This video was very hard to watch. This happened to my family. We kids were sleeping in beds with cat urine and fecal matter, and our carpets were full of fleas. We had no hot water and had to boil it on the stove to wash ourselves. My mother was an orphan who suffered from abuse and neglect in her own life and eventually turned to alcohol, as did my father, to cope with stress. Thanks to people like yourself, we were assisted in various ways (house cleaning by church friends, cats were removed by an aunt, new transportation was donated, etc.) and slowly my parents got back on track. They spent the last 20 years of their lives sober, happy, and in control. What you do matters! (Adding a note here because several people have asked about the cats. We had about 25 cats when feline leukemia broke out and a majority of the cats got quite sick. My aunt paid a veterinarian to come to the house while we kids were at school and he fixed and vaccinated the cats who could be saved, and euthanized those who could not. It was one of the worst days in my life, but it was a huge help to my parents and it was all done with the best intentions.)
That's amazing to hear. Sorry you lived in such horrible conditions, but so glad your parents were able to turn things around. For their sake as well as yours. ❤
OMG so sorry you've had to go through that horrible condition as a child, now I'm sure you are a great strong person with a brave heart. Praise God your parents are sober and your family is healed 💕
This was me in 2015. I'd finally managed to escape an extremely abusive relationship. Whilst my ex was at work, I got my 3 babies together, packed a few suitcases, and left. We had nowhere to go, so we were homeless for a while, then we got a spot in a women's refuge. My health was at an all-time low, I desperately needed surgery (my ex broke my jaw and smashed all my teeth, but I wasn't allowed to seek medical treatment at the time, so my entire facial structure was a mess) and I became addicted to opioids (pills) because I was always in so much pain. I managed to rent us a house, and that's when I completely broke down. At my worst, I didn't sleep for 3 weeks straight, so I'd started hallucinating - it was bad. Our house ended up exactly like this one, bar the cat related issues, as we didn't have any pets. Even though I was finally free, I wasn't free from the trauma, and it brought me to my knees. My kids suffered greatly, and I don't think I'll ever forgive myself for that. One of my neighbours could see that I had totally spiralled, so she made me accept her help to clean up the house (she was Swedish, and very persistent lol.) We got it done over a weekend, and things started looking up. I sought help for my mental health, and my insomnia issues. I eventually got myself off the opiates and also got the surgery I needed, then I went on to move and get a great job. It was a long road, but I got there. These days, I sleep well, I clean, I garden, I paint, and I live my life everyday with the goal of doing everything I can to support my kids; they are who I get out of bed for. I'm just about to go back to full-time work after a hiatus, and I no longer live in a waking nightmare. I have hope. The point is, people often think that once someone is out of a bad situation, that's it - they're fine. A lot of people didn't understand why I had a complete breakdown *after* I got out. What we don't talk about enough is the aftermath; the after effects of traumatic experiences, the fear, the energy it takes to push through that fear, the nightmares, the stress, the hopelessness, and what it actually takes to get back on one's feet after living in abject misery and fear for years. We don't always just bounce back, sometimes we land even further down the gutter. It takes monumental effort to escape abuse, and we're often left absolutely empty once we go through getting out. It takes time to build those energy reserves back up, and in the meantime, everything can - and often does - fall apart. It's wonderful to know that there are people out there who are empathetic enough to look beyond the overwhelming mess in front of them, to see into what the problem really is, and to just help. We all need a little help sometimes.
@Christy Zee Aquarianated - 👍👍👍👍👍 Thank you. You put into words what I could not, of my own experience. I too was abused by my violent Mom as I grew up and later in a violent marriage. I left the marriage every year for 5 years but would be physically dragged back. After 5 years I finally was able to get over 360 miles (580 kms) away. Far enough he couldn't find me. Before that I didn't have a vehicle and his was always locked with the key in his pocket. He was also a light sleeper. That was back in the 50-70s with my Mom (my brother and sister say they don't remember "that") and 70s with my husband. Anyone I went to for help would tell him where I was when he phoned or dropped by. He keeps harassing them or playing the pity card over and over again till they give in. I'm sure they thought they were helping, even though I told them what he was doing to me. People, even family and friends, really do not want to be involved and when confronted will give up information to avoid being harassed by an aggressive person or even if they find him to be a GREAT guy, best buds, right. Makes it hard for them to believe he is so violent towards you. Even if you end up in the hospital. He down plays it or right out says it was your fault. Who are your friends and family to believe. They don't want anything to do with figuring out who is telling the truth between a nice guy and an obviously "upset" female. A female who is in shock from what has happened and in fear she will be found. Found and be taken back into the place of abuse. BUT you put a lot of my feelings and behaviour into words that I am unable to express. Once you are out nothing is fine. You are no longer fine. You are soooo broken. It is PTSD. We are just learning what that is and still don't know how to fix it or how to deal with it. Survivors just have to 'deal' with it. Your mind will not stop trying to 'deal' with it, figuring it out; how do you avoid it happening again. How to live with the nightmares. How to you silence or stop the memories that play over and over again in your mind no matter what you are doing or where you are. You are never safe from your memories or "out" of there. in you mind. Just like happy memories that pop up at any time, the nightmare memories do too. Good memories are triggered by the darnedest things. So are bad memories. Something so simple as seeing a happy couple definitely brings up THOSE memories and couples are everywhere, all the time. Memories are next to impossible to forget and it takes time to be at peace with them. This is how your day plays out. Every day. For years. Thank you for your words, Christy. They helped me.

Anyone complaining about using too much water/product has never smelt a home like this, of course you dont want to hose your house down everyday if it's not built to do so, but over cleaning a house in this condition is a good thing, you want to knock out as much bacteria as you possibly can, and even have some fun with bubbles because keeping good mental health through a clean like this is just as important. So happy we have people like you in the world to help families and people to move on from hard times.
The people complaing about how she cleans. The water etc are just the sillest people. Its maddening how petty and stupid people can be. They need to stay in their own life and just get lost!! Of course you need a lot of product and water to clean these places. Its a once of industrial super clean!!!! She does such a wonderful job. So happy these children can have a better home♥️
Yeah, some people just have to chime in with their opinion about how they know better and are smarter. I'd rather over-index a bit and ensure it's clean and sanitized, than under-apply water and cleaner. This woman clearly knows what she's doing, and she produces some amazing results with some pretty overwhelming conditions that would daunt even many of the most hardened cleaning experts. And you can imagine what most of these places smell like!
Just want this mom to know the first and hardest step is getting help. You got you and your children out of an abusive house, You've stopped drinking, your house is clean. I just turned 31 yesterday. I also have three kids here (twin boys and a girl) and one in heaven. It's 9 years this month that my first daughter passed (Nov 8th). I think people were commenting on wooden cabinets and such, saying that there was too much water being thrown on wooden cabinets. Aurii mentioned that. She said it was okay if you do it once, the potential damage won't be noticable and stuff needs to be cleaned. Nevertheless, new people will notify her about the treatment of wooden cabinets and whether or not you should pour water on it.
For those people who criticize Auri (using too much water or products, if she says trashes or squeewee...) DO BY YOURSELF EVERYTHING SHE DOES FOR FREE AND THEN COME BACK TO SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT. GET A LIFE!! She's an AMAZING PERSON who do incredibly work and literally she saves someone's life by giving a new fresh start!

Zita, you don’t know that. Auri has heard back from people she has helped telling her they have kept their home clean. And saving someone’s life can be metaphorical and not literal. This kind of negativity is unnecessary. If everyone had that attitude then no one would ever help people in need and nothing would change. People need hope, a fresh start and help in order to change. Yes, it might get dirty again, but that doesn’t negate any of the effort made to help someone. Sometimes change happens gradually and a person needs a lot of help. My mom tried to quit smoking seven times. Even though she started again 6 times she never gave up and we encouraged her every time.
I miss her saying squeegee. English is not her first language so it never bothered me. I thought it was cute and even started pronouncing it like she does. Her attitude gives me so much joy.

