You could always add voiceover and lay it over your video. Or even subtitles to your muffled adio if u wanted to do that. Matt laidlaw does voice over. Record video and puts voice audio over it after. It comes out pretty clean. Just a recommendation. But nice vid! Got the 17 sb last of the dynas in october!
I like them both a lot but I like the 2018 slightly better, because it is more of a bobber than the Dyna. The '18 really sticks to the minimalist, low ride, tall bar mold that is the Bobber style of bikes. The '17 just doesn't feel... minimal enough.
I sat on the exact 2018 model at Chesapeake HD last Friday. I am 5ft 10 inches tall and felt cramped. You are correct about needing forward foot controls. Your review has me looking at my checkbook! That flying bird from your previous review should have taken you out!
Donaldson well said. I felt like I was eating my knees a little. Forward controls would fix that. I’m 6’2. That bird was even close than it appeared. Lol
Really enjoyed this comparison video and appreciated the meatball commentary. That's a cool thing you got going with thunder creek. I like this concept. Nice job!
I agree that the Dyna Street Bob was always an amazing bike, and is hard to compare with the new model. The 2018 is a completely different animal. I fell in love with it because of it's power and stability. Being close in weight to a Sportster, but with a lower center of gravity makes it scary, until you get used to it. A 6 speed, behind that 107 gives you instant power at any range. She wants to stand up, especially shifting into second gear. I'm torn about the foot controls. The mid position pegs get in my way, when putting my feet down, and forward controls would be more comfortable on a long run, but they give it a sporty feel when rolling. The only thing I'm really not a fan of, is the new electric throttle. The grip twists back way too easy, with the bike's power to weight ratio, and you have no way to tighten it down. An inexperienced rider would Whiskey Throttle it in a heartbeat. As far as style, I LOVE it. I bought mine in Red Iron Denim. It fits so well with the bare bones look of the bike, and especially with the new brass accessories. She definitely turns heads. The mini-apes work well for my size (5'6"), but I shifted them forward a bit for a more agressive look and feel. All said and done, it still has that Dyna feel, but with a smooth Softail ride.
I’ve had my 18’ street bob a week now, my first Harley, I really liked my metrics, but they never made me smile like this street bob does, I absolutely love the way it rides.
wow i just got the 2019 street bob and i was wondering if it was me yanking on the throttle too hard to make the bike want to wheelie from first to second. now i see that is common on that model. no problem i just ride it the way i used to ride my sport bikes in the old days. i did change seats because i was feeling all the bumps when i did hit them. one big thing for me is that i had the 2014 low rider for 5 years and that liked to get moving with very little throttle this street bob wants to jet off all the time. well maybe after a couple of hundred miles i will get used to go fast again since transitioning from a tame low rider. reason i switched from low rider to street bob is the summers get really hot here and the 103 engine does not have radiator cooling the 2019 street bob has the radiator and that is enough reason for me to switch.
Just bought a 2020 street bob a couple months ago after trading in my forty-eight. I absolutely love it... except the exhaust (of course that’s gotta go). It’s got a ton of power, extremely smooth, and I love the look. I’ll admit I’ve never ridden a Dyna as I’m fairly new into the cruiser scene so I can’t contribute to the comparison discussion. But I can say I couldn’t be any happier with the purchase... I could be happier with the damn sales price though 😆
I have a soft spot for the StreetBob. I had one for a couple of years. Loved it!!! The tank looks a bit "different" on the 2018 but then, it's a whole different bike anyway. Awesome video and dual vlog! Hey! Kevin is rockin' a Bitwell Lane splitter full face! Same color like mine! Hahahah!!! Ride safe brother and Rock ON!!!
I'm still riding my '02 super glide. Ive been toying with the idea of upgrading to something "new". Ive been looking for a 2010-15 street bob, but I'm open to other options if I can get it within my payment price range. Any ideas for affordability and if a/which newer bike would do me better?
Just test rode a FXDB and a fxbb. I feel like the fxbb was super easy to ride and barely felt like it was on on idle, but for me personally the shakiness of the Dyna and the sketchiness of the Dyna is way more fun. Now if you're going to be commuting a lot on the bike then the fxbb would be the way to go but for around the town fun it felt like the Dyna feels way more fun and badass. REPLY
Guys great vid, Im in Manchester, UK, and think that Harley have missed a massive trick with the 2018 bob, ( I ride a 2011 bob), why didnt they just bag the Milwaukee 8 engine off for the Dyna and design a new entry level soft tail with a new name?, this would have kept Dyna fans happy and given them another angle for their soft tail line up. For me (and Im not a purist but love the Dyna style) the hidden mono shock just destroys the 'street bob' look and brand. People will disagree but the essence of the dyna is exposed rear shocks for me and to remove these is like Porsche building an SUV and calling it the new 911. I understand why they have done it to improve the chassis to accommodate that monster V but why not rename the bike it just isnt a street bob any more (in my opinion!) Great work though guys, keep it up!
I want to say that the 2018's will eventually catch on with the younger demographic but the otd cost plus the amount of extra money needed to customize it pretty much negates that. It's a shame that Harley, just like their patrons, are becoming more and more homogenized
i kinda have my eyes on the 2018 model , but i cant really see the huge difference between them too enough to think about the 2017 model....? maybe its because i hate chrome?
