readyyy?? Here’s a video on why this franchise died… this was a failure… felt like a weird fever dream…” Like dang. It seems like it’s taken forever to get to this point but also like it happened over night lol
I was so invested in Readyyy when it came out, loved the songs, loved the designs (though your points do hit a mark why are there only 3 types-), and was excited at the concept. Getting all novice VAs together to 'debut' like a real group was such a fun concept! But then the game came out... and it wasn't fun, or at the very least didn't make sense as a non-JP speaker which is usually not the case for these types of games. Then it was discontinued after what... a few months? Why did that all happen. At least they have the songs on Spotify, unlike some series, looking at you Enstars!!
@@twiinsiink 😆 yeah everyone loved rayglanz it seemed. In the beginning it was my least favorite song with exception for the by la veritta or whatever their name is lol but it definitely started to grow on me I felt a little bad for the VA’s when they sang it live and people were talking about how shocked and disappointed they were that they didn’t sing very well or “anywhere near as yummy” as they do in the music video It’s kinda crazy how the group that had the most adoring fans and the coolest and most bad azz vibe kinda had the exact opposite when live 🪦
as someone who plays a lot of idol games the 3d here is crazyyyy. i have no idea when the mvs were released but its looks very good! speaking from what i gathered from your video, idk why readyyy doesn't use the typical idol formula of giving an unit one defining sound and sticking to it until they die (see: enstars, who has like over 10 units but still manages to sound distinct from one another) or straight up just do the colour-coded character design if they're all going to look so similar (like utapri, i7 or even tsukiuta 😭).
OMG I love readyyy! their songs were imo better than most of the competitors. And again imo, I like generic-looking characters when it comes to anime media; hence, why I love this project (Spica and Just4U especially those 2 groups who actually interact with the crowd and have a more pop-lively-boyish vibe than most male idol songs at that time). Really sad it failed...
I really loved their songs too. Sure there were some that sounded a little “I could probably go to any other idol franchise and find a song that sounds very similar to this” in a way, but some of the songs I felt really shined Blue Light Stars by SP!CA had that beautiful autotune at the beginning and had a space-y sound to it, Shiny Magic by RayGlanz had a vibe to it that took me back in time a little. Kinda had a Bruno mars 24k Magic kind of vibe to it.. lol I just realized they both have magic in them lol 😅.. Doki Doki had a sort of hip hop-ish and rock blend sound to it.. i also liked the guitar and strings in Start Line and the chorus to Running to the Top by SP!CA both made me feel like “ah~ it’s a new day. Things are looking up”… and of course we all can’t forget Pendulum by Maten Rocket. Initially I wasn’t very big on the song since it’s not a genre that’s my usual cup of tea but I guess I liked it all along because everytime I’d be like “this track isn’t for me I’m gonna play another song” I couldn’t get the song out my head or resist the urge to come back to it 😆 Eventually I became a loud “OO! OO!” Chorus singer whenever I played the song lol It definitely has a strikingly different singing melody and track vibe in comparison to a lot of the songs in the readyyy franchise
Wow, these rare cards are about as stimulating as eating plain rice cakes. XP And here I though Sonic Runners was one of Sega's biggest mobile game failures.
I was in the same boat, I honestly wanted to see this project succeed because I loved the mvs but I could barely find any content. They do have other songs on spotify- my favorite group is just4u (mainly bc of one singer) before hating on maten rocket, i recommend listening to pendelum (it's the only song i like by them tho lol)
8:26 I THOUGHT THE SAME THING FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS IT! 😭 for a long while I couldn’t actually focus on the video because I was too focused on his creepy little eyes. Like, they’re already light purple I don’t need to see them glowing like car headlights in the darkness of night
I think for me as someone who can only read English it definitely was a bit of an overload with what they were trying to cram into the gameplay as opposed to just a rhythm game. I still love the readyyy characters and from what little of the 2d animation and cards we did see they were very nicely illustrated and definitely had care put into them.
hope you'll also talk about Paradox Live! It's a music project like HypMic but the units do different types of hiphop! If anything else, I really like how different all the units are
Miku: Where Feelings come together Kaito: Conversing Through Sound Alone Honami: How'd This Happen? Shizuku: Your Hands, So You Don't Fall Akito: Chocolate Making Without Compromises Tsukasa: Troubling Meeting!? Rui: Sundown's Brilliance Kanade: Lifelike Ena: Mystery Tour Baptism Mizuki: Reverse Hermit And generally speaking, once we get to the "The Vivid Old Tale" event and on, all the art is absolutely stunning!
i was hyped up from the release of the series but slowly i started to forget about it since it wasn't really that interesting as other idol games😭so sad to see it slowly vanish away
In all seriousness though, I initially really disliked the name because it was so dang hard to look up any information on this franchise since google kept thinking I was misspelling ready and bringing up several other articles or pages with the word “ready” in them 😅 As someone who consumes a lot of over seas music and media, I always do an internal sigh whenever I come across a group or franchise that’s not well known and has their official name be something that’s a common word in in English 😞 it’s SO hard to find any info on them I mean, it’s ALREADY hard with language barriers to try to navigate your way through, but I can’t even get to the language barrier part of the struggle because I’m stuck on the google struggle of trying to get a search engine to understand that I want search results on an unpopular group or franchise with a common word that they spelled funny as opposed to something with that common word spelled correctly that’s popular lol Of course now it’s a little easier to pull up readyyy stuff but in the beginning it was rough The name grew on me over tiem but I still find it a little “huh? 🤨 “ ish lol
YOOOO... I ACTUALLY PLAYED THIS GAME, i was really disappointed in the gameplay as they were just *sighs* its really sad for me cuz there was a cast of new voice actors and i really liked them!!!