She 100% had the drive to change, ya'll are just ignoring that to arbitarily force her into a box based purely off your predisposed beliefs towards this sort of thing. Using "big words" doesn't make me intellegent, but you two ignoring the nuance in this situation doesn't make you right either. 5. Calling someone out for dogmatic responses to complicated issues that should be taken on a case by case basis does not make it so that I'm basing my arguement on dogmatic beliefs. This persons whole "It'll just get trashed again" spiel is absolutely something I see all the time and is a dogmatic response to all situations like this regardless of context. 6. I find it interesting that you specified "someone who isn't motivated to change and doesn't put effort in" , implying that this logic applies to this case. When the latter is lying and the former is something you not only failed to prove but then ignored the blatant contradictions to in this case. When you told and showed us that the woman who lives there had cleaned the other bathroom herself after you'd done all the other cleaning, I cried. I know from my own experience what it's like to finally get a little energy to do things because others have helped and brought some hope.
My house looks like this and I am binge watching your video for motivation. Within a span of 2 years my dad had a stroke and a heart attack I was trying to take care of him, but I had school, then I was diagnosed with ADHD and a bad Hoarding habit. I was so scared about my dad I stress ate, put my physical and mental health and my home on the back burner I have already cleaned half of the rooms in my house thanks to you! My first room I cleaned was my cleaning closet so then that became SO useful when cleaning the other rooms!
Congrats!!!!! Somehow the first couple of rooms are the most difficult so good on you! I bet it's so satisfying to walk into a previously messy space and appreciate how nice you've since cleaned it.
Daniel I'm just wanting to check in and see how you're doing. I know it will come in waves of feeling overwhelmed, but don't give up! You can do it. Just remember, it didn't happen overnight and you won't fix it overnight. Take it a day at a time, or as they say..how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. You've got this!

It's great that you can see the positive side.... Hearing that this is two children under the age of ten were living brought out nothing but anger in me. That itself is abuse.... to have 2 children living in that mess.... It is absolutely shocking that the care that you would feel for your children would not be enough to make her clean the house..... @@jamesjackson5020 she was most likely depressed and you never know her children could of been one of her motivation to ask for help it would of been real abuse if she continued to have her children live like that moms are allowed to go through harsh times and her mental health was declining but at the end of the day she asked for help and she even cleaned up the other bathroom I know her and her kids are doing just fine and obviously let’s hope her and her kids don’t have to live like that again any time soon.

The energy that this woman brings with her cleaning these peoples home can only influence them to be just as, if not more positive and productive. Replacing the children's mattresses was a desperate plus. As I'm confused as to why the cats chose to urinate in their beds.
This video really "hits home" for me. I remember growing up in a house like this one. We had three cats though. I would constantly go without food or hot water. And there was urine and excrement from the cats everywhere. Even in the shower. I couldn't have friends round, I stank constantly. To this day my mum still lives like this. We had manyyy people come and help us. But it never stuck. I'm almost 24yrs old now. And I struggle with keeping a clean home. I've suffered from psychosis for almost 5yrs now. And am finally coming out the other end. Thankfully I haven't let it get to this level in a few years now (after moving out of my mums) but it's still not tidy. Now that I'm coming out the other side, I'm getting better at cleaning. And one of my goals for this year is to keep a tidy flat. I'm putting on your video today as cleaning motivation. So that over the next week I can get my place to a point where all I have to do is KEEP it tidy. Rather then doing a lot at once. I know for some people your help can be inspiring. I appreciate the non-judgement, but I am still worried for the children's physical and mental well-being. I really hope the mother gets all the support she needs to provide a healthy and safe environment. Thank you for doing this. The mattress situation nearly broke my heart. I have two boys (4 and 7) and sometimes I feel guilty about cleaning when I should spend time with them or I feel guilty for not cleaning enough. Being a mom is always hard, but this was really tough to see.
Being a single mom is crushing. Yes you are filled with guilt cause someone is raising your child. While you work your ass off to make ends meet. Then when you get home you are exhausted. Barely have enough energy to make food for your kids and your self. Then, if you decide you want to spend more time with kids time at work slows and so does money and do you are destitute. It’s a vicious cycle of chaos, work, rush rushrush rush. Not sure how but I found a husband who is the best provider and I get to spend what little time o have left with my son before he goes off to college.
I grew up in a similar situation. Thank you for helping these kids! I wish someone like you had come to our apartment growing up. They will remember this the rest of their lives ❤
These videos are both hard and uplifting to watch. I went through a brief period like this when I was 20 and my kids 6m and 18m. My home never got this bad but it was bad enough, I was alone, so very broken from the trauma of a violent relationship with my kids dad and literally catatonic most of the time. I didn’t even drink or take drugs, I think I just went into shock. No one came to help me and watching you help these people moves me to tears and inspires me to do the same, because I know, I remember how it felt - what you’re doing is so special. Thank you! To anyone watching and judging these people… I hope that you never know the agony of losing yourself in this way.
I went through that too when I escaped an abusive situation while pregnant and with a 7 year old. I'm glad you escaped, and you're right no one should be judging unless they walked a mile in their shoes.
Yes. When I look at these houses I cringe and shake my head. When you hear the "Stories" behind these houses it's heartbreaking but they are doing their best to change for the better. Asking for help is something that alot of folks still have a problem with. The Bible says Pride Goeth Before A Fall.
Catatonia.. Thanks for telling me. I had no idea how to describe what happened to me when I left an abusive situation. I was severely catatonic for at least two weeks. I wouldnt eat or drink or move. I wouldnt even change positions in bed. I would stare silently at the wall for days. Sounds crazy looking back but in my head it took everything for me to drink water after that. Its messed up but I recovered! and now Im with someone that is incredible. 😊
I wonder what the best way to offer help is? Because I’m a lot like Auri, and would LOVE to clean and organize for people, but I always find myself instead pretending that I don’t notice the mess so they don’t feel worse…😔💔
I don't know if you've heard this tip before but if you are cleaning a home with a lot of cat litter/urine scent everywhere, place a large mason jar of hot water and white vinegar in the room about an hour before you go in and leave it there while you clean. It helps neutralize the scent and makes a huge difference in air quality I swear
As someone who was a teacher for 20 years, thank you for helping these kids. I taught middle and high school kids, and it was amazing how many of them were in this kind of situation. One of my students told me he had no bed. Their apartment was filled with 8 mattresses and his parents rented them for 8 hours to anyone who could pay, so often he had nowhere to sleep because all the mattresses were rented. God help us. Also, great job on getting the kids mattresses. That's a GIANT help. Someone needs to keep checking on this family to keep the mom accountable. We didn't see the mom's room or bathroom, so I'm guessing she had to clean those herself. It's great that she cleaned her bathroom. This apartment was a health hazard, for sure, and the children deserve better.
@@16watch I have seen so many horrific things it left me with ptsd, and and I am not joking. My mother, too, was in education, and this week when I was over there we were talking about the nightmares we can't stop having, and we've both been out of the classroom for a decade.
Any time I want to clean but need a boost of motivation I watch these videos. Usually halfway through I get the urge to get up and clean!! ☺️ Then I sit down after, in a clean space, and watch the rest of the video. Makes me grateful I have the ability to be able to clean my space 🤍
I take a break in my work, and started watch this video. In the middle I had to stop it, because I needed to deep clean my cat's litter boxes. Motivation aproved ^^
This was my reality as a child... My mom's house was way worse. It still is. I'm now a 28 year old mom with my own house and responsibilities and I had to teach myself how to do everything after I moved out. I'm still learning better ways to do things because I refuse to let my children go through what I did.
@@ariannahwilder3982 I didnt have it this bad, but my family definetly liked to keep stuff instead of getting rid of it. As such I told my self to never allow my home to get into bad state, and I cleaned all the time so I had maticulous home, I didnt bring me happines, just stress. So from this prespective, I just want to advice you to sometimes give yourself a break, having mess doesnt eman you will become your mother, or your home becoming her house. :) Stay happy
@@mehwishasad5079 Your mother may be OCD which is just as bad. Be sure you keep yourself in check or you could become like her. It took time for me to be okay leaving a cup or plate in the sink before bedtime. Sounds silly but, unless you've been there, you may not understand how hard it was to train my brain to think it will not lead to hoarding.
My heart hurt for this family. To the dear mother, I hope you are proud of yourself for the two VERY DIFFICULT + BRAVE steps you have taken. First, leaving an abusive relationship and second, recognizing that drinking was not the healthiest way to deal with the pain. You are so strong and wise. What a lovely and understanding person you are. My son recently died through his depression, he had alcohol dependency, the only time he was happy when drinking. He was the kindest soul, never abusive. His end was horrific to say the least, his last words to me were "I'm so sorry mum". That broke my heart. His neighbours were like his brother and sister, their granddaughter is heartbroken her best friend is gone, they too are beyond sad. I thank you for your good 💖💓

