2 stacked spacers would give you high end with drivability issues in the low end, goal isn’t just volume but where the volume goes and eliminating volume where it isn’t needed for better throttle response, the oem upper plenum is not perfect but it’s improving on a piece all of our cars have already
Do yourself a favor when you do the rear main, lower the upper oil pan for an easy install. ;) I plan on taking a spare upper plenum to school (i'm in welding) and welding a 3.25" elbow onto it. But cast aluminum is a different beast, it would need thorough cleaning with Tig rig to burn out impurities & porosity. But I'm seeing a lot of companies cutting those 4 outer bolt sections out, and welding in flat metal, so it seems like it shouldn't be too difficult.
Joe, I really liked what you did with the upper plenum. I did something similar without taking off the posts. I also did the lower plenum in reshaping the horns and making them much thinner. Thus I gained more volume and better aerodynamic flow going into the horns. It definitely made a noticeable difference especially above 4.5 K rpms.
