  • The entire territory of Yamal is covered with tundra. Indigenous peoples of the North - the Khanty, Nenets, Komi and Selkoups - live in its boundless snowy steppes. About 18 thousand people lead the traditional lifestyle. Like their ancestors, they are busy with hunting, fishing and reindeer breeding. What makes people in the XXI century lead the nomadic life in tundra? Why don't they move to villages and towns? Why do young people come back to the choum instead of building their future in comfortable apartments? We will try to answer these and other questions in our video.