Pets can be a huge comfort to people and especially children who cannot turn to an adult. It can be their only form of affection. To deprive them of that can lead to a very sad life of not being able to show or understand emotion. Alexithymia. Someone in the comments section has it.
@@georgielancaster1356 in this (and a lot of other cases with similar situations) it leads to the kids having to sleep in cat urine drenched mattresses and i am quote sure that the animals are not getting the proper care (food, changing litter boxes, medical visits) they should get. How is this good for the kids or the animals?
@@georgielancaster1356 give them stuffed animals. Actual pets are living, breathing beings with needs of their own. They do NOT exist solely to “provide comfort” that adults refuse to give their own kids. Don’t advocate for child neglect AND animal neglect wtf
@@georgielancaster1356 animals are not toys they’re a lifelong commitment just like children, if you or your children are unable to afford or clean up after the animal don’t get one. People especially kids can get comfort in other things like toys. I would not find comfort in a living thing if I knew I can’t properly take care of them and are forced to live in squalor. I would think they’re miserable and it makes me feel bad.
As a Mom of 2 with depression I appreciate this videos and you SO much. You deserve the world and beyond and i wish everyone in this situations can get the help they need cuz once in a while it gets to me too and I know how hard it gets!

Speaking as someone who struggles with hoarding tendencies, depression, and anxiety, you really can’t understand the depth of what an amazing person you are for helping people. For saving them. I’ve managed to turn my life around mostly, thanks to the help of people like you, and while my home isn’t perfect, it is in such a better state. If someone reading this is struggling, i know how embarrassing and disheartening it is, but please seek help. There is hope on the other side. It takes a lot of work, but i promise you it is worth it. My heart goes out to this mother and her children. No judgment here. I pray you were able to turn your life around.
Aurikatariina really is the best because she's there to HELP. not to shame the people into "doing better" she's here to help and provide a nice starting base. For many of us, cleaning the home alone is a major task. One that can seem impossible after a certain point. I say this with kindness and empathy, maybe the children should stay with relatives (temporarily) until the mother gets serious help for her depression. It's obvious she's overwhelmed and needs intervention but it's not fair to have young children living like that.
This reminds me so much of a girl I met in junior high and was friends with through high school. Her mother was al alcoholic and their home was almost exactly like this. Just garbage everywhere and her mother would throw everything everywhere. Most of her free time was spent cleaning up after her own mother. I felt so much for that sweet soul! She was determined to try to HELP her mother up until graduating from high school and needing to get her own life together. She joined the military, trained to be a nurse and now she is out with a job in a hospital. Her mother is pretty much still the same person, heavily drinking on a regular basis which is so sad but no one can help us if we won’t help ourselves. So thankful my friend had the strength to get away from her mother.
My Dad was a drinker. I would clean the place he lived with his girlfriend and her children. Every weekend it was back to being the same mess, the baby was dirty and in dirty clothing. I would take on the job of looking after the other kids and the cooking and cleaning. It was terrible. We were so vulnerable. Bad people hurt us because they could get away with it - we didn't have an adult or anyone to protect us when I was at my Dad's place. Thank you Auri for doing what you are doing. I just hope these children have people who will show up and look after them long-term, the mother needs a lot more help.

You have changed the trajectory of these children's lives. The mother also did by reaching out for help regardless of the shame. This is the best motivation for cleaning I've ever seen you are wonderful :-) and so are your helpers*also I have found enzymatic cleaners like bio klean, or any other brand specific to pet urine works amazing, even on items that can't be washed. It's also important to use so the cats don't return to the same areas

having been in abusive relationships, dealt with addiction and alcoholism myself, and just overal mental health issues, I am very impressed at both the mother for having the strength and determination to overcome and you for doing all you can to help give them that fresh start to help her keep moving forward
It's great that you can see the positive side.... Hearing that this is two children under the age of ten were living brought out nothing but anger in me. That itself is abuse.... to have 2 children living in that mess.... It is absolutely shocking that the care that you would feel for your children would not be enough to make her clean the house..... This poor woman was abused and suffered from alchoolism...and yet she had the strengh to leave with her kids, stopped drinking, and got help when she realised the situation was terrible for her kids... She is more deserving of praise than angry words

@@jamesjackson5020 I do understand, and it is very likely she was even more angry and disgusted with herself than you are at her....what is shocking is how deep trauma can go, and how debilitating it can be when you cannot break free from it....getting free from the abuser does not automatically free you from the abuse, it stays with you a while, in your thoughts and emotions, even physically draining you. add those unhealthy coping mechanisms, like addiction....sometimes it is the only way you can survive a thing, to make it to the other side. I would rather them have a memory of a few months of squalor than a trauma of mom's suicide and a life lived without her.

You have no idea what it’s like to go through abuse and have serious mental struggles as a result. And I know that because you wouldn’t have made that comment, otherwise. I do know what it’s like because I’ve worked with people who have been in this mother’s situation. When the brain is in crisis, parts of it can literally shut down to all external stimuli. There are many medical reasons why a person might not literally see what other people do. The fact this woman was able to find awareness on her own and ask for help on her own, is proof of how determined she is that she wanted to make things better for her kids. And if you’d listened, you’d have heard that CP are already involved. Stop labelling things just because you see something and jump to an opinion, about a stranger on the internet. This was so hard to watch as my Mind was just on the kids. Big kudos to the mother who reached out and so much love for Auri for doing this. This is a truly heroic act of service and empathy. We need more of this in the world!

I have bipolar disorder and am currently battling depression. My family knows about all of it but doesn't know the details about my living situation. Yesterday I had the courage to ask for help to clean for the first time, since my house was a mess and I was really ashamed about it. I've always made sure NOBODY sees it or knows how bad it is. Today me and my grandma cleaned together and managed to clean about 1/3 of the house. Your videos were a huge part of my decision to ask her for help since I've been too scared and ashamed of mysefl before. You're doing a great job and help a lot more people than just the ones you actually clean for.
Keep being brave. From one bipolar to another, I’m going thru the same thing right now. I’m done with organizing half of the house. It didn’t help that i moved here a few months ago with two houses worth of stuff-during the worst depression… there is Still so much more to go. Those poor children would have smelled when they went to school. Here in Canada, those children would likely have been apprehended by children's aid. God bless you for helping this mom and her children start a new chapter. The most important thing is for the mom to have support in her sobriety. So glad you have helped her in that area. My house looked like this growing up. I'm 33 now with 3 children and get terrible anxiety over any clutter in my home. I used to "rage clean" when ever there was any clutter and just throw everything away. I don't do that now (it's not healthy either), and my home still stays clean. I used to resent my mom for letting us live in filth, I always had to keep my area, I didn't have a room, clean. I thought I could feel germs on my body... but now I realize my mom was a struggling single mom and she was likely horribly depressed and overwhelmed. Thank you for helping these people.
I went thru the worst health crisis in my life. Was on the brink of death. For 2 years I struggled to do bare basic for my kids. I needed so much help and became dependent on my family. It was so hard. This is hard to see, but I am thankful because I could have been in this situation too if I didn't have help. You are an angel. My health is good now and I am grateful. As a single mum of 3 who struggles with mh and other illnesses this hit close to home I have had issues with my home and like this mum I reached out for help and got myself back on track it's the hardest thing to admit your not doing good enough but the best feeling when you come out the other side your amazing for helping and giving her chance to have a better start in her ne life
I cried after watching this. I really hope that mom can now build a better life for her and her kids. I also have 2 boys (and 2 cats!) and at times struggle to keep up with the house chores despite being in a very happy marriage and getting a lot of help from my husband, so I can't imagine how hard it must have been for her. This was one if the best stories you have done. But in general, everything you do is awesome and inspiring!

