    I previously had the variations and now have the m5e. I find the m5e much better for my preferences and sounds better to me. To me, the variations sounded shouty and unrefined.
    I previously had a sold the sa6 mk2 too, maybe better than the variations for me, but quite disliked it tuning. The m5e sounds better than both to my ears.
    This hobby is very subjective though, ultimately.

      Thanks for sharing your experience! I understand what you mean-everyone has different sensitivities, preferences, and ear anatomies, which I fully respect. That’s why I still believe this IEM is great and could be even better for those who love it.
      To me, the Variations sound perfect from a tonality perspective, but I understand that some people find Harman tuning shouty or unrefined. This is completely okay. I’m glad you like the Mega5est.
      Regarding the SA6 MK II, opinions are definitely divided. I personally love it, as it offers more detail retrieval for me than the Mega5est. Ultimately, it's all about finding what sounds best to your ears. The best part of this hobby is its subjectivity; otherwise, it would be so boring. 🙂

    I have these, the tuning is like you’ve described with regards to the bass, however I get zero sibilance. I recommend Divinus Velvet tips.
    I like them as an extended listen IEM, but I do typically prefer more vocal forward presentation or neutral sounding sets like the Butastur.
    The Mega 5 EST pair well with the Hiby R4.
    Oh, and detail levels are quite good. They can just be hidden a bit by the bass tuning. I did find this varied with amplification. The R4 sounds much better than the Qudelix.

    • @Atechreviews
      @Atechreviews  3 месяца назад

      Hello, thanks for sharing! The sibilance is not easily noticeable depending on the ear tip used (I used the wide bore tips) and is a minor concern. I find them excellent for extended listening sessions as they never become fatiguing. However, like you, I prefer a more prominent vocal presence; vocals are crucial to my listening experience, more so than the bass. While the detail level is impressive, it can be slightly overshadowed by the bass, which is the main focus of these IEMs. Considering the price, I expected a bit more detail retrieval, but overall, they are still a great pair of IEMs. I will try them with Divinus Velvet Tips and R4.

    I'm proud owner of the Studio SA6 Mk2 (had to decide between mega5est, SA6 and Hype4) and I find the bass astoningshly good (it's on par with my MP145 planar).
    And according to Dunu there are 2 VENTED Sonion BAs for bass. So there are BAs out there that are vented :-).
    Btw the Dunus seal my ears perfectly as if they were tucked in or full custom molded - never had such a perfect seal on any iem.
    But great review!

    • @Atechreviews
      @Atechreviews  Месяц назад +1

      The SA6 MK II is one of my all-time favorite IEMs. The bass is astonishing, probably due to its two vented BA woofers that allow for greater excursion, resulting in incredible sound. I also agree about the fit; it's like an almost custom mold, making it one of the best fits I've ever experienced.

    I was initially underwhelmed by the M5E. But it grew on me a lot, to the point where it's my favorite IEMs. I did a ton of tip rolling, and found 4 tips that work really well. The Eletech Baroque Tips, NF Audio MS42 tips, Fiio HS18 Tips, and Tanchjim T-APB Wide Bore tips. For my money, the NF Audio MS42 tips work the best. I dont get the hype train with these. They have bad trebles- if you boost trebles after 11-12k, the peaks will appear as sibilants earlier in FR. Ive had this problem with the u12t which were unlistenable on higher volumes.
    Why would anyone bother with any of these new releases when the Variations exist and they have immaculate tuning?

    • @Atechreviews
      @Atechreviews  2 месяца назад +2

      I don't understand the hype surrounding these either. The sound is a bit dark. I think people have different preferences. However, in my opinion, the Variations still reign supreme in this price range and driver configuration. I haven't seen any IEM surpass it yet at its price point and driver configuration. While I hope for an alternative at a lower price point, it hasn't happened yet.

    Does the Aful Explorer sound warmer and darker compared to the Mega5est? I liked the Mega5est but the price was a slight turn off. If the Aful has a similar neutrality and flat signature with that bass boost, might just get that!

    • @Atechreviews
      @Atechreviews  3 месяца назад +2

      The difference lies in the Explorer being slightly darker in the upper treble and slightly less vocal-forward compared to the Mega5est. However, the Explorer's intimate-sounding vocals compensate for this difference, making the vocal difference less noticeable unless you directly compare them.

    Hi AT do you have experience with the HIFIMAN ARYA ORGANIC , I wonder would it sound better than the Variation or some higher end IEMs ? Thank You . I Appreciated and enjoyed all your videos reviews on IEMs , very honest reviews with good detail and comparison cheers.

    • @Atechreviews
      @Atechreviews  Месяц назад +2

      Thanks for the kind words. I've spent a lot of time with the HiFiMAN Arya Organic, and it's easily one of the best headphones I've ever heard, after STAX. In my comparisons, it sounds wider than Dan Clark's Expanse and better to my ears than many some Audeze models, aligning perfectly with my preferences. For me, it's a true endgame headphone, offering significantly higher sound quality than the HD800s and most high-end IEMs.
      Its soundstage is expansive, with exceptional width, layering, and depth. The imaging is phenomenal, and it delivers outstanding detail and clarity. The sound feels real and lifelike-I can almost visualize where each element of the music originates with great clarity.
      While some IEMs may have superior detail retrieval, they can't match the lifelike presentation of the Arya Organic. In my experience, it sounds much better than the Moondrop Variations in terms of detail and everything else. Other IEMs like the DUNU Glacier, Elysian IEMs, and Anole VX may offer more detail, but in terms of pure sound quality, the Arya Organic stands head and shoulders above any IEM I've encountered.
      However, enjoying the Arya's sound requires a quiet environment. Background noise, like a fan or AC, can affect the sound. IEMs, with their noise isolation and proximity to the ear drums, often excel in detail retrieval. Additionally, the Arya Organic benefits greatly from a quality amplifier and isn't designed for portability.