I dig the dual commentary, but pitting the two for comparison is pretty ridiculous. The only credibility there to call a Street Bob a Street Bob is that it's a Dyna not a regurgitated, redone softail. I think Harley Davidson is trying to appeal to a younger audience, I get that, but their prices just won't cut it. This is why their market share has disappeared on them over the past four years. There are way more affordable and comparable options on the market. I say leave the Dynas alone and let them be their own model, refine if from that point. I think they did a great job refining the softail. I rode the new Heritage, there was a lot to love about that bike. The Dyna was the predecessor of the FXR ( another bike Harley Davidson missed the boat on). Market Surveys don't always flesh out the people who actually buy and consume the products that are laid before them. But I have to give HD a big A for effort taking this ill advised leap of faith, and I don't say that lightly. My next motorcycle purchase is probably not going to be a Harley Davidson and all I have ever owned are Harleys. I've owned Sportsters, FXRs, Dynas, Softails and their touring bikes. All of these bikes had their bugs but were all still pretty incredible bikes. I currently have a 2017 Road Glide Ultra, and I love it. Jury is still out on the motor but we'll see. Sorry, getting off my original thought here. The Dyna is and was the working man's bike with lots of room to grow for customizing and tailoring to the individual rider. What the new models represent to me are cookie cutters or an amalgamation of all the customizing on one bike which creates a one size fits all. I can't even imagine what the parts costs will be to put some individuality in this line up. Hell, if I want a FXSTC, all I have to do is put forward controls and a wide glide front end on the 2018 Dyna Lowrider. See what I'm saying. The new Lowriders are currently suffering an identity crisis. There are things that the younger crowd complain about first and foremost, PRICE! Not only price of the bike but the price of the parts and service! I know we'll all contend that you get what you pay for, but that doesn't always stand true for younger people. First thing they think about is price not value. If I'm in my 20s with an average joe job that could afford me something a little extra I might shop around, even if I think I'm dead set at looking into Harley Davidson. Food for thought! This company has been around for over 115 years who am I to criticize the motor company? But I can't help but voice my concern. I hope this pulls them out of their slump.
Dyna was discontinued, Softail and Dyna lines merged.. some dynas are now softails, bc they have a monoschock.. at this point the consensus is the new softails are better. Can ride harder, corner better, oil cooled heads, I think they look better too.
Nice video, very professional, new Dany is not available yet in China, but in my oppinion I will not buy this new Dyna because for me it is just a smaller softtail.
Don't do it, the Street glide is a heavy unfun 840 lb sled to ride, I don't get the hype on them . I went from a fatboy to a Street glide and HATED IT! I regret letting my softail go. I sold the Street Glide. No going for a 17 streetbob. Live free.
GearinSuper I've rode a few street glides have owned a Road King the weight don't bother me. Time will tell what I end up with I will be test riding them more than once to find the bike that speaks to me?
It's hard to get a true feel for a bike unless you put at least 500m on it, in places that are hard tight and so on etc. I like the lighter bikes. Most people buy a heavy glide for looks and find out they don't enjoy it , just look how many are for sale. Chuckle. I have owned many bikes , and it's hard to beat a Dyna or a softail in any make. Ride free.
GearinSuper I've never been able to put on more than a couple miles on a bike before I bought it. But I agree with you it takes a while to get the feel for a bike. I have rode a few street glides and even though they weigh more than my Heritage they handle better I like the heritage seating position better though. I havent rode the new 2018 Heritage yet but I will be in a couple weeks.
But the 2017 model just LOOKS better. For my first Harley , I liked it. Traded it for a '19 Road King because I wanted one better suited for long distance travel. Vibration on '17 wasn't as bad as you make it out to be . The '18 has a bigger engine but smaller gas tank. Doesn't make sense. May as well have an 883 or 1200.
Damn...so weird looking at a naked tank on the Streetbob. I had a black denim 14 with the console on the tank like the 17 u rode first. So odd looking that way lol.
Richie sak definitely looks different. That bike was so smooth and I loved the power. Great bike man. The helmet is an older full-face and I can’t remember the model. Time for a new one! It was flipped cold!
Actually the bike kind of looks like a crossbones to me. It will be hard to get used too. I like the original stagered pipes and not sure about the wrapped forks. The streetbob is my favorite bike.
Of course it does, M8 Motor sounds too metric now, the 103 is the last of the true vibrating , true Harley sound, the Minenals won't agree. That's what Harley Davidson is counting on.
2018 model looks bold! i didn’t like it, it doesn’t look good, they simply stripped everything represents street bob from speedometer, two fuel caps , the ignition knop, the lines from the rear finder, and to compensate they think they can blind us with the 107 ??? and led light??? no thank you 2018 is a bad year for street bob it looks like a sportster from the rider position, and definitely hate the digital instruments, no soul , i have little faith in future models, maybe they will fit an electric motor next??
ive had a dyna and ive now got an m8 and there is nothing the dyna can do better than the m8 and with better mpg on the m8 you only lose about 20 miles on a tank the standard m8 beats my old dyna with a stage 1 easley take off and top end and the ride and handling are superb witch you need with all the twisty lanes and roads in the uk
New one look much much much better. Softails without rear suspension looks so cool and this is enough to beat dyna. 107 is a better engine, better chassis. Accept it guys. 😄
New bike just doesn't have the stylish attitude of the Dyna. Looks like a cheap Japanese metric, not a Harley Davidson. May as well buy a metric for half the price if that's the look hd is aiming for these days.
The new street bob is a bit like an unattractive lady. She can be intelligent, friendly be great with kids, have a good job, have everything going for her...but if she's ugly, well... Just sayin. Dyna for me 💪😎
Audio is terrible. I know what I done wrong in the full face now. One day I will have it all mastered!
Give me the 2018 with a 2017 gas tank and I’m set.
I really like the top of the 2017’s gas tank from the POV camera
2017 Street Bob all the way.