I am sure that it was stressing for the kids and the mom, but I want to point out that if the cats were peeing in the beds its a sign that they were under stress too... I'm so glad there is people like Auri willing to help !
@@miipmiipmiip not blaming this mother in anyway but rather just putting it out there so that people know, cats no like-y when litter box no clean-y. And this is why it’s important you clean out the litter box daily and change the litter once a week depending on your kitty.
Apart from their litter boxes being dirty, cats really do pee in places like beds (or dirty laundry) when they are scared or stressed. It's because by peeing there they are putting their own smell there, and that makes them feel safer. And putting their own smell somewhere that already smells safe makes them feel even safer. You spend hours in your bed every day, so it's probably the most you-smelling place, and thus the safest place in the cat's mind, in the house. So this cat probably deeply loves the kids and feels safe with them and wanted to make the place even safer in the middle of all this chaos. My own cat has peed on my bed when he's been under a lot of stress (when he was ill and came back from the vet and after being left alone overnight which I had never done before). You can clean a mattress from cat pee if it's not as bad as on this video. Soak the spot thoroughly with a cleaning product (ideally disinfecting). If you can, rinse after having let the cleaning product get properly absorbed. Make sure the mattress is properly dry before putting it back to use, and use baking soda for absorbing any remaining chemical smell. 👍🏻
As a single mom with two kids at the same age, i feel alot of empathy for the mom here. You are doing an amazing job, and i hope the mother gets the help she needs, to persue a more structured life. After this thorough deep cleaning you did in their house and for these kids and mom. I'm praying for nothing but elevation for the Moms mental health so her and her kids can continue to prosper in a safe and clean environment. I Thank God for running across videos of ppl like you who do this to help others. I’m so happy you bought new mattresses and bedding for the kids. When I heard that the mattresses had cat urine, I admittedly hoped you found a way to replace them and was so glad you did. Future tip, put protective plastic sheeting under bedsheet/on top of mattress incase the cat returns to old habits. Then they can just wash the sheets and wipe the plastic sheet (good for bed wetters too) and the mattress will remain in good condition. Loved their rug. Wish I had the same. Very proud of the mum for asking for help
I've had to do this on my own bed and lounge. I sometimes foster cats and they do sometimes pee on my bed and even my own cats have had accidents when they're sick or accidentally locked in a room. I learnt my lesson the first time but luckily the pee had not gone all the way through to the mattress. I immediately went out and got a waterproof mattress protector and something similar for the lounge. It has saved my bacon a few times since then
@@florencecavallaro4599 Yup. Poor cats litter boxes were so gross cat didn't/couldn't use it. The maggots. And, sharp lids everywhere (top of cans). Don't think most people can just 'stop drinking' alone especially given how many liquor bottles were on top of the trash as she cleaned. Hope social workers monitor this family and make sure it doesn't get back to that unsafe condition and that the kids/pets are well cared for.
They have whole mattress covers that are waterproof. The good ones are about $100. But they’re worth it. They keep out allergens as well. If something spills on the bed, it doesn’t seep into the mattress. You just unzip the cover and toss it in the wash.
I’m a retired psych nurse and even though the environment is now healthy to live in and attractive, many people become anxious when confronted with a drastically changed home. I am hopeful that all this wonderful and hard work motivates the client move toward a healthier environment and lifestyle ❤❤❤
There are so many humans in so much pain. Watching these videos makes me more aware. Nothing is 2 dimensional so we must look beyond what we see with compassion. I’m happy this mother got some help with her home and I hope this gave her the opportunity to start from new. I hope she manages to maintain it for herself and her children.

Thank you so much for helping her! I take care of my two little sisters after mom's death and work 12 hours shifts, so home is permanently messy. On my weekends I try to follow your advice and deep clean some parts, but sometimes it takes too much strength. I am always afraid that once the apartment becomes so dirty I could never clean it. It's tough, honestly. I also have bad cases of migraine so now I'm taking therapy to get rid of it. Hope once I'll see my home fully clean and it will last long.
I used to work 10 hour days with an hour commute at each end. Now, I didn't have the added strain of having to look after two little girls, and grieving, but what helped me keeping on top of my house when I didn't have much time was doing only one room per day, rather then waiting to do it all on the weekend. As I'd brush my teeth, at the same time I'd give the sink a wipe for example. I'd try to do dishes as I was cooking. Another day I'd go round with a dust cloth for a few minutes whilst my breakfast was in the microwave. And Indian head massages really helped me with my migraines, I could only afford to go once a month, but it made a real difference. You are a woman after my own heart! Helping people even when it is hard is so fulfilling. My sister suffered depression and had kids. Her in-laws wanted to judge. I convinced them to help by paying for church daycare. My friend and I deep cleaned a similar situation and went shopping for food did laundry. They did not have cats so I give you credit for such a tough clean. I used the enzyme spray for urine accidents on carpet and upholstery. She got on anti depressant and people helping saved the family. I hope your story ended this way, positive. It takes a truly honorable person to help and not judge. Bless your heart
Managed to clean a living space for 2 of 3 people that was nearly identical to this - the third person is a senior citizen and their space is even bigger and not opening the door to allow me in. Oh boy. You are a GREAT INSPIRATION It makes lives just a little bit better when we help one another.
I'm happy for the mom who was able to wake up after so long. It must have been hard for the kids too. Not just to see their mom like that, but coming back home to all that mess. Mom, you were brave to ask for help. And what ever everyone says, everyone makes mistakes. And what's done is done. Now you only need to move forward, and move forward in the right way.
I hope the mom can get the help to try start with cleaning routines both for her and for the kids, too. You ARE alliwed to take a step at the time, also rest for a bit. As long as the goal to get a room clean. The most important is the love. But it is also love, to have better cleaned home.
People have mentioned wearing a mask, which is a good idea to avoid germs, but it can also help with really bad smells! Take a little bit of peppermint oil or extract and put a few drops in the inside of your mask. Peppermint oil is very strong and crisp, so it can help if the smell really is just too much to handle. Also, you're an angel for doing all this work for free. This family really needed the help, and I'm sure they loved coming home to a clean house. One less thing to worry about!
You've really dramatically helped this mum and made a massive difference for her kids, what a wonderful change for them, all their lives will be so much better for having a clean tidy home. Plus the cats will be so much happier as they dont like to be dirty.
I would recommend wearing a good mask in future for any sort of job like this. You never know what you might be inhaling that is unsafe. We want you to stay healthy and safe so you can keep doing your work. 🙂
I would wear PPE for certain. Between all of the cleaning chemicals and the hazards of waste in the home and lack of maintenance in these type of homes are often dangerous with mold and termites. I’d be careful for sure. Never know what you might encounter.

I can imagine a situation like this could quickly spiral out of control, especially when you’re exhausted, depressed, and hopeless. Where to even start? You know? No judgment here. I’ve been there. Not to this extent, but I suffer from severe chronic, mysterious pain that none of my doctors seem to know the origin. There were a few years there that I felt utterly hopeless. No hope of a future of any kind and no light at the end of the tunnel. I don’t know what happened, but I must have slowly snapped out of it and now I’m doing much better, thank the lord. So I truly get it.

