    I hand ported and polished the upper and lower plenum. I nearly removed 1/16 of an inch from all the flat surfaces. The Throttle tunnel and 6 intakes was widened and polished. The 6 nostrils were thin out extensively and reshaped for better air flow. I did not cut any supports just thinned and polished. Bottom Line: Seat of the Pants Dyno says better Rev Up to Red Line. This is something that takes a lot of time and patience. You will be rewarded by your hard work.

      @@mfn1077 Mostly it's just common sense and a lot of careful hard work. You can use handheld grinders, wire wheel, flap sander wheels, and hand sanding. Remove the material slowly with the different tools. Make sure you don't mar the mating surfaces otherwise you will create a vacuum leak. Being OCD will help you in doing a miticulas job. Expect to spend more than 5 hours if you want professional results. This is something you can't rush.

    When I start dropping some videos, one of the mods I've always wanted to do is extending the plenum neck.

    • @JoeVazquez
      @JoeVazquez  2 года назад

      2 stacked spacers would give you high end with drivability issues in the low end, goal isn’t just volume but where the volume goes and eliminating volume where it isn’t needed for better throttle response, the oem upper plenum is not perfect but it’s improving on a piece all of our cars have already

  • @jellofuel
    @jellofuel 2 года назад +1

    Do yourself a favor when you do the rear main, lower the upper oil pan for an easy install. ;)
    I plan on taking a spare upper plenum to school (i'm in welding) and welding a 3.25" elbow onto it. But cast aluminum is a different beast, it would need thorough cleaning with Tig rig to burn out impurities & porosity. But I'm seeing a lot of companies cutting those 4 outer bolt sections out, and welding in flat metal, so it seems like it shouldn't be too difficult.

      Hi, I also have an 06 G35 sedan like the one in my profile picture, and it sounds to me like you have a engine sensor issue. Did you scan the computer with an OBD scanner? If not, or you don't have one, most auto parts stores like Advance Auto and O' Reillys will usually scan your car for free. It sounds like it is either a crankshaft position sensor or one of the camshaft sensors. I know because my G35 sedan has literally turned off while driving before b/c one of the cam sensors was on its way out. I also had slip, vdc and a check engine light from the cam and crank sensor issue. I hope this helps :)

It was tuned by SOHO Motorsports in NC they are local to me. They gave it all it had it made 270 crank!!!! I was absolutely fed up with it. I spend around 8k in the car from proformace and looks vq35de motors are reliable as they get but you will NEVER make power without going all in and spending at LEAST 13k for a turbo setup and supporting mods! And all that motor will hold is 400! You will need to spend around 35k to make 600 and it keeps climbing That's a FACT!

      @@jaydehart2170 I have a VQ35DE 6 speed Maxima and I ended up switching back to the stock air box with a custom snorkel that goes down under the car due to under hood temps. on hot central Florida days the hot air under the hood would effect engine performance with a basic open element filter under the hood. I also ditched the engine cover and insulation on the under side of the hood to help with under hood temps...

      Hey, let me know when you get one; if you can do an upper and lower plenum where both are ported, polished, and welded then I’d be interested and I could send you my stock one back as part of the negotiation agreement with the pricing for your labor to do so. I’m in South Florida, what about you?

    I thought the most restrictive part in a G35/350z was the cats? 🤔

    • @JoeVazquez
      @JoeVazquez  2 года назад +1

      My original idea for the title was suppose to have underrated after most and before restrictive but it just didn’t have a zing to it so I dropped it. Cats are well known but I was trying to show what isn’t as popular to talk about and modify

      There’s other mods I’d do before doing this, it’s a good topper mod similar to what a lightweight driveshaft is in that regard! Doing the upper plenum just maximizes everything else around kinda how working out everything not just one part of your body!

      Have a plenum spacer already my guy, and it’s about maximizing the parts you have already. They do add power whether you believe it or not

      There’s dyno proven videos and info by actual reputable shops and people so I cannot believe what you say I’m sorry. I know people with ported plenums personally and it made a difference on their dyno before and after aswell. It’s a known problem that Sasha tried solving with different ways. Is this the best version, no but it’s using what you already have, keeping it oem looking in case you live in California, and opening up everything on the inside