Get the Vanes and Hines fuel pack 3 and you can tune in your throttle control to your liking.
Great comparison, I just bought a 2007 Dyna Street Bob. Keep in mind you can always upgrade the shocks to make it smoother on the bumps.
Just bought a 2020 street bob a couple months ago after trading in my forty-eight. I absolutely love it... except the exhaust (of course that’s gotta go). Does it ride good on the highway?
Losing almost a gallon and a half of gas is my biggest gripe with the new model.
And this speedometer it's disgusting
So glad I bought my 2015 street bob. Love the dyna so much more than the newer model.
I have a soft spot for the StreetBob. I had one for a couple of years. Loved it!!!

Yes and his helmet was a lot quieter than mine. All that noise was from my modular helmet. Bad mic placement.
2018 softail street bob is the dyna killer. Like it or not. It's way better overall.
Dyna looks way cooler.....

2017 All they way!!
Hi,
Nice to see a comparison between the Dyna and Softail Street Bob.
Which one do you prefer?
I really like the dyna. It’s a pretty amazing bike. It definitely has some go go juice and was too smooth!
I want to say that the 2018's will eventually catch on with the younger demographic but the otd cost plus the amount of extra money needed to customize it pretty much negates that. It's a shame that Harley, just like their patrons, are becoming more and more homogenized
Are those the stock handlebars on the 2017 streetbob? If yes then whats the size?
i kinda have my eyes on the 2018 model , but i cant really see the huge difference between them too enough to think about the 2017 model....? maybe its because i hate chrome?
The older model looks much better. Harley should stick to the retro look, that's what keeps them unique
100% agree!!!
Being the same as every Harley before it makes it unique?

What do you think of the 2018 Street Bob as a first time Rider?
Daniel Padilla lii love it! It was my wife’s first Harley
@@WhenPigsFlyHigh Thank you! This was very helpful!
The 1st StreetBob was a 88ci. Not 95ci. I just stroked and bored mine to 107ci. It was the only 88ci bike Harley made with a 6 speed trans.
Raymond Gonzalez let me rephrase that. The 06 DYNA was the only 88ci w/ a 6 speed.
Sorry for asking that, but whats the difference between a dyna and a softail??
Dyna is better

A great GREAT video. I really enjoyed it.
I dont ride motorcycle but why do you have to wait to go over a certain rpm ? What kind of damage would it do ?
The street Bob started with an 88 cubic in twin cam.
Dyna looks so much better.
I got the last 2017 street bob this December. 2018 is not my style
Completely understand. I think I like the gas tank on the 17’s better.
I was just trying to figure out why I like the looks of the 17 more than the 18. Maybe it's the tank. Great video, liked and subbed. Peace
Full face helmet Doug??? Which one ya rockin?
I am probably going to be trading my Heritage in soon on a street glide but man the new Heritage is sure tempting?