Awe my heart was aching when you then discovered the cat peed mattresses. Cats don’t like dirty places either so, yes they will go other places unfortunately. I’m happy you had additional help in cleaning this home and helping the cries of this mother. I hope they get the long term counseling needed individually and as a family. ❤❤❤❤
Omg those poor babies having to live in such filth breaks my heart 💔 when you showed the pee soaked mattresses I wanted to cry. I know the mom is struggling but the children should not be in that environment unless/until she gets better, I pray social services keeps tabs on her and makes sure the home stays clean and safe for them

I'm seeing so many comments degrading the mother. Sure, she should not have let it come to this, but you have ti give her credit for getting her kids away from an abusive home, quitting drinking, and reaching out for help bc she knew her kids deserved better. I praise her for doing all of that for her babies.

This is the first video of yours that I’ve watched. I just want to say that you are an absolute ANGEL 😇for helping this family, especially for free! I don’t know of anyone who would do this. This video was very hard to watch. This happened to my family. We kids were sleeping in beds with cat urine and fecal matter, and our carpets were full of fleas. We had no hot water and had to boil it on the stove to wash ourselves. My mother was an orphan who suffered from abuse and neglect in her own life and eventually turned to alcohol, as did my father, to cope with stress. Thanks to people like yourself, we were assisted in various ways (house cleaning by church friends, cats were removed by an aunt, new transportation was donated, etc.) and slowly my parents got back on track. They spent the last 20 years of their lives sober, happy, and in control. What you do matters!
(Adding a note here because several people have asked about the cats. We had about 25 cats when feline leukemia broke out and a majority of the cats got quite sick. My aunt paid a veterinarian to come to the house while we kids were at school and he fixed and vaccinated the cats who could be saved, and euthanized those who could not. It was one of the worst days in my life, but it was a huge help to my parents and it was all done with the best intentions.)

This was me in 2015.
I'd finally managed to escape an extremely abusive relationship.
Whilst my ex was at work, I got my 3 babies together, packed a few suitcases, and left.
We had nowhere to go, so we were homeless for a while, then we got a spot in a women's refuge.
My health was at an all-time low, I desperately needed surgery (my ex broke my jaw and smashed all my teeth, but I wasn't allowed to seek medical treatment at the time, so my entire facial structure was a mess) and I became addicted to opioids (pills) because I was always in so much pain.
I managed to rent us a house, and that's when I completely broke down.
At my worst, I didn't sleep for 3 weeks straight, so I'd started hallucinating - it was bad.
Our house ended up exactly like this one, bar the cat related issues, as we didn't have any pets.
Even though I was finally free, I wasn't free from the trauma, and it brought me to my knees.
My kids suffered greatly, and I don't think I'll ever forgive myself for that.
One of my neighbours could see that I had totally spiralled, so she made me accept her help to clean up the house (she was Swedish, and very persistent lol.)
We got it done over a weekend, and things started looking up.
I sought help for my mental health, and my insomnia issues.
I eventually got myself off the opiates and also got the surgery I needed, then I went on to move and get a great job.
It was a long road, but I got there.
These days, I sleep well, I clean, I garden, I paint, and I live my life everyday with the goal of doing everything I can to support my kids; they are who I get out of bed for.
I'm just about to go back to full-time work after a hiatus, and I no longer live in a waking nightmare.
I have hope.
The point is, people often think that once someone is out of a bad situation, that's it - they're fine.
A lot of people didn't understand why I had a complete breakdown *after* I got out.
What we don't talk about enough is the aftermath; the after effects of traumatic experiences, the fear, the energy it takes to push through that fear, the nightmares, the stress, the hopelessness, and what it actually takes to get back on one's feet after living in abject misery and fear for years.
We don't always just bounce back, sometimes we land even further down the gutter.
It takes monumental effort to escape abuse, and we're often left absolutely empty once we go through getting out.
It takes time to build those energy reserves back up, and in the meantime, everything can - and often does - fall apart.
It's wonderful to know that there are people out there who are empathetic enough to look beyond the overwhelming mess in front of them, to see into what the problem really is, and to just help.
We all need a little help sometimes.

@Christy Zee Aquarianated - 👍👍👍👍👍 Thank you. You put into words what I could not, of my own experience. I too was abused by my violent Mom as I grew up and later in a violent marriage. I left the marriage every year for 5 years but would be physically dragged back. After 5 years I finally was able to get over 360 miles (580 kms) away. Far enough he couldn't find me. Before that I didn't have a vehicle and his was always locked with the key in his pocket. He was also a light sleeper. That was back in the 50-70s with my Mom (my brother and sister say they don't remember "that") and 70s with my husband. Anyone I went to for help would tell him where I was when he phoned or dropped by. He keeps harassing them or playing the pity card over and over again till they give in. I'm sure they thought they were helping, even though I told them what he was doing to me. People, even family and friends, really do not want to be involved and when confronted will give up information to avoid being harassed by an aggressive person or even if they find him to be a GREAT guy, best buds, right. Makes it hard for them to believe he is so violent towards you. Even if you end up in the hospital. He down plays it or right out says it was your fault. Who are your friends and family to believe. They don't want anything to do with figuring out who is telling the truth between a nice guy and an obviously "upset" female. A female who is in shock from what has happened and in fear she will be found. Found and be taken back into the place of abuse. BUT you put a lot of my feelings and behaviour into words that I am unable to express. Once you are out nothing is fine. You are no longer fine. You are soooo broken. It is PTSD. We are just learning what that is and still don't know how to fix it or how to deal with it. Survivors just have to 'deal' with it. Your mind will not stop trying to 'deal' with it, figuring it out; how do you avoid it happening again. How to live with the nightmares. How to you silence or stop the memories that play over and over again in your mind no matter what you are doing or where you are. You are never safe from your memories or "out" of there. in you mind. Just like happy memories that pop up at any time, the nightmare memories do too. Good memories are triggered by the darnedest things. So are bad memories. Something so simple as seeing a happy couple definitely brings up THOSE memories and couples are everywhere, all the time. Memories are next to impossible to forget and it takes time to be at peace with them. This is how your day plays out. Every day. For years. Thank you for your words, Christy. They helped me.

Anyone complaining about using too much water/product has never smelt a home like this, of course you dont want to hose your house down everyday if it's not built to do so, but over cleaning a house in this condition is a good thing, you want to knock out as much bacteria as you possibly can, and even have some fun with bubbles because keeping good mental health through a clean like this is just as important. So happy we have people like you in the world to help families and people to move on from hard times.

Yeah, some people just have to chime in with their opinion about how they know better and are smarter. I'd rather over-index a bit and ensure it's clean and sanitized, than under-apply water and cleaner. This woman clearly knows what she's doing, and she produces some amazing results with some pretty overwhelming conditions that would daunt even many of the most hardened cleaning experts. And you can imagine what most of these places smell like!
Just want this mom to know the first and hardest step is getting help. You got you and your children out of an abusive house, You've stopped drinking, your house is clean. These a huge, huge, huge steps and you should feel super proud of yourself. I know I'm proud of you and so many others are too. Now it's time to enjoy your boys and to love yourself. THANK YOU! There are people out there making videos where they fill a sink or toilet with like 7 full bottles of product just for the color or foam. She’s literally just DEEP cleaning.
I think people were commenting on wooden cabinets and such, saying that there was too much water being thrown on wooden cabinets. Aurii mentioned that. She said it was okay if you do it once, the potential damage won't be noticable and stuff needs to be cleaned. Nevertheless, new people will notify her about the treatment of wooden cabinets and whether or not you should pour water on it.
For those people who criticize Auri (using too much water or products, if she says trashes or squeewee...) DO BY YOURSELF EVERYTHING SHE DOES FOR FREE AND THEN COME BACK TO SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT. GET A LIFE!! She's an AMAZING PERSON who do incredibly work and literally she saves someone's life by giving a new fresh start!