the story was so really intriguing too, but the chibi part of the game being the main part of it, really made me feel betrayed cuz the mvs were so FREAKING cool it was really shitty to know that they announced closure with no known explanation. and back then, seeing the vas feeling sad for the game just hurt me cuz this was probably most of the vas's bigger gigs and them working hard for this game was just heartbreaking for me. them hyping the announcements where the fans just want the game to be made just felt like a slap in the face.. as the company just wants to make more money but with less effort just kills it for me..
Dang, i remembered this project and was really looking forward to the game. But then a few min of gameplay, i immediately uninstalled it bcs it was really that bland :")
Rip 🪦 I figured it must’ve had something good to it to keep players there. I remember how sad everyone was saying they were when they got news that the game servers would be shut down due to lack of funds or something. I even heard some people talking about “if we all just pay like this amount, then maybe we’ll have enough to make them want to keeeo it up and running! Come on guys’ just think about what the franchise COULD be if they had more money “ I figured if people were going to the lengths of saying that there must’ve been soemthing good there that I was missing out on Not that I could understand a whole lot of Japanese or anything anyways, but when I’d go on their RUclips channel and try to watch some of their gameplay videos I felt a little bored 🥲 idk what I was expecting but whatever I was expecting it was more than that lol
I checked out some of their MV’s after this video, and can confidently say it’s some of the most stylish 3D animated MV’s I’ve ever seen.
As a fan of idol anime, this made me appreciate design a lot more.
" part one, where's the content?" Things youtubers get asked right after they uploaded a video or if they working on big project.
lol!
Twiins and Mobile Gacha Game critique is starting to become my favourite duo

hope you'll also talk about Paradox Live! It's a music project like HypMic but the units do different types of hiphop! If anything else, I really like how different all the units are
希望sega能重启这个系列😢
On the topic of idol stuff,
What are some of your favorite proseka cards? I don’t play the game but the illustrations are just 💋👌 chef's kiss
Miku: Where Feelings come together
Kaito: Conversing Through Sound Alone
Honami: How'd This Happen?
Shizuku: Your Hands, So You Don't Fall
Akito: Chocolate Making Without Compromises
Tsukasa: Troubling Meeting!?
Rui: Sundown's Brilliance
Kanade: Lifelike
Ena: Mystery Tour Baptism
Mizuki: Reverse Hermit
And generally speaking, once we get to the "The Vivid Old Tale" event and on, all the art is absolutely stunning!
i was hyped up from the release of the series but slowly i started to forget about it since it wasn't really that interesting as other idol games😭so sad to see it slowly vanish away
What kind of name even is readyyyy anyways
Seems awful for SEO
Seems like it's trying to emulate the kind of energetic, single word title like Free! did.
Idk I think they marathoned too many episodes of SpongeBob in the board room before the meeting began to decide on a name lol
In all seriousness though, I initially really disliked the name because it was so dang hard to look up any information on this franchise since google kept thinking I was misspelling ready and bringing up several other articles or pages with the word “ready” in them 😅
As someone who consumes a lot of over seas music and media, I always do an internal sigh whenever I come across a group or franchise that’s not well known and has their official name be something that’s a common word in in English 😞 it’s SO hard to find any info on them
I mean, it’s ALREADY hard with language barriers to try to navigate your way through, but I can’t even get to the language barrier part of the struggle because I’m stuck on the google struggle of trying to get a search engine to understand that I want search results on an unpopular group or franchise with a common word that they spelled funny as opposed to something with that common word spelled correctly that’s popular lol
Of course now it’s a little easier to pull up readyyy stuff but in the beginning it was rough
The name grew on me over tiem but I still find it a little “huh? 🤨 “ ish lol
Just like I-Chu 😢
But I-Chu have thre own anime but they just release senson1 😢
YOOOO... I ACTUALLY PLAYED THIS GAME, i was really disappointed in the gameplay as they were just *sighs*
its really sad for me cuz there was a cast of new voice actors and i really liked them!!!
the story was so really intriguing too, but the chibi part of the game being the main part of it, really made me feel betrayed cuz the mvs were so FREAKING cool
it was really shitty to know that they announced closure with no known explanation. and back then, seeing the vas feeling sad for the game just hurt me cuz this was probably most of the vas's bigger gigs and them working hard for this game was just heartbreaking for me. them hyping the announcements where the fans just want the game to be made just felt like a slap in the face.. as the company just wants to make more money but with less effort just kills it for me..
:)
Come on guys’ just think about what the franchise COULD be if they had more money “
I figured if people were going to the lengths of saying that there must’ve been soemthing good there that I was missing out on
Not that I could understand a whole lot of Japanese or anything anyways, but when I’d go on their RUclips channel and try to watch some of their gameplay videos I felt a little bored 🥲 idk what I was expecting but whatever I was expecting it was more than that lol
Ohhhhh this is fascinating! What a shame too, I would have been so into this if it had been released in English. I love me an edgy boy group 🥲