You all going to hsve to redo the heritage softail and the road king in the 2018s for a side by side again
Is that the new helmet that has the heater in front of your mouth i know there nice when its snowing
Whats the name of the music playing when you are sitting at the fireplace?
I keep hearing the rear brakes on 2018 is garbage. What's your take on that?
Honestly, I am a huge fan of the 2017's but I didn't notice anything odd about the brakes on the 2018. Thank you for the question!
its the only thing i dont like about mine thay are crap
At last which is better the street bob 2017 or 2018?
Jeevish Jeevish I definitely like the looks of the 17 better. The 18 was a very nice ride though!
FYI been awhile...but I traded my 16 SB for.a 18 SG month ago 200 miles still new..what sucks it's back in storage till march😭
That does suck! Congratulations on the new bike! Summer will be here in the blink of an eye! (Wishful thinking). Lol
I wonder if the fuel tank and headlight from the softail slim would fit on the street bob ? that would be a killer combo for me

2017 looks and sounds better
Jeff Malz I 100 percent agree. They ruined a beautiful bike. Why would they change it? Vary upsetting.

Of course it does, M8 Motor sounds too metric now, the 103 is the last of the true vibrating , true Harley sound, the Minenals won't agree. That's what Harley Davidson is counting on.
all the way!
I think the 18 looks better.

2007 Street Bob!! But out of these 2, the 2017.
Never rode a 18 + street bob but I have looked at them.. I like my 16 street bob better. Mainly because of the gas tank..
Same!
does it suit big sized guys? streetbob
I am 6’2 260. Its very comfortable to me as long as I have forward controls.
Alright!. Thanks alot. Was gonna get a streetbob.
Lee Teck Yu great choice!
Is that 2017 all stock?
Michael Bryce yes
What about the handlebar, riser and grips?
OMAGOD OMAGOD !
It isnt until until someone kills off something that you realize how much wanted it
Dyna all the way!!!
scott2228 same here!
I want both😊
I like the 2017 better
17' looks better and sounds better. Not into the new M8 hype. Riding a M8 (if you could do it blind folded) you'll swear you're riding a Yamaha.
I like the 17 too. My M8 RKS feels good to me though. Especially after I put the 16” bars on. Feels like a HD
Are you hand holding your camera? What camera?
Yes Sir I am. I have it on a Jobe mount. It is a Cannon T6I.
Going by looks alone the the 17 blows away the 18.
That 2 minute intro
cody crowston sorry bro
Mango and pineapple comparison, both fruit, but different taste....
Yes Sir! Agreed
New one look much much much better. Softails without rear suspension looks so cool and this is enough to beat dyna. 107 is a better engine, better chassis. Accept it guys. 😄
2017 dyna street bob is real
Two completely different animals
Jason Yes they are! I like them both!
My 2020 Softail Standard is like a hybrid of these 2...
2018 and on look like yamaha's or Japanese. Love the American classic look of the old dynas..
Lmao I didn’t know samwell Harley rode harleys??? 😂😂😂
New bike just doesn't have the stylish attitude of the Dyna. Looks like a cheap Japanese metric, not a Harley Davidson. May as well buy a metric for half the price if that's the look hd is aiming for these days.
I didnt like the 2018 Gas tank
I like the 17 much better too.
Last of the dyna, not of fan of 2k18
YUP . .. was about to say - the audio is reaaaaal bad :(
Can not hear much . . . and the American accent does not help.
Jack P. Walker lol! I can fix the audio. Not sure about the accent 😂
Snooorrrrreeeeee
B Murph c-mon!
It wasnt the review. It honesty was meatball's banter that zonked me out, just to much talk I guess.
B Murph haha! Thank you for your honesty.
You can keep the new street bobs. Let the millenniums ride them
Bad sound, shame. Thanks
I know. The sound sucks. I have it fixed in my newer videos.
Unfortunately ( for me ) I do not have much tolerance for advertisements. So I will not be subscribing.
Thanks for the honesty! I wouldn’t want you too. I just want you to be happy. 😬
Can’t hear a word
Good golly...your audio sux
Jeffery johnson I know! Please watch my last video. I fixed it. Got a new video coming out tonight. 2018 Fat Bob and 2018 Fat Boy.
Harley really destroyed their lineup with 2018. Disappointing. Lucky I got a 2002 lol
You want "Smooth" buy a Honda. Want to race? Buy a V-Max. That's not a Harley.
CORRECT the bike is smooth and fast for a harley.
The new street bob is a bit like an unattractive lady. She can be intelligent, friendly be great with kids, have a good job, have everything going for her...but if she's ugly, well... Just sayin. Dyna for me 💪😎