Zita, you don’t know that. Auri has heard back from people she has helped telling her they have kept their home clean. And saving someone’s life can be metaphorical and not literal. This kind of negativity is unnecessary. If everyone had that attitude then no one would ever help people in need and nothing would change. People need hope, a fresh start and help in order to change. Yes, it might get dirty again, but that doesn’t negate any of the effort made to help someone. Sometimes change happens gradually and a person needs a lot of help. My mom tried to quit smoking seven times. Even though she started again 6 times she never gave up and we encouraged her every time.
I miss her saying squeegee. English is not her first language so it never bothered me. I thought it was cute and even started pronouncing it like she does. Her attitude gives me so much joy.

1. I purposefully use words people will understand. Most people know what dogma, scientifically, statistically, probabilty, and every word I used mean. All of those terms are actually really common in debate, especially politics. I'm sorry, but if there are terms that I feel best represent what I'm trying to convey, I'm not going to dumb the words down to seem like I'm not trying to come off as smart; Especially if I have reason to believe people understand the terms I'm using.

4. You're ignoring context to this situation to make the mother come off worse than she actually is. She escaped a physically and mentally abusive spouse, realized the state of her home and called for help from a proffessional cleaner who would know how to clean such a toxic environment to work in better and safer than she could, cleaned the second bathroom herself and did just as good of a job as Ari judging by the photos (The second bathroom looked far safer to work in than the rest of the house judging by the before photo, and was far easier for an overwhelmed single mother tp handle), and got in conact with as well as worked with cps afterwards. She 100% had the drive to change, ya'll are just ignoring that to arbitarily force her into a box based purely off your predisposed beliefs towards this sort of thing. Using "big words" doesn't make me intellegent, but you two ignoring the nuance in this situation doesn't make you right either.
5. Calling someone out for dogmatic responses to complicated issues that should be taken on a case by case basis does not make it so that I'm basing my arguement on dogmatic beliefs. This persons whole "It'll just get trashed again" spiel is absolutely something I see all the time and is a dogmatic response to all situations like this regardless of context.
6. I find it interesting that you specified "someone who isn't motivated to change and doesn't put effort in" , implying that this logic applies to this case. When the latter is lying and the former is something you not only failed to prove but then ignored the blatant contradictions to in this case. I'm not even upset that you didn't provide sources of the science, I'm more baffled at how you twisted the situation to make your assertian of what the science says apply instead.

When you told and showed us that the woman who lives there had cleaned the other bathroom herself after you'd done all the other cleaning, I cried. I know from my own experience what it's like to finally get a little energy to do things because others have helped and brought some hope.
My house looks like this and I am binge watching your video for motivation. Within a span of 2 years my dad had a stroke and a heart attack I was trying to take care of him, but I had school, then I was diagnosed with ADHD and a bad Hoarding habit. I was so scared about my dad I stress ate, put my physical and mental health and my home on the back burner I have already cleaned half of the rooms in my house thanks to you! My first room I cleaned was my cleaning closet so then that became SO useful when cleaning the other rooms!

@@jamesjackson5020 she was most likely depressed and you never know her children could of been one of her motivation to ask for help it would of been real abuse if she continued to have her children live like that moms are allowed to go through harsh times and her mental health was declining but at the end of the day she asked for help and she even cleaned up the other bathroom I know her and her kids are doing just fine and obviously let’s hope her and her kids don’t have to live like that again any time soon.

The energy that this woman brings with her cleaning these peoples home can only influence them to be just as, if not more positive and productive. Replacing the children's mattresses was a desperate plus. As I'm confused as to why the cats chose to urinate in their beds.
This video really "hits home" for me. I remember growing up in a house like this one. We had three cats though. I would constantly go without food or hot water. And there was urine and excrement from the cats everywhere. Even in the shower. I couldn't have friends round, I stank constantly. To this day my mum still lives like this. We had manyyy people come and help us. But it never stuck. I'm almost 24yrs old now. And I struggle with keeping a clean home. I've suffered from psychosis for almost 5yrs now. And am finally coming out the other end. Thankfully I haven't let it get to this level in a few years now (after moving out of my mums) but it's still not tidy. Now that I'm coming out the other side, I'm getting better at cleaning. And one of my goals for this year is to keep a tidy flat. I'm putting on your video today as cleaning motivation. So that over the next week I can get my place to a point where all I have to do is KEEP it tidy. Rather then doing a lot at once. I know for some people your help can be inspiring. I appreciate the non-judgement, but I am still worried for the children's physical and mental well-being. I really hope the mother gets all the support she needs to provide a healthy and safe environment. Thank you for doing this. The mattress situation nearly broke my heart. I have two boys (4 and 7) and sometimes I feel guilty about cleaning when I should spend time with them or I feel guilty for not cleaning enough. Being a mom is always hard, but this was really tough to see.
Being a single mom is crushing. Yes you are filled with guilt cause someone is raising your child. While you work your ass off to make ends meet. Then when you get home you are exhausted. Barely have enough energy to make food for your kids and your self. Then, if you decide you want to spend more time with kids time at work slows and so does money and do you are destitute. It’s a vicious cycle of chaos, work, rush rushrush rush. Not sure how but I found a husband who is the best provider and I get to spend what little time o have left with my son before he goes off to college.
I grew up in a similar situation. Thank you for helping these kids! I wish someone like you had come to our apartment growing up. They will remember this the rest of their lives ❤
These videos are both hard and uplifting to watch. I went through a brief period like this when I was 20 and my kids 6m and 18m. My home never got this bad but it was bad enough, I was alone, so very broken from the trauma of a violent relationship with my kids dad and literally catatonic most of the time. I didn’t even drink or take drugs, I think I just went into shock. No one came to help me and watching you help these people moves me to tears and inspires me to do the same, because I know, I remember how it felt - what you’re doing is so special. Thank you! To anyone watching and judging these people… I hope that you never know the agony of losing yourself in this way.
I went through that too when I escaped an abusive situation while pregnant and with a 7 year old. I'm glad you escaped, and you're right no one should be judging unless they walked a mile in their shoes.
Yes. When I look at these houses I cringe and shake my head. When you hear the "Stories" behind these houses it's heartbreaking but they are doing their best to change for the better. Asking for help is something that alot of folks still have a problem with. The Bible says Pride Goeth Before A Fall.

Catatonia.. Thanks for telling me. I had no idea how to describe what happened to me when I left an abusive situation. I was severely catatonic for at least two weeks. I wouldnt eat or drink or move. I wouldnt even change positions in bed. I would stare silently at the wall for days. Sounds crazy looking back but in my head it took everything for me to drink water after that. Its messed up but I recovered! and now Im with someone that is incredible. 😊
I wonder what the best way to offer help is? Because I’m a lot like Auri, and would LOVE to clean and organize for people, but I always find myself instead pretending that I don’t notice the mess so they don’t feel worse…😔💔

I don't know if you've heard this tip before but if you are cleaning a home with a lot of cat litter/urine scent everywhere, place a large mason jar of hot water and white vinegar in the room about an hour before you go in and leave it there while you clean. It helps neutralize the scent and makes a huge difference in air quality I swear

As someone who was a teacher for 20 years, thank you for helping these kids. I taught middle and high school kids, and it was amazing how many of them were in this kind of situation. One of my students told me he had no bed. Their apartment was filled with 8 mattresses and his parents rented them for 8 hours to anyone who could pay, so often he had nowhere to sleep because all the mattresses were rented. God help us. Also, great job on getting the kids mattresses. That's a GIANT help. Someone needs to keep checking on this family to keep the mom accountable. We didn't see the mom's room or bathroom, so I'm guessing she had to clean those herself. It's great that she cleaned her bathroom. I take a break in my work, and started watch this video. In the middle I had to stop it, because I needed to deep clean my cat's litter boxes. Motivation aproved ^^
This was my reality as a child... My mom's house was way worse. It still is. I'm now a 28 year old mom with my own house and responsibilities and I had to teach myself how to do everything after I moved out. I'm still learning better ways to do things because I refuse to let my children go through what I did.
I watch hoarding videos as a way to kind of piss myself off and get myself in manic cleaning mode. 😅
@@ariannahwilder3982 I didnt have it this bad, but my family definetly liked to keep stuff instead of getting rid of it. As such I told my self to never allow my home to get into bad state, and I cleaned all the time so I had maticulous home, I didnt bring me happines, just stress. So from this prespective, I just want to advice you to sometimes give yourself a break, having mess doesnt eman you will become your mother, or your home becoming her house. :) Stay happy

It took time for me to be okay leaving a cup or plate in the sink before bedtime. Sounds silly but, unless you've been there, you may not understand how hard it was to train my brain to think it will not lead to hoarding.

