Very good and concise, but I wish you’d continued the last steps to separate the two gloss black base pieces from each other. I have to repair a bit of bubbled black paint on the Triangular portion which mounts to the rubber gasket on the door due to some corrosion that begin with a tiny rock chip. Because the bubbled paint ran up underneath the rubber gasket at the corner of the window frame, I had to remove the entire mirror to separate it from the gasket. It would be MUCH easier to repair or replace that black mounting piece (PN 0153121U6680) if it was not connected to the other large electrically folding piece that holds the actual mirror glass and cover.
mine i just closed the door and the mirror smashed on the floor... still cant believe this happen... really confused if it was vandalism or is just old..... cant believe a luxurious 5 series that cost the price of a house just have parts droping on the floor... cant believe this, had a opel for 10 years have zero problems... have this car for 1 year and already had ridiculous problems like water leak and this..... im sorry but i worked all my life to have a nice car and have to deal with this..... again not sure if is the bad quality or some fukin neighbour in any case it just fall down the mirror not the entire thing.... 2020....
Yes, the BMW 5 Series is full of issues. I have a 10 year old one with only 55K miles but it is constantly needing to be repaired. If you have air suspension that will fail, the car will flood due to the famous 'yellow grommet', the headlights will fill with condensation, and the mirrors will fail, amongst other things. Apparently the automatic gearbox also fails after 10 years as it needs to have its lubricant changed (BMW advise that it is a sealed unit and never needs a lube change....!). BMW will deny that any of the issues are their fault and will not cover them under a warranty. Unbelievable. Never, ever buy a BMW.
Fortunate is the BMW driver that finds this post. WARNING. Change that 8 speed auto transmission fluid and filter! The filter is an integral part of the trans oil pan. I waited until mine started making a subtle whine when cold at 70,000 miles that no one else could hear, including the service tech at The Stealership. I ordered a trans flush kit from FCP Euro online, and installed it per their excellent RUclips video. I found that my ZF “sealed” trans was almost 2 quarts low on fluid, yet with no leaks! Refilled it per specs, no more whine sound and that was a couple thousand miles ago. All is well now.
Same just happened with me yesterday. The right side mirror was playing up whenever i accelerate harder. I never worried about it until the only front mirror fell off when i folded the mirror in parking lot. It smashed into pieces after hitting the asphalt. The black softy heated pad remains attached to the mirror structure. I dont know if that would need to come off as well when repairin
Need to replace the bezel on mine and was wondering where you start. Just the video I was after, cheers.
Thank You. Verry Helpful.
