Definitely an unbelievable track. Just shows you that Matt still is at the top of his game in song writing. This album was hated on pretty hard by some muse fans, which is nothing new since black holes honestly. Lol. But I think this album has some truly both beautiful and hardcore songs in there discography. Going from Kill or be killed to a song like Verona. Both masterpieces and so different at the same time. This is why Muse is still my favorite band. No one writes music like them!!
> which is nothing new since black holes honestly. Lol. Lmao yeah, I remember what that album dropped and people RAGED at how they sold their soul and is now a pop band. Every song was trash, ESPECIALLY STARLIGHT. Now it's a cult rock album and with OoS concidered one of the best rock albums ever.
Matt has said that Muse knows their fans are roughly 3-5 years behind when it comes to their music. They drop an album, hear all of the hate, and then 3-5 years later, the fans realize how good it is.
When people say "Muse doesn't write good music anymore" I just don't get it. Kill or Be Killed and Verona are in my top 15 Muse songs of all-time. Verona may be top 3. Verona MAY actually be my favorite. It's just gorgeous and perfect. Absolutely agree with pretty much everything you said about this track.
Kill or be killed, Verona, We are fucking fucked, WSD and Ghosts are all amazing songs. The italian duette made Ghosts even better. Before that, on Simulation Theory we had The Dark Side, Blockades, The Void and algorithm being absolute bangers. I personally love both Propaganda and BITM as well, but I can understand why some people might not :D Drones is also FULL of bangers. Muse never stopped making great music. They just kind of stopped making music with the classic eerie Muse feeling. Some people miss it, I really do, but we still have their old stuff.
Interesting, I don't see the good part of Verona apparently. I mean it's somewhat ok, but not more. Very repetitive, not really much happens. Just seems to rely on production alone. Luckily there's some other songs on the album that I quite enjoy.
Matt Bellamy is like a blend between the late David Bowie and the late Freddie Mercury. His voice is madly glorious and then his songwriting and guitar/piano playing is exquisite. Favourite band of all time, I think, since Freddie and the Starman departed for the universe. Loved your review.
Yup agree 100% this and Ghost 2nd!! When Matt sang this live in Houston Tx I was crying!!! Goosebumps all over too. Such an unforgettable night. I also thought of Stranger Things when first heard this song. Also, I love how in the video the two dancers NEVER touched. Masterpiece.
That was the hardest part of the pandemic for so many people to have to endure, being prohibited the most basic human need of the touch of a loved one. This was like a river of emotion, and those dancers deserve kudos for their ability to capture the longing even while costumed in heavy clothing and with masks covering their faces.
Not goosebumps but Musebumps I am a hard core fan and this song is one of my favorite slow song and we had it in Stade de France in July and the crowd cried
So glad you loved this one too, this is def one of my favorites off of the album. The chord progression with the synths and reverbed-out drums hits me the same way it does to you. It's such a special song, & I remember the first time I heard it, I got a feeling of "Old Muse" from it, which is strange since as of rn it's one of their newest. Definitely a song that will stay close to me throughout life
I love this band, live they are untouchable seen them around 50 times. Matt vocals and musicianship are the best there out there. Nice reaction to an epic but l think quite sad song.
Such a great concept and song . Reminds me so much of 1984 where poor wilsons only crime is to fall in love in dystopian world where its forbidden. He gets sent to a reeducation camp where the only chance of leaving is to be broken and love only big brother ( the state )
I loved your reaction, so wholesome. Im crazy in love with this song and basically anything that Muse delivers is worth listening to and be amazed by it. Whether they “change” or not, they always have amazing music and its what makes them eternal! Will watch the rest of your reaction vids lol
I love seeing how emotional you got listening to this ❤ I’m a huge Muse fan, my favourite band ever, I’m into the heavy stuff, but, this track is so beautiful it makes me cry 😢
Every Muse´s song makes me feel so much, but this track is amazing! I feel like a hug whenever I hear it and also Matt's voice makes you feel every part of the lyrics and the emotion it should transmit and also with that melody makes you feel so much peace, I just love it!
Those who hate this song & album not a true muse fan. Been a fan since the 1st album. its not like some other album but its still great , thats what make muse so special , they dare to give something different but still same.
haven’t watched it yet, busy rn, merry christmas! make sure to do these other songs from muse Reapers (Live From Cologne) Invincible (Live At Wembley Stadium)
a lot of songs Sing for absolution, Fury, unintended, Megalomania live from royal albert hall london, and above all Hyper kondriac music incredible music, amazing music
Hey can you do some older Biffy songs ?? Theres an entire catalog of magic there you have yet to discovere. 57 and Questions and Answers are my recommendations!
Hey thanks for the comment! I definitely will get there. I recently made a decision to blast through some albums in full, as with doing song reactions here and there, as a reactor, sometimes it takes me over a year to get through an album. So I'll be finishing up Myth of the Happily Ever After and then will get to the older ones
It's awesome to see such a reaction, bless you! You might enjoy map of the problematique since you enjoyed this. Different songs, but I love them for the same reasons.. Edit, I saw that you've listened to that album so never mind. In that case try 'Down Side of me' by Chvrches 😊
I was 13 in 1970 and a music fanatic since I was 7. Piano, drums, vocals. Have you listened to much classic rock, grunge, blues, etc.? I love most music from James Taylor to Zepp. I was very into the Foo Fighters when the first cd dropped. I heard Dave Grohl pretty much recorded it alone. "X-static" is one of my favs. I know a lot of bands and songs that fly under the radar, if you're interested.
Matt is always toying with double-meanings. Yes, the song was specifically written with Covid in mind, but "take off your mask" can 100% also be taken metaphorically, such as the line "your beauty is not just a mask" in Undisclosed Desires.
Definitely an unbelievable track. Just shows you that Matt still is at the top of his game in song writing. Some Muse fans just want origin of symmetry each album. I'd prefer what they do which is invention and new styles.
Great post

Definitely still nowhere near their best song like not even top 100

Agreed. It's so atmospheric. Beautiful sounding and lyrics

This song is truly beautiful and im glad to have seen this a few times during the 2023 Will of the People. Really strikes a chord with the crowd!!
The two lovers in the video never touch each other until the last seconds
I felt the same man…
I loved your reaction, so wholesome. Im crazy in love with this song and basically anything that Muse delivers is worth listening to and be amazed by it. Whether they “change” or not, they always have amazing music and its what makes them eternal! Will watch the rest of your reaction vids lol