What a lovely and understanding person you are. My son recently died through his depression, he had alcohol dependency, the only time he was happy when drinking. He was the kindest soul, never abusive. His end was horrific to say the least, his last words to me were "I'm so sorry mum". That broke my heart. His neighbours were like his brother and sister, their granddaughter is heartbroken her best friend is gone, they too are beyond sad. I thank you for your good 💖💓

My best advice for parents who are drowning in problems. DO NOT ADD PETS TO THE EQUATION. It won't end well and the animals end up neglected.
Pets can be a huge comfort to people and especially children who cannot turn to an adult. It can be their only form of affection.
To deprive them of that can lead to a very sad life of not being able to show or understand emotion.

Speaking as someone who struggles with hoarding tendencies, depression, and anxiety, you really can’t understand the depth of what an amazing person you are for helping people. For saving them. I’ve managed to turn my life around mostly, thanks to the help of people like you, and while my home isn’t perfect, it is in such a better state. If someone reading this is struggling, i know how embarrassing and disheartening it is, but please seek help. There is hope on the other side. It takes a lot of work, but i promise you it is worth it. My heart goes out to this mother and her children. No judgment here. I pray you were able to turn your life around.
Aurikatariina really is the best because she's there to HELP. not to shame the people into "doing better" she's here to help and provide a nice starting base. For many of us, cleaning the home alone is a major task. One that can seem impossible after a certain point. I say this with kindness and empathy, maybe the children should stay with relatives (temporarily) until the mother gets serious help for her depression. It's obvious she's overwhelmed and needs intervention but it's not fair to have young children living like that.
This reminds me so much of a girl I met in junior high and was friends with through high school. Her mother was al alcoholic and their home was almost exactly like this. Just garbage everywhere and her mother would throw everything everywhere. Most of her free time was spent cleaning up after her own mother. I felt so much for that sweet soul! She was determined to try to HELP her mother up until graduating from high school and needing to get her own life together. She joined the military, trained to be a nurse and now she is out with a job in a hospital. Her mother is pretty much still the same person, heavily drinking on a regular basis which is so sad but no one can help us if we won’t help ourselves. So thankful my friend had the strength to get away from her mother.

Every weekend it was back to being the same mess, the baby was dirty and in dirty clothing. I would take on the job of looking after the other kids and the cooking and cleaning. It was terrible.
We were so vulnerable. Bad people hurt us because they could get away with it - we didn't have an adult or anyone to protect us when I was at my Dad's place.
Thank you Auri for doing what you are doing. I just hope these children have people who will show up and look after them long-term, the mother needs a lot more help.

This is the best motivation for cleaning I've ever seen you are wonderful :-) and so are your helpers*also I have found enzymatic cleaners like bio klean, or any other brand specific to pet urine works amazing, even on items that can't be washed. It's also important to use so the cats don't return to the same areas
Enzymatic cleaners are The best for The smell, The stains and for The cats not repeating in The same áreas. Even Cats and dogs. You don't have to wash sometingh. Only spread It over the affected area.

@@jamesjackson5020 I do understand, and it is very likely she was even more angry and disgusted with herself than you are at her....what is shocking is how deep trauma can go, and how debilitating it can be when you cannot break free from it....getting free from the abuser does not automatically free you from the abuse, it stays with you a while, in your thoughts and emotions, even physically draining you. add those unhealthy coping mechanisms, like addiction....sometimes it is the only way you can survive a thing, to make it to the other side. I would rather them have a memory of a few months of squalor than a trauma of mom's suicide and a life lived without her.

You have no idea what it’s like to go through abuse and have serious mental struggles as a result. And I know that because you wouldn’t have made that comment, otherwise. I do know what it’s like because I’ve worked with people who have been in this mother’s situation. When the brain is in crisis, parts of it can literally shut down to all external stimuli. There are many medical reasons why a person might not literally see what other people do. The fact this woman was able to find awareness on her own and ask for help on her own, is proof of how determined she is that she wanted to make things better for her kids. And if you’d listened, you’d have heard that CP are already involved.

I have bipolar disorder and am currently battling depression. My family knows about all of it but doesn't know the details about my living situation. Yesterday I had the courage to ask for help to clean for the first time, since my house was a mess and I was really ashamed about it. I've always made sure NOBODY sees it or knows how bad it is. Today me and my grandma cleaned together and managed to clean about 1/3 of the house. Your videos were a huge part of my decision to ask her for help since I've been too scared and ashamed of mysefl before. You're doing a great job and help a lot more people than just the ones you actually clean for.

Keep being brave. From one bipolar to another, I’m going thru the same thing right now. I’m done with organizing half of the house. It didn’t help that i moved here a few months ago with two houses worth of stuff-during the worst depression… there is Still so much more to go. I just spent a ton on kitchen stuff due to Black Friday mania, but it was needed cuz all of my pots and dishes were rusted from not washing them for so long 😢 it’s so hard, keeping goal in mind, Piece by piece ❤️

Those poor children would have smelled when they went to school. Here in Canada, those children would likely have been apprehended by children's aid.

My house looked like this growing up. I'm 33 now with 3 children and get terrible anxiety over any clutter in my home. I used to "rage clean" when ever there was any clutter and just throw everything away. I don't do that now (it's not healthy either), and my home still stays clean. I used to resent my mom for letting us live in filth, I always had to keep my area, I didn't have a room, clean. I thought I could feel germs on my body... but now I realize my mom was a struggling single mom and she was likely horribly depressed and overwhelmed. Thank you for helping these people.
I went thru the worst health crisis in my life. Was on the brink of death. For 2 years I struggled to do bare basic for my kids. I needed so much help and became dependent on my family. It was so hard. This is hard to see, but I am thankful because I could have been in this situation too if I didn't have help. You are an angel. My health is good now and I am grateful. As a single mum of 3 who struggles with mh and other illnesses this hit close to home I have had issues with my home and like this mum I reached out for help and got myself back on track it's the hardest thing to admit your not doing good enough but the best feeling when you come out the other side your amazing for helping and giving her chance to have a better start in her ne life
I cried after watching this. I really hope that mom can now build a better life for her and her kids. I also have 2 boys (and 2 cats!) and at times struggle to keep up with the house chores despite being in a very happy marriage and getting a lot of help from my husband, so I can't imagine how hard it must have been for her. I am sure that it was stressing for the kids and the mom, but I want to point out that if the cats were peeing in the beds its a sign that they were under stress too... I'm so glad there is people like Auri willing to help !

@@miipmiipmiip not blaming this mother in anyway but rather just putting it out there so that people know, cats no like-y when litter box no clean-y. And this is why it’s important you clean out the litter box daily and change the litter once a week depending on your kitty.
Apart from their litter boxes being dirty, cats really do pee in places like beds (or dirty laundry) when they are scared or stressed.
It's because by peeing there they are putting their own smell there, and that makes them feel safer. And putting their own smell somewhere that already smells safe makes them feel even safer. You spend hours in your bed every day, so it's probably the most you-smelling place, and thus the safest place in the cat's mind, in the house. So this cat probably deeply loves the kids and feels safe with them and wanted to make the place even safer in the middle of all this chaos.
My own cat has peed on my bed when he's been under a lot of stress (when he was ill and came back from the vet and after being left alone overnight which I had never done before).
You can clean a mattress from cat pee if it's not as bad as on this video. Soak the spot thoroughly with a cleaning product (ideally disinfecting). If you can, rinse after having let the cleaning product get properly absorbed. Make sure the mattress is properly dry before putting it back to use, and use baking soda for absorbing any remaining chemical smell. 👍🏻

You are doing an amazing job, and i hope the mother gets the help she needs, to persue a more structured life. Ive got ADHD, depression and mental burnout but im seeking help and has been getting help all of 2023..wish her and her family all the best, and happy new year ❤
After this thorough deep cleaning you did in their house and for these kids and mom. I'm praying for nothing but elevation for the Moms mental health so her and her kids can continue to prosper in a safe and clean environment. I Thank God for running across videos of ppl like you who do this to help others. Even when you're mentioning the bad things you still do it in a respectable way and I wish more ppl would think to treat others and their situations with the upmost respect like you do with everyone. That goes to show that you're being nothing but who God beautifully made you ❤️
I’m so happy you bought new mattresses and bedding for the kids. When I heard that the mattresses had cat urine, I admittedly hoped you found a way to replace them and was so glad you did. Future tip, put protective plastic sheeting under bedsheet/on top of mattress incase the cat returns to old habits. Then they can just wash the sheets and wipe the plastic sheet (good for bed wetters too) and the mattress will remain in good condition.

I've had to do this on my own bed and lounge. I sometimes foster cats and they do sometimes pee on my bed and even my own cats have had accidents when they're sick or accidentally locked in a room. I learnt my lesson the first time but luckily the pee had not gone all the way through to the mattress. I immediately went out and got a waterproof mattress protector and something similar for the lounge. It has saved my bacon a few times since then

@@florencecavallaro4599 Yup. Poor cats litter boxes were so gross cat didn't/couldn't use it. The maggots. And, sharp lids everywhere (top of cans). Don't think most people can just 'stop drinking' alone especially given how many liquor bottles were on top of the trash as she cleaned. Hope social workers monitor this family and make sure it doesn't get back to that unsafe condition and that the kids/pets are well cared for.
You still need to vent this as much as you can, since where you put plastic it can get moldy..
They have whole mattress covers that are waterproof. The good ones are about $100. But they’re worth it. They keep out allergens as well. If something spills on the bed, it doesn’t seep into the mattress. You just unzip the cover and toss it in the wash.
I’m a retired psych nurse and even though the environment is now healthy to live in and attractive, many people become anxious when confronted with a drastically changed home. I am hopeful that all this wonderful and hard work motivates the client move toward a healthier environment and lifestyle ❤❤❤
There are so many humans in so much pain. Watching these videos makes me more aware. Nothing is 2 dimensional so we must look beyond what we see with compassion. I’m happy this mother got some help with her home and I hope this gave her the opportunity to start from new. I hope she manages to maintain it for herself and her children.
This was really hard to watch. As a mom, this video shook me to the core. Cause these kids are not the first- nor the last- to live like that.

I personally know about that and I'm trying to correct my thinking and attitude on that fact, to accept, but praise what I'm really about, all the good things. Thank you so much for helping her! I take care of my two little sisters after mom's death and work 12 hours shifts, so home is permanently messy. On my weekends I try to follow your advice and deep clean some parts, but sometimes it takes too much strength. I am always afraid that once the apartment becomes so dirty I could never clean it. It's tough, honestly. I also have bad cases of migraine so now I'm taking therapy to get rid of it. Hope once I'll see my home fully clean and it will last long.

I used to work 10 hour days with an hour commute at each end. Now, I didn't have the added strain of having to look after two little girls, and grieving, but what helped me keeping on top of my house when I didn't have much time was doing only one room per day, rather then waiting to do it all on the weekend. As I'd brush my teeth, at the same time I'd give the sink a wipe for example. I'd try to do dishes as I was cooking. Another day I'd go round with a dust cloth for a few minutes whilst my breakfast was in the microwave. And Indian head massages really helped me with my migraines, I could only afford to go once a month, but it made a real difference. Wish you all the best, you can do it, sending you positivity and strength!

You are a woman after my own heart! Helping people even when it is hard is so fulfilling. My sister suffered depression and had kids. Her in-laws wanted to judge. I convinced them to help by paying for church daycare. My friend and I deep cleaned a similar situation and went shopping for food did laundry. They did not have cats so I give you credit for such a tough clean. I used the enzyme spray for urine accidents on carpet and upholstery. She got on anti depressant and people helping saved the family. I hope your story ended this way, positive. It takes a truly honorable person to help and not judge. Bless your heart
Managed to clean a living space for 2 of 3 people that was nearly identical to this - the third person is a senior citizen and their space is even bigger and not opening the door to allow me in. Oh boy. You are a GREAT INSPIRATION It makes lives just a little bit better when we help one another.

I'm happy for the mom who was able to wake up after so long. It must have been hard for the kids too. Not just to see their mom like that, but coming back home to all that mess. Mom, you were brave to ask for help. And what ever everyone says, everyone makes mistakes. And what's done is done. Now you only need to move forward, and move forward in the right way.
I hope the mom can get the help to try start with cleaning routines both for her and for the kids, too. You ARE alliwed to take a step at the time, also rest for a bit. As long as the goal to get a room clean. The most important is the love. But it is also love, to have better cleaned home.
It’s not just hard for the kids. It was neglect.
People have mentioned wearing a mask, which is a good idea to avoid germs, but it can also help with really bad smells! Take a little bit of peppermint oil or extract and put a few drops in the inside of your mask. Peppermint oil is very strong and crisp, so it can help if the smell really is just too much to handle.
Also, you're an angel for doing all this work for free. This family really needed the help, and I'm sure they loved coming home to a clean house. One less thing to worry about!
You've really dramatically helped this mum and made a massive difference for her kids, what a wonderful change for them, all their lives will be so much better for having a clean tidy home. Plus the cats will be so much happier as they dont like to be dirty.
I would recommend wearing a good mask in future for any sort of job like this. You never know what you might be inhaling that is unsafe. We want you to stay healthy and safe so you can keep doing your work. 🙂
I would wear PPE for certain. Between all of the cleaning chemicals and the hazards of waste in the home and lack of maintenance in these type of homes are often dangerous with mold and termites. I’d be careful for sure. Never know what you might encounter.

It’s nice to see almost zero negative comments judging the mom. Life is stressful and that mom is probably doing the best she can with what she has. I hope this is the first step in her getting back to a normal cleaning routine and her kids can have friends over. Sending her and her babes love and light. ❤
I can imagine a situation like this could quickly spiral out of control, especially when you’re exhausted, depressed, and hopeless. Where to even start? You know? No judgment here. I’ve been there. Not to this extent, but I suffer from severe chronic, mysterious pain that none of my doctors seem to know the origin. There were a few years there that I felt utterly hopeless. No hope of a future of any kind and no light at the end of the tunnel. I don’t know what happened, but I must have slowly snapped out of it and now I’m doing much better, thank the lord. So I truly get it.

Omg those poor babies having to live in such filth breaks my heart 💔 when you showed the pee soaked mattresses I wanted to cry. I know the mom is struggling but the children should not be in that environment unless/until she gets better, I pray social services keeps tabs on her and makes sure the home stays clean and safe for them

I'm seeing so many comments degrading the mother. Sure, she should not have let it come to this, but you have ti give her credit for getting her kids away from an abusive home, quitting drinking, and reaching out for help bc she knew her kids deserved better. I praise her for doing all of that for her babies.
